Objectives This review aimed to provide an overview of the prevalence of undernutrition in children under 5 years old in refugee camps according to the different indicators. In addition, we aimed to evaluate the quality and quantity of relevant epidemiological data available.Design We used a systematic review of prevalence study design to achieve the above aims. We sought eligible observational studies through database searching of OVID Medline, CAB Global Health, Scopus and PubMed; citation chasing; and grey literature searching.Setting The setting of interest was refugee camps across the globe.Participants Participants in the studies included in the review were children under 5 years old.Primary and secondary outcome measures Outcome measures of interest were the prevalence of wasting, global acute malnutrition, stunting and underweight.Results The review included 33 cross-sectional studies in 86 sites and a total of 36 750 participants. Overall, the quality of the studies was moderate to high, but some reports lacked clarity around data collection or outcome definitions. The results showed a wide variation in prevalence estimates across the different indicators and between different refugee camps. The median prevalence estimates of global acute malnutrition based on weight-for-height z-score, stunting and underweight were 7.1%, 23.8% and 16.7%, respectively. Using weight-for-height z-score identified a higher prevalence of acute malnutrition than using mid-upper arm circumference in the majority of studies.Conclusions Acute malnutrition remains a public health problem in many refugee camps, but chronic malnutrition has a high prevalence in more locations. Research and policy must, therefore, focus not only on nutrition but also on the wider determinants of both acute and chronic undernutrition. The difference in prevalence of global acute malnutrition depending on the measure used has implications for screening and diagnosis.

É irrefutável que existe uma lacuna no que tange às informações acerca do Programa de Educação Tutorial (PET) em todo o país. Frente a isso, o grupo PET Mentor Aprendiz, que atua na Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), criou um recenseamento para agregar conhecimento e explorar os programas a nível nacional. O trabalho consiste em apresentar uma pesquisa censitária de integrantes ativos dos PETs no Brasil, tendo em vista a atualização de informações insuficientes existentes no Ministério da Educação (MEC). Dessa forma, é possível ampliar a visão do impacto gerado pelo PET na vida dos estudantes nas Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) em todo o país e salientar como o programa é capaz de proporcionar experiências teóricas e práticas sob o princípio da indissociabilidade que contribuem para o campo acadêmico e profissional. A avaliação no final do questionário reúne o ponto de vista de cada envolvido nos grupos PETs em todo o Brasil.

Esse trabalho tem como objetivo relatar as lições aprendidas e desafios na realização do evento Ponte para Inovação, transforme sua ideia em inovação tecnológica com a UFPE, bem como as experiências com a liderança da atividade de extensão. Para o desenvolvimento do trabalho, foi utilizado a metodologia pesquisa-ação, que é desenvolvida de forma conjunta com a ação analisada em que tanto pesquisadores e participantes da ação, interagi de forma participativa e cooperativa com o processo. Como resultados, o evento possibilitou que os envolvidos desenvolvessem habilidades em relação à organização e gerenciamento de projetos, conhecimento sobre os temas principais que foram abordados no evento e network com o mercado, concluindo que as atividades de extensão trazem benefícios tanto para a relação entre universidade e sociedade quanto para seus agentes de construção.

