Abstract: A novel 2D coordination polymer, formulated as [Cd2(Hpimdc)2(bpp)(H2O)] n (bpp=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane, H3pimdc=2-propyl-4,5-imidazoledicarboxylate), has been hydro-thermally synthesized and structurally characterized, which shows unusual multifarious helical structures and (3,4)-connected network with (4.82)2(42.83.10) topology. Abstract: Three ZnII/CdII-coordination polymers based on 2-propyl-4,5-imidazoledicarboxylate (H3pimdc), namely, [Zn(Hpimdc)H2O] n (1), [Cd(H2pimdc)2] n (2) and [Cd2(Hpimdc)2(bbi)0.5(H2O)2] n [bbi=1,10-(1,4-butanediyl)bis(imidazole)] (3), have hydrothermally been synthesized, which exhibit a systematic dimensional variation by changing the metal ions or introducing the auxiliary ligand. Complex 1 is a 1D zig-zag polymeric chain, which is finally extended into a 3D supramolecular network through (12) O–H⋯O H-bonding rings. Complex 2 shows a 2D layer comprised alternately arranged left- and right-handed helical chains. Complex 3 features a rare (3,3)-connected 83 network with opposite chiral layers in a slipped ABAB fashion. Abstract: A new CdII-coordination polymer, namely, [Cd3(nbtc)2·4H2O] n (1), has been hydrothermally synthesized with in situ generated 5-nitrobenzene-1,2,3-tricarboxylate (nbtc3−) ligand. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction study reveals that compound 1 is constructed from trinuclear CdII clusters and exhibits a previously unknown 2D (3,4,9)-connected (3.42)(32.43.5)(36.411.510.68.8) topology as well as 3D H-bonding pillared architecture. A novel manganese(II) compound, namely, [Mn(4,4'-bipy)(OAc)2]n (1) (4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine), has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized. Single crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that it crystallizes in triclinic, P_[image omitted] space group with a = 8.043 (4) Å, b = 9.319 (5) Å, c = 10.769 (6) Å, α = 109.342 (5)°, β = 99.823 (7)°, γ = 101.808 (7), V = 720.2(7) Å3, C24H14MnN2O4, Mr = 329.21, Dc = 1.518 g·cm-3, Z = 1, F(000) = 338, the final R = 0.0485 and wR = 0.1028 for 3754 observed reflections [I > 2σ]. In 1, the cyclic dimeric metal acetate secondary building units are linked through 4,4'-bipyridine to yield 1D tube-shaped infinite armed-chains, which are further extended to a 3D supramolecular network with (4,5)-connected (44·62)(4465·8) topology through R21(5) and R21(7) C─H─O hydrogen bonds. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate weak antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between adjacent Mn2 + centers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
