Root Canal Obliteration (RCO) is a condition resulting from physical or chemical trauma to the affected tooth, characterized by the position of mineralized tissue in the pulp chamber and/or root canals. It may eventually progress to pulpal necrosis, requiring endodontic treatment. This is always tricky, due to the difficulty of locating, cleaning and shaping the canals. Clinical and imaging exams are mandatory for proper diagnosis. Thus, the use of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is essential for planning. In an auxiliary way, the use of the operative microscope (OM), ultrasonic inserts and rotary instruments made of nickel titanium (NiTi) with heat treatment, increase the chances of success. This case report addresses the endodontic treatment of tooth 17 with obliteration of the root canals, using CBCT, OM, ultrasonic inserts and an automated instrumentation system. It is concluded that the association of these technological resources was efficient and predictive of success in this clinical condition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
