We study transport in the spin chains by employing the Thouless approach based on the level sensitivity to the boundary conditions, $R$. Although spin transport in the integrable easy-axis XXZ model is diffusive, corresponding $R$ is much closer to ballistic chains than to chaotic diffusive systems. In the case of the grand canonical ensemble this observation can be rigorously justified, while in the case of the canonical ensemble it can be demonstrated by numerical calculations. Integrability breaking perturbation (IBP) strongly reduces $R$ which reveals a pronounced minimum at the crossover from anomalous diffusive to normal dissipative transport. This minimum coincides with the onset of the universality of the random matrix theory. Results for various IBP suggest a discontinuous jump of the spin conductivity in the thermodynamic limit, and moreover that its value universally decreases when the strength of IBP decreases., Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures (including Supplementary Material)

Valence bond (VB) states as the formation mechanism of Cooper pairs, eventually leading to high-temperature superconductivity, remain a controversial topic. Although various VB-like states find variational relevance in the description of specific spin models and quantum spin liquids, in the realm of many-body fermionic Hamiltonians, the evidence for such states as ground states wave functions remains elusive, challenging the valence-bond pairing mechanism. Here, we present evidence of a VB ground state with pairing tendencies, particularly at finite doping. We achieved this for the generic two-orbital Hubbard model in low dimension, where the VB states can be associated with the presence of the topological order manifested by edge states. Utilizing density-matrix renormalization group calculations, the study reveals key properties akin to those observed in superconductors' phase diagrams, such as pairing restricted to the regime of small but nonzero doping, presence of coherent pairs, and density oscillations in the charge sector.

Relaxation rates in nearly integrable systems usually increase quadratically with the strength of the perturbation that breaks integrability. We show that the relaxation rates can be significantly smaller in systems that are integrable along two intersecting lines in the parameter space. In the vicinity of the intersection point, the relaxation rates of certain observables increase with the fourth power of the distance from this point, whereas for other observables one observes standard quadratic dependence on the perturbation. As a result, one obtains exceedingly long-living prethermalization but with a reduced number of the nearly conserved operators. We study the transport dynamics of an interacting tilted (Stark) chain. We show that the crossover between diffusive and subdiffusive dynamics is governed by $F\sqrt{L}$, where $F$ is the strength of the field, and $L$ is the wave-length of the excitation. While the subdiffusive dynamics persist for large fields, the corresponding transport coefficient is exponentially suppressed with $F$ so that the finite-time dynamics appear almost frozen. We explain the crossover scale between the diffusive and subdiffusive transport by bounding the dynamics of the dipole moment for arbitrary initial state. We also prove its emergent conservation at infinite temperature. Consequently, the studied chain is one of the simplest experimentally realizable models for which numerical data are consistent with the hydrodynamics of fractons., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures (including Supplementary Material). The random-field spin-1/2 XXZ chains, and the corresponding Anderson insulators of spinless fermions with density-density interaction, have been intensively studied in the context of many-body localization. However, we recently argued [B. Krajewski et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 129, 260601(2022)] that the two-body density-density interaction in these models is not generic since only a small fraction of this interaction represents a true local perturbation to the Anderson insulator. Here we study ergodicity of strongly disordered Anderson insulator chains choosing other forms of the two-body interaction for which the strength of the true perturbation is of the same order of magnitude as the bare two-body interaction. Focusing on the strong interaction regime, numerical results for the level statistics and the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis are consistent with emergence of ergodicity at arbitrary strong disorder.

We investigate full quantum mechanical evolution of two electrons nonlinearly coupled to quantum phonons and simulate the dynamical response of the system subject to a short spatially uniform optical pulse that couples to dipole-active vibrational modes. Nonlinear electron-phonon coupling can either soften or stiffen the phonon frequency in the presence of electron density. In the former case, an external optical pulse tuned just below the phonon frequency generates attraction between electrons and leads to a long-lived bound state even after the optical pulse is switched off. It originates from a dynamical modification of the self-trapping potential that induces a metastable state. By increasing the pulse frequency, the attractive electron-electron interaction changes to repulsive. Two sequential optical pulses with different frequencies can switch between attractive and repulsive interaction. Finally, we show that the pulse-induced binding of electrons is shown to be efficient also for weakly dispersive optical phonons, in the presence anharmonic phonon spectrum and in two dimensions., Comment: 14 pages

