In this study, roasted spent Co-Mo/Al2O3 hydrodesulfurization (HDS) catalyst was dissolved in oxalic acid (H2C2O4) solution and optimum conditions were determined for obtaining cobalt oxalate dihydrate (CoC2O4∙2H2O). The thermal decomposition behavior of the obtained CoC2O4∙2H2O was investigated by TG/DTG-DTA analysis. The characterization of CoC2O4∙2H2O was carried out by XRD, FT-IR and SEM-EDS analytical techniques. Optimum conditions for the production of CoC2O4∙2H2O were determined as 25 oC temperature, 0.25 M H2C2O4 concentration, 1/20 g mL-1 solid/liquid ratio and 300 rpm stirring speed. CoC2O4∙2H2O was obtained with a reaction yield of 90.9 %. TG/DTG-DTA analysis carried out in dry air atmosphere showed that CoC2O4∙2H2O decomposed in two steps. In the first step that occurs between 118-196 oC temperatures, CoC2O4∙2H2O is dehydrated. In the second step, which occurs between 248-279 oC temperatures, it was determined that metallic cobalt was formed first, and then metallic cobalt was oxidized and converted into Co3O4 compound because it was performed in the air atmosphere.

In this study, the lead production from lead sulfide (PbS) by molten salt electrolysis was investigated under potentiostatic and galvanostatic conditions using NaCl-KCl and NaCl-KCl-2%Na2S electrolytes. Stable cell voltage and current were aimed with the addition of Na2S to the NaCl-KCl electrolyte. Reduction experiments were carried out at constant 700 °C temperature and for 15 min. duration. The current density was set to 250 mA/cm2 for the galvanostatic reduction experiments. It was observed that there was an increase in cell voltage in both electrolytes due to the decrease in the amount of PbS in galvanostatic experiments. In these experiments, it was determined that the reduction occurred at higher cell voltages in the NaCl-KCl electrolyte compared to the NaCl-KCl-2%Na2S electrolyte. Although the cell voltage was aimed to remain constant with the Na2S addition, the cell voltage decreased slightly compared to the NaCl-KCl electrolyte, but increased with the experiment duration as in the NaCl-KCl electrolyte. Potentiostatic reduction experiments carried out at a constant cell voltage of 3.0 V under the electrolyte decomposition voltage. The morphology of the cathode products was examined by SEM-EDS analysis and, the phases were examined by X-ray diffractometry. Higher current values were obtained in the NaCl-KCl-%2Na2S electrolyte compared to the NaCl-KCl electrolyte. Current variation with electrolysis duration showed similar trends in both electrolytes. According to structural characterization, it was determined that the metallic lead mass did not contain any impurities.

Bu çalışma kapsamında matris malzemesi çinko-alüminyum (ZA40) alaşım tozları içerisine takviye olarak silisyum karbür (SiC) tozları katılarak malzeme üretiminde ileri bir teknik olan toz metalürjisi (T/M) yöntemi ile ZA40/SiC kompozit numuneler üretilmiştir. Takviye miktarı olarak ZA40 matris içerisine SiC oranı ağırlıkça % 0-0,5-1-1,5 ve 2 olarak belirlenmiştir. Üretim aşamasında tozlar gezegen tipinde bilyeli öğütücüde 400 rpm devirde koruyucu argon atmosferi altında, oda sıcaklığında 2 saat mekanik alaşımlama işlemine tabi tutulmuştur. Karıştırılan tozlar 600 MPa basınç altında 500 °C sıcaklıkta 3 saat boyunca sıcak pres (hot pres) yöntemi ile sinterlenmiştir. Rijit hale getirilen tozlar sertlik ve yoğunluk değerleri alındıktan sonra ball on disk aşınma deney düzeneğinde 200 rpm devirde 100 metre yol alarak 10 ve 20N yükler altında aşınma dayanımları, ağırlık kayıpları ve sürtünme katsayıları hesaplanarak irdelenmiştir. Aşınma deneylerinden sonra numunelerin detaylı SEM (Taramalı Elektron Mikroskobu) resimleri incelenip oluşan hasarlara bakılarak aşınma etkileri belirlenmiştir. Sonuçlar göre artan SiC takviyesinin kompozitlerin fiziksel ve mekanik özelliklerini değiştirmiş olup aşınma dayanımına önemli katkılar sunduğu görülmüştür., In this study, ZA40/SiC composite samples were produced by adding silicon carbide (SiC) powders as reinforcement into the matrix material zinc-aluminium (ZA40) alloy powders by powder metallurgy method, which is an advanced technique in material production. As the amount of reinforcement, the ratio of SiC into the ZA40 matrix was determined as 0-0.5-1-1.5 and 2 wt. %. In the production phase, the powders were mechanically alloyed in a planetary ball mill at 400 rpm under a protective argon atmosphere for 2 hours at room temperature. The mixed powders were sintered under 600 MPa pressure at 500 °C for 3 hours by hot press method. After taking the hardness and density values of the powders made rigid, they were examined by calculating their wear resistance, weight losses and friction coefficients under 10 and 20N loads, traveling 100 meters at 200 rpm in a ball-on-disk abrasion test setup. After the wear tests, detailed SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) images of the samples were examined and the effects of wear they were exposed to was determined by looking at the damage. According to the results, it was seen that increasing SiC reinforcement changed the physical and mechanical properties of the composites and made significant contributions to the wear resistance.

This study is focused on the development of properties of ceramic wall tile bodies by changing the degree of mould filling under industrial conditions (Usak Seramik A.S., Usak, Turkey). The effects of spray dryer operating conditions and granule size distribution on the degree of mould filling have been investigated. The study measured the ceramic wall tile bodies water absorption, fired shrinkage, fired and dried strength, and porosity. The granule size and distribution were changed by adjusting the pressure and the nozzles’ diameter of the spray dryer. This study aimed to reduce grain size and quantity over 500 microns and to increase quantity between 500 microns and 75 microns by increasing the spray dryer pressure and reducing the nozzle disc diameter. It was also aimed to increase the degree of mould filling by decreasing granule size. 200 tone wall tile slips were prepared and 11,000 m2 of wall tile products were produced. The phase and microstructure analysis were investigated using an X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). As a result of this study, it was found that a lower granule size of above 500 µm improved the technical characteristics of the tiles. Ceramic wall tiles produced with lower granule grain size have high strength values, mainly due to the higher degree of mold filling. The ceramic tile production parameters in the Usak Seramik Company have been rearranged according to the data obtained from this study. This granule size and distribution set is now an industrial production standard in Usak Seramik.

In order to study these effects, the alloy sample was solution treated at 550°C for 30 minutes and then quenched into cold water at room temperature followed by artificially aged at elevated temperature of 100 oC, 185 oC and 300 oC. The ageing response of Al-6505 alloy was monitored using Vickers hardness test. The distribution of the precipitates formed in Al-6505 alloy was monitored by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed that time to reach peak hardness and peak hardness values decreased as the ageing temperatures increased. It was found that increasing in hardness values of the alloy were due to needle-shaped precipitates formation during ageing treatment. Prolonged ageing time to over-aged condition resulting in increased the size but reduced the number of precipitates; as a result the hardness of Al-6505 alloy was reduced. Autotransporter proteins, which are examined under five groups on the basis of their secretory systems, constitute the largest protein family found in Gram-negative pathogenic bacteria. The determination that all autotransporter proteins are associated with pathogenicity and virulence in these bacteria has made them the focus of molecular pathogenicity studies. Although the structural organization of autotransporter proteins and the base sequences of the genes encoding them are highly similar, their functions in the strains they are found in show a high diversity. This indicates that pathogen-host adaptation may also result from differences in protein processing and secretion system, and that new and effective approaches can be developed in the fight against pathogens. In this review article, the contemporary literature of this important protein family has been examined, and it has been tried to be interpreted as a basis for new scientific studies.

In this article, results obtained from a preliminary study that contains a set of explicit dynamics finite element analyses of a metal plate bending process are presented through 3D asymmetrical three roller models. ANSYS Ls-Dyna explicit dynamics finite element (ED-FEA) preprocessor and solver were used to carry out dynamic simulations. Explicit dynamics of a low-velocity process such as the roll-bending of a metal plate is a computationally expensive method. Since plastic deformation occurs on the plate in addition to elastic flexure to eventually possess a circular geometry, the plate material is considered a non-linear material. In this particular study, an aluminum plate was modeled with the Bilinear Kinematic Hardening model including plasticity parameters such as the tangent modulus. A very significant parameter called the mass scaling factor was taken into account to be able to define a specific time-step that was used to determine the computation time interval and the total temporal cost. However, exaggerated reduction of the computation time results in unphysical consequences. The results were presented before and after redesigning the lower and side rolls having a convex geometry and the peripheral velocity of upper roll rotation was decreased to minimize the distortion that occurred on the pre-bent side walls of the aluminum plate.

