Permian Wujiaping Formation in Hongxing area of eastern Sichuan is rich in high-quality shale, and multiple wells have achieved high productivity of industrial gas. It is an important replacement block for the natural gas production capacity of the Jianghan Oilfield. However, due to the complex structure and lithology, deep burial depth of the target layer, and large fluctuations in the attitude of thin reservoirs, complex situations such as well leakage and collapse occuring frequently, low mechanical drilling speed, long drilling cycles, and difficulty in ensuring the drilling rate of high-quality reservoirs seriously restrict the benefit development. Based on the summary of previous data, the drilling difficulties were analyzed, the optimal design of drilling engineering was carried out, and some key rock breaking tools were selected to optimize the density and sealing performance of drilling fluid. The "three opening" wellbore structure with three different diameters, "irregular tooth PDC and mixed drill bits + high torque equal wall thickness screw + reinforced parameter drilling", simple pressure control by a rotary control head, and low density and strong sealing drilling fluid technology for "both leakage and collapse treatment" were formed. We have established a geological engineering integrated guidance technology based on "vertical depth prediction, segmented slope control, and five charts and one table", and proposed the direction for further improvement. The on-site application shows that: (1) the "three opening" wellbore structure with three different diameters meets the safety drilling requirements in Hongxing area, laying the foundation for drilling speed increase. The parameter drilling was enhanced by high-performance PDC, and the mechanical drilling speed of each opening is significantly improved. The drilling speed of the third opening section in the Permian formation increased by 15%, and the horizontal section increased by 22%; (2) The density reduction and nano sealing drilling fluid technology effectively reduced the number and time of complex treatments, and the time for complex treatments was reduced by 20.5% compared to the early implementation of wells; (3) The penetration rate of high-quality reservoirs significantly increased to 93.27%, an increase of 19.85% compared to the previous period.

In recent years, the free-range system for laying hens has increased, driven by societal sensitivity to animal welfare. This study aimed to comparatively analyze the total lipid, cholesterol, and fatty acid composition of egg yolks of late-age laying hens reared in enriched cages (C) and the free-range system (FR). Eggs were collected from Lohmann Brown Classic hens at the 68th, 70th, 72nd, and 74th week of age. The concentrations of total lipids and cholesterol were not affected (p > 0.05) by either factor. Egg yolk from the FR group showed lower (p < 0.01) monounsaturated fatty acids and higher (p < 0.01) polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) compared with that of the C group. From a nutritional point of view, the PUFA n-6/n-3 and the PUFA/SFA ratios of egg yolk from the FR group were favorably lower and higher (p < 0.01) compared with the C one. Conversely, hen age did not affect (p > 0.05) the fatty acid composition of yolks. Interactions between factors were found for total n-3 and n-6 PUFA and the n-6/n-3 ratio (p < 0.01), as well as the thrombogenic index (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the results confirmed that the free-range system may improve the nutritional yolk fatty acid profile and its positive impact on human health.

Abstract In the last decade, two‐dimensional layered materials (2DLMs) have been drawing extensive attentions due to their unique properties, such as absence of surface dangling bonds, thickness‐dependent bandgap, high absorption coefficient, large specific surface area, and so on. But the high‐quality growth and transfer of wafer‐scale 2DLMs films is still a great challenge for the commercialization of pure 2DLMs‐based photodetectors. Conversely, the material growth and device fabrication technologies of three‐dimensional (3D) semiconductors photodetectors tend to be gradually matured. However, the further improvement of the photodetection performance is limited by the difficult heterogeneous integration or the inferior crystal quality via heteroepitaxy. Fortunately, 2D/3D van der Waals heterostructures (vdWH) combine the advantages of the two types of materials simultaneously, which may provide a new platform for developing high‐performance optoelectronic devices. Here, we first discuss the unique advantages of 2D/3D vdWH for the future development of photodetection field and simply introduce the structure categories, working mechanisms, and the typical fabrication methods of 2D/3D vdWH photodetector. Then, we outline the recent progress on 2D/3D vdWH‐based photodetection devices integrating 2DLMs with the traditional 3D semiconductor materials, including Si, Ge, GaAs, AlGaN, SiC, and so on. Finally, we highlight the current challenges and prospects of heterointegrating 2DLMs with traditional 3D semiconductors toward photodetection applications.