One of the most famous quantum systems with topological properties, the spin $\mathcal{S}=1$ antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain, is well-known to display exotic $\mathcal{S}=1/2$ edge states. However, this spin model has not been analyzed from the more general perspective of strongly correlated systems varying the electron-electron interaction strength. Here, we report the investigation of the emergence of the Haldane edge in a system of interacting electrons -- the two-orbital Hubbard model -- with increasing repulsion strength $U$ and Hund interaction $J_\mathrm{H}$. We show that interactions not only form the magnetic moments but also form a topologically nontrivial fermionic many-body ground-state with zero-energy edge states. Specifically, upon increasing the strength of the Hubbard repulsion and Hund exchange, we identify a sharp transition point separating topologically trivial and nontrivial ground-states. Surprisingly, such a behaviour appears already at rather small values of the interaction, in a regime where the magnetic moments are barely developed.

In recent years the ergodicity of disordered spin chains has been investigated via extensive numerical studies of the level statistics or the transport properties. However, a clear relationship between these results has yet to be established. We present the relation between the diffusion constant and the energy-level structure, which leads to the Thouless localization criterion. Together with the exponential-like dependence of the diffusion constant on the strength of quasiperiodic or random fields, the Thouless criterion explains the nearly linear drift with the system size of the crossover/transition to the nonergodic regime. Moreover, we show that the Heisenberg spin chain in the presence of the quasiperiodic fields can be well approached via a sequence of simple periodic systems, where diffusion remains finite even at large fields.

The isotropic Heisenberg chain represents a particular case of an integrable many-body system exhibiting superdiffusive spin transport at finite temperatures. Here, we show that this model has distinct properties also at finite magnetization $m\ne0$, even upon introducing the SU(2) invariant perturbations. Specifically, we observe nonmonotonic dependence of the diffusion constant ${\cal D}_0(\Delta)$ on the spin anisotropy $\Delta$, with a pronounced maximum at $\Delta =1$. The latter dependence remains true also in the zero magnetization sector, with superdiffusion at $\Delta=1$ that is remarkably stable against isotropic perturbation (at least in finite-size systems), consistent with recent experiments with cold atoms., Comment: 5+5 pages, 4+5 figures

We consider a chain of interacting fermions with random disorder that was intensively studied in the context of many-body localization. We show that only a small fraction of the two-body interaction represents a true local perturbation to the Anderson insulator. While this true perturbation is nonzero at any finite disorder strength W, it decreases with increasing W. This establishes a view that the strongly disordered system should be viewed as a weakly perturbed integrable model, i.e., a weakly perturbed Anderson insulator. As a consequence, the latter can hardly be distinguished from a strictly integrable system in finite-size calculations at large W. We then introduce a rescaled model in which the true perturbation is of the same order of magnitude as the other terms of the Hamiltonian, and show that the system remains ergodic at arbitrary large disorder.

Purely ballistic transport is a rare feature even for integrable models. By numerically studying the Heisenberg chain with the power-law exchange, \mbox{$J\propto1/r^\alpha$}, where $r$ is a distance, we show that for spin anisotropy $\Delta \simeq \exp(-\alpha+2)$ the system exhibits a quasiballistic spin transport and the presence of fermionic excitation which do not decay up to extremely long times $\sim10^3/J$. This conclusion is reached on the base of the dynamics of spin domains, the dynamical spin conductivity, inspecting the matrix elements of the spin-current operator, and by the analysis of most conserved operators. Our results smoothly connects two models where fully ballistic transport is present: free particles with nearest-neighbor hopping and the isotropic Haldane-Shastry model.

The anomalous spin diffusion of the integrable easy-axis Heisenberg chain originates in the ballistic transport of symmetry sectors with nonzero magnetization. Ballistic transport is replaced by normal dissipative transport in all magnetization sectors upon introducing the integrability-breaking perturbations, including external driving. Such behavior implies that the diffusion constant obtained for the integrable model is relevant for the spread of spin excitations but not for the spin conductivity. We present numerical results for closed systems and driven open systems, indicating that the diffusion constant shows a discontinuous variation as the function of perturbation strength.