In November 2015, a dam from iron mining collapsed, which is considered as the largest environmental accident in Brazil. Over than 50 million m³ were released reaching the Doce River and killed 20 people in Mariana. The literature review shows that the mining tailings can be used as raw material to the synthesis of zeolites, which can be used for the wastewater treatment. The aim of this work was the synthesis of zeolites from the Samarco tailings and its application for the treatment of electroplating effluent. The residue was characterized which identified high-iron content for the synthesis of zeolites. The residue was mixed with NaOH (1:1) and the reaction temperature was evaluated from 350 °C to 650 °C. Then, the material was mixed with aluminum source and the effect of time was evaluated. The zeolite was applied to the wastewater treatment from electroplating industry. Results showed that the synthesis of zeolite A was carried out with a fusion step at 450 °C for 1 h using RAS: NaOH ratio 1:1, and further hydrothermal treatment at 100 °C during 4 h. The zinc removal from the wastewater was up to 98% using 50 mL of the solution, 2.5 g zeolite A, 60min and pH 6.4. The main metals presented in the solution were adsorbed up to 90% by the zeolite synthesized. Zinc adsorption by the zeolite fitted better on Langmuir isotherm. Objetivo: Descrever os indicadores de cobertura vacinal e o risco de transmissão de doenças imunopreveníveis. Métodos: Estudo ecológico descritivo, tendo como unidade de análise os municípios da 1ª Região de Saúde do estado de Pernambuco. Utilizou-se a metodologia proposta pelo Ministério da Saúde, elaborada no ano de 2016, para classificação de risco de doenças imunopreveníveis, e coletaram-se os dados no Sistema de Informações do Programa Nacional de Imunizações do estado. Descreveram-se as variáveis referentes à situação vacinal das vacinas básicas para os menores de dois anos de idade (cobertura vacinal, taxa de abandono e homogeneidade da cobertura vacinal) e o risco de transmissão de doenças imunopreveníveis a partir da distribuição de frequências absolutas, relativas e médias. Resultados: Dos vinte municípios analisados, 20% (n=4) apresentaram a classificação de risco muito alto, 55% (n=11) tiveram risco alto, 15% (n=3) apresentaram risco médio e 10% (n=2) classificaram-se com risco muito baixo. As vacinas tetra viral, rotavírus e meningocócica C apresentaram os menores valores de cobertura na região: 25% (n=5) dos municípios alcançaram a meta da homogeneidade da cobertura vacinal entre vacinas e 20% (n=4) dos municípios estão com esse indicador zerado. As vacinas rotavírus, pentavalente e poliomielite apresentaram as maiores taxas de abandono. Conclusão: Nos municípios analisados há um enquadramento nas categorias de risco muito alto e alto, além de baixos indicadores de cobertura vacinal, evidenciando que há uma relação inversamente proporcional entre o risco e os indicadores.

The paper uses an ongoing business-to-business (B2B) relationship perspective to establish the interrelationships between trust, commitment, and relationship satisfaction (as relational constructs) and specific assets, formalization, and opportunism (as transaction cost variables) from a buyer's perspective, framed within micro-enterprises in the business banking industry in South Africa. Data were collected via self-administered online questionnaires from 381 micro-enterprise customers of one of South Africa's major banks. We first used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to assess the measurement model before structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to estimate the hypothesized relationships between the study constructs. The measurement and structural models fitted the data well. The research was approached using the dual theoretical lenses of relationship marketing and transaction cost theory to investigate relationship satisfaction from a buyer's perspective. The results support the notion that, in a B2B context, relationship satisfaction is an outcome of trust and commitment, with commitment being the stronger predictor. Relationship satisfaction, in turn, was positively related to both specific assets and formalization (the relationship with formalization being the strongest), and a negative relationship between relationship satisfaction and opportunism. Since our results found commitment to be a stronger predictor of relationship satisfaction than trust (contrary to much previous research that found the opposite to be true), the paper concludes with several commitment-related suggestions for banks. Although much research exists on trust, commitment, and satisfaction, to our knowledge this study is the first using dual theoretical lenses (relationship marketing and transaction cost theory) to investigate relationship satisfaction from a buyer's perspective among micro-enterprise customers in a banking context. The insights gained from our study therefore not only address this under-researched area (micro-enterprises), but also contribute toward expanding our understanding of forming (and maintaining) banking relationships with the customers of the smallest-sized businesses. Resumo Objetivo Caracterizar os eventos adversos pós-vacinação ocorridos em crianças menores de um ano. Métodos Estudo transversal, realizado com dados do Sistema de Informação de Eventos Adversos Pós-vacinação, no período de 2009 a 2013. Resultados Foram analisados 810 casos, com uma taxa de 6,76 eventos adversos por 100.000 doses. Os eventos adversos foram mais relacionados com as vacinas tetravalente (45,1%) e pentavalente (37,4%) e associados com a idade, dose, tempo decorrido da vacinação e a conduta adotada. Nas últimas décadas tem-se reconhecido que existe uma crise global relativa à quantidade e qualidade de água doce disponível para consumo. Com isso, a diversificada utilização das águas subterrâneas é crescente e, com isso, aumenta a importância de se verificar a aplicabilidade da legislação a respeito da regularização do uso de poços para abastecimento humano. Essa regularização é feita por meio de outorga de uso da água antes da implantação de qualquer atividade que implique em intervenção nos cursos de água. No caso de captações subterrâneas, tais como poços manuais, surgências e cisternas, incluindo aquelas localizadas na Bacia Hidrográfica do Rio Doce, são consideradas como insignificantes aquelas com volume por dia menor ou igual a 10 m3, para as quais é necessário realizar um cadastro de uso insignificante. Neste contexto, escolheu-se como área de estudo para este trabalho a bacia do Córrego Palmital, localizada em Viçosa - Minas Gerais, para uma análise de cadastro de poços de uso insignificantes na região, de forma a se caracterizar a regulamentação e fiscalização de poços e assim chegar a uma inferência de como essa situação se encontra nas demais zonas rurais de Viçosa, bem como realizar uma mapeamento destes poços. Foram mapeados 43 poços na bacia do Palmital, dos quais apenas 8 possuem cadastro de uso insignificante no IGAM (Instituto Mineiro de Gestão das Águas). Dos 35 poços restantes, todos mapeados em campo, não há cadastros no IGAM. Esses resultados mostram que é grande a falta de aplicabilidade da legislação de poços na região, seja por falta de fiscalização do órgão responsável ou por inadimplência ou ociosidade dos usuários, podendo-se inferir que o mesmo deve ocorrer nas demais zonas rurais de Viçosa, especialmente aquelas abrangidas pela bacia do Ribeirão São Bartolomeu.

