Gelişmeleri kaçırma korkusu (FoMO) ve sosyotelizm davranışı bireyin sosyal ilişkilerini, iş performansını ve genel yaşam kalitesini olumsuz yönde etkileyen psikolojik unsurlardan bazılarıdır. Alan yazınında, olumsuz bir duygu durumu olan FoMO’nun sosyotelizm davranışıyla ilişkili olabileceğine dair bulgular yer almaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amaçlarından ilki FoMO, problemli sosyal medya kullanımı ve sosyotelizm davranışı arasındaki ilişkileri incelemektir. Çalışmanın ikinci amacı ise FoMO ve sosyotelizm davranışı arasındaki ilişkide problemli sosyal medya kullanımının aracılık rolünü incelemektir. Bu kapsamda çalışmanın örneklemi, İsveç’in Göteborg Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim gören toplam 451 (217 (%48.1) kadın, 234 (%51.9) erkek) üniversite öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Çalışma kapsamına dahil olan öğrencilere yüz yüze anket uygulanmıştır. Gelişmeleri Kaçırma Korkusu (FoMO) Ölçeği, Problemli Sosyal Medya Kullanım Ölçeği ve Sosyotelizm Davranışı Ölçeği veri toplama araçları olarak kullanılmıştır. Bulgular, FoMO’nun ve problemli sosyal medya kullanımının sosyotelizm davranışını anlamlı olarak yordadığını göstermiştir. Ayrıca, FoMO’nun sosyotelizm davranışının alt boyutu olan telefon tutkusuna olan etkisinde problemli sosyal medya kullanımının aracı rolüne sahip olduğu bulunurken FoMO’nun sosyotelizm davranışının bir diğer alt boyutu olan iletişim bozukluğuna olan etkisinde problemli sosyal medya kullanımının aracı rolü bulunmamıştır. Bu kapsamda, elde edilen bulguların hem alan yazınına hem de pratiğe önemli katkılar sunacağı düşünülmektedir.

The purpose of this study is to examine the role of personality traits (extraversion, compatibility, self-control, neuroticism, and openness to experience) and burnout levels (emotional burnout, low personal performance and depersonalization) in predicting counterproductive behaviors. For this purpose, a personal survey of 270 workers living in Ankara was conducted, and the data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS program. The results showed that neuroticism, openness to experience, and adaptability, which are subdimensions of personality variables, negatively influence counterproductive work behaviors. In addition, low personal achievement, one of the sub-dimensions of burnout variables, was found to negatively affect counterproductive work behaviors. On the other hand, extraversion and self-control, the sub-dimensions of personality, were found to have a positive impact on counterproductive work behavior. Finally, emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, the subdimensions of burnout, were found to positively influence counterproductive work behavior. The introduction of the critical factor in the prevention of counterproductive work behaviors that threaten organizational sustainability will make an important contribution to both organizations trying to sustain their existence and the organizational behavior literature.

This study aimed to evaluate the influencing variables for outcomes in patients with septic shock having culture-proven carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative pathogens. It included 120 patients (mean age 64.29 ± 1.35 years and 58.3% female). The mean Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score during septic shock diagnosis was found to be 11.22 ± 0.43 and 9 ± 0.79 among the patients with mortality and among the survivors, respectively (P = 0.017). The logistic regression analysis showed that empirical treatment as mono Gram-negative bacteria-oriented antibiotic therapy (P = 0.016, odds ratio (OR) = 17.730, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.728-182.691), Charlson Comorbidity Index2 (P = 0.032, OR = 7.312, 95% CI: 5.7-18.3), and systemic inflammatory response syndrome score 3 or 4 during septic shock diagnosis (P = 0.014, OR = 5.675, 95% CI: 1.424-22.619) were found as independent risk factors for day 30 mortality. Despite early diagnosis and effective management of patients with septic shock, the mortality rates are quite high in CRGNP-infected patients.