We numerically study the relaxation of correlation functions in weakly perturbed integrable XXZ chain. The decay of the spin-current and the energy-current correlations at zero magnetization are well described by single, but quite distinct, relaxation rates governed by the square of the perturbation strength $g$. However, at finite magnetization a single correlation function reveals multiple relaxation rates. The result can be understood in terms of multi-scale relaxation scenario, where various relaxation times are linked with various quantities which are conserved in the reference integrable system. On the other hand, the correlations of non-commuting quantities, being conserved at particular anisotropies $\Delta$, decay non-exponentially with characteristic time scale linear in $g$.

We study dynamical correlation functions in the random-field Heisenberg chain, which probes the relaxation times at different length scales. Firstly, we show that the relaxation time associated with the dynamical imbalance (examining the relaxation at the smallest length scale) decreases with disorder much faster than the one determined by the dc conductivity (probing the global response of the system). We argue that the observed dependence of relaxation on the length scale originates from local nonresonant regions. The latter have particularly long relaxation times or remain frozen, allowing for nonzero dc transport via higher-order processes. Based on the numerical evidence, we introduce a toy model that suggests that the nonresonant regions asymptotic dynamics are essential for the proper understanding of the disordered chains with many-body interactions.

We investigate the high-temperature dynamical conductivity $\sigma(\omega)$ in two one-dimensional integrable quantum lattice models: the anisotropic XXZ spin chain and the Hubbard chain. The emphasis is on the metallic regime of both models, where besides the ballistic component, the regular part of conductivity might reveal a diffusive-like transport. To resolve the low-frequency dynamics, we upgrade the microcanonical Lanczos method enabling studies of finite-size systems with up to $L\leq 32$ sites for XXZ spin model with the frequency resolution $\delta \omega \sim 10^{-3} J$. Results for the XXZ chain reveal a fine structure of $\sigma(\omega)$ spectra, which originates from the discontinuous variation of the stiffness, previously found at commensurate values of the anisotropy parameter $\Delta$. Still, we do not find a clear evidence for a diffusive component, at least not for commensurate values of $\Delta$, particularly for $\Delta =0.5$, as well as for $\Delta \to 0$. Similar is the conclusion for the Hubbard model away from half-filling, where the spectra reveal more universal behavior.

We study the ballistic transport in integrable lattice models, i.e., the spin XXZ and Hubbard chains, close to the noninteracting limit. The stiffnesses of spin and charge currents reveal, at high temperatures, a discontinuous reduction (jump) when the interaction is introduced. We show that the jumps are related to the large degeneracy of the parent noninteracting models. These degeneracies are properly captured by the degenerate perturbation calculations which may be performed for large systems. We find that the discontinuities and the quasilocality of the conserved current in this limit can be traced back to the nonlocal character of an effective interaction. From the latter observation we identify a class of observables which show discontinuities in both models. We also argue that the known local conserved quantities are insufficient to explain the stiffnesses in the Hubbard chain in the regime of weak interaction., Comment: updated version of the manuscript

Topological phases of matter are among the most intriguing research directions in Condensed Matter Physics. It is known that superconductivity induced on a topological insulator's surface can lead to exotic Majorana modes, the main ingredient of many proposed quantum computation schemes. In this context, the iron-based high critical temperature superconductors are a promising platform to host such an exotic phenomenon in real condensed-matter compounds. The Coulomb interaction is commonly believed to be vital for the magnetic and superconducting properties of these systems. This work bridges these two perspectives and shows that the Coulomb interaction can also drive a canonical superconductor with orbital degrees of freedom into the topological state. Namely, we show that above a critical value of the Hubbard interaction the system simultaneously develops spiral spin order, a highly unusual triplet amplitude in superconductivity, and, remarkably, Majorana fermions at the edges of the system.