Climate change affects the growth of regional vegetation; both trees and grain crops often change concurrently, such that the annual radial growth of trees shows consistent inter-annual variations with the total grain crop productivity. However, it remains unclear whether they exhibit concurrent responses to climate factors, and that there lacks of the study on long-term high-resolution variations of grain crops productivity. This paper employs a Pinus massoniana tree-ring series from the Tongbai Mountains to analyze the correlations between tree-ring chronology, local climate data and grain productivity indicators (i.e., total sown grain areas (TSA), total grain outputs (TGO), and average grain yield per hectare (YPH)) of Henan Province in central China. BackgroundAs a device for percutaneous coronary intervention, drug-coated balloon (DCB) is widely used to treat in-stent restenosis. However, data regarding the use of DCB in treating de novo saphenous vein graft (SVG) lesions are limited. This study aimed to explore the outcomes of using the DCB in the treatment of de novo SVG lesions of coronary heart disease (CHD).MethodsThis retrospective and observational study analyzed CHD patients with de novo SVG lesions treated with DCB or the new-generation drug-eluting stent (DES) between January 2018 and December 2020. Restenosis was the primary endpoint, whereas target lesion revascularization (TLR), major adverse cardiac events, restenosis, cardiac death, target vessel revascularization, and myocardial infarction were the secondary outcomes.ResultsWe enrolled 31 and 23 patients treated with DCB and DES, respectively. The baseline clinical data, lesion characteristics, and procedural characteristics were similar between the two groups. Twenty-eight (90.3%) patients in the DCB group and 21 (91.3%) in the DES group completed follow-up angiography after 1 year. The quantitative coronary angiography measurements at angiographic follow-up showing late lumen loss were −0.07 ± 0.95 mm for the DCB group and 0.86 ± 0.71 mm for the DES group (P = 0.039), and the rates of restenosis were 13.3% and 21.7% for the DCB and DES groups, respectively (P = 0.470). No significant differences were observed in the rates of MACE (16.7% vs. 26.1%, P = 0.402) and TLR (13.3% vs. 4.3%, P = 0.374) during clinical follow-up.ConclusionOur findings suggest that when pre-dilatation was successful, DCB might be safe and effective in treating de novo SVG lesions.

Yunnan is rich in renewable energy resources. An understanding of its energy structure and developmental trajectories would assist in enabling the design of suitable decarbonizing pathways and how to fit into the national 30–60 agenda. Drawing from endogenous growth theory and time series analysis, our study employs comparative functions and scenario assessments to predict the changes in the key economic indicators, such as GDP, industrial structure shifts, population, and urbanization rates, during the low-carbon transition. We further show energy structure patterns and intensity trends using regression-modeling and data-fitting methods. Based on our analyses, we project that by 2035, Yunnan’s GDP will grow to CNY 5.4761 trillion, with secondary and tertiary industries contributing 88.8%. The population is estimated to grow to 52.08 million with an urbanization rate of 70%. Moreover, fossil fuel energy consumption is forecasted to diminish to 38.7%, and energy consumption intensity is projected to be reduced to 0.38 tons of standard coal per CNY 10,000. If these metrics follow the inherent endogenous growth trend, Yunnan’s emissions are forecasted to peak at around 220 million tons of CO2 by 2030. These findings not only provide a data foundation for Yunnan’s low-carbon development goals but also illuminate pathways for regions rich in renewable resources to transition towards sustainable growth, emphasizing the harmony between advancement and environmental stewardship.

Introduction: Leucine-rich repetitive kinase-2 (LRRK2) is a Parkinson's disease-related gene that also participates in many inflammatory diseases. However, the functional role of LRRK2 in cardiovascular disease is not clear. Objective: In this study, we aimed to elucidate the role of LRRK2 in cardiac remodelling under pressure overload. Methods: Aortic banding surgery was performed to induce cardiac remodelling in a LRRK2 knockout mouse model. A cardiomyocyte remodelling model was established by phenylephrine (PE) stimulation in neonatal rat cardiomyocytes. Results: LRRK2 was upregulated in remodelled mouse hearts and cardiomyocytes. Cardiac hypertrophy, fibrosis and dysfunction were ameliorated in LRRK2 knockout mice. LRRK2 silencing protected against the PE-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophic response, while LRRK2 over-expression worsened the PE-induced hypertrophic response in cardiomyocytes. Decreased autophagy was observed in remodelled cardiomyocytes, whereas LRRK2 silencing increased autophagy levels and LRRK2 overexpression reduced autophagy levels. The autophagy inhibitors 3-MA, bafilomycin and chloroquine reversed the protective effects of LRRK2 deficiency. The autophagy activator rapamycin reversed the deleterious effects of LRRK2 overexpression. We found that LRRK2 inhibited Bcl-2 phosphorylation, thus decreasing the phosphorylation of Beclin1. The protective effects of LRRK2 knockout were partly counteracted by Beclin1(+/−) in vivo and Beclin1 silencing in vitro. We also observed an interaction between LRRK2 and Rab7, an autolysosome degradation-associated protein, which caused Rab7 downregulation. Rab7 knockdown almost completely reversed LRRK2 silencing-induced protection of cardiomyocytes Conclusion: LRRK2 deficiency protected against cardiac remodelling under pressure overload by increasing Bcl-2/Beclin1 and Rab7-regulated autophagy levels in the heart.