Introduction: The new coronavirus named SARS-CoV-2, emerged in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and caused a pandemic. Unusual clinic of viral pneumonia caused by this virus was named COVID-19 and pandemic was declared on 11 March 2020 by World Health Organization. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of pediatric and adult patients who were admitted to Ege University Faculty of Medicine (EUFM) Hospital, Izmir, Turkey with COVID-19 findings between March 2020 and February 2021 and whose diagnosis was confirmed by the SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR test. Materials and Methods: Age and gender characteristics of the patients were screened according to the services and months they admitted to the hospital, and the severity of infection was evaluated in three groups as mild, moderate and severe. In the severe patient group, the relationship between the common comorbid diseases observed in the community and survival status of patients were also evaluated. All statistical analysis performed by SPSS V.26,0. Results: One year from the start of the pandemic, 75851 people applied to the EUFM Hospital with the suspicion of COVID-19. The age median of the patients who applied was 39 (age-range;0-96) and 50.7% were male patients. SARS-CoV-2 were detected in a total of 7951 (10.5%, median age 39) patients, of them 4044 (10.5%) were male and 3907 (10.5%) were female (p= 0.796). All of the patients, 66577 (87.8%) were adults and 9274 (12.2%) were children. The rate of positivity for SARS-CoV2 in pediatric and adult groups were 7.7% (n= 716) and 10.9% (7235), respectively (p= 0.000). The percentage of patients who were classified as mild, moderate, and severe were 92.7%, 3.4%, and 3.9%, respectively. As a result of paired comparisons for all three level case groups, a statistically significant difference was found between mild cases and others (p= 0.000). However, there was no statistically significant difference between moderate and severe cases (p= 0.298). The mild-moderate-severe clinical level distributions were 3721 (50.4%), 142 (52.7%), 181 (58.7%) in male, 3653 (49.5%), 127 (47.2%), 127 (41.2%) in female, respectively (p= 0.014). All severe clinical level patients, 234 (76%) were intensive care patients. Smoking, obesity, hypertension (HT), diabetes mellitus (DM), coronary artery disease (CAD), congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic renal failure (CRF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),malignancy, and chemotherapy p values were found 0.037, 0.001, 0.052, 0.025, 0.003, 0.004, 0.006, 0.558, 0.355, 0.056, respectively. Conclusion: As a result, in a one-year period, COVID-19 showed up a mild illness in both the pediatric and adult groups without the need for hospitalization. In the community, women and men were equally infected with COVID-19, but severe-clinical-level disease was more common in men and over 60 years of age. Mortality rates were found to be high, especially in patients treated in intensive care. Smoking, obesity, DM, CAD, CHF, CRF comorbidities and being ≥60 years old, associated with poor prognosis and death. Due to the Izmir earthquake at the end of October, COVID-19 peaked in Izmir, in November 2020.

Introduction: Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU), one of the complications of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), is the most common reason for the hospitalization of diabetic patients and leads to extremity amputations and increase in mortality. DFU brings an additional physical and emotional burden to the patients and affects their quality of life (QoL) negatively. This study was organized with the aim of comparing the anxiety, depression and QoL levels of DFU patients with diabetic patients without DFU due to the limited number of the studies investigating the QoL and mental health of DFU patients. Materials and Methods: One hundred and thirty-three patients followed up in the X University Faculty of Medicine Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Department and volunteered to participate in this cross-sectional study. Besides sociodemographic information, anxiety and depression levels were assessed by Hospital Anxiety Depression (HAD) Scale and QoL was measured by Short Form 36 (SF-36). Results: Among the 133 DM patients with a median age of 60 years, 83 patients were in the DFU group. Mean age (p= 0.006, t= -2.813) and male prevalence (p= 0.0002, χ²= 13.824) were higher in the DFU group. Only physical functioning scores were lower in the DFU group (p= 0.002, Z=-3.04) while comparing SF-36 and HAD scores between the two groups. All SF-36 subscale scores of both diabetic groups were lower than the Turkish normative values (p< 0.0001). Conclusion: Finding worse QoL in the aspect of physical functioning among DFU patients reveals the necessity of interventions that will improve the DFU patients’ QoL by increasing their physical functioning, besides medical and surgical treatments for foot ulcers. In our study, it was found that all diabetic patients had lower QoL than the normal population. This finding emphasizes the need for taking steps to improve the QoL of patients with DM and especially DFU.

