Perceived stress in Italian coaches and sport mental health were investigated during the rebooting of sport activities following the first COVID-19 lockdown period. A sample of 237 coaches from various sports were asked to answer the Italian version of the Perceived Stress Scale and the Sport Mental Health Continuum, together with reporting of demographic information. Coaches’ perceived stress levels were compared with data collected during the lockdown period. Women showed a significant decrease in their perceived stress levels compared to the lockdown period, whereas this was not true for men. Hierarchical regression indicated that, during the rebooting phase, increased age of coaches and their psychological well-being experienced in sporting contexts (a sport mental health dimension) were predictive of decreased perceived stress levels. Practical implications for practitioners working in this field are discussed in the conclusions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

EPIDERMAL growth factor receptors , *QUALITY of life , *MENTAL health , *LONGEVITY , *LIFE expectancy - Abstract
Background/Aim. Quality of life (QoL) is one of the outcome measures for patients with chronic diseases. Mental health issues often impact the QoL of cancer patients. Cancer patients with a good QoL have a longer life expectancy and are able to lead a more productive and social life. The aim of the study was to determine the association of mental health with the QoL, as well as to determine significant predictors of QoL in patients with breast cancer (BC). Methods. The study included 118 patients treated at the Specialized Breast Cancer Department of the Oncology Clinic of the University Clinical Center Niš, Serbia. The study's inclusion criteria were the presence of early-stage nonmetastatic BC and completed surgical treatment. The following questionnaires were used: the general sociodemographic questionnaire, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire, Early Maladaptive Schema questionnaire - short form (SQ-SF), Flanagan's Quality of Life Scale (QoLS), Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale, Berlin Social Support Scales (BSSS), Health Locus of Control. Results. A statistically significant negative correlation was found with emotional state, i.e., anxiety score, depressiveness score, total stress score, and physical aggression score, while QoL correlated positively with all subscales of the perceived social support (PSS) questionnaire. QoL was significantly different for patients with the following early maladaptive schemas: emotional deprivation, emotional inhibition, and a sense of entitlement/narcissism. Moreover, QoL differed significantly depending on partnership status, the presence of clinically significant anxiety, the presence of hormone-sensitive cancer, the presence of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive cancer, and time since diagnosis. Multiple linear regression was performed, and depression and PSS had the highest share. Conclusion. In our study, the presence of depressiveness and PSS were the best predictors of QoL of BC survivors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Circadian rhythms, the gut microbiome and the brain are closely connected through biochemical and physiological pathways regulating mood, immunity, and metabolism. The circadian system aligns daily gene expression and hormone release with environmental cycles while the gut microbiome exhibits its rhythms that produce key metabolites such as serotonin, SCFAs, and melatonin which are essential for brain function and emotional balance. Disruptions in these rhythms due to irregular sleep, diet, stress or environment can lead to microbial imbalances and circadian misalignment, increasing the risk of mood disorders and anxiety. This review highlights the importance of synchronised rhythms and dietary strategies for supporting mental well-being [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Pedagogical work, especially with preschool children, is one of the most stressful professions, and the incidence of stress-related illnesses among preschool teachers is higher than in the general population. The aim of this cross-sectional study, conducted between October 2018 and April 2019, was to examine the prevalence of the burnout syndrome in a representative sample of 482 preschool teachers in Serbia and the factors associated with it. For this purpose, the participants completed a questionnaire composed of six sections: the socio-demographic and socio-economic characteristics, health and lifestyle characteristics, workplace and employment characteristics; Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI); Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS). The frequency of the total burnout was 27.1 %. The frequency of burnout on the CBI was 25.4 % for personal burnout, 27.0 % for work-related burnout, and 23.4 % for client-related burnout. Multivariate logistic regression analysis with total burnout as an outcome variable showed that being single (OR: 0.18; 95 % CI: 0.05–0.58), having poor (OR: 6.05; 95 % CI: 1.05–34.91), or average (OR: 3.60; 95 % CI: 1.57–8.25) self-rated health, not having didactic/play tools (OR: 2.71; 95 % CI: 1.21–6.04), having a higher score on the BDI (OR: 1.19; 95 % CI: 1.09–1.29) or SAS (OR: 1.10; 95 % CI: 1.03–1.18) was significantly associated with the total burnout among our participants. Our study shows the worryingly high prevalence of the burnout syndrome among preschool teachers in Serbia and points to its association with mental health issues, depression, and anxiety.

