To characterize the attention deficits in one-hundred-fifteen participants, comprising two types of clinical profiles (affective and anxiety disorder), through a test of continuous VR execution. Method: Three tests (i.e., Nesplora Aquarium, BDI, and STAI) were used to obtain a standardized measure of attention, as well as the existence and severity of depression and anxiety, respectively. Results: Significant differences (CI = 95%) were found between the control group and the group with depression, in variables related to the speed of visual processing (p = 0.008) in the absence of distractors (p = 0.041) and during the first dual execution task (p = 0.011). For scores related to sustained attention, patients with depression and those with anxiety did not differ from controls. Our results suggest attentional deficits in both clinical populations when performing a continuous performance test that involved the participation of the central executive system of working memory, Horizon 2020 research and innovation program of the European Union under the grant agreement (733901)

The purpose of this study is to characterize the attention deficits in a sample in these 2 types of clinical profiles through a continuous execution test in virtual reality. Methods: A total of 115 participants were recruited by consecutive sampling. The experimental sample was collected from patients diagnosed with depression and anxiety. The three tests that have been used for this study are Nesplora Aquarium, BDI and STAI. Results: Here, we show that significant differences (CI = 95%) can be seen between the control group and the group with depression in the variables related to the speed of visual processing (V_correctreactime_mean, p = 0.008) in the absence of distractors (S_correctreactime_mean, p = 0.041) and during the first dual execution task (XnoDUALab_correctreactime_mean, p = 0.011). Unlike in the clinical depression group, no significant differences were observed in any of the variables related to the processing speed of patients with anxiety disorders, compared to control subjects. If significant differences (CI = 95%) can be seen between the control group and the anxiety group in all variables related to the level of attentional arousal, that would indicate a lower performance of the clinical group with anxiety in this function. Both patients with depression and anxiety did not differ from controls in scores related to sustained attention. Conclusions: Therefore, our results suggest that attentional deficits are present in both clinical populations when performing a continuous execution test with dual execution components that involve the participation of the central executive system of working memory. The Teaching Innovation Project to which we refer below has been focused to pupils of the subject "Meteorology", taught in the third year of the degree in Nautical Sciences and Maritime Transport. Furthermore, the general and specific skills enhanced in the students through this project, are very useful for many other subjects on their degree. The implementation of this project sought the achievement of several learning objectives. First, it was intended to improve the student's preparation in the subject, trying to make more attractive for pupils the usually tedious process of searching and analysis of relevant bibliographic information, not only from an academic point of view, but also from the perspective of the future sailor. Secondly but not least, it has been tried to promote studying and working habits through team activities. Although individual work creates habits of personal reflection, since the student marks his own learning patterns, it carries the risk of leading to subjective interpretations that are little contrast; therefore, is necessary to find a way to properly combine individual and group work. To achieve the aforementioned objectives, this teaching project has enhanced the active work of the student by conducting activities of five members designing thematic posters (chosen from a list of proposed topics), which are later exposed and discussed publicly. Through continuous interaction with fellow students in the preparation of the posters, we have sought to foster critical and self-critical capacity, as well as constructive competition. It promotes creativity and increase the investment of the student in improving their training. A poster is a type of academic communication of great educational interest since, in addition to its obvious importance in the academic field, it provides educational benefits that will be briefly explained below. By having a limited space, the student is forced to develop their ability for synthesize, through the use of graphs, tables, images, etc. This in turn requires applying their capacity for analysis, discerning essential and superfluous concepts. At last, the public exposition and discussion increases the responsibility that falls on the student facing their peers, which positively affects to the quality of the work. This teaching project has been carried out throughout the corresponding semester. With this purpose, a certain number of hours of practical classes were assigned. This affords the student to devote more time for the accomplishment of his work, as well as it allows the teacher a punctual and immediate follow-up of its development. The chosen format (poster size) favoured the attainment of several of the didactic objectives sought, at the same time that it served as an introduction to the student in the methodologies and vehicles of knowledge broadcasting at the academic world.

Este trabajo resume el uso y la difusión que ha tenido la plataforma de b-learning y gestión académica SWAD desde 1999 hasta 2018. SWAD ofrece herramientas de apoyo a la gestión docente y al aprendizaje, y ha sido utilizada durante 19 años por 180 000 usuarios en la Universidad de Granada (UGR). En los últimos 5 años se ofrece además de forma abierta y gratuita a través del portal OpenSWAD.org, donde ha sido utilizada por 23 000 usuarios procedentes de 1 500 instituciones educativas de todo el mundo., This work summarizes the use and dissemination of the SWAD blearning and academic management platform from 1999 to 2018. SWAD offers tools to support teaching management and learning, and has been used for 19 years by 180,000 users at the University of Granada (UGR).