Diagnosis of COVID19 is based on reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing of nasopharyngeal swab (NPS) samples. As NPS sampling is a discomforting invasive procedure, studies were conducted to investigate the performance of saliva and mouthwash (MW) samples in RT-PCR. There is limited data about MW samples. We have developed a new method for concentrating gargle and mouthwash (GMW) samples to be used in RT-PCR. In our study, we aimed to investigate the performance of concentration of GMW samples in detection of SARS-CoV-2. A paired sample of NPS and GMW samples were collected from patients in 11 centers in Turkey. MW samples were concentrated using MyMagiCon-RW100® (Bio-T, Istanbul, Turkey). NPS, GMW and concentrated GMW samples were tested by RT-PCR for the presence of SARS-CoV2 and the results were compared. The viral RNA was detected in 47.5% of NPS samples, in 28.8% of GMW before concentration and in 37.5% GMW samples after concentration. Concentration of samples increased the number of samples in which SARS-CoV2 RNA was detected by 16.6%. The RT-PCR of concentrated GMW samples yielded better results than the RT-PCR of NPS samples in two centers. Concentrated GMW sampling can be an alternative method to NPS sampling in rapid and accurate diagnosis of COVID-19.

Introduction: Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) can adversely affect sexual and reproductive health, especially starting from ado- lescence, in addition to the mortality and morbidity they cause. Of these, human papilloma virus (HPV) is of great importance because it is very common and can be prevented by vaccination. More widespread vaccination can be achieved by increasing awareness and knowledge, both in society and among physicians. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the knowledge level of med school students, who had HPV vaccine, about sexually transmitted diseases.Materials and Methods: Socio-demographic characteristics and knowledge levels about sexually transmitted diseases were evaluated by filling out a questionnaire for med school students who were vaccinated in 2022 in our hospital. The dataset were put in Microsoft Office Excel program.Results: Total of 212 participants (169 females 79.7%; 43 males 20.3%, mean age 22.18 +/- 2.15 years) were included in the study. Participants stated that they heard about HPV vaccine; through classes 74.5% (n= 158), friends/family 43.4% (n= 92), and social media/TV 41% (n= 87). They defined the safest contraceptive method for STD as using condoms 68.9%, not having sexual intercourse 18.4%, and monogamy 12.7%. Question about causative relation with cancer development of listed agents answered as: HPV (99.1%), hepatitis B (70.8%), syphilis (6.6%), and Gonorrhea (3.8%).Conclusion: Increasing level of knowledge of young physicians and physician candidates about sexually transmitted diseases will certainly contribute to the awareness and vaccination of society. We believe that being aware of our shortcomings in this regard and reducing sexual health education to a much earlier age, will help solve this issue.

Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is a popular treatment option in wound care. Main principle of treatment is to apply pressure that is below atmospheric pressure on wound, continuously or intermittently. NPWT helps reducing tissue edema and it accelerates wound healing by increasing blood flow locally. We think that this method, which was initially used as an adjunctive treatment option, may be an alternative to surgical procedures such as wound debride-ment and abscess drainage in selected patient groups in current practice. In this paper, a 55-year-old female patient with a rapid clinical response to NPWT treatment after spontaneous thigh abscess that drained spon-taneously. NPWT treatment should be kept in mind as the primary treatment option, especially in uncomplicated wounds. © 2022 by Türkiye Klinikleri.

This study aims to determine the effect of a university elective course focusing on gender on students' gender attitudes, critical thinking dispositions, and media literacy skills. The research design was quasi-experimental, and the study was conducted with a pretest/posttest control group. The sample of the study consisted of 74 students who took a course on gender during the fall semester of the 2016-2017 academic year and 70 students who had similar characteristics but did not receive the course. In the pretest and posttest evaluation conducted in the first week and the last week of the semester, respectively, the Student Information Form, the Gender Roles Attitude Scale (GRAS), the Critical Thinking Dispositions Scale (CTDS), and the Media Literacy Scale (MLS) were administered to the students in both groups. The Course Satisfaction Assessment Form was administered at the end of the term to the students who enrolled for the gender course. We examined the efficiency of different simulation methods for the improvement of knowledge and skills of nursing students in the management of postpartum hemorrhage. A total of 84 nursing students participated in the study. Data were obtained using a Semi-Structured Questionnaire Form, Student Satisfaction Evaluation Form, Effective Communication Skills Checklist, Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and Skills Evaluation Form for Postpartum Bleeding Management. We suggest that the use of different simulation methods may be effective in improving the knowledge and skills of nursing students in the management of postpartum hemorrhage.