CONTROL (Psychology) , *INTERNALIZING behavior , *VOCATIONAL high schools , *MENTAL illness , *SCHOOL autonomy , *NEED (Psychology) - Abstract
The aim of the research was to examine the role of maternal psychological control and dissatisfaction of psychological needs in the school environment in the development of mental health problems and problematic internet use. The study involved 342 adolescents from three vocational high schools in Zagreb (Mage = 16.45, SD = 0.533), including 174 boys. The research investigated perceived maternal psychological control, dissatisfaction of the needs for autonomy and competence in the school environment, symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress, as well as problematic internet use. The results indicate that girls exhibit higher levels of problematic internet use and mental health problems than boys. Through path analysis, a direct effect of maternal psychological control on dissatisfaction of needs and internalized problems was established. The results show that dissatisfaction of needs is a mediator between psychological control, internalized problems, and problematic internet use. Additionally, stress serves as a mediator between psychological control and problematic internet use, but only in girls. The research contributes to understanding problematic internet use among adolescents in Croatia. Specifically, the study confirms the theoretical assumptions of Self-Determination Theory that negative effects of psychological control related to success can extend to other contexts, such as the school environment, leading to dissatisfaction of needs in that environment. Ultimately, this can result in negative consequences for the well-being of adolescents, in terms of mental health problems and problematic internet use. The findings can be used to develop interventions to improve the school environment and adopt coping strategies for dissatisfaction of psychological needs to prevent problematic internet use and internalized problems. - Abstract
Premature birth, defined as delivery before the 37th week of gestation, is an increasing health problem in modern society. Prematurely born children are at a higher risk for long-term neurodevelopmental and medical issues due to their immaturity at birth, which presents various challenges for their parents. Research shows that mothers of prematurely born children experience higher levels of stress, anxiety, and depression compared to mothers of full-term children. The main aim of this study was to determine the contribution of certain sociodemographic characteristics of the mother (mother's age and education level, subjective assessment of material and health status) and social support (from family and friends) in explaining specific aspects of mental health (depression, anxiety, and stress) and life satisfaction among mothers of prematurely born children. The study involved 383 mothers of prematurely born children, with an average age of 33 years. The results showed that the mother's age is not a significant correlate of mental health and life satisfaction. Additionally, the findings indicate that mothers with higher education levels and those who assess their health status as better have fewer symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. Regarding support, the results show that support from family and friends is a significant and negative predictor of mental health. In terms of life satisfaction, mothers who assess their material and health status as better are more satisfied with their lives. Furthermore, greater perceived support from family and friends is a significant and positive predictor of life satisfaction. Sociodemographic factors and social support from family and friends together explain about 41% of the variance in life satisfaction, 29% of the variance in depression, 21% of the variance in anxiety, and 18% of the variance in stress among mothers of prematurely born children. MENTAL health services , *PUBLIC sector , *DEINSTITUTIONALIZATION , *MUNICIPAL services , *SOCIAL dominance , *HEALTH care reform , *MEDICAL care , *SOCIAL integration - Abstract
Mental health care reform is a long-term process and a key aspect of the development and progress of society as a whole. This paper aims to present an overview and analysis of mental health care services intended for adults within the public and civil sectors in the Republic of Serbia. The main method applied in this study is content analysis. The results show that certain services and measures to improve mental health care have been created and implemented, but many goals have not yet been achieved. The biggest challenges facing the provision of mental health care services - alongside a lack of financial resources - are discrepancies in regulations, the dominance of tertiary health services in providing treatment to people with mental health, a lack of services in the community, insufficient involvement of the civil sector, and weak intersectoral cooperation between different systems. Due to the lack of data transparency and comprehensive service registries, this paper presents a large - although not comprehensive - number of public, civil, and private sector mental health care services. Mental health care in the Republic of Serbia should in the future aim to overcome the gap between mental health policy and practice, promote deinstitutionalization, establish health and social services and support systems in the community, and search for protection models that will enable better social inclusion for people with mental health problems and the fulfillment of their social, economic, and all other human rights. 21. Challenges and Strenghts of Family and School with SCORE-15.