Positrons with high energy and short pulse duration generated by the ultra-short and ultra-intense laser interaction with a two-target system (under-density plasma target and high-Z metal target) have wide applications. In this paper, we proposed an optimal scheme for enhancing positrons with multi-layer high-Z converters. Positrons with larger divergence escape from the target zone, reducing positron annihilation in the target, while secondary particles with smaller divergence react with the subsequent target to produce more positrons. The total positron yield and positron beam divergence increased obviously with the target number when using the thin converter, while the scenario was reversed for the recorded positrons. The total positrons produced by bilayer 5-mm targets and eight-layer 1-mm targets increased by 14% and 62%, respectively, compared to the outgoing positrons produced by an 8-mm monolayer target. Positron yields can be further enhanced by adjusting the thickness of the subsequent target and distance, according to the intensity and angular distribution of positrons emitted from the previous target.

Abstract With the increasing demand for multispectral information acquisition, infrared multispectral imaging technology that is inexpensive and can be miniaturized and integrated into other devices has received extensive attention. However, the widespread usage of such photodetectors is still limited by the high cost of epitaxial semiconductors and complex cryogenic cooling systems. Here, we demonstrate a noncooled two-color infrared photodetector that can provide temporal-spatial coexisting spectral blackbody detection at both near-infrared and mid-infrared wavelengths. This photodetector consists of vertically stacked back-to-back diode structures. The two-color signals can be effectively separated to achieve ultralow crosstalk of ~0.05% by controlling the built-in electric field depending on the intermediate layer, which acts as an electron-collecting layer and hole-blocking barrier. The impressive performance of the two-color photodetector is verified by the specific detectivity (D*) of 6.4 × 109 cm Hz1/2 W−1 at 3.5 μm and room temperature, as well as the promising NIR/MWIR two-color infrared imaging and absolute temperature detection.

The present study aimed to test the synbiotic PoultryStar® solUS delivered in ovo to evaluate its effect on hatchability, productive performance and meat quality, compared to its post-hatch administration in water. On the twelfth day of embryonic incubation, 1200 fertile eggs were divided into synbiotic groups injected with 2 mg/embryo (T1) and 3 mg/embryo (T2), a saline group injected with physiological saline and an uninjected control group (C). After hatching, 120 male chicks/group were reared and chicks from the saline group were supplemented with the synbiotic via drinking water (T3). Hatchability was low in both T1 and T2 groups. Growth performance was not affected by the treatments. However, in the second rearing phase (15–36 days), birds from the C and T3 groups were heavier than T1 birds, due to a higher feed intake and daily weight gain. Neither route of synbiotic administration influenced final body weight (at 56 days), weight and yield of the carcass or commercial cuts. Physico-chemical properties, total lipid, cholesterol and fatty acid composition of breast muscle were not affected by the treatments. Considering its exploratory nature, this study has raised many questions that need further investigation, such as the bioactive combination and the effect on embryonic development.