We examine the standard model of many-body localization (MBL), i.e., the disordered chain of interacting spinless fermions, by representing it as the network in the many-body (MB) basis of noninteracting localized Anderson states. By studying eigenstates of the full Hamiltonian, for strong disorders we find that the dynamics is confined up to very long times to disconnected MB clusters in the Fock space. By keeping only resonant contributions and simplifying the quantum problem to rate equations (REs) for MB states, in analogy with percolation problems, the MBL transition is located via the universal cluster distribution and the emergence of the macroscopic cluster. On the ergodic side, our approximate RE approach to the relaxation processes captures well the diffusion transport, as found for the full quantum model. In a broad transient regime, we find an anomalous, i.e., subdiffusivelike, transport, emerging from weak links between MB states., Comment: 7 pages, 9 figures

We study a quantum particle coupled to hard-core bosons and propagating on disordered ladders with $R$ legs. The particle dynamics is studied with the help of rate equations for the boson-assisted transitions between the Anderson states. We demonstrate that for finite $R < \infty$ and sufficiently strong disorder the dynamics is subdiffusive, while the two-dimensional planar systems with $R\to \infty$ appear to be diffusive for arbitrarily strong disorder. The transition from diffusive to subdiffusive regimes may be identified via statistical fluctuations of resistivity. The corresponding distribution function in the diffusive regime has fat tails which decrease with the system size $L$ much slower than $1/\sqrt{L}$. Finally, we present evidence that similar non--Gaussian fluctuations arise also in standard models of many-body localization, i.e., in strongly disordered quantum spin chains.

A quantum particle propagates subdiffusively on a strongly disordered chain when it is coupled to itinerant hard-core bosons. We establish a generalized Einstein relation (GER) that relates such subdiffusive spread to an unusual time-dependent drift velocity, which appears as a consequence of a constant electric field. We show that GER remains valid much beyond the regime of the linear response. Qualitatively, it holds true up to strongest drivings when the nonlinear field-effects lead to the Stark-like localization. Numerical calculations based on full quantum evolution are substantiated by much simpler rate equations for the boson-assisted transitions between localized Anderson states., Comment: Accepted for publication in Phys. We study spin transport in a Hubbard chain with strong, random, on--site potential and with spin--dependent hopping integrals, $t_{\sigma}$. For the the SU(2) symmetric case, $t_{\uparrow} =t_{\downarrow}$, such model exhibits only partial many-body localization with localized charge and (delocalized) subdiffusive spin excitations. Here, we demonstrate that breaking the SU(2) symmetry by even weak spin--asymmetry, $t_{\uparrow} \ne t_{\downarrow}$, localizes spins and restores full many-body localization. To this end we derive an effective spin model, where the spin subdiffusion is shown to be destroyed by arbitrarily weak $t_{\uparrow} \ne t_{\downarrow}$. We consider the propagation of a single particle in a random chain, assisted by the coupling to dispersive bosons. Time evolution treated with rate equations for hopping between localized states reveals a qualitative difference between dynamics due to noninteracting bosons and hard-core bosons. In the first case the transient dynamics is subdiffusive, but multi-boson processes allow for long-time normal diffusion, while hard-core effects suppress multi-boson processes leading to persistent subdiffusive transport, consistent with numerical results for a full many-body evolution. In contrast, analogous study for a quasiperiodic potential reveals a stable long-time diffusion.

Many-body localization (MBL) is an emergent phase in correlated quantum systems with promis- ing applications, particularly in quantum information. Here, we unveil the existence and analyse this phase in a chiral multiferroic model system. Conventionally, MBL occurrence is traced via level statistics by implementing a standard finite-size scaling procedure. Here, we present an approach based on the full distribution of the ratio of adjacent energy spacings. We find a strong broadening of the histograms of counts of these level spacings directly at the transition point from MBL to the ergodic phase. The broadening signals reliably the transition point without relying on an averaging procedure. The fast convergence of the histograms even for relatively small systems allows moni- toring the MBL dynamics with much less computational effort. Numerical results are presented for a chiral spin chain with a dynamical Dzyaloshinskii Moriya (DM) interaction, an established model to describe the spin excitations in a single phase spin-driven multiferroic system. We present a review of recent theoretical results concerning the many-body localization (MBL) phenomenon, with the emphasis on dynamical density correlations and transport quantities. They are shown to be closely related, providing a comprehensive description of the ergodic-to-nonergodic transition, consistent with experimental findings. While the focus is set mostly on the one-dimensional model of interacting spinless fermions, we also present evidence for the absence of full MBL in the one-dimensional Hubbard model and for the density-wave decay induced by the inter-chain coupling., Comment: Feature Article of the special issue Annalen der Physik: "Many-Body Localization"