- Author

BJELOPOLJAK, Šejla
- Abstract
While a family faces a test of its own resilience on one side, the most vulnerable member – at the same time the strongest – often shows behavioral symptoms on the other side by sending distress signals that “somewhere” something is not working. If this is a child and a student, then they will surely not benefit from the linear approach of institutional support, in which they are labeled for their behavior as an individual who needs to change and adapt to the rules (of the school). The cause lies in the sub-layer of symptoms that the education staff, primarily an expert associate, understand with the help of other members of the family system. They will then try to intensify communication and mutual understanding of common goals. The aim of the research was to examine the challenges and strengths faced by families from the perspective of expert associates using descriptive, causal and assessment methods. Explication of the findings based on the SCORE-15 instrument, in this paper, we examine the quality of support from the perspective of expert associates who, observing the family, confirm the linearity of their own approach, but also the challenge of a family that does not accept changes, yet urgently needs help. The results confirm that in more than 50% of cases the observed families apply a pattern of behavior aimed at preserving traditional values (morphostasis) while resisting to accept change coming from younger generations (morphogenesis) and “without trust and family cohesion, have challenges in balancing functional relationships within the family system”. Also, that expert associates encounter difficulties in the application of the system paradigm and that the linear approach prevails in the work. As for institutional support, with an emphasis on the school system, the findings confirm linearly based actions in the direction of treating the manifestations of the observed symptoms, but not the causes that had led to challenges in children’s behavior, which ultimately leads to dissatisfaction with their own work as expert associates. Judging from the results which represent families that possess values such as nurturing truth, courage and personal resources they use to overcome problems, where protecting the youngest – children – is the number one priority, we can see there is room for establishing partnerships. The expert associates confirmed the systemic perspective when it comes to hoping that the family can cope with developmental challenges. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

model latentne deprivacije ,korisnici zajamčene minimalne naknade ,Upitnik LAMB ,mentalno zdravlje ,nezaposlenost ,Psychology ,BF1-990 - Abstract
Upitnik LAMB pouzdan je i valjan mjerni instrument čijih svih šest dimenzija u smislu konvergentne valjanosti značajno pozitivno koreliraju s mentalnim zdravljem.

MENTAL health - Abstract
Jahodaʼs latent deprivation model is the most common framework for examining the relationship between unemployment and mental health. According to this model, in modern society, employment provides a regular income and financial security and enables psychological needs that cannot be satisfied in any other way. The paper aims to test the construct validity of the Latent and Manifest Benefits scale (Muller et al., 2005), its reliability, and predictive validity in mental health. A total of 209 unemployed social assistance recipients participated in this study (Mage = 44.9; SD = 10.45; 58.9% men). The performed statistical analysis and verification of the latent structure confirmed the assumed six-factor structure of the LAMB scale on a Croatian sample of unemployed social assistance recipients. According to the results, the best fit is the ESEM model (χ² = 771.050; df = 429; CFI = .902; TLI = .856; SRMR = .039; RMSEA = .062 [.055-.069]). The LAMB scale is a reliable and valid instrument, and each of its six dimensions has a significant positive correlation with mental health. The results of the path analysis with manifest variables show that the sense of purpose, social status, and level of activity are significant predictors of mental health. This paper confirmed the conceptual latent deprivation model on a sample of hard-to-employ people and determined the validity of the LAMB scale for use in the Croatian context. The results highlight the importance of expanding support for people living in poverty by providing them with mental health support and addressing latent deprivation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background/Aim. The mental health of medical students worsens during their studies, and research shows that m edical s tudents are at high risk of depression. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of depressive symptoms and to examine the association between various risk factors and depressive symptoms in a sample of first- and sixth-year medical students at the University of Novi Sad. Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Novi Sad. The sample consisted of 308 students divided into two groups - 213 students in the first year and 95 students in the final (sixth) year of medical studies. The Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) was used to measure depressive symptoms. Within this instrument, item 9 was used to identify suicidal ideation. Self-esteem was evaluated with the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES). Additional questions were focused on selfassessed material status, lifestyle factors, and mental healthcare-seeking. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were applied. Results. The prevalence of depressive episodes among medical students was 16.6%. Almost 9% had thoughts of committing suicide. First-year students with low self-esteem were almost seven times more likely to suffer from moderate to severe depressive symptoms than those with high self-esteem. Students who had used sleeping pills or sedatives without a prescription were nearly five times more likely to have a PHQ-9 score = 10 than those who had not [odds ratio (OR) = 4.97, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.83-13.52)]. Sixth-year students with poor or average self-assessed social relationships and low self-esteem had a stronger association with a PHQ-9 s core = 1 0. Conclusion. There is a high prevalence of depressive episodes among first and sixth-year medical students, and it is associated with low self-esteem in both groups, use of sleeping or sedative pills without a prescription among first-year students, and poor social health in sixth-year students. We recommend routine screening for depression in medical students and establishing prevention and intervention programs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this paper was the examination of the police perception of the COVID-19 pandemic impact on police officers and police work - their stress, mental health, life and work satisfaction as well as to examine the police perception of citizens' behaviour during the strictest restrictive measures due to pandemic in Croatia. Research was conducted on a sample of N = 693 Croatian police officers. For the research, a questionnaire was created and was consisted of 5 subscales which examined police perception of citizens' behaviour; functioning of the police system; change in daily habits; looks to the future and mental health of police officers. The study was preceded by a preliminary study (N = 44). The results showed that at the time of the most severe restrictive rules, most police officers did not perceive significant changes in their own mental health. They also estimated that daily rhythm and habits were as same as before, except for example, they saw their loved ones less often. Most police officers estimated that the scope of work was higher and that it was more difficult compared to the time before the pandemic, but that they performed it well and that they managed well challenges of the pandemic. Furthermore, work severity, worries about pay, anxiety, private life, daily habits, and caring about the health of loved ones have been shown to be significant predictors of police stress levels. Concern about pay, stress, private life, daily habits and police solidarity have also been shown to be significant predictors of their life satisfaction. And the latest regression analysis showed that respect for the police by citizens, equipment, police solidarity, private life and stress were significant predictors of police job satisfaction at the time of the most severe restrictive rules during a pandemic. Regarding the police perception of citizens' behaviour - police officers perceived that citizens were irritated, tense, worried and had many more inquiries compared to the time before the pandemic. They also believed that citizens respected police and police powers more and that they respected pandemic rules and instructions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic is causing frightening health, psychological and economic consequences. A pandemic of this scale has changed the psychological needs of people, behavioral patterns, and it largely models perspectives and expectations of the future. We have certainly more than ever before asked questions: Did we deserve this? Is there justice? How can I believe in a better tomorrow? One of the main features of the belief in the justice of the world is its contribution to subjective well-being and mental health. Belief in a just world moderates cognitive and affective reactions to various negative or potentially stressful experiences. Therefore, with this paper we tried to determine the level of belief in a just world among elder respondents and check the relationships that this concept has with other sociodemographic variables. The study involved 100 respondents (N = 100) of elder respondents, genderequal, average age M = 70.49 (SD = 6.21), where the largest number of respondents have primary education, 61% of respondents are married and nurture contacts with their children (51%), and the largest number of respondents has been retired in the last seven years (AS = 7.68; SD = 5.79). In the research, we used the Scale of Belief in a Just World, a questionnaire for our language area was prepared and translated by Ćubela (2002) and a questionnaire on sociodemographic characteristics. Our sample has optimally expressed faith in a just world with mean values for general belief in a just world (M = 3.46, SD = .827), and personal belief in a just world (M = 3.85; SD = .837). Gender is a source of differences in the level of belief in a just world, so that women have higher scores in both general and personal belief in a just world. Respondents who have children are statistically significantly more likely to achieve higher scores on personal belief in a just world than those without children.. Strengthening positive thoughts through cultivating positive beliefs that the world is just and that the position of the victim is not eternal can potentially be used as a technique in rehabilitation programmes in the postcovid period ahead. The Job Demands-Control-Support (JDCS) model has seldom been tested in palliative care settings, and occupational well-being of palliative care professionals has never before been investigated in Croatia. Our aim was therefore to fill that gap by testing the JDCS model among Croatian nurses providing palliative care. More specifically, we wanted to see how job demands, job control, and social support at work affect occupational well-being outcomes (i.e. job satisfaction and burnout dimensions of exhaustion and disengagement from work) in terms of the model’s iso-strain and buffer hypotheses. This cross-sectional study included 68 nurses working in various palliative care institutions across Croatia, who answered our online questionnaire. Overall, the nurses did not report high levels of burnout or low job satisfaction. The only significant effect was that of job control on job satisfaction (β=0.38; P