AimsAn increasing body of evidence suggests that drug-coated balloon (DCB) angioplasty represents a valuable option for revascularization in selected patients with coronary bifurcation disease. However, there remains a paucity of real-world observational evidence on the efficacy of DCB in left main (LM) true bifurcation lesion. We compared clinical and angiographic outcomes of hybrid [DCB + drug-eluting stent (DES)] versus DES-only strategy (provisional stenting or two-stent strategies) in de novo LM true bifurcated lesions.MethodsThe primary endpoint was the 2-year composite rate of target lesion failure (TLF): cardiac death, target vessel myocardial infarction (TVMI), or clinically driven target lesion revascularization (CD-TLR). A routine 1-year angiographic follow-up was scheduled. Propensity-score matching was utilized to assemble a cohort of patients with similar baseline characteristics.ResultsAmong 1077 eligible patients, 199 who received DCB treatment and 398 who were assigned to DES therapy had similar propensity scores and were included in the analysis. TLF within 2 years occurred in 13 patients (7.56%) assigned to DCB group, and 52 patients (14.36%) assigned to DES group (odds ratio: 0.487; 95% confidence interval: 0.258–0.922; P = 0.025; Log-rank P = 0.024). Compared with the DES group, the DCB group resulted in a lower rate of CD-TLR (2.91% vs. 9.42%; P = 0.007). Cardiac death, TVMI, all-cause mortality, and stent thrombosis were comparable between both groups. Patients treated with DES-only were associated with a higher late lumen loss (0.42 ± 0.62 mm vs. 0.13 ± 0.42 mm, P < 0.001) compared with the DCB group at 1 year. In sensitivity analysis, the DCB group also presented a lower incidence of TLF, CD-TLR and stent thrombosis both compared to the two-stent strategy and compared to provisional stenting (Ps < 0.05).ConclusionThe 2-year results of PCI utilizing DCB for LM true bifurcation lesions are superior to employing DES alone in terms of safety and effectiveness.

BackgroundDrug-coated balloons (DCB), alone or in combination with drug-eluting stents (DES), may be used to treat diffuse coronary lesions. We aimed to explore the efficacy and safety of DCB in patients with diffuse coronary lesions.MethodsConsecutive patients with diffuse coronary lesions (lesion length > 25 mm) who underwent DCB and/or DES between January 2015 and December 2019 were included in this prospective, observational, multicenter study. The DCB group included 355 patients (360 lesions), of which 142 patients (143 lesions, 39.7%) received the DCB-only strategy and 213 patients (217 lesions, 60.3%) received the hybrid strategy (DCB combined with DES). The DES group included 672 patients (831 lesions) treated with DES alone. Target lesion revascularization (TLR) during 3-year follow-up was the primary outcome of interest. The secondary outcome was major adverse cardiac events (MACE), defined as a composite of all-cause death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, and target vessel revascularization.ResultsThe two groups had comparable baseline clinical and lesion characteristics. Lesion length was similar (43.52 ± 16.46 mm vs. 44.87 ± 15.80 mm, P = 0.181), but the stent length in the DCB group was significantly shorter (24.02 ± 23.62 mm vs. 51.89 ± 15.81 mm, P < 0.001). Ten lesions (2.8%) in the DCB group received bailout stents. Over 3 years of follow-up, no significant difference in TLR incidence between the groups (7.3 vs. 8.3%, log-rank P = 0.636) was observed. Incidence of MACE also did not differ significantly (11.3 vs. 13.7%, log-rank P = 0.324). No thrombosis events occurred in the DCB group, while four patients (0.6%) in the DES group experienced stent thrombosis (log-rank P = 0.193). Moreover, similar TLR and MACE rates were observed between DCB-only and hybrid strategies (TLR: 6.4 vs. 8.0%, log-rank P = 0.651; MACE: 11.4 vs. 11.2%, log-rank P = 0.884).ConclusionLong-term outcomes show that the efficacy and safety of the DCB strategy (DCB alone or combined with DES) are similar to those of DES alone in diffuse coronary lesions. These findings suggest that this strategy is a promising alternative for select patients with diffuse coronary lesions.

Abstract Puerarin has been reported to be an excellent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial agent, but the potential effect of puerarin on porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is unclear. This study aimed to determine whether puerarin could alleviate intestinal injury in piglets infected with PEDV. A PEDV (Yunnan province strain) infection model was applied to 7-day-old piglets at 104.5 TCID50 (50% tissue culture infectious dose). Piglets were orally administered with puerarin at the dosage of 0.5 mg/kg body weight from day 5 to day 9. On day 9 of the trial, piglets were inoculated orally with PEDV. Three days later, jugular vein blood and intestinal samples were collected. Results showed puerarin reduced morbidity of piglets infected with PEDV. In addition, puerarin reduced the activities of aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase, the ratio of serum aspartate aminotransferase to serum alanine aminotransferase, the number of white blood cells and neutrophils, and the plasma concentrations of interleukin-6, interleukin-8 and tumor necrosis factor-α, as well as protein abundances of heat shock protein-70 in PEDV-infected piglets. Moreover, puerarin increased D-xylose concentration but decreased intestinal fatty acid-binding protein concentration and diamine oxidase activity in the plasma of piglets infected with PEDV. Puerarin increased the activities of total superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase and catalase, while decreasing the activities of myeloperoxidase and concentration of hydrogen peroxide in both the intestine and plasma of PEDV-infected piglets. Puerarin decreased mRNA levels of glutathione S-transferase omega 2 but increased the levels of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2. Furthermore, puerarin increased the abundance of total eubacteria (16S rRNA), Enterococcus genus, Lactobacillus genus and Enterobacteriaceae family in the intestine, but reduced the abundance of Clostridium coccoides in the caecum. These data indicate puerarin improved intestinal function in piglets infected by PEDV and may be a promising supplement for the prevention of PEDV infection.