Within one-dimensional disordered models of interacting fermions we perform a numerical study of several dynamical density correlations, which can serve as hallmarks of the transition to the many-body localized state. Results confirm that density-wave correlations exhibit quite abrupt change with the increasing disorder, with nonvanishing long-time value characteristic for nonergodic phase. In addition, our results reveal in a wide time-window a logarithmic variation of correlations in time, which we can bring in connection with the anomalous behavior of the dynamical conductivity near the transition. Our result support the view that transition to many-body localization can be characterized by universal dynamical exponents.

We analyze the thermalization of a photoexcited charge carrier coupled to a single branch of quantum phonons within the Holstein model. To this end, we calculate the far-from-equilibrium time evolution of a pure many-body state and compare it with predictions of the thermal Gibbs ensemble. We show that at strong enough carrier excitation, the nonequilibrium system evolves towards a thermal steady state. Our analysis is based on two classes of observables. First, the occupations of fermionic momenta, which are the eigenvalues of the one-particle density matrix, match in the steady state the values in the corresponding Gibbs ensemble. This indicates thermalization of static fermionic correlations on the entire lattice. Second, the dynamic current-current correlations, including the time-resolved optical conductivity, also take the form of their thermal counterparts. Remarkably, both static and dynamic fermionic correlations thermalize with identical temperatures. Our results suggest that the subsequent relaxation processes, observed in time-resolved ultrafast spectroscopy, may be efficiently described by applying quasithermal approaches, e.g., multi-temperature models.

One of the pivotal questions in the physics of high-temperature superconductors is whether the low-energy dynamics of the charge carriers is mediated by bosons with a characteristic timescale. This issue has remained elusive since electronic correlations are expected to dramatically speed up the electron-boson scattering processes, confining them to the very femtosecond timescale that is hard to access even with state-of-the-art ultrafast techniques. Here we simultaneously push the time resolution and the frequency range of transient reflectivity measurements up to an unprecedented level that enables us to directly observe the 16 fs build-up of the effective electron-boson interaction in hole-doped copper oxides. This extremely fast timescale is in agreement with numerical calculations based on the t-J model and the repulsive Hubbard model, in which the relaxation of the photo-excited charges is achieved via inelastic scattering with short-range antiferromagnetic excitations., Comment: to appear in Nature Physics

We report the electric transport and thermodynamic properties of the skutterudite-related La$_3$Co$_4$Sn$_{13}$ and La$_3$Rh$_4$Sn$_{13}$ superconductors. Applying an external pressure to La$_3$Rh$_4$Sn$_{13}$, the resistive superconducting critical temperature Tc decreases, while the critical temperature of La$_3$Co$_4$Sn$_{13}$ is enhanced with increasing pressure. The positive pressure coefficient dTc/dP correlates with a subtle structural transition in La$_3$Co$_4$Sn$_{13}$ and is discussed in the context of lattice instabilities. Specific-heat data show that both compounds are typical BCS superconductors. However, La$_3$Rh$_4$Sn$_{13}$ also exhibits a second superconducting phase at higher temperatures, which is characteristic of inhomogeneous superconductors. We calculate the specific heat for an inhomogeneous superconducting phase, which agrees well with experimental C(T) data for La$_3$Rh$_4$Sn$_{13}$. We study a microscopic model of a thermocouple device with two connected correlated quantum wires driven by a constant electric field. In such isolated system we follow the time-- and position--dependence of the entropy density using the concept of the reduced density matrix. At weak driving, the initial changes of the entropy at the junctions can be described by the linear Peltier response. At longer times the quasiequilibrium situation is reached with well defined local temperatures which increase due to an overall Joule heating. On the other hand, strong electric field induces nontrivial nonlinear thermoelectric response, e.g. the Bloch oscillations of the energy current. Moreover, we show for the doped Mott insulators that strong driving can reverse the Peltier effect.