Aluminum casting alloys represents the industry's favorite alloy group, considering the issues in our country’s and the world’s priority research areas such as lightening, energy saving, recycling and environmental awareness. In recent years, it has become a necessity to develop some properties of aluminum alloys such as strength, hardness, fracture toughness, fatigue life, with the increase in usage areas in the aviation, aircraft and space industries, especially in the automotive key and sub-industry. As the technological advances in the aluminum casting industry are in parallel with the development of the material of the period, the increase in product and sector diversity limits the properties of alloys. For this purpose, many studies have been done on both academic and industrial scale and have been added to the literature. In this study, national and international research articles on aluminum casting alloys, especially in recent years, are reviewed. The articles are presented under three subheadings: studies for improving microstructural and mechanical properties, grain refinement and modification studies, computational material engineering in aluminum casting and computer aided simulation studies. In addition, in the last part of the compilation study, based on the reports on R&D, innovation and competitiveness published in the aluminum casting industry in recent years, current information and statistical data about the static and dynamic situation of our country in the aluminum casting industry on a global scale are presented., Alüminyum döküm alaşımları; hafifletme, enerji tasarrufu, geri dönüşüm ve çevre duyarlılığı gibi ülkemizin ve Dünya’nın öncelikli çalışma alanlarında yer alan konular göz önüne alındığında, endüstrinin gözde alaşım grubunu temsil etmektedir. Son yıllarda başta otomotiv ana ve yan sanayisi olmak üzere, havacılık, uçak ve uzay endüstrisinde kullanım alanlarının artmasıyla, alüminyum alaşımlarının sahip olduğu mukavemet, sertlik, kırılma tokluğu, yorulma ömrü gibi birtakım özelliklerin geliştirilmesi ihtiyaç haline gelmiştir. Alüminyum döküm endüstrisindeki teknolojik ilerlemeler, dönemin malzemesinin gelişimi ile paralellik gösterdiğinden, ürün ve sektör çeşitliliğinin artışını, alaşımların sahip oldukları özellikler sınırlandırmaktadır. Bu amaca yönelik olarak gerek akademik gerekse endüstriyel ölçekte pek çok çalışma yapılmış ve literatüre kazandırılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, alüminyum döküm alaşımları ile ilgili özellikle son yıllarda yapılan ulusal ve uluslararası araştırma makaleleri derlenmiştir. Makaleler, mikroyapısal ve mekanik özelliklerin iyileştirilmesine yönelik çalışmalar, tane inceltme ve modifikasyon çalışmaları, alüminyum dökümde hesaplamalı malzeme mühendisliği ve bilgisayar destekli simülasyon çalışmaları olmak üzere üç alt başlıkta sunulmuştur. Ayrıca, derleme çalışmasının son bölümünde alüminyum döküm endüstrisine yönelik, son yıllarda yayınlanan arge, inovasyon ve rekabetçilik konulu raporlara dayanarak, küresel ölçekte alüminyum döküm endüstrisinde ülkemizin statik ve dinamik durumuyla ilgili güncel bilgiler ve istatistik verileri aktarılmıştır.

Steels are iron-based materials containing up to 2.06% C (carbon). Manganese, Phosphorus, Sulfur and Silicon are elements originating from the raw material during production and are found in certain proportions within the steel. Other elements (Cr, Ni etc.) are added to the steel in desired amounts. These additions vary according to the desired feature and the steel material has a much wider usage area thanks to these alloying elements. The clearest indicator of this is that alloy steels are the most widely used engineering material today.In this study, 0.55 wt% graphite and 3% Mo addition as well as different (0-1 and 3 Ni) Ni were added into the Fe matrix by Powder Metallurgy (TM) method. The obtained powder material was filled into the mold in the form of a tensile specimen designed in ASTM E8M standards and compressed in one direction at a pressing pressure of 750 Mpa. The samples produced as a result of this process were sintered in the sinter furnace at 1400 ⁰C in an argon atmosphere and alloyed steel materials in different combinations were produced. Tensile test was applied to steel samples with different chemical compositions. As a result of the increase in the % (percentage) weight ratios of the Ni alloy elements, an increase in the mechanical properties was determined., Çelikler, içerisinde en fazla %2,06 C(karbon) içeren demir esaslı malzemelerdir. Mangan, Fosfor, Kükürt ve Silisyum üretim sırasında hammaddeden kaynaklanan elementlerdir ve çelik bünyesinde belirli oranlarda bulunur. Diğer elementler ise (Cr, Ni vb.) istenilen miktarlarda çelik bünyesine eklenir. Bu eklemeler istenilen özelliğe göre değişkenlik gösterir ve çelik malzeme bu alaşım elementleri sayesinde çok daha geniş bir kullanım alanına sahip olmuştur. Bunun en net göstergesi alaşımlı çeliklerin günümüzde en çok kullanılan mühendislik malzemesi olmasıdır.Bu çalışmada Toz Metalürjisi (TM) yöntemi ile Fe matris içerisine ağırlık olarak 0,55 grafit ve % 3 Mo ilavesinin yanı sıra farklı oranlarda (0-1 ve 3 Ni) Ni ilave edilmiştir. Elde edilen toz malzeme ASTM E8M standartlarında tasarlanmış çekme numunesi şeklinde kalıp içerisine doldurulmuş ve 750 Mpa presleme basıncında tek yönlü sıkıştırılmıştır. Bu işlem sonucunda üretilen numuneler sinter fırınında 1400 ⁰C sıcaklıkta argon atmosferinde sinterlenmiş ve farklı kombinasyonlarda alaşımlı çelik malzeme üretimi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Farklı kimyasal bileşime sahip çelik numunelere çekme testi uygulanmıştır. % ağırlık olarak Ni alaşım elementlerinin oranlarının artması sonucunda mekanik özelliklerde artış tespit edilmiştir.

In this study, the surface coating process of a low-carbon steel alloy of SA210 quality, which is frequently used in industrial applications, was investigated. The Air pressure arc-spray method was used as the coating method. High Ni-containing Inconel 625 alloy was used as the coating material. A sandblasted substrate and 8 bar air pressure were used during the coating. After the application, the side surface coating of the samples was examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM). In addition, the main substrate and coating hardness was measured by the microhardness method. As a result, the bonding conditions were observed at the coating-material interface. The hardness increased approximately 1.7 times. Thus, the developability of low-carbon steel by surface coating was basically investigated., Bu çalışmada endüstriyel uygulamalarda sıklıkla kullanılan SA210 kalite bir düşük karbonlu bir çelik alaşımının yüzey kaplama süreci incelenmiştir. Kaplama yöntemi olarak hava basınçlı ark-sprey yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Kaplama malzemesi olarak ise yüksek Ni içeren Inconel 625 alaşımı uygulanmıştır. Kaplama sırasında kumlama yapılmış bir alt yüzey ve 8 bar hava basıncı kullanılmıştır. Uygulama sonrasında numunelerde taramalı elektron mikroskobu (SEM) ile yan yüzeyden kaplanma durumu incelenmiştir. Ayrıca ana alt malzeme ve kaplama sertliği mikro sertlik yöntemi ile ölçülendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak kaplama-malzeme ara yüzeyinde bağlanma durumları izlenmiştir. Sertlik ise yaklaşık 1,7 kat kadar artış göstermiştir. Böylece düşük karbonlu bir çeliğin yüzey kaplaması ile geliştirilebilirliği temel olarak incelenmiştir.

In this study, the effects of pack cementation processes performed for two different durations (3 hours and 6 hours) and two different temperatures (800 °C and 930 °C) on the wear behavior of AISI H13 hot tool steel in dry and corrosive (3.5% NaCl solution) environments were investigated. The sections of cemented surfaces of the samples were examined by Scanning Electron Microscope and the hardness changes due to cementation were evaluated by Vickers micro hardness measurement. The highest hardness value (1011 HV) was reached in the sample cemented at 930 °C for 3 hours. Due to the increased surface hardness, the sample cemented for 3 hours at 930 °C has the highest wear resistance in a dry environment. In the abrasion test carried out in a corrosive environment, it was found that AISI H13 hot work tool steel, which has not been cemented, has a higher abrasion resistance., Bu çalışmada, iki farklı süre (3 saat ve 6 saat ) ve iki farklı sıcaklıkta (800 °C ve 930 °C) gerçekleştirilen kutu sementasyon işlemlerinin AISI H13 sıcak iş takım çeliğinin kuru ve korozif (%3,5 NaCl çözeltisi) ortamdaki aşınma davranışlarına etkileri incelenmiştir. Artan yüzey sertliğine bağlı olarak kuru ortamda en yüksek aşınma direncine de 930 °C’de 3 saat sementasyona uğratılan numune sahiptir. Korozif ortamda yapılan aşınma testinde ise sementasyona uğramamış AISI H13 sıcak iş takım çeliğinin daha yüksek aşınma direncine sahip olduğu anlaşılmıştır.

In this study, boronizing processes were carried out on 11 mm diameter cementation steels using four different parameters. Microstructures were analyzed using an optical microscope, X-ray device and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Hardness and wear tests were applied both to the untreated cementation steel and to all boronized specimens. As a result of boriding processes, a 4-times increase in hardness was observed in the sample boronized at 1000 ͦ°C for 16 hours compared to the sample without heat treatment. Although improvements were observed in the hardness and wear performance of the sample boronized at 900 ͦ°C for 8 hours, the coating thickness was lower than the other samples., Bu çalışmada, 11 mm çapa sahip sementasyonl çeliklerine farklı parametrelerde borlama işlemleri yapılmıştır. Optik mikroskop, X ve taramalı elektron mikroskopu (SEM) kullanılarak mikroyapılar incelenmiştir. Aşınma ve sertlik testleri hem ısıl işlemsiz numuneye hem de borlanmış numunelerin hepsine uygulanmıştır. Borlama işlemleri neticesinde 1000 °C ve 16 saat borlanmış numunede ısıl işlemsiz numuneye göre dört kat sertlik artışı gözlemlenmiştir. 900 °C ve 8 saat süreyle borlanmış numunede sertlik ve aşınma performansında gelişmeler sağlansa da kaplama kalınlığının diğer numunelere göre daha düşük olduğu gözlemlenmiştir.

This article aims to produce NiTi shape memory alloys, which show superelasticity and shape memory effect, as well as good biocompatibility and corrosion properties, in open and porous sizes ranging from 100-500 μm, which are required for use as implants. This structure of pores is necessary to allow tissue growth and fluid flow inside the implants. Many powder metallurgy methods have been used in producing porous NiTi shape memory alloys. However, the packaging pressure used in these methods has not successfully created the desired pore distribution, shape, and size. The methods by which it can be produced are costly in terms of cost. In the study, production was carried out by sintering the powder mixture poured into molds without pressure with the help of binder polymers. This sintering process was carried out in an argon atmosphere for 1 hour at temperatures 1050, 1125, and 1200 °C. The study shows that pressureless loosen sintering can produce porous NiTi alloys, which is the more straightforward method. The pore distribution and proportions were examined. Homogeneous distribution and pores in desired sizes are created. It has also been determined that the binder polymer has a space-retaining effect. It was determined at which temperature the alloy sintered at different temperatures contained the desired B2 austenite phase for superelasticity. Austenite start and finish temperatures were determined for the alloy produced at each sintering temperature. As a result of this research, it was determined which phase was denser at which temperature, and the phase transformation temperatures were found. The exact temperature measurements can be calculated by changing the sintering time parameter. In addition, the change in phase transformation temperatures can be measured by heat treatment after sintering. Porous NiTi alloys can be used as dental and medical implants thanks to their excellent biocompatibility and corrosion resistance. This method will decrease production costs, and more people will have access to this material. In general, the mechanism of sintering methods is joining the points in contact with the packaging pressure by necking. In this study, the combination of the grains with the polymer without packaging pressure with the thermal expansion mechanism reveals the originality of the study.