Abstract β-Conglycinin (β-CG), an anti-nutritional factor, is a major allergen in soybeans to induce intestinal dysfunction and diarrhea in neonatal animals, including piglets and human infants. This study with a piglet model determined the effects of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) on intestinal function and autophagy in response to β-CG challenge. Twenty-four 12-day-old piglets (3.44 ± 0.28 kg), which had been weaned at 7 days of age and adapted for 5 days after weaning, were randomly allocated to the control, β-CG, and β-CG + NAC groups. Piglets in the control group were fed a liquid diet containing 10% casein, whereas those in the β-CG and β-CG + NAC groups were fed the basal liquid diets containing 9.5% casein and 0.5% β-CG for 2 days. Thereafter, pigs in the β-CG + NAC group were orally administrated with 50 mg (kg BW)−1 NAC for 3 days, while pigs in the other two groups were orally administrated with the same volume of sterile saline. NAC numerically reduced diarrhea incidence (− 46.2%) and the concentrations of hydrogen peroxide and malondialdehyde, but increased claudin-1 and intestinal fatty-acid binding protein (iFABP) protein abundances and activities of catalase and glutathione peroxidase in the jejunum of β-CG-challenged piglets. Although β-CG challenge decreased the villus height, villus height/crypt depth ratio, and mRNA levels of claudin-1 and occludin, no significant differences were observed in these indices between the control and β-CG + NAC groups, suggesting the positive effects of NAC supplementation on intestinal mucosal barrier function. Moreover, NAC increased the concentrations of citrulline and D-xylose in the plasma, as well as the expression of genes for aquaporin (AQP) 3, AQP4, peptide transporter 1 (PepT1), sodium/glucose co-transporter-1 (SGLT-1), potassium inwardly-rectifying channel, subfamily J, member 13 (KCNJ13), and solute carrier family 1 member 1 (SLC1A1) in the jejunum, demonstrating that NAC augmented intestinal metabolic activity and absorptive function. Remarkably, NAC decreased Atg5 protein abundance and the LC3II/LC3I ratio (an indicator of autophagy) in the jejunum of β-CG-challenged piglets. Taken together, NAC supplementation improved intestinal function and attenuated intestinal autophagy in β-CG-challenged piglets.

Objective Cold stress induces oxidative damage and impairs energy status of broilers. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) exhibits antioxidant properties and modulates energy metabolism of animals. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of NAC on energy status and antioxidant capacity of heart and liver in the cold-stressed broilers. Methods The experiment consisted of 4 treatments in a 2×2 factorial arrangement with two diets (basal diet or plus 0.1% NAC) and two ambient temperatures (thermoneutral [conventional ambient temperature] or cold stress [10°C±1°C during days 15 to 42]). Results No ascites were seen in cold-stressed broilers. NAC did not attenuate the impaired growth performance of stressed birds. Photodetectors operating within scattering environment can be realized with anisotropic materials. Here, the authors report polarization sensitive photodetectors based on thin tellurium nanosheets with high photoresponsivity of 3.54 × 102 A/W, detectivity of ~3.01 × 109 Jones in the mid-infrared range and an anisotropic ratio of ∼8 for 2.3 μm illumination to ensure polarized imaging.

Abstract Photodetectors built from conventional bulk materials such as silicon, III–V or II–VI compound semiconductors are one of the most ubiquitous types of technology in use today. The past decade has witnessed a dramatic increase in interest in emerging photodetectors based on perovskite materials driven by the growing demands for uncooled, low‐cost, lightweight, and even flexible photodetection technology. Though perovskite has good electrical and optical properties, perovskite‐based photodetectors always suffer from nonideal quantum efficiency and high‐power consumption. Joint manipulation of electrons and photons in perovskite photodetectors is a promising strategy to improve detection efficiency. In this review, electrical and optical characteristics of typical types of perovskite photodetectors are first summarized. Electrical manipulations of electrons in perovskite photodetectors are discussed. Then, artificial photonic nanostructures for photon manipulations are detailed to improve light absorption efficiency. By reviewing the manipulation of electrons and photons in perovskite photodetectors, this review aims to provide strategies to achieve high‐performance photodetectors.