Abstract OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effectiveness of hyaluronic acid in the healing of partial thickness burns. METHOD Systematic review of randomized controlled trials on the use of hyaluronic acid for the topical treatment of skin burns, based on recommendations of the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions. RESULTS Two randomized controlled trials that analyzed 143 patients with partial thickness burns and/or deep partial thickness burns were selected. They compared the application of hyaluronic acid 0.2% associated to silver sulfadiazine 1% 5g/cm2 versus silver sulfadiazine 1% 5g/cm2 alone for the outcome of complete healing. CONCLUSION This review emphasizes the need for new well-designed randomized controlled trials to establish the therapeutic relevance of hyaluronic acid with respect to the healing of burns of partial thickness or deep partial thickness.

Abstract OBJECTIVE To identify and integrate the available scientific evidence related to the use of the prone position in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome for the reduction of the outcome variable of mortality compared to the dorsal decubitus position. METHOD Overview of systematic reviews or meta-analyzes of randomized clinical trials. It included studies that evaluated the use of prone positioning in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome published between 2014 and 2016. The AMSTAR tool was used to determine the methodological quality of studies. The GRADE system was used to establish the overall quality of evidence for the mortality outcome. RESULTS From the search strategy, were retrieved seven relevant manuscripts of high methodological quality. CONCLUSION Scientific evidence supports that combined use of protective ventilatory strategy and prone positioning for periods between 16 and 20 hours in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome and PaO2/FiO2 ratio lower than 150 mm/Hg results in significant reduction of mortality rate.