Krom (Cr) kaplama dekoratif ve fonksiyonel amaçlı yaygın biçimde kullanılmaktadır. Yüksek sertlik, parlak görünüm, mükemmel aşınma ve korozyon direncine sahiptirler. Cr(VI) toksik bir malzemedir. Bu yüzden Cr(VI) banyolarından elde edilen Cr kaplama, çalışan sağlığı ve çevre açısından büyük risk oluşturmaktadır. Bu yüzden benzer kalite ve özelliklere sahip, ayrıca toksik ve çevreye zararlı etkisi olmayan Cr(III) banyoları, Cr(VI)’ya iyi bir alternatiftir. Daha az zararlı ve kolay arıtılabilir olması tercih sebebidir. Bu makalenin amacı, mevcut Cr(VI) banyolarının uygun maliyetle Cr(III) banyosuna dönüştürülerek doğaya deşarjının önlenmesidir. Bunu sağlamak için 3 farklı firmadan Cr(VI) kaplama banyosu toplanmış, kimyasal dönüşüm yöntemli ile Cr(III) kaplama banyosuna dönüştürme çalışması yapılmıştır. Dönüşüm sırasında Cr kaplamanın kalitesini etkileyen önemli faktörleri belirlemek için deneysel tasarım metodolojileri uygulanmıştır. Ana faktörlerin etkilerini ve etkileşimlerini belirlemek ve dönüşüm sürecini optimize etmek için ½ kesirli faktöriyel deney tasarım metodu kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar istatistiksel olarak değerlendirilmiş ve optimum dönüşüm parametreleri belirlenmiştir.

Bu çalışmada, kaplama yapmak için ticari olarak temin edilebilen ve 33°C’nin üzerinde yeşilden beyaza, 45°C’nin üzerinde siyahtan beyaza ve 65°C’nin üzerinde maviden beyaza renk değiştiren termokromik pigmentler kullanılmıştır. Farklı sıcaklıklarda ısıl işlem süreci uygulanan kaplamalarda bağlayıcı olarak polivinilpirolidon kullanılmıştır. Hazırlanan kaplamaların renk, faz, mikro yapı analizleri ve kızılötesi termometre ile renk değişim sıcaklıkları karakterize edilmiştir. Yapılan çalışmalar sonucunda günlük hayatta yaşanılan ve yaşam konforunu değiştirmeden olası sıcaklık değişimlerinin ve risklerin bu yöntem ile tespit edilebileceği ortaya konulmuştur., In this study, commercially available thermochromic pigments that change colour from green to white above 33°C, black to white above 45°C, and blue to white above 65°C were used to make coatings. Polyvinylpyrrolidone is used as a binder in coatings where heat treatment processes are applied at different temperatures. Color, phase, microstructure analysis and colour change temperatures of the prepared coatings were characterized by infrared thermometer. As a result of the studies, it has been revealed that possible temperature changes and risks experienced in daily life without changing the comfort of life can be detected by this method.

AZ91, which is used in the production of parts in the aerospace, defense and automotive industries, can be enhanced by the addition of an alloying element or the cooling rate, due to the weak strength and formability properties of advanced technology Mg-alloys. The microstructure change in Mg alloys significantly affects the mechanical properties. By analyzing the microstructure of these alloys, a close estimate of the mechanical properties can be made. In this study, an image processing-based model is proposed that automatically recognizes the intermetallic and eutectic phases required for the analysis of microstructural properties in AZ91 Mg-alloys. The proposed method consists of two stages; In the first step, the eutectic phase template is obtained as a binary image. In the second step, the binary image containing the intermetallic and eutectic phases is obtained and the result image with only the intermetallic phases is obtained by taking the difference of these two patterns. Yapılan deneysel çalışmalarda, önerilen yöntemin ötektik fazların tespitinde gerçek değere yakın bir sonuç verdiğini göstermiştir.

Özlü kaynak telleri, yapısal ve boru hattı kaynağı, gemi yapımı, açık deniz inşaatları, petrokimya ve enerji üretim endüstrilerinde oldukça yaygın bir şekilde kullanılmaktadır. Çok pasolu kaynaklarda yüksek ısı girdileri, daha kısa üretim sürelerine neden olurken, kaynaklı birleştirmenin özelliklerini de önemli ölçüde değiştirmektedir. Bu çalışmada, yapısal çeliklerin kaynaklı birleştirmelerde ısı girdisinin kaynak mikroyapısı, sertlik, çekme özellikleri ve darbe tokluğu üzerindeki etkisini belirlemek için değişen ısı girdileriyle (0,56-2,52 kJ/mm arasında) robotik özlü özlü ark kaynağı yapılmıştır. Sonuçlar, ısı girdisinin 2.52’den 0.56 kJ/mm’e düşmesi ile mikro yapının genelinin poligonal ferritten asiküler ferrite dönüştüğünü göstermiştir. The higher heat inputs in the multipass welding result in shorter production time while considerably changing the properties of the welded joint. In this study, robotic flux cored arc welding with varying heat inputs (between 0.56-2.52 kJ/mm) was performed to determine the effect of heat input on weld microstructure, hardness, tensile properties, and impact toughness in the structural steel joints. Results exhibited that decrease in heat input from 2.52 to 0.56 kJ/mm changed the majority of the microstructure from polygonal ferrite to acicular ferrite. Furthermore, this increased by 56%, 37%, and 47% in yield strength, tensile strength, and hardness values, respectively, while decreasing by 30% and 15% in elongation and Charpy impact test results, respectively. Moreover, all welded joints displayed a satisfying toughness value higher than the requested value of 47 J, even at the test temperature of -50 °C. Finally, it can be concluded that the optimum results were obtained with a heat input of 1.26 kJ/mm, considering the minimum requirements of the AWS A5.20 standard and the expectations in applications.

Bu çalışmada, hafif metaller grubunun bir üyesi olan Al-Zn alaşımı toz metalürjisi yöntemi ile üretilmiş olup, sinterleme uygulaması sonrasında çözeltiye alma ve yaşlandırma ısıl işlemleri tatbik edilerek mikro yapı ve mekanik özelliklerindeki değişimler incelenmiştir. Çalışmada %99 saflıkta 44 µm boyutundaki Al tozları ile ağırlıkça %15 oranında aynı özelliklere sahip Zn tozları mekanik olarak karıştırılmıştır. Bu işlem sonrasında elde edilen homojen dağılımlı toz karışımı sıkıştırılarak ham şekillendirilmiş numune haline getirilmiştir. Elde edilen numunelerin boyutsal değişiminin kontrol altına alınabilmesi için, sinterleme işlemi kalıp içerisinde yapılmıştır. Sinterleme kalıbına yerleştirilen ham numuneler 600 oC sıcaklıkta 45 dakika sinterlenmiş ve sonrasında kalıp içerisinde sıkıştırılarak havada soğutulmuştur. Üretim süreci tamamlandıktan sonra çözeltiye alma, su verme ve yaşlandırma işlemi olarak üç ana başlık altında gerçekleştirilen ısıl işlem sürecine geçilmiştir. Çözeltiye alma işlemi için, üretilen numuneler ayrı ayrı 470, 480 ve 490 oC sıcaklıklarda 90 dk. tavlama fırınında tutulmuştur. Bu işlem sonrasında fırından çıkartılan numuneler hiç bekletilmeden oda sıcaklığındaki suya daldırılarak su verme işlemi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ani soğutma işlemine maruz kalan numuneler 100 oC sıcaklıkta 2880 dk. bekletilerek ısıl işlemin son aşaması olan suni yaşlandırma süreci tamamlanmıştır. Yapılan ısıl işlemler sonunda numunelerin tane boyutu mikro sertlik ve aşınma özelliklerindeki değişimler incelenmiştir. İncelemelerde 480 oC sıcaklıkta çözeltiye alınan numunenin yaşlanma süreci sonrası sertlik ve aşınma dayanımının diğer numunelere göre yüksek, tane boyutunun ise düşük olduğu belirlenmiştir., In this study, Al-Zn alloy was produced by powder metallurgy method, and the changes in microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated by applying solution and aging heat treatments after sintering. Al powders of 44 µm size with 99% purity and wt.15% Zn powders with the same properties were mixed mechanically. A green compact was formed by compacting the homogeneous powder mixture. In order to control the dimensional change of the samples, the sintering process was carried out in the die. The samples were taken into the sintering die and sintered at 600 oC for 45 mins, and after the sintering process, they were compressed in the die and cooled in air. The heat treatment process, which was carried out under three main headings as solution, quenching and aging, was started. For solution treatment, the produced samples were kept separately in the annealing furnace at 470, 480 and 490 oC temperatures for 90 mins.The samples taken out of the furnace were immersed in room temperature water without waiting. The artificial aging process was completed by keeping the samples exposed to the sudden cooling process at 100 oC for 2880 minutes. The changes in the grain size, microhardness and wear properties of the samples after the processes were examined, compared with each other.In the examinations, it was determined that the hardness and abrasion resistance of the sample, which was taken into the solution at 480 oC, after the aging process was higher than the other samples, and the grain size was lower.