The Tongbai Mountains are an ecologically sensitive region to climate change, where there lies a climatic transitional zone from a subtropical to a warm–temperate monsoon climate. The northern boundary of Pinus taiwanensis Hayata is here; thus, climate information is well recorded in its tree rings. Based on developed earlywood width (EWW), latewood width (LWW) and total ring width (RW) chronologies (time period: 1887–2014 year) of Pinus taiwanensis Hayata in the Tongbai Mountains in central China, this paper analyzed characteristics of these chronologies and correlations between these chronologies and climate factors. The correlation results showed that earlywood width chronology contains more climate information than latewood width chronology and total ring width chronology, and mean temperature and mean maximum temperature in May–June were the main limiting factors for radial growth of Pinus taiwanensis Hayata. The highest significant value in all correlation analyses is −0.669 (p < 0.05) between earlywood width chronology and May–June mean temperature (TMJ) in the pre-mutation period (1958–2005) based on mutating in 2006. Thus, this paper reconstructed May–June mean temperature using earlywood width chronology from 1901 to 2005 (reliable period of earlywood width chronology is 1901–2014). The reconstructed May–June mean temperature experienced eight warmer periods and eight colder periods and also showed 2–3a cycle change over the past 105 years. The spatial correlation showed that the reconstructed series was representative of the May–June mean temperature variation in central and eastern China and significant positive/negative correlation with the sea surface temperature (SST) of the subtropical Pacific Ocean and the tropical Western Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean from the previous October to the current June. This also indicated that May–June mean temperature periodic fluctuations might be related to the quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO) in the tropical Western Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean. The results of this study have extended and supplemented the meteorological records of the Tongbai Mountains and have a guiding significance for forest tending and management in this area.

Tree ring data from the southern boundary of Chinese Pine (Pinus tabulaeformis Carr.) distribution where is the southern warm temperate margin, the paper analyzes the response of climate factors along north–south direction to tree growth. The results show that temperature and precipitation in May–June and relative moisture from March to June are main limiting factors on trees growth; however, the temperature in the south of the mountains and the moisture in the north of the mountains have relatively greater influence on trees’ growth. Additionally, we also found that the regional scPDSIMJ (that is scPDSI in May–June) was the most significant and stable factor limiting tree growth to be used for reconstruction. The reconstructed scPDSIMJ revealed that there were 29 extremely dry years and 30 extremely wet years during 1801–2016, and it could represent the drought variation in central and eastern monsoon region. The variation exists in good agreement with the reconstructed PDSI for Mt. Shennong and the drought/wetness series in Zhengzhou. Further research found that the droughts of May–June in central China were mainly impacted by local temperature and moisture (including precipitation, soil moisture, potential evaporation and water pressure), and then by the northern Pacific Ocean and the northern Atlantic Ocean. These results may provide better understanding of May–June drought variation and service for agricultural production in central China.

Aims: C1q/tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-related protein 5 (CTRP5) belongs to the C1q/TNF-α related protein family and regulates glucose, lipid metabolism, and inflammation production. However, the roles of CTRP5 in ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) associated with cardiac injuries and heart failure (HF) needs to be elaborated. This study aimed to investigate the roles of CTRP5 in I/R associated cardiac injuries and heart failure.Materials and Methods: Adeno-associated virus serum type 9 （AAV9）vectors were established for CTRP5 overexpression in a mouse heart (AAV9-CTRP5 mouse). AAV9-CTRP5, AMPKα2 global knock out （AMPKα2−/−）and AAV9-CTRP5+ AMPKα2−/− mice were used to establish cardiac I/R or infarction associated HF models to investigate the roles and mechanisms of CTRP5 in vivo. Isolated neonatal rat cardiomyocytes (NRCMS) transfected with or without CTRP5 adenovirus were used to establish a hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/O) model to study the roles and mechanisms of CTRP5 in vitro.Key Findings: CTRP5 was up-regulated after MI but was quickly down-regulated. CTRP5 overexpression significantly decreased I/R induced IA/AAR and cardiomyocyte apoptosis, and attenuated infarction area, and improved cardiac functions. Mechanistically, CTRP5 overexpression markedly increased AMPKα2 and ACC phosphorylation and PGC1-α expression but inhibited mTORC1 phosphorylation. In in vitro experiments, CTRP5 overexpression could also enhance AMPKα2 and ACC phosphorylation and protect against H/O induced cardiomyocytes apoptosis. Finally, we showed that CTPR5 overexpression could not protect against I/R associated cardiac injuries and HF in AMPKα2−/− mice.Significance: CTRP5 overexpression protected against I/R induced mouse cardiac injuries and attenuated myocardial infarction induced cardiac dysfunction by activating the AMPKαsignaling pathway.