The importance of romantic relationships in adolescence and early adulthood is unquestionable. Turbulent events on a romantic plan can manifest in the form of depressive symptoms. On the other hand, certain mental health problems undoubtedly affect the romantic competence of adolescents. The model of individual differences suggests that this connection is moderated by the individual characteristics of the person, including relational aspects of self-esteem. Given that the research of these constructs is still insufficiently represented in Croatian scientific circles, the main aim of the current pilot study was to examine whether relationship status and the relational aspects of the self predict mental health of Croatian youth. The study was conducted in Croatia in spring 2021. 194 adolescents and young adults, whose mean age was 19 years, participated in the online survey. 78% of our sample were women and 62% of our participants stated that they are in a romantic relationship. In addition to answering demographic questions and the question regarding romantic involvement, participants completed the DASS-21 questionnaire and the Relational Assessment Questionnaire. To test our hypothesis, a hierarchical regression analysis was conducted. The results were interpreted based on the sociometer theory, and show that greater relational depression in youth predicts the severity of symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress. Furthermore, involvement in romantic relationships has a significant moderating role, meaning that those young people who are in a relationship have more significant mental health problems when their relational self-esteem is low, but also when they report greater relational depression. The findings provide guidelines for future research, but also point to the possibility of promoting mental health by strengthening interpersonal skills in adolescence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction. The main goal of wellness is to promote proactive and preventive behavior that improves mental health and lifestyle. This study examined how the lifestyle of respondents was affected by the inability to visit spas and wellness centers during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Material and Methods. This crosssectional study included a total of 186 participants with an average age of 41.31 ± 10.475 years, 137 female and 49 male. We specifically designed a questionnaire to analyze the impact of the lack of wellness services during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Results. There was no statistically significant association between gender, age, education, and marital status and visiting wellness destinations. Monthly income, however, showed a statistically significant association with visiting wellness facilities (p = 0.002). There was a significant decrease in the use of wellness centers during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. A small number of the respondents believed the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic has changed their lifestyle. Conclusion. The lack of wellness services has affected the respondents’ inability to relax and get away from daily life, but the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic has not negatively changed their lifestyle (p = 0.001). The goal of this essay is to demonstrate the relationship between religiosity and personal mental health. Religion, that is manifested in person‘s religiosity is a phenomenon which we can recognize since the beginning of human history. Society, in its various facets, is strongly impacted by religion. Many prominent individuals in history have shared their observations of its impact on a man‘s psyche, that is his mental condition. This essay in part conveys the reflections of some of these individuals. For the purpose of better understanding that religiosity has on person‘s mental health it is important to define what mental health is. The experience and observations of professionals who are trained in the field of mental health demonstrate the existence of good and beneficial effects of religiosity on people‘s psyche, as well as the negative ones. However, this essay is not an exhaustive and complete explanation of them. And in the end, the term ecclesiogenic neuroses is covered to illustrate dynamic relationship between religiosity and its effects on mental conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between noise exposure, fatigue and subjective mental workload (SMWL) in bank employees. This study was performed on 113 bank employees in Iran. Noise pollution in the studied banks was estimated in accordance with the standard ISO 9612 (1997). To determine the SMWL, NASA-TLX method was used. The level of job fatigue of employees was determined using the Swedish Job Fatigue Questionnaire (SOFI-20) and the sensitivity of people to noise was measured using the Weinstein questionnaire. Finally, the predictor variables of mental workload were analyzed using simultaneous multiple linear regression test in SPSS-V16 software. The level equivalent to the noise exposure (Mean ±SD) in the workstations of bank employees was 61.30 dB-A. The Mean ±SD of the final score of SMWL in the studied employees was 71.91±12.79. The results of the simultaneous regression analysis test showed that the fatigue, noise sensitivity, and level of noise exposure predict a total of 0.61 of the variances of SMWL (P < 0.05, df = 112, f = 16.43). Increasing the noise can increase the SMWL of employees by having the effect of increasing fatigue, and this effect is increased by the sensitivity of employees to noise. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