Storage and disposal of the industrial waste are one of the most important problems in terms of environmental impact. Reuse of these wastes attracts the attention of other industries, both in terms of environmental protection and alternative raw material potentials. Especially in the ceramic industry, an increase in raw material costs and a decrease in raw material resources results in an increase in the importance of utilizing these wastes. In this study, Red mud, the waste of aluminum plant, obtained from Konya Seydişehir Aluminum Plant was used as an alternative raw material source. In this study, a maximum ratio of 30% red mud used instead of kaolin in ceramic wall tile recipe. Marble dust was also used instead of calcite. Samples were fired at 1130 ° C for 60 minutes under the laboratory conditions. Sintering analysis and microstructure properties of the prepared samples were investigated in addition to technological properties such as firing shrinkage, water absorption and bending strength. As a result of the mechanical tests, the firing and green strength values of the red mud added bodies increased. Numuneler 1130 ° C de 60 dakika süre ile laboratuar koşullarında pişirilmiştir. Numunelerin pişme küçülmesi, su emme ve eğme dayanımları gibi teknolojik özelliklerinin yanı sıra sinterleme ve mikroyapı analizleri de araştırılmıştır. The aim of this study was to investigate thecorrosion behaviour of annealed stainless steel mesh. Thermal oxidationtreatments were applied to steel mesh in a muffle furnace at 500 ᵒC, 700 ᵒC and900 ᵒC. Surface morphology of annealed and non-annealed stainless steel mesheswas compared before and after polarization. Roughness of the steel surface wasincreased after heat-treatment. The corrosion properties of non-annealed andannealed steel were determined using linear sweep voltammetry. The corrosion behaviourof annealed stainless steel was examined by means of a potentiostat in a 3.5wt.% NaCl, 1 M H2SO4 and 1 M KOH electrolytes. The corrosion susceptibility of heat treatedstainless steel was more than that of non-heat treated stainless steel inalkaline electrolyte. While pitting corrosion of non-annealed and annealedstainless steel was different, corrosion potential and current of steel meshwithout heat treatment was the same as the steel meshes annealed at 500 ᵒC and700 ᵒC. Toz metalürjisi (TM) seri üretim ile ekonomik ve üretim sırasında kayıpsız veya maksimum yaklaşık %3 atık malzeme üretiminin yanısıra ikincil bir işlem gerektirmemesi gibi özelliklere sahip olan müstakil üretim yöntemidir. Bu üstün özellikler sayesinde gün geçtikçe tercih edilebilirliği artmakta ve diğer bilinen geleneksel yöntemlere de alternatif olmaktadır. TM yöntemi ile üretilen parçalar, diğer yöntemlere kıyasla son şekle yakın pürüzsüz, temiz bir yüzeye sahiptir ve çoğunlukla ikincil bir uygulamaya ihtiyaç duyulmamaktadır. Paslanmaz çelikler ise oldukça iyi mekanik özellikleri, yüksek ve düşük sıcaklıklarda mekanik özelliklerini muhafaza edebilmesinin yansıra aşınma ve korozyon direncinin oldukça iyi olması nedeniyle biyomedikal endüstrisi gibi birçok sektörde sıklıkla tercih edilen malzeme grubu olarak bilinmektedirler. Bu çalışmada toz metalürjisi teknolojisi aracılığıyla 316L paslanmaz çelik matrisi içerisine belirlenen miktarlarda (yüzde ağırlık olarak 0,5) Hidroksiapatit (HA) ve Al2O3 elementi tozları tekli veya ikili olarak ilave edilmiş ve istenilen bileşim toz karışım olarak elde edilmiştir. Çalışmada kullanılan tozlar Ø32 mm çapında silindir kalıpta 700 MPa sıkıştırma basıncı altında tek yönlü olarak soğuk preslenmiş ve blok haline getirilmiştir. Presleme işlemi sonrası ham mukavemete sahip numuneler atmosfer kontrollü tüp fırında argon atmosferi ortamında 1200℃ de iki saat boyunca sinterlenmiştir. Ayrıca üretilen numunelerin mikroyapı ve mekanik özellikleri optik mikroskop ve sertlik testleri ile analiz edilmiştir. Sonuçlar, 316L paslanmaz çeliğe ağırlık olarak %0,5 Al2O3 ilave edilen kompozisyona sahip paslanmaz çelik numunelerin en yüksek sertlik dayanımına sahip olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca 316L paslanmaz çeliğe % 0,5 Al2O3, % 0,5HA ve % 0,5 (Al2O3 +HA) ilavesiyle Al2O3 ve HA içermeyen 316L numuneye göre sertlik dayanımının daha üstün olmalarına rağmen % 0,5 (Al2O3 +HA) ilavesiyle sertlik dayanımlarında düşüş gözlenmiştir.

Lithium-ion batteries have a wide range of usage areas, from transportation to the defense industry, from daily usage to space applications. The widespread use of consumer electronics day by day also increases the need for this critical strategic technology, which allows us to live at almost every point of our lives without binding factors such as cables. But this technology also has many limitations, which dominate our lives so much that it needs to be overcome. Low cycle life due to poor electrochemical efficiency of electrode materials is one of these limitations. At the same time, energy density constraints are also an obstacle to many technological developments. Therefore, finding new materials with higher capacity and higher cycle life has become inevitable to meet the demands. Moreover, developing novel production techniques suitable for the materials used in the battery is also critical. Cylindrical cells are mostly used commercially in the market due to their easy and fast production technics and relatively safe components. However, the energy density and capacity limit of this architecture pushes the market to use alternative cell designs. There are different cell structures in the lithium-ion battery industry apart from cylindrical cells, such as button type, pouch type, and prismatic type. Among them, pouch cells have rising star geometry due to their unique properties and flexible production style. But many parameters still need to be overcome in pouch cells. In this study, the NMC811 cathode has been selected to investigate some critical parameters in lithium-ion pouch cells. The effects of dynamic conditions such as electrode film thickness, variable temperatures, and current rates on electrochemical performance were analyzed. Finally, a cycle life test was performed on the cell with optimum parameters.

Corrosion is said to be a function of the material and the environment it is exposed to. If that is the case, it follows therefore that corrosion inhibitor efficiency could also be a function of the material and the environment. This work focuses on the effect of aloe vera extract on 0.39%C steel in seawater. Aloe vera extracts of 1%, 2%, 3% and 4% concentrations gotten from 2kg of aloe vera plant were added to the corrosive media. They were exposed for a period of 1008th hours. The gravimetric and the potentiometer method was used for the analysis. The results from the gravimetric study shows that there was an increase in the inhibitor efficiency as the concentration of the extracts increased, but decreased with prolonged exposure time. Samples were retrieved from the environment at an interval of 168th hours. The extract was found to be more effective in seawater at 4% concentration with 85% inhibitor efficiency at 168th hour. The potentiometer results also affirmed that the sample with 4% aloe vera addition had the highest efficiency with about 97%. Though there was shift at both the anodic and cathodic slope, the inhibitor was observed to act more as an anodic inhibitor. The result therefore shows that aloe vera can act as an inhibitor to 0.39%C steel in seawater.

Porselen izolatörlerin üretiminde, diğer porselen ürünlerine benzer hammaddeler kullanılsa da nihai ürünün sağlaması gereken teknik ve karakteristik özellikler bakımdan son derece özel ürünlerdir. Kuvars esaslı porselen izolatörler ise alçak ve yüksek gerilim kademelerinde kullanılmaktadır. Kuvars esaslı porselenlerde ana bileşen olan kuvars bünyenin teknik ve karakteristik özellikleri üzerinde son derece önemli rol oynamaktadır. Bu çalışmada farklı tane boyutlarındaki kuvars hammaddesinin porselen izolatör bünyesindeki etkileri incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla elek üstü bakiyeleri en fazla %1 olan 45µ, 63 µ ve 100 µ tane boyutuna sahip kuvarsla porselen izolatör çamuru hazırlanmıştır. Hazırlanan reçetelerin fiziksel ve termal özellikleri analiz edilmiştir. Kuvars tane boyutu yükseldikçe pişme ve kuru mukavemet değerlerinde gözle görülür bir düşüş belirlenmiştir. Tane boyutunun yükselmesiyle, su emme ve görünür porozite yükselmiş, pişme küçülmesi azalmıştır. Çalışma sonunda kuvars tane boyutu yükseldikçe temel fiziksel özellikler kötüleşmektedir. İdeal çalışılacak tane boyutu 45 mikron olarak belirlenmiştir., Porcelain is the most common material used in the manufacture of insulators. Although raw materials similar to other porcelain products are used in the production of porcelain insulators, they are extremely special products in terms of technical and characteristic features that the final product must provide. Quartz-based porcelain insulators are used in low and high voltage levels. Quartz, which is the main component in quartz-based porcelain, plays an extremely important role on the technical and characteristic features of the body. In this study, the effects of quartz raw material in different grain sizes on the porcelain insulator were investigated. For this purpose, porcelain insulator sludge was prepared with quartz with 45µ, 63 µ and 100 µ grain sizes with a maximum 1% residue. The physical and thermal properties of the prepared recipes were analyzed. As the quartz grain size increased, a significant decrease was determined in the firing and dry strength values. With increasing grain size, water absorption and apparent porosity increased, and firing shrinkage decreased. At the end of the study, as the quartz grain size increases, the basic physical properties deteriorate. The ideal grain size to be studied was determined as 45 microns.

Neutron shielding is of utmost importance in radiation environments such as nuclear reactors and particle accelerators and in fields such as health physics. In this work, the percentages of neutrons stopped by shields comprising of boron minerals (HDPE/B2O3, Epoxy/Priceite, Epoxy/Colemanite, Epoxy/Kernite) in their composition against neutron radiation of different energies is investigated using two separate MC simulations. Different layer combinations of epoxy based borated shielding materials with HDPE sheets were then simulated to find the optimum shielding configuration. In addition, radioactivation studies were carried out for these designs. Seramik sağlık gereçlerinde kullanılan klozet kapakları büyük çoğunlukta üreformaldehit bazlı hammaddelerden üretilmektedir. Yenilikçi tasarımlar daha fonksiyonel, daha ince kapaklara doğru gitmektedir. Ancak üreformaldehit gerek işlenebilme zorluğu gerekse mukavemetin yeterli olmamasından dolayı günümüz ihtiyaçlarını karşılayacak özelliklerdeki kapak modellerinin tasarım ve üretimine olanak sağlayamaması, farklı özellikleri bir arada barındıran kompozit malzemelere olan talebi günden güne arttırmaktadır. Bu çalışmada üreformaldehit yerine uzun yıllardır otomotiv başta olmak üzere elektrik, inşaat, ev cihazları gibi sektörlerde yaygın kullanılan SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) yöntemi ile üretilmiş kompozit malzemeler değerlendirilmiştir. İstenen ürün özelliklerini sağlayan uygun SMC kompozisyonlarının belirlenmesi konusunda çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Ayrıca Ansys yazılım programı kullanılarak klozet kapakları için maksimum deformasyon ve gerilme değerleri bulunmuştur. In this study, instead of urea-formaldehyde, composite materials were produced with SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) method, which has been widely used in sectors such as electricity, construction, and household appliances and especially in automotive many years, were evaluated. Studies have been carried out to determine suitable SMC compositions that provide the desired product properties. In addition, maximum deformation and stress values of toilet seat covers were found in the Ansys software program. In this way, higher impact strength (145 MPa) and thinner product cross-section (4 mm) were obtained when compared to toilet seat covers made with urea-formaldehyde.