Objetivou-se realizar teste piloto do ensaio clinico randomizado: avaliação da efetividade do curativo impregnadocom clorexidina para cobertura de cateter venoso central. A pesquisa clinica foi desenvolvida nos centros de terapia intensivae semi-intensiva adulto de um hospital universitário da cidade de Curitiba-PR. A coleta de dados ocorreu entre outubroe novembro de 2011. Os pacientes incluídos foram randomizados para dois grupos: curativo transparente de poliuretano(controle) e curativo antimicrobiano de clorexidina (intervenção). Foram pesquisados oito pacientes. Houve um caso de infecçãoda corrente sanguínea associada ao cateter e um caso de colonização do cateter, ambos no grupo controle. O curativotransparente necessita de troca antecipada em relação ao tempo estipulado devido à má fixação e ao acúmulo de exsudatosob a película, expondo o paciente a maior risco de colonização e de infecção da corrente sanguínea associada ao cateter. ABSTRACT This randomized pilot clinical trial aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of chlorhexidine-impregnated dressingscovering central venous catheters. Data was collected between October and November 2011 at the adult intensive and semiintensivecare units of a university hospital in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. The eight patients included in the trial were randomizedinto two groups: transparent polyurethane film dressing (control) and chlorhexidine-impregnated dressing. There was one case ofblood stream infection associated with the catheter and one of catheter colonization, both in the control group. The transparentpolyurethane film needs to be changed earlier than specified, due to poor fixation and the accumulation of exudate under thefilm, which can expose patients to greater risk of colonization and infection of the blood stream associated with the catheter. RESUMEN Este trabajo tuvo por objetivo realizar prueba piloto del ensayo clínico aleatorizado: evaluación de la efectividaddel curativo impregnado en clorhexidina para cobertura de catéter venoso central. La investigación clínica se desarrolló enlos centros de terapia intensiva y semi-intensiva adulto de un hospital universitario en Curitiba-PR-Brasil. La recogida de datosocurrió entre octubre y noviembre de 2011. Los pacientes incluidos fueron aleatorizados parados grupos: curativo transparentede poliuretano (control) y curativo antimicrobiano de clorhexidina (intervención). Fueron investigados ocho pacientes. Huboun caso de infección de la corriente sanguínea asociada al catéter y un caso de colonización del catéter, ambos en el grupode control. El curativo transparente necesita de cambio anticipado con relación al tiempo estipulado debido a la mala fijacióny a la acumulación del exudado bajo la película, exponiendo el paciente a mayor riesgo de colonización y de infección dela corriente sanguínea asociada al catéter. Self-medication habit of antibiotics contributes to the bacterial resistance mechanism, which is a global public health problem that must be prevented. The university student, as a future health professional, is summoned to guide a conduct and report on the use of antimicrobials regarding the casual agent, the site of infection and the severity of the disease. In this study, it has been verified, through a questionnaire, the profile of freshmen and academic students who are majoring in Biomedical Science in an institution of higher education, comparing the results obtained. It is a descriptive study with quantitative data approach (relative frequency – %) through a self-administered questionnaire, and containing 13 multiple choice questions stored in the database in Excel. The sample consisted of 132 undergraduate students from the Biomedical Science course from this University Center. Among the freshmen, the purchase of antibiotic is mainly influenced by previous experiences with the drug, what is not repeated by the students that are graduating and prefer to seek and follow medical advice. Thus, 91.8% of trainees believe that self-medication may be harmful to health. Regarding the use of anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic before the use of antibiotics, 67% of the entering students said that they take these medications, against 70% of the senior students that also do it. Therefore, we may conclude that information on the danger of self-medication is provided in the disciplines of microbiology and pharmacology, which have not been studied by the freshmen and is unknown by the general population, that appeals to self-medication due to the lack of knowledge. To reverse this situation, it is necessary a greater media exposure on educational practices regarding the risks, the benefits, and elucidation about multi-resistant bacteria.

Business success is determined by the ability to establish stable relationships that result in the retention of loyal customers. Extant literature on business-tobusiness relationships highlights trust, satisfaction, cooperation, and coordination, regarded as important constructs comprising relationship quality (RQ), as key drivers for ensuring loyalty. However, the interaction between these RQ constructs remain unclear. This study accordingly investigates a framework where trust and economic satisfaction are antecedents of cooperation and coordination, which ultimately influence small business customers' loyalty towards their banks. The sample comprised 269 small businesses operating in South Africa. The empirical findings of this study show that trust and economic satisfaction within banking relationships are significant predictors of cooperation and coordination, which in turn positively influences small business customers' loyalty towards their banks. This study contributes to existing literature by incorporating a small business banking perspective investigating the interrelatedness of selected constructs on establishing stable relationship and customer loyalty. Objetivou-se conhecer a assistência prestada às pessoas com hipertensão arterial na Atenção Básica sob a ótica dos trabalhadores da saúde. A coleta de dados ocorreu por meio de grupos focais, em cinco municípios do Noroeste do estado do Paraná. Observou-se que, apesar de o estudo ter sido realizado com equipes de diferentes municípios, os significados e percepções relativos ao atendimento prestado e às dificuldades experenciadas são semelhantes em muitos aspectos. De modo geral, as Unidades Básicas de Saúde atendem às necessidades mais urgentes dos usuários, apesar de a adoção de estratégias para adesão ao tratamento, por vários motivos, não conseguirem atingir toda a população, o que prejudica a qualidade da assistência, mesmo havendo empenho da equipe.

Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo cujo objetivo foi identificar o atendimento que é oferecido aos familiares de portadores de transtornos mentais nas Unidades Básicas de Saúde (UBSs) e compreender o cotidiano da família do portador de transtorno mental. Os dados foram coletados no período de maio a junho de 2007, por meio de entrevistas semi-estruturadas e observação de cinco famílias nos respectivos domicílios. Os dados foram submetidos à análise temática que gerou duas categorias: 1) o transtorno mental na perspectiva da família e a relação com serviço de saúde; 2) convivendo com a doença mental. Os resultados corroboram a importância de, em casos de transtorno mental, ter a família como cliente do processo de cuidado, e a necessidade do preparo dos profissionais para suprir as necessidades das pessoas que freqüentam estes serviços.