3-Boyutlu (3B) basılabilir polimerik yapılar, mevcut geleneksel yöntemlerle üretilen parçalardan daha düşük mekanik özelliklere sahiptir. UV-ışınları ve devamında uygulanan ısıl işlem adımları sırasında polimer zincirleri arasında reçine çapraz bağlanmasına rağmen, 3B polimerik yapılar üzerinde yüksek uzama ve daha fazla süneklik arzu edilen seviyelerde değildir. Son yıllarda silika, alümina, zirkonya ve çok duvarlı karbon nanotüp, grafen vb. gibi takviye malzemeleri mekanik özellikleri geliştirmek için örnek çalışmalar olmuşlardır. Bu çalışmada, fotoduyarlı reçinede yüksek dispersiyon ve homojenlik sağlayan amin ve silan fonksiyonel grubu içeren montmorillonit nanokiller, dört farklı (katkısız, %0.25, %0.5 ve %1) konsantrasyonda hazırlanmıştır. 3B lazer stereolitografi yazıcı kullanılarak test numuneleri (çekme testi, dinamik mekanik analiz (DMA) ve taramalı elektron mikroskobu (SEM)) basılmıştır. It is still a challenge to obtain high elongation and more ductile on 3D polymeric structures even though photocurable resin cross linked with among polymer chains during UV-irridation and applied post-heat treatment steps. Filler materials as reinforcement agents such as silica, alumina, zirconia and multi-walled carbon nanotube, graphene, etc. were used to enhance its mechanical properties in the past decades. In this study, montmorillonite nanoclays including amine and silane functional group, which provides high dispersibility and homogeneity in photocurable resin, are added and mixed into acyrlate based photocurable resin with four different (pure, 0.25%, 0.5% and 1%) concentration. By using a 3D laser stereolithography printer, test samples are produced and characterized by tensile test, dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). As a result, it has been observed that by increasing the concentration of nanoclay, 3D polymeric structures gradually enhances its mechanical strength compared to pure polymer structures. Due to the agglomeration observed on %1 nanoclay concentration, their mechanical strength is lower than that of 0.5% nanoclay. Also, thermal stability gradually decreases with increasing nanoclay concentration due to its insulating properties.

This study seeks to investigate the possibility the existence of a difference in terms of start and end dates of toilet training between term and preterm children as well as the possible determining factors.This study was conducted as a 5-year retrospective case (children born preterm-(32 to37 weeks) - and control (children born at term (37 weeks + 1 day)) study. The data were collected with a form consisted of questions about demographic data (12 questions) and toilet traning features (10 questions) through face-to-face interviews with the mothers. A chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were conducted to examine the data. Odds ratio was used as a measure of the relation between levels of the dependent variable. p.01 and p.05 values were assumed to be statistically significant.The study examined a total of 133 children including 59 preterm children and 74 children born at term including 60 (45.1%) boys and 73 (54.9%) girls. The possibility of starting toilet training at or before 24 months was found to be 6.4 times greater in full-term children than preterm children (OR=6.493). The logistic regression analysis, which aimed at identifying any variables that might affect end date of toilet training, found that despite the tendency to consider preterm birth as a factor prolonging the duration of toilet training, the difference was not found to be statistically significant (p= .07).This study compared full-term and preterm children in terms of start and end dates of toilet training and found that preterm children start toilet training later than full-term children. Based on the results of the study, it is possible to say that preterm birth, gender and birth order affect start date of toilet training. However there is no difference between term and preterm babies on the end date of toilet training.