Assessing the characteristics and limiting factors of tree growth is of practical significance for environmental studies and climatic reconstruction, especially in climate transition zones. In this study, four sites of Pinus armandii Franeh are investigated to understand regional climate-tree growth response in Mt. Yao, central China. Based on the high similarity of four residual chronologies and high correlations between chronologies and climatic factors, we analyzed the correlations of regional residual chronology with monthly climatic factors and the self-calibrating Palmer Drought Severity Index (scPDSI) from 1961–2016. The results indicate that the hydrothermal combination of prior August and current May and the scPDSI in May are main limiting factors of regional tree growth in Mt. Yao. The results of stepwise regression models also show that temperature and scPDSI in May are the main limiting factors of tree growth, but the limiting effect of scPDSI is more than temperature in this month. Through the analysis of the number of tree growth years corresponding to high temperature and high scPDSI, it was further confirmed that scPDSI in May is the main limiting factor on the growth of P. armandii in Mt. Yao. However, the influence of scPDSI in May has weakened, while temperature in May has increasingly significant influence on tree growth. The above findings will help improve our understanding of forest dynamics in central China under global climate change.

The plant metabolome is often considered as a bridge between genomic and phenotypic variation. Here, the authors perform metabolic and phenotypic genome-wide association studies in rice grain, and compare to prior studies on rice leaf and maize kernel, to demonstrate a new strategy to investigate complex traits.

Objective This study was performed to explore the effect of the aortic arch type on technical indicators in patients undergoing carotid artery stenting (CAS). Methods The data of 224 consecutive patients who underwent unilateral CAS from January 2011 to December 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. The requirement for placement of the guiding catheter into the common carotid artery with assistance of an angiographic catheter, fluoroscopy time, contrast agent dose, and adverse events were recorded. Results The fluoroscopy time was significantly longer and the contrast agent dose was significantly higher in patients with Type III than Type I and II arches. Significantly more patients with Type III than Type I and II arches required placement of the guiding catheter with assistance of an angiographic catheter (46.2% vs. 15.0%, respectively). The procedural success rate was significantly lower in patients with Type III than Type I and II arches (96.2% vs. 100.0%, respectively). The incidence of death, myocardial infarction, and all types of stroke was significantly higher in patients with Type III than Type I and II arches (7.7% vs. 1.7%, respectively). Conclusions The aortic arch type is an important influential factor in CAS. Type III arches are associated with more difficulties and complications.

This article investigates the nonlinear behavior of single-keyed dry joints in segmental precast bridges under direct shear loading on the basis of nonlinear finite element analysis on lots of specimens with concrete plastic damage considered. Through detailed discussion on existing research, influence factors of the ultimate shear capacity of the keyed dry joint are analyzed, a new shear capacity formula was proposed and evaluated. The feasibility and correctness of the FE simulation method were verified by comparison with the existed experimental results. Concrete tensile strength at the key root is critical to the ultimate bearing capacity of the single-keyed dry joint under the direct shear loading. Friction on the joint interface and dimension parameters of the key do not have much effect on the ultimate shear capacity. However, reasonable key inclination (tanθ) would be suggested as 0.7~0.9. In comparison with the predicted results obtained by other existed formulas, the proposed formula is demonstrated to be in perfect consistency with both tests and the FE simulation results.

Remote sensing provides an effective approach to extract soil information, whereas to construct appropriate hyperspectral model is the key for soil property estimation. In this study, the ASD portable spectrometer was used to measure hyperspectral reflectance of the soil of subsided mined-land in Jining city, China. Spectral reflectance was transformed into its reciprocal, logarithmic, the reciprocal of logarithmic and their respective corresponding first-order derivative for sensitive spectral variable extraction with respect to soil organic matter (SOM) estimation. By correlation analysis between mathematically transformed spectral reflectance and SOM, the absolute values of correlation coefficients of the first derivative at 930 nm achieved the maximum correlation coefficient. Through model performance comparison analysis, it turned out that the multiple linear stepwise regression model outperformed the simple linear regression model and the model with (1 / log (R))' as spectral variables performed best. Its variables obtained high R2 value as 0.965 and low RMSE as 0.415.