With the rapid development of the microelectronics industry, many efforts have been made to improve glass-ceramics' sinterability, thermal conductivity, and dielectric properties, which are essential components of electronic materials. In this study, low-alkali borosilicate glass-ceramics with PVA addition and glass-BN composites were prepared and successfully sintered at 770 degrees C. The phase composition, density, microstructure, thermal conductivity, and dielectric constant were investigated. It was shown that PVA addition contributes to the densification process of glass-ceramics (~88% relative density, with closed/open pores in the microstructure) and improves the thermal conductivity of glass material from 1.489 to 2.453 W/K.m. On the other hand, increasing BN addition improves microstructures by decreasing porosities and thus increasing relative densities. A glass-12 wt. % BN composite sample exhibited almost full densification after sintering and presented apparent and open pores of 2.6 and 0.08%, respectively. A high thermal conductivity value of 3.955 W/K.m and a low dielectric constant of 3.00 (at 5 MHz) were observed in this material. This study focuses on optimizing cutting parameters effective on cutting force (Fc) and surface roughness (Ra) in the machining of AISI P20 steel. The turning experiments have been performed in CNC lathe at three different cutting speeds (Vc) (120, 180, and 240 m/min), three different feed rates (f) (0.12 0.21 and 0.3 mm/rev), and three different depths of cut (a) (0.4, 0.8, and 1.2 mm) according to Taguchi L9 orthogonal array. The effect levels of the cutting parameters on Fc and Ra have been determined with analysis of variance (Anova). The analysis results indicate that the depth of cut is the most significant parameter affecting Fc while the feed rate is the most significant parameter affecting Ra. Moreover, the result analysis shows that cutting speed of 240 m/min, feed rate of 0.12 mm/rev, and depth of cut of 0.4 mm) factor levels were the optimum cutting parameters for the output parameters (Fc and Ra). Porselen bünyeler sahip oldukları üstün teknik özellikleri (fiziksel, mekanik, ısıl vb.) nedeni ile pek çok alanda tercih edilen seramik ürünler arasında yer almaktadır. Çoğunlukla en az 1200°C ve üzerindeki sıcaklıklarda pişirilen porselen bünyelerin pişirim süreleri ürün tasarımı, boyutu ve bünye kompozisyon tasarımına bağlı olarak değişmektedir. Ülkemizde gün geçtikçe artan enerji maliyetleri pişirim sıcaklığı yüksek ve uzun pişirim sürelerinde sinterlenen bu ürünlerin üretim maliyetlerini olumsuz yönde etkilemektedir. Bu düşünceden hareketle yüksek alüminalı porselen bünyelerin sinterleme sıcaklıklarının düşürülmesinin enerji maliyetleri ve verimlilik açısından önemi büyüktür. Çalışmada yüksek alüminalı porselen bünyelerde spodumen kullanımı araştırılmış ve bünyelerin teknik özelliklerine etkileri incelenmiştir. Standart yüksek alüminalı porselen bünye reçetesine kademeli spodumen ilave edilerek yeni bünye reçeteleri oluşturulmuştur. Hazırlanan bünyeler 1225°C’de 14 saat süre ile endüstriyel tünel fırında pişirilmişlerdir. Hazırlanan porselen çamurların reolojik özellikleri (yoğunluk, viskozite, tiksotropi, kalınlık alma) ölçülmüş, pişirilen bünyelerin fiziksel ve ısıl özellikleri incelenmiştir. Bünyelerin ısıl genleşme katsayıları dilatometre cihazı ile belirlenmiştir. Sinterleme sürecinde bünyelerde gelişen fazlar X-ışınları difraktometresi ile belirlenmiş, mikroyapıları SEM (taramalı elektron mikroskobu) ile incelenmiştir. Sonuçlara göre yüksek alüminalı porselen bünyede spodumen kullanımı çamurun reolojik özelliklerini değiştirmezken bünyelerin pişmiş özellikleri üzerine belirgin etkileri olmuştur. Spodumen ilavesi ile birlikte bünyelerin sinterlenme davranışı gelişmiş, bünyelerin su emmesi düşmüş ve pişme küçülmesi artmıştır. Bununla birlikte bünyelerin mekanik davranışlarında da belirgin iyileşme tespit edilmiştir. Ancak spodumen kullanımı bünyelerin deformasyonunda önemli bir artışa neden olmuştur. Sonuç olarak yüksek alüminalı porselen bünyelerde spodumen kullanımı ile bünyelerin teknik özellik ve mikroyapılarının kontrolü ile pişirim koşullarında pişirim sıcaklık ve süresinin azaltılması yönünde optimizasyonların yapılabileceğini göstermektedir., Porcelain bodies are among the preferred ceramic products in many fields due to their superior technical properties (physical, mechanical, thermal, etc.). The firing cycles of porcelain bodies, which are mostly fired at temperatures of at least 1200°C and above, vary depending on the product design, size, and body compositions. Increasing energy costs in the world have a negative impact on the production costs of these products, which are sintered at high firing temperatures and long firing cycles. Based on this idea, reducing the sintering temperatures of high alumina porcelain bodies will be of great importance in terms of energy costs and efficiency. In the study, the use of spodumene in high alumina porcelain bodies was investigated and its effects on the technical properties of the bodies were investigated. New body recipes were created by gradually adding Spodumene to the standard high alumina porcelain body recipe. The prepared bodies were fired in an industrial tunnel oven for 14 hours at 1225°C. The rheological properties (density, viscosity, thixotropy, thickness) of the prepared porcelain clays were measured, and all physical properties of the fired bodies were examined. The thermal expansion coefficients of the structures were determined by the dilatometer. The developed phases in the bodies during the sintering process were determined by X-ray diffractometry, and their microstructures were examined by SEM (scanning electron microscope). According to the results, while the use of spodumene in high alumina porcelain body did not change the rheological properties of the slip, it had significant effects on the fired properties of the bodies. With the addition of spodumene, the sintering behavior of the bodies improved, the water absorption of the bodies decreased and the firing shrinkage increased. In addition, a significant increase in the mechanical behavior of the bodies was detected. However, the use of spodumene caused a significant increase in the deformation of the bodies. As a result, it shows that optimizations can be made in order to reduce the firing temperature and time in firing conditions by using spodumene in high alumina porcelain bodies and by controlling the technical properties and microstructures of the bodies.

21NiCrMo2 çeliği korozyona dayanımı düşük bir çeliktir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, katı borlama yöntemi ile 21NiCrMo2 çeliğinin korozyon dayanımı artırmaktır. 21NiCrMo2 çeliği 700oC sıcaklık ve 4, 8, 12 ve 16 saat sürelerde borlama işlemine tabi tutulmuştur. Borlama ajanı olarak yerli borlama ajanı olan Baybora-1 kullanılmıştır. Numunelerin metal-borür tabakası ve geçiş tabakasının morfolojisi SEM cihazı ile belirlenmiştir. Borlanmış numunelerin yüzeyinde oluşan metal-borür tabakasının faz analizleri XRD cihazı ile yapılmıştır. Borlanmış ve borlanmamış çelik numunelerin korozyon deneyi ASTM G31-72 standardına göre sıcak sülfirik asit çözeltisinde yapılmıştır. Numunelerin korozyon dayanımı ağırlık kaybı yöntemi ile belirlenmiştir. Borlanmış numunelerin korozyon dayanımı 323 mm/yıl iken borlanmamış numunenin 491 mm/yıl olduğu belirlenmiştir., 21NiCrMo2 steel is a steel with low corrosion resistance. The aim of this study is to increase the corrosion resistance of 21NiCrMo2 steel by solid boriding method. 21NiCrMo2 steel was borided at 700oC and for 4, 8, 12 and 16 hours. Baybora-1, a domestic boronizing agent, was used as the boronizing agent. The morphology of the metal-boride layer and the transition layer of the samples were determined by SEM device. The phase analyzes of the metal-boride layer formed on the surface of the boronized samples were made with the XRD device. Corrosion test of boronized and non boronized steel samples was carried out in hot sulfuric acid solution according to ASTM G31-72 standard. The corrosion resistance of the samples was determined by the weight loss method. While the corrosion resistance of boronized samples was 323 mm/year, it was determined that the non-boronized sample was 491 mm/year.