Various instructional environments are used in nurse education to develop students' psychomotor and communication skills, reduce their anxiety levels, and enhance their satisfaction.To examine the effect of three different instructional environments on the development of the students' psychomotor and communication skills and their levels of anxiety and satisfaction.A prospective study design was used.The study sample consisted of 60 nursing students. Before the implementation of the study, the students' cognitive skills and trait anxiety levels were evaluated. The students were divided into five groups and five nursing activities (Leopold's maneuvers, teaching breastfeeding, family planning education, teaching vulvar self-examination and teaching breast self-examination) were specified for each group. They implemented these nursing activities under the supervision of a faculty member in the nursing skills laboratory (NSL), standardized patient laboratory (SPL) and clinical practice environment (CPE) respectively. In each instructional environment, the students' psychomotor and communication skills, state anxiety levels and satisfactions were evaluated.The median scores for psychomotor skills [NSL=73.1;SPL=81.5;CPE=88.6] and communication skills [NSL=64.9;SPL=71.6;CPE=79.0] were found to increase as the students went on practicing in a more complicated environment (p0.05). Similarly, it was determined that the students' anxiety levels decreased as they were practicing incrementally [NSL=33.0;SPL=32.0;CPE=31.0]. As the instructional environments were getting more similar to the reality, the students' satisfaction levels were found to become higher.Students who deliberately practice in the instructional environments until they are competent develop their psychomotor skills while reducing their anxiety levels, and enhancing their communication skills and satisfaction. For that reason, the development of students' competency areas is thought to be effective for enhancement of patients and health care workers' safety.

Background In this study it was aimed to compare the effects of qSOFA (Quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment) score with modified qSOFA score (PLoS One. 2018 Sep 26;13(9):e0204608) for predicting one month survival in patients with diagnosed septic shock (SS) in a tertiary-care educational university hospital in a developing country. Methods Modified qSOFA was created by adding age factor (>50 years=1 point) to patients with qSOFA scale 1 or 2 or 3 who had SS (sepsis+hypotension+adrenergic agent) and consulted by Infectious Diseases consultants between December 2013-December 2018. Arterial lactate level of >2 mmol/L criterion was added as an including criteria for SS according to 3rd International Sepsis and Septic Shock Consensus Statement after 23rd February 2016. Statistical analysis was performed via Chi-square test and a p-value Results The number of patients with qSOFA score of 1 or 2 or 3 from 527 patients are in Table1 [some of the cases were diagnosed as septic shock according to elder definition (without lactate criterion) and there was a subgroup with qSOFA score 1]. Among the >50-year aged group, the 30-day survival rate was lower in patients with qSOFA3 vs. qSOFA 2 vs. qSOFA 1 (Table1, 3x2 Chi Square test, P = 0.0057). Among the 50 years (table, Chi-square test, 12/21 vs. 39/97 P = 0.224, 11/29 vs. 75/244 P = 0.526, 3/25 vs. 22/111 P = 0.572). Conclusion In terms of survival at one month, there was a significant difference between qSOFA score 1, 2, 3 and 4 subgroups. In patients with qSOFA score of 1 or 2 or 3, being under 50 years did not have a significant effect on one-month survival. At the end of the study it is gained to be that new perspective for entrepreneurship literature and to identified the barriers of entrepreneurship with young’s perspective, Girişimcilik uzun yıllardır farklı bakışlarla üzerinde çalışılan bir konu olmuştur. Bu zaman diliminde pek çok çalışma girişimciliği tanımlamak ve girişimcilerin önündeki engelleri saptamak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Son yıllarda ise toplumumuzda genç girişimcilerin artan başarısı, üniversite gençliğinin de girişimciliğe olan ilgisini artırmıştır. Bu sebeple girişimciliğin gençler arasında daha fazla yaygınlaşması ve bu konudaki bilincin artması için de pek çok çalışma yapılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada girişimciliğe genç girişimci adaylarının gözünden bakılmaktadır. Çalışma gençlerin girişimciliği nasıl tanımladığı ve girişimciliğin önünde ne gibi engeller gördüklerini saptamak amaçlı yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla 01.03.2014 tarihinde Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi tarafından düzenlenen ve başarılı girişimciler ile girişimci adayı genç öğrencilerin bir araya getirildiği “Fikir ve Cesaretin Buluşma Noktası: Girişimcilerin Mutfağı” adlı çalıştaya başvuran öğrenciler üzerinde bir araştırma yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda literatüre girişimcilik tanımlarıyla ilgili yeni bir bakış açısı kazandırılmış ve girişimci adayı gençlerin bakış açısıyla girişimciliğin önündeki engellerin ortaya konulmuştur
