9. Effects of cold‐pressing conditions on physicochemical and functional properties of cold‐pressed tigernut oil and starch isolated from press‐cake.

Abstract

Summary: Tigernut tuber is a peculiar source of oil because it has high amounts of starch. To collect tigernut oil and obtain high‐quality starch from pressed cake, a comprehensive validation of the cold‐pressing method was conducted. At 40–60 MPa, from one pressing, 67.18–73.97% of total oil content can be obtained; with three pressings, 77.38–82.34% of total oil can be obtained. Starch yields from solvent extraction of cold‐pressed press‐cake are significantly higher (P < 0.05) compared with native tigernut flour. For oils from different pressings, the fatty acid and total tocopherol contents had no obvious difference. Structural and functional analysis of the starch showed that cold‐press pretreatment had little effect on the particle size and molecular chains of the starch, while the syneresis and storage modulus (G′) of starch gel increased slightly. Overall, cold‐pressing is a potential processing method for effectively developing tigernut oil and starch as industrial resources. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A radiative heating calculation method for reentry vehicles into the earth's atmosphere was studied, the four band spectra model in the QRAD for high temperature air was used. The heat dissipation due to radiation and the non-equilibrium effect were considered. The Newton pressure distribution was used for the radiative heating distribution calculation of reentry vehicles bottom faces. The results indicate that the method developed in the paper can predict the radiative heating of reentry vehicles into the earth's atmosphere. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

For the purpose of research on surface catalysis recombination aeroheating. of hypersonic flows, surface heating rate at the stagnation point of cone with different recombination coefficients is studied in this article. A validated numerical method is introduced to solve multi-species Navier-Stokes equations, when the surface temperature varies from 500K to 2500K and the gas focuses on O2 and N2. The results show that surface recombination of the atoms will heat the flow near the wall and reconstruct the profile of the mass fraction, and heat released from recombination of the atoms will heat the wall and the mixture near the wall, the energy is transformed into mass diffusion heating mostly when the recombination coefficient is small, and mass diffusion heating rate is below 20% of the total heat flux when recombination coefficient is less than 0.1. 12. Review of Gas Radiative Heating for Mars Entry.

Abstract

In view of the uncertainties caused by the gas radiative heating for the thermal protection system design of the vehicles entering the Martian atmosphere, based on a brief description of the development history of the Mars exploration and gas radiation, the research progress of the gas radiative heating for Mars entry is reviewed. Firstly, the concept of gas radiative heating and the origin of the problem for Mars entry are described. Secondly, the recent advances in numerical and experimental researches on the basic models of the radiative heating for Mars entry are highlighted, including the numerical models and computational methods of the thermochemical non-equilibrium gas dynamics, gas radiation characteristics and radiative transportation ground facilities, testing techniques, and experimental investigation and validation on gas radiation in the simulated Martian atmosphere. Thirdly, the applications on the design of the Mars entry vehicles such as flow radiation coupling and gas radiative heating on after body are introduced.