In this study, the static behavior of structures with negative Poisson's ratio, which was the subject of many new researches as engineering materials, was determined numerically. The sandwich composite structures formed by placing ABS and PLA core materials between the Al plates were modeled with a negative Poisson ratio structure. In addition, for the comparison of the composite material, the analysis of the sandwich material components was carried out under the same conditions. Static analyzes were investigated with the Ansys Workbench program. A negative Poisson ratio behavior was observed in all compositions under the static influence, depending on the core geometry. The lowest displacement and stress levels were obtained in the sandwich composite structure with PLA core material., Bu çalışmada, mühendislik malzemesi olarak pek çok yeni araştırmanın konusu olan negatif poisson oranına sahip yapıların statik davranışı sayısal olarak belirlenmiştir. Among the stainless steels, the most widely used group is austenitic stainless steels. The prominent reason why austenitic stainless steels are preferred in welded stainless steel fabrications is their good weldability. AISI/SAE 304L austenitic stainless steels exhibit adequate corrosion resistance in oxidizing environments. AISI/SAE 304L austenitic stainless steels are also used in filling interfaces of runners between the Tri-Nitro-Toluen filling vessel and ammunitions in defense industry. For the manufacture of the runners, the stainless steel plates and the stainless steel pipes are mainly joined by fusion welding. These runners are cleaned with hot tapping water at 70°C after each filling of ammunitions by TNT so that cleaning operation can deteriorate the corrosion properties of runners especially weld zones. Austenitic stainless steel weldments include basically delta-ferrite and austenite phases on weld regions. Delta ferrite phase exhibits resistance to chloride bearing medias while austenite phase is more resistive to high temperature oxidizing ambientsIn this study; 3 mm thick 304L austenitic stainless steel plates and rings are welded to each other with two different filler weld wires of ER316L and ER2209 by Tungsten Inert Gas welding method under pure argon shielding gas. Weld metals and heat-affected zones of welded joints were examined using optical metallurgical microscope. It has been determined that the additional filler weld wires have changed the weld metal and the heat affected zone microstructures and phase distributions dominantly. Microstructures of all welded joints have been compared. Besides, phase distributions of weld metals and heat effected zones are made by image analysis software and Schaefflers diagram. ER2209 welding filler metal increased the phase fraction of delta-ferrite in weld metals while it decreased the austenite phase fraction as compared to ER316L filler metal.

Magnezyum alaşımları yüksek özgül dayanımları nedeni ile otomotiv ve havacılık sektörlerinde sıklıkla kullanılan alaşımlardır. Alaşımların aşınma ve korozyon dayanımlarını arttırmaya yönelik yoğunlaşan çeşitli çalışmalar sürdürülmektedir. Yapılan çalışma, WE43 magnezyum alaşımın tantal-oksit ile kaplanması ve karakterizasyonunu içermektedir. WE43 magnezyum alaşımına RF sıçratma yöntemi ile tantal-oksit kaplamalar uygulanmıştır. Kaplama işlemi öncesi yüzeylere uygulanan asit aşındırma işleminin etkisini gözlemleyebilmek amacıyla, H2SO4 ve HCl asit karışımları kullanılmış ve numuneler asit ile 25, 45, 65 ve 85 °C’de parlatma sonrası asit aşındırma işlemine tabi tutulmuştur. Uygulanan asit aşındırma işlemlerinin kaplanmış yüzeylere etkileri çalışma kapsamında incelenmiştir. Uygulanan işlemlerin kaplama öncesi yüzey morfolojisine, yüzey ile kaplama tabakası arasında oluşan metalürjik bağa ve kaplama sonrası yüzey özelliklerine olan etkileri taramalı elektron mikroskobu, enerji dağılım spektroskopisi, X-ışını taraması ve kesitten alınan kaplama kalınlık ölçümleri ile incelenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda, kaplama öncesi yüzeylerde farklılıklar olduğu, çatlaklı ve aşınmış alanlar gözlemlendiği ve buna rağmen yüzeylerde çatlaksız/gözeneksiz, sürekliliği olan ve homojen kaplama tabakaları elde edildiği tespit edilmiştir. Uygulanan yüzey işlemleri yüzey kimyasında ve morfolojisinde çeşitli değişikliklere neden olmuştur. Kaplama kalınlıkları 2,52±0,02 µm olarak elde edilmiştir., Magnesium alloys are frequently used in the automotive and aerospace industries due to their high specific strength. Various studies are carried out to increase the wear and corrosion resistance of alloys. The study includes the coating and characterization of WE43 magnesium alloys, with tantalum-oxide. Tantalum-oxide coatings were applied to WE43 magnesium alloy by RF sputtering method. In order to observe the effect of acid etching applied to the surfaces before the coating process, H2SO4 and HCl acid mixtures were used and the samples were subjected to acid etching after polishing at 25, 45, 65 and 85 °C, with in contact with the acid. The effects of the applied acid etching processes on the coated surfaces were investigated within the study. The effects of the applied processes on surface morphology before coating, the metallurgical bond formed between the surface and coating layer and the surface properties after coating were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, energy distribution spectroscopy, X-ray scanning and coating thickness measurements taken from the cross section. As a result, it was determined there were differences in the surfaces before the coating, cracked and worn areas were observed, and nevertheless, crack-free/non-porous, continuous and homogeneous coating layers were obtained on the surfaces. The applied surface treatments caused changes in the surface chemistry and morphology. Coating thicknesses were obtained as 2.52±0.02 µm.

Toz metalurjisi yöntemi ile AZ91-Karbon nanotüp takviyeli metal matrisli kompozitlerin üretimi ve aşınma davranışlarının incelendiği bu çalışmada, AZ91 Magnezyum alaşımına çok duvarlı karbon nanotüp ilave edilerek kompozit tozlar üretilmiştir. Üretilen kompozit tozlar soğuk preslenerek ön şekillendirilmiş arkasından 550 ºC’de 1 saat sinterlenmiştir. Sinterlenen kompozitlerin karakterizasyon çalışmaları yapılmıştır. Pin-on disk tipi aşınma cihazında 30 N yük altında üç farklı kayma mesafesinde aşınma testleri yapılmıştır. Yapılan çalışmalar sonucunda karbon nanotüp ilave edilen kompozitlerde sertlik değerinin arttığı en yüksek sertlik %0,25 karbon nanotüp ilave edilen kompozitte elde edilmiştir. Ancak yapılan aşınma testleri sonucunda takviye elemanının yapı içerisinde homojen dağılmaması ve oluşan aglomerasyonlar sonucu ilave edilen takviye miktarıyla aşınmanın arttığı, ağırlık kaybındaki en yüksek değer %2 karbon nanotüp takviyeli kompozitte elde edilmiştir., In this study, production, and wear behaviours of AZ91-carbon nanotube reinforced metal matrix composites by powder metallurgy method were investigated. Composite powders were produced by multi wall carbon nanotube powders (four different amount) were added to AZ91 Mg. Produced composite powders were pre-formed by cold press then they were sintered at 550 ºC for 1 hour. Sintered samples were characterized. Wear tests were done by pin-on disc type wear device under 30 N load with three sliding distances. At the end of the study, it was seen that hardness values were increased with increasing carbon nanotube amount. The maximum hardness value was measured in the 0.25% carbon nanotube added sample. However, according to wear test, the weight loss values were increased with increasing reinforcement amount due to non-homogenous distribution and occurred agglomeration of reinforcement. The maximum weight loss values were measured in added 2 % sample.

In this study, ceramic reinforced bronze matrix functionally graded materials (FGMs) were produced by using powder metallurgy method. B4C, TiC, Mo2C and SiC were selected as ceramic reinforcements. The samples with compositions bronze + 10% SiC, bronze + 10% B4C, bronze + 10% Mo2C, and bronze + 10% TiC were sintered at 750 °C for 90 minutes. Investigations were carried out to assess the mechanical properties and microstructures of specimens. For this purpose, optical microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM-EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis were applied for microstructure investigations. Sample hardness testing was carried out with the help of Vickers hardness testing device. Composite layers of ceramic particles were homogeneously distributed. Little pore formation was observed. While the upper and lower composite layers of the FGMs produced were hard, the middle layer was found to be ductile. The highest hardness value was reached in the B4C reinforced FGM.

With the introduction of technology, its cross-industry spread is increasing and is accelerating the development of the field of biofabrication in medicine. Recent advances in additive manufacturing are facilitating the further development of patient-specific healthcare solutions. Especially with regard to personalized treatment methods, production planning makes it preferable in healthcare applications. The customization of many healthcare products and services, such as implants, drug delivery devices, medical instruments, and prostheses, is extremely difficult, if not impossible, without additive manufacturing technologies. Today, additive manufacturing; is a well-known technology for making real three-dimensional objects using metal, ceramic, polymer materials, and biomaterials that can be subjected to a variety of applications. This article presents the medical applications of additive manufacturing, tissue and organ development with bioprinting technology, the range of materials in the medical field, and future research needs for this technology.

The matrix material ZA27 alloy was used in the production of metal matrix composite material. SiC and graphite were used as reinforcement materials in the study. ZA27 alloy with 10% SiC, 2.5% , 5% , 7.5% and 10% graphite and 10% SiC + 2.5% , 5%, 7.5%, 10% graphite reinforcement by weight hybrid composite material was produced. The microstructures were examined by SEM and EDS and the results were discussed. In the investigations, SiC and graphites had a heterogeneous nucleating effect during the solidification of the alloy. In addition, thin dendrites showed a tendency to become spherical by heat treatment.

Alüminyum alaşımları havacılık, savunma sanayi, otomotiv gibi birçok alanda kullanılmaktadır. Son yıllarda alüminyumun tercih edilmesininin sebepleri hafif olması, işleme kolaylığı sağlaması ısı ve elektriği bakır kadar iyi iletmesidir. Alüminyum alaşımlarının mühendislik malzemesi olarak kullanılabilmesi için, ısıl işlem sürecinin başarılı bir şekilde tamamlanması gerekmektedir. Alüminyum alaşımlarının farklı kimyasal analizlere sahip alüminyum alaşımlarının ısıl işlem süreçleri de farklılık göstermektedir. Alüminyum alaşımlarından EN AC 46000 (AlSi9Cu3) alaşımına uygulanan T6 ısıl işleminde, farklı sürelerde yapay yaşlandırma yapılmıştır. Yapılan yapay yaşlandırma da metalografik ve mekanik özelliklere etkisi ele alınmıştır. Seçilen EN AC 46000 (AlSi9Cu3) alüminyum alaşımı T6 ısıl işlemine tabi tutularak, yaşlandırma sıcaklık ve süre eğrileri çıkartılmıştır. Yaşlandırma sıcaklığı ve süresinin mekanik özelliklere etkisinin incelenmesinde sertlik ölçümleri ve çekme dayanımı esas alınmıştır. Bulgular sonucunda EN AC 46000 (AlSi9Cu3) malzemesinin sertlik değerlerinde ve çekme dayanımında değişimler gözlemlenmiştir.