This paper proposes a vibration-based damage identification method based on 6-dof Jeffcott rotor system, which is based on harmonic balance and Newton-Raphson methods. First, the equations of motion are derived by using energy method and Lagrange principle. The crack model is based on strain energy release rate (SERR) in fracture mechanics and modified to accommodate 6-dof Jeffcott rotor model. Then, Gear’s method is used to solve the vibration responses of nominal and damaged rotor systems. By processing vibration responses, the transfer function shifts between nominal and damaged systems are taken as the input of damage identification algorithm. Finally, damage severity can be correlated with the damage parameter estimated via developed damage identification model. Numerical examples are shown to demonstrate the effectiveness in identifying the breathing crack in the rotor system.

The fusion of the heterogeneous sensors can greatly improve the environmental perception ability of mobile robots. And that the primary difficulty of heterogeneous sensors fusion is the calibration of depth scan information and plane image information for a laser rangefinder and a camera. Firstly, a coordinate transformation method from a laser rangefinder coordinates system to an optical image plane is given, and then the calibration of the camera's intrinsic parameters is achieved by “Camera Calibration Toolbox‘. Secondly, the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters are separated for calibration are proposed and compared, in which the characteristic parameters' identification is according to some characteristic points on the intersection line. Then Gaussian elimination is utilized for the initial value. Furthermore, the parameters' optimization using the non-linear least square and non-linear Gauss-Newton methods is devised for different constraints. Finally, the simulated and real experimental results demonstrate the reliability and effectiveness of extrinsic and intrinsic parameters' separated calibration, meanwhile, the real-time analysis is achieved for robotic multi-sensor fusion.

Abstract Background Toxoplasma gondii is an amphixenosis which has extensive hosts. In recent years, the prevalence of T. gondii in China has been reported, while little is known on the survey of T. gondii infection in northwest China, especially in yaks (Bos grunniens) and Tibetan mastiffs (Canis lupus familiaris). The current study survey the infection of T. gondii in Tibetan mastiffs and yaks in Qinghai Province, China. Methods The indirect hemagglutination test (IHAT) was used to examine T. gondii antibodies in 1 795 serums, including 192 Tibetan mastiffs and 1603 yaks in Qinghai Province, China. Results In this study, the seroprevalence of T. gondii infection was 8.52%. Twenty (10.42%) of 192 serums of Tibetan mastiffs and 133 (8.30%) of 1603 serums of yaks were seropositive. The seroprevalence of T.gondii infection in Tibetan mastiffs in breeding farm (1.08%) was lower than that in the field (19.19%), and the difference was statistically significant (P T.gondii in yaks ranged from 5.45% to 13.28% among the four different areas. The seroprevalence in different age groups were determined with apparent association. Conclusions The results indicated that T.gondii infection was prevalent in Tibetan mastiffs and yaks, which have implications for public health in this region. To our knowledge, this is the first seroprevalence survey of Tibetan mastiffs infected by T. gondii in The People’s Republic of China.

PurposeUnderstanding how differentiation, microenvironment, and hormonal milieu influence human breast cell susceptibility to malignant transformation will require the use of physiologically relevant in vitro systems. We sought to develop a 3D culture model that enables the propagation of normal estrogen receptor alpha (ER) + cells.MethodsWe tested soluble factors and protocols for the ability to maintain progenitor and ER + cells in cultures established from primary cells. Optimized conditions were then used to profile estrogen-induced gene expression changes in cultures from three pathology-free individuals.ResultsLong-term representation of ER + cells was optimal in medium that included three different TGFβ/activin receptor-like kinase inhibitors. We found that omitting the BMP signaling antagonist, Noggin, enhanced the responsiveness of the PGR gene to estradiol exposure without altering the proportions of ER + cells in the cultures. Profiling of estradiol-exposed cultures showed that while all the cultures showed immediate and robust induction of PGR, LRP2, and IGFB4, other responses varied qualitatively and quantitatively across specimens.ConclusionsWe successfully identified conditions for the maintenance and propagation of functional ER + cells from normal human breast tissues. We propose that these 3D cultures will overcome limitations of conventional 2D cultures of partially or fully transformed cell lines by sustaining normal endocrine function and growth regulation of the cell populations that comprise intact breasts.
