The demand of hydrocarbons has increased the construction of pipelines and the protection of the physical and mechanical integrity of the already existing infrastructure. Corrosion is the main reason of failures in the pipeline and it is mostly produced by acid (HCOOCH3). In this basis, a CFD code was used, in order to study the corrosion of internal wall of hydrocarbons pipeline. In this situation, the corrosion phenomenon shows a growing deposit, which causes defect damages (welding or fabrication) at diverse positions along the pipeline. Internationale.; International audience; L'objectif principal de ce travail est la simulation numérique d'écoulements axisymétriques instationnaires de fluides viscoélastiques modélisés par des lois de comportement réalistes de type différentiel: modèle de Phan-Thien et Tanner (MPTT). Les fluides sont supposés incompressibles. On a étudié un type de pétrole brut de l’Afrique du Nord. Les résultats obtenus convergent vers les résultats expérimentaux et permettent, par simulation, de comprendre la corrosion dans les pipelines.

The crude oil is a non-Newtonian fluid presenting, during its flow, phenomena which cannot be represented by the traditional models which considers the homogeneous fluid hypothesis. Hence, it is necessary to take into account the microstructure characteristics of crude oil in the behaviour law, what is more realistic. The application of a non-linear differential model in the case of crude oil flow won't be adopted. This paper deals with the modelling approach resulting from rheology of the polymer solutions. The Model of Phan-Thien and Tanner (MPTT) is considered in this paper. However, this model presents certain restrictive assumptions which seem non representative of the observed phenomena. The impact of the modification of one of these assumptions was studied and no modification on the computed stress results was observed. The obtained results of stresses are presented and discussed.