Metal matrix composites are widely used in various fields such as aerospace, defense industry, automobiles and other important structural applications. Aluminum and its alloys have been increasingly used in the industry thanks to their lightness, strength and easy formability. Al2O3, SiC, TiC, MgO, CNT and B4C are widely used as reinforcing elements in aluminum matrix composites. In this study, mathematical and finite element modeling was used to examine the mechanical properties of Al-based metal matrix composites. Based on the pressure, sintering temperature and sintering time, the relative densities were successfully analyzed using the adaptive neuro-fuzzy extraction system (ANFIS) method and the artificial neural networks (ANN) method. The porosity content of aluminum-magnesium matrix composites produced by powder metallurgy method and reinforced with SiC were investigated using the ANFIS method. In the ANFIS approach, four input parameters, weight% SiC ratio, used pressure (MPa), sintering temperature (C), sintering time (min) and one output parameter porosity (%) ratio were used. Correlation coefficients and statistical error rates of the analyzed dataset were found to be good. The relative density values of Al-Mg-Al2O3 composites produced by powder metallurgy method were examined by ANN method. It can be said that the estimation rate of the system is 81% and that it is within acceptable limits. Besides, the relative density of composites with Al2O3 and SiC was examined using Taguchi method and the results were compared., Metal matris kompozitler havacılık, savunma sanayii, otomobiller ve diğer önemli yapısal uygulamalar gibi çeşitli alanlarda yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu alışmada, Al-bazlı metal matris kompozitlerin mekanik özelliklerini incelemek için matematiksel ve sonlu eleman modellemesi kullanılmıştır. Toz metalürjisi yöntemiyle üretilen ve SiC ile güçlendirilmiş alüminyum-magnezyum matrisli kompozitlerin porozite içeriği ANFIS yöntemi kullanılarak incelenmiştir. ANFIS yaklaşımında, dört giriş parametresi, ağırlıkça %SiC oranını, kullanılan basıncı (MPa), sinterleme sıcaklığını (⁰C), sinterleme zamanını (dk) ve bir çıkış parametresi porozite (%) oranını kullanılmıştır. Analizlerin korelasyon katsayılarının ve istatiksel hata oranlarının iyi olduğu görülmüştür. Toz metalürjisi yöntemiyle üretilen Al-Mg-Al2O3 kompozitlerin relatif yoğunluk değerleri ANN yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Sistemin tahmin oranın %81olduğu ve kabul edilebilir sınırlar içerisinde olduğu söylenebilir. Ayrıca, Taguchi yaklaşımı ile her iki güçlendirici içeren kompozitlerin relatif yoğunluklar analiz edilmiştir ve sonuçlar karşılaştırılmıştır.

The harmful effect of agricultural waste has been intensified over the last decade and impacts the environment every passing day. Rice husk waste is a major problem in Turkey and the far east countries. Due to the economic dependence of the mass cultivation and the production of rice, the disposal of the waste appears both time and money consuming. Alternative methods sought over the years and the implementation of the rice husk in the production of composites is seen as a promising method. RHA is a burning residue of rice husk and the implementation of RHA in the production of aluminum composites gained attention in recent years. In this study, aluminum composites having 5 wt.% Al2O3 reinforcement and 5 wt.% Al2O3/0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 wt.% RHA reinforcement were produced by vacuum infiltration process which is a cheap and cost-effective route. AA7075 alloy without any reinforcement was produced for comparison. Solution heat treatment at 480 °C for 2 hours was applied and then quenched following by aging heat treatment at 120 °C for 8 hours. The microstructure, microhardness, and wear tests of all composites were investigated. Increasing RHA content up to 1 wt.% and aging heat treatment increased the hardness of composites. Abrasion coefficient decreased by increasing RHA content.

Bu çalışmada %99,5 ticari saflıktaki alüminyum malzeme içine vortex yöntemiyle %2, %4 ve %8 oranında FeB (ferrobor) takviye edilerek kompozit numuneler üretilmiştir. Daha sonra üretilen kompozit numunelere, mikroyapının sıkıştırılması amacıyla sıcak presleme işlemi uygulanmıştır. Mikroyapı analizleri için SEM görüntüleri çekilmiş ve bazı mekanik özellikleri belirlemek üzere sertlik ölçümleri, çekme testleri ve abrasif aşınma deneyleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. SEM görüntülerinden FeB takviye miktarının artmasıyla kompozit yapıdaki topaklanma gözenek miktarının arttığı anlaşılmıştır. Kompozit yapı içindeki FeB oranını artmasıyla sertlik, çekme dayanımı ve abrasif aşınma dayanımı değerleri önce artmış daha sonra azalmıştır. Her üç mekanik deneyde de kompozit yapı benzer davranış sergilemiştir. Bu tür kompozit yapılarda FeB takviye oranın belli bir orana kadar mekanik dayanımı arttırdığı ancak daha yüksek oranlara çıkıldığında ise mekanik dayanımı azaltıcı etki yaptığı sonucuna varılmıştır.

Activated carbon is a materials with high capacity to adsorp organic and inorganic substances in liquid and gaseous phases thanks to its high surface area and pores. In the defense industry, activated carbon is used as protective clothing, in the production of explosives in the weapon industry and in the production of bombs to silence electronic systems, in the distillation and purification of gases and liquids and health sectors. In this study, it was aimed to expand the usage areas of active carbon (AC) by determining different methods and parametres of active carbon doped fabric with having antimicrobial properties of silver nanoparticles (AgNP) reinforcement. AgNP’s formed colloidal in aqueous solution were obtained by chemical reduction of Silver Nitrate (AgNO3) with Sodium Borohydride (NaBH4). Structure and properties of synthesized AgNP’s were illuminated by UV-VIS spectrophotometer and Zeta Potential methods. Then, AC doped fabric with the obtained the AgNP’s were covered by using different methods such as ultrasonic bath, magnetic stirrer and soaking in solution and effective coating method was specified. Structure analysis of AgNP/AC composite and the amount of AgNP’s adsorbed to the surface were determined with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and ICP-OES respectively. According to the obtained data, it was concluded that the AC fabric is covered with AgNP’s are the most approprite method by holding the AC fabric in the ultrasonic bath for 1 hour., Aktif karbon (AC), yüksek yüzey alanı ve gözenekleri sayesinde sıvı ve gaz fazdaki organik ve inorganik maddeleri adsorplama kapasitesi yüksek bir malzemedir. Aktif karbon, savunma sanayinde koruyucu giysi yapımında, silah sanayisinde patlayıcı yapımında ve elektronik sistemleri susturmak için bomba yapımında, gazların ve sıvıların saflaştırılması, arıtılmasında ve sağlık sektörü gibi birçok alanda aktif karbon kullanılır. Bu çalışmada, aktif karbon katkılı kumaşa antimikrobiyal özelliğe sahip Gümüş nanopartiküllerin (AgNP) takviye edilmesi farklı yöntem ve parametrelerinin belirlenerek AC kullanım alanlarının daha da genişletilmesi amaçlanmıştır.Sulu çözeltide kalloidal olarak oluşan AgNP, Gümüş Nitrat’ın (AgNO3) Sodyum Bor hidrür (NaBH4) ile kimyasal olarak indirgenmesiyle elde edildi. Sentezlenen AgNP’lerin yapı ve özellikleri UV-VIS spektrofotometresi ve Zeta Potansiyel yöntemleri ile aydınlatıldı. Daha sonra elde edilen AgNP ile Aktif Karbon (AC) katkılı kumaş ultrasonik banyo, manyetik karıştırıcı ve çözelti içinde bekletme gibi farklı yöntemler kullanılarak kumaş üzerine adsorpsiyon yöntemi ile takviye edilmesinde etkin yöntem belirlendi. AgNP/AC katkılı kumaş numunelerinin yüzey yapı analizi Taramalı Elektron Mikroskobu (SEM) ile, yüzeye adsorplanmış gümüş nanopartiküllerin miktarı ise ICP-OES ile belirlendi. Elde edilen verilere göre AC’li kumaşın ultrasonik banyo içerisinde 1 saat bekletilmesiyle AgNP adsorplanması en uygun yöntem olduğu belirlendi.

The main limitation of the Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) is the very high required punching force for pushing the metallic sample to next channel. Frictional forces in ECAP process are responsible for very high required punching force. The participation of exit and entrance channels in total friction force has not been studied experimentally hitherto. Through the current study, two ECAP dies (1) with two channels (normal ECAP die) and (2) with only one channel (the exit channel was missed) were manufactured. Three-dimensional finite element analysis was conducted. The effect of the exit channel on the total punching force, sample geometry, and grain refinement rate were investigated experimentally and numerically. According to the results, the exit channel has a considerable effect on the amount of minimum required punching force and the grain refinement in ECAP process. The comparisons showed that, the trend of the results from experimental investigations were in good agreement with numerical analysis., Eşit Kanal Açısal Preslemenin (EKAP) temel sınırlaması, metal numuneyi kalıbın içine itmek için gereken yüksek zımbalama kuvvetidir. Gerekli yüksek zımbalama kuvvetinden EKAP sürecindeki sürtünme kuvvetleri sorumludur. Çıkış ve giriş kanallarının toplam sürtünme kuvvetine katılımı şimdiye kadar deneysel olarak incelenmemiştir. Bu çalışma sayesinde, iki kanallı (normal EKAP kalıbı) ve yalnızca bir kanallı (çıkış kanalı yok) olmak üzere iki EKAP kalıbı (1) (2) üretilmiştir. Üç boyutlu sonlu elemanlar analizi yapılmıştır. Çıkış kanalının toplam zımbalama kuvveti, numune geometrisi ve tane inceltme oranı üzerindeki etkisi deneysel ve sayısal olarak incelenmiştir. Sonuçlar, çıkış kanalının, EKAP sürecinde gerekli asgari zımbalama kuvveti miktarı ve tane inceltme üzerinde önemli bir etkiye sahip olduğunu göstermiştir. Yapılan karşılaştırmalar, deneysel araştırmaların sonuçlarının sayısal analiz ile uyumlu olduğunu göstermiştir.

In this study, ZnO and GNP were added separately and together to improve the dielectric constant values of hexagonal boron nitride. Polyurethane and glycerol were used as binders. The productions were carried out by dispersing each additive separately in acetone and then coating it with the doctor blade method on aluminium foil. The characterizations were carried out with FTIR and SEM. Then, the capacitance values of each composite were first measured with the LCR meter and then the dielectric constant were calculated. According to the results, the highest dielectric constant values were obtained at the 100 and 120 Hz frequencies. At the frequency value of 100 kHz, the lowest dielectric constant was obtained in all composites. Compared to pure BN, an increase of 115% was achieved with ZnO contribution, while an increase of up to 145% was achieved with GNP contribution. The highest increase was achieved up to 160% with ZnO + GNP contribution. In addition, with the contribution of ZnO + GNP, the amount of decrease at high frequencies was less than the others. This is thought to be due to the combined effect of both ZnO and GNP, which has a large surface area.

Değişik yöntemlerle yapılan yüzey kaplamaları, metalik ve metalik olmayan malzemelerin yüzey özelliklerini değiştirmekte ve aşınma direnci gibi özellikleri iyileştirmektedir. Sert bir fazla yüzey kaplama sonucunda, yüzey aşınmaya karşı korunmakta ancak ark ve yüksek enerjili kaynaklı birleştirmede sorun çıkabilmektedir. Kaplama tabakasının genel özelliklerinin, kaynak işlemi sonrasında nasıl değiştiğinin yanında, kaynaklı birleştirmenin mekanik özellikleri de önemlidir. Bu çalışmada, sabit akım, farklı frekans ve voltajlarda AISI 1010 çeliği üzerine ESD yöntemi ile tungsten karbür (WC) kaplama işlemi yapılmış ve daha sonra iki aynı özellikteki numune, sabit akım ve baskı kuvvetinde nokta kaynağı ile birleştirilmiştir. Kaynak bölgesini ortaya çıkarmak için numuneler ikiye bölünmüştür, daha sonra kalıba alınarak ve klasik metalografik işlemler uygulanmıştır. Metalografik işlemler sonrasında kaynak bölgesinde oluşan içyapıları incelemek için optik mikroskop ve Elektron Mikroskopisi ile görüntüler alınmıştır. Sonuçlar, WC kaplı çelik sacların kaynak bölgesinde bölgesel alaşımlamaya sebep olduğunu ve bu nedenle mikro yapılarda ciddi değişiklikler olduğunu göstermiştir., Surface coatings made with different methods change the surface properties of metallic and non-metallic materials and improve properties such as wear resistance. As a result of a hard surface coating, the surface is protected against wear, but problems may arise in arc and high-energy welded joints. Besides how the general properties of the coating layer change after the welding process, the mechanical properties of the welded joint are also important. In this study, tungsten carbide (WC) coating was carried out on AISI 1010 steel by ESD method at constant current using different frequencies and voltages and later two identical specimens were joined by spot welding at constant current and pressure. In order to reveal the welding zone, the samples were sliced into two, and then moulded and classical metallographic processes were applied. After metallographic processes, images were taken with an optical microscope and Electron microscopy to examine the microstructures formed in the weld zone. The results show that WC coated steel sheets cause localized alloying in the weld zone and therefore drastic changes in microstructures.

ASTM A356 (ISO AlSi7Mg) aluminum alloys are widely used in automotive and aircraft industries but they are selected mainly as automobiles wheel rim materials. They are composed of magnesium and silicon elements for improving corrosion and strength properties. Wheel rim materials are often electroplated by rim paints for decorative views and durability considerations. In this study; aluminum A356 alloy was coated by hard anodic oxidation method. 14 samples are prepared from an automobiles original 14 inch A356 aluminum alloy wheel rim. Samples are machined by 4x20x20 mm in dimensions for hard anodic oxidation. Three different case depths of hard anodic oxidation about 45, 65 and 90µm are applied on samples. Micro-structural investigations, micro-hardness surveys and the case depths of samples are thoroughly studied. The applicability of hard anodic oxidation method on wheel rim material A356 alloy is examined. The micro-structural surveys and micro-hardness tests proved that A356 aluminum alloy samples were hard anodic oxidized up to 90µm in coating thickness.

Residual stresses may form after various machining and heat treating applications. Some applications include; thermo-mechanical methods, unsuitable usage of machining tools and cutting parameters. Residual stresses may also increase up to very high levels in consequence of hardening and surface treatment of metallic materials. Residual stresses can form after the production of structural and mechanical components and deteriorate the fatique and service life, dimension stability, technical security requirements. Hence, the residual stress level of such parts should be decreased to reasonable values to increase the service life and reduce costs.In this work; the effects of tempering temperature on residual stresses of AISI/SAE 4140 steel alloy that widely used in mechanical part industries after hardening heat treatment is investigated. 40x40x120 mm in dimensions of 15 samples is heat treated as normalized owing to ensure uniform beginning microstructures. Then, hardening heat treatment is applied with 6 different tempering temperatures besides 2 untempered samples. After hardness surveys of all samples are tested with ultrasonic flow detector. Longitudinal and surface waves are used in ultrasonic examinations. Whether the residual stress in test materials increase the sound velocity of the ultrasonic wave decreases. The relationship between travel speeds of ultrasonic waves and residual stresses are estimated by mathematical equations.

SAE/AISI 304L austenitic stainless steels are preferred for corrosion resistance in oxidizing medias while SAE/AISI 420 martensitic stainless steels are used generally for resistance to atmospheric corrosion environments. Martensitic stainless steels exhibit high mechanical strength values close to many alloyed steels besides austenitic stainless steels present high toughness at high and low temperatures. These two different alloys may be used in a construction for economical situations and mechanical property considerations. Weld metal and heat affected zones of weldments must be thoroughly examined for discontinuities by non-destructive tests such as penetrant, ultrasonic and radiographic methods to ensure secure weldments. In this work; 304L stainless steel plates with a thickness of 3mm are joined by TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding method with 3mm 420 stainless steel plates under pure argon shielding gas by 3 different TIG welding rods of ER 312, ER316L, ER2209 types. The effects of TIG welding rod compositions on weld metal defects is investigated. For this purpose, weld metals of all samples are tested by x-ray radiographic inspection method. The fewest ratios of discontinuities are detected on samples weld metals joined by ER316L TIG welding rod because of rod having the minimum amounts of chromium and the maximum amounts of nickel and consequently having the least quantities of brittle carbides as compared to samples joined by ER312 and ER2209 TIG rods., SAE/AISI 304L östenitik paslanmaz çelikler oksitleyici ortamlardaki korozyon dayanımları için tercih edilirken, SAE/AISI 420 martenzitik paslanmaz çelikler genel olarak atmosferik korozyona karşı dayanım amaçlı kullanılmaktadırlar. Martenzitik paslanmaz çelikler birçok alaşımlı çeliklere yakın değerlerde yüksek mekanik dayanım değerleri sergilerken bunun yanında östenitik paslanmaz çelikler yüksek ve düşük sıcaklıklarda yüksek tokluk değeri ortaya koyarlar. Bu iki farklı alaşım grubu ekonomik koşullar ve mekanik özellik yaklaşımlarından dolayı bir yapıda bir arada kullanılabilirler. Kaynaklı bağlantıların kaynak metalleri ve ısının tesiri altındaki bölgeleri, güvenilir bir kaynaklı bağlantı elde etmek için; penetrant, ultrasonik ve radyografik muayene yöntemleri gibi tekniklerle detaylıca incelenmelidir. Bu çalışmada; 3 mm kalınlıktaki SAE/AISI 304L östenitik paslanmaz çelik levha ile 3mm kalınlıkta SAE/AISI 420 martenzitik paslanmaz çelik levha TIG (Tungsten Asal Gaz) kaynak yöntemiyle saf argon koruyucu gazı altında ER312, ER316L, ER2209 olmak üzere 3 farklı ilave tel kullanılarak birleştirilmiştir. TIG kaynak teli bileşiminin kaynak metalinde oluşabilecek kusurlara etkileri incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla, numunelerin kaynak metallerinin tamamı x- ışınları radyografik muayenesi ile test edilmiştir. ER312 ve ER2209 TIG teli ile birleştirilen numunelere kıyasla, ER 316L TIG teli ile birleştirilmiş olan numunelerin kaynak metalinde, dolgu telinin en düşük krom ve en yüksek nikel içeriğine sahip oluşu neticesinde en düşük miktarda olduğu düşünülen gevrek karbürlere bağlı olarak en düşük oranda süreksizlik tespit edilmiştir.

Iron and steel industry, which is the developing and producing sector of our country, has a great importance with the amount of waste it generates. The iron and steel industry, which produces from ore and scrap metal, is divided into two type depending on the raw material as integrated and electric arc furnace. Solid wastes from iron and steel plants can be recycled in many areas and contribute to the economy. Within the scope of this study, it is aimed to evaluate of an iron and steel mill producing by electric arc furnace in the scope of Best Available Technics (BAT). The steelwork unit of Baştuğ Metallurgy Co. Inc. iron and steel plant, which is one of the electric arc furnace facilities in Turkey, has been examined within the scope of the BAT. According to the results of investigation carried out in the steel plant, it was determined that the current situation is highly compatible with BREF (BAT Reference Document) and the plant meets the requirements of IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control) Directive., Ülkemizin gelişen ve üreten sektörü olan demir-çelik sanayii, meydana getirdiği atık miktarı ile de büyük bir öneme sahiptir. Cevher ve hurda metalden üretim gerçekleştiren demir-çelik sektörü, hammadde türüne göre entegre ve elektrik ark ocaklı demir-çelik tesisi olarak ikiye ayrılmaktadır. Demir-çelik tesislerinden kaynaklanan katı atıkların birçok alanda geri dönüşümü sağlanabilmekte ve ekonomiye katkı sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında, elektrik ark ocağı ile üretim yapan bir demir-çelik tesisinin Mevcut En İyi Teknikler (MET) kapsamında değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Ülkemizdeki elektrik ark ocaklı tesislerden biri olan Baştuğ Metalurji San. A.Ş. demir-çelik tesisinin çelikhane ünitesi MET kapsamında incelenmiştir. İşletmenin çelikhane bölümünde yapılan incelemelerde mevcut durumun, MET Referans Dokümanı (BREF) ile büyük oranda uyumlu olduğu ve Entegre Kirlilik Önleme ve Kontrol Direktifi’nin gereklerini karşıladığı tespit edilmiştir.