We study the relaxation mechanism of a highly excited carrier propagating in the antiferromagnetic background modeled by the $t$-$J$ Hamiltonian on a square lattice. We show that the relaxation consists of two distinct stages. The initial ultrafast stage with the relaxation time $\tau\sim (\hbar/t_0)(J/t_0)^{-2/3}$ (where $t_0$ is the hopping integral and $J$ is the exchange interaction) is based on generation of string states in the close proximity of the carrier. This unusual scaling of $\tau$ is obtained by means of comparison of numerical results with a simplified $t$-$J_z$ model on a Bethe lattice. In the subsequent (much slower) stage local spin excitations are carried away by magnons. The relaxation time on the two-leg ladder system is an order of magnitude longer due to the lack of string excitations. This further reinforces the importance of string excitations for the ultrafast relaxation in the two-dimensional system.

We study a subsystem of an isolated one-dimensional correlated metal when it is driven by a steady electric field or when it relaxes after driving. We obtain numerically exact reduced density matrix $\rho$ for subsystems which are sufficiently large to give significant eigenvalue statistics and spectra of $\log(\rho)$. We show that both for generic as well as for the integrable model the statistics follows the universality of Gaussian unitary and orthogonal ensembles for driven and equilibrium systems, respectively. Moreover, the spectra of modestly driven subsystems are well described by the Gibbs thermal distribution with the entropy determined by the time-dependent energy only.

We investigate the time evolution of negativity and quantum discord for a pair of non-interacting qubits with one being weakly coupled to a decohering Davies--type Markovian environment. At initial time of preparation, the qubits are prepared in one of the maximally entangled pure Bell states. In the limiting case of pure decoherence (i.e. pure dephasing), both, the quantum discord and negativity decay to zero in the long time limit. In presence of a manifest dissipative dynamics, the entanglement negativity undergoes a sudden death at finite time while the quantum discord relaxes continuously to zero with increasing time. We find that in dephasing environments the decay of the negativity is more propitious with increasing time; in contrast, the evolving decay of the quantum discord proceeds weaker for dissipative environments. We perform an accurate time-dependent numerical study of out-of-equilibrium response of a bound state within t-J systems on a two-leg ladder and a square lattice. We show that the bound hole pair decays with the onset of finite steady current if both mechanisms for binding and the dissipation share matching degrees of freedom. Moreover, by investigating the mechanism of decay on the square lattice we find that the dynamics is governed by the decay in the direction perpendicular to the electric field, leading to much shorter decay times in comparison to the ladder where such dynamics is topologically restricted.

We argue that the t-J model and the recently proposed Ising version of this model give the same physical picture of the Nagaoka regime for J/t << 1. In particular, both models are shown to give compatible results for a single Nagaoka polaron as well as for a Nagaoka bipolaron. When compared to the standard t-J or t-Jz models, the Ising version allows for a numerical analysis on much larger clusters by means of classical Monte Carlo simulations. Taking the advantage of this fact, we study the low doping regime of t-J model for J/t << 1 and show that the ground state exhibits phase separation into hole-rich ferromagnetic and hole-depleted antiferromagnetic regions. This picture holds true up to a threshold concentration of holes, \delta < \delta_t ~ 0.44 \sqrt{J/t}. We study the finite-momentum spin dynamics in the one-dimensional XXZ spin chain within the Ising-type regime at high temperatures using density autocorrelations within linear response theory and real-time propagation of nonequilibrium densities. While for the nonintegrable model results are well consistent with normal diffusion, the finite-size integrable model unveils the coexistence of anomalous and normal diffusion in different regimes of time. In particular, numerical results show a Gaussian relaxation at smallest nonzero momenta which we relate to nonzero stiffness in a grand canonical ensemble. For larger but still small momenta normal-like diffusion is recovered. We investigate currents in a quantum ring threaded by a magnetic flux which can be varied in an arbitrary way from an initial value $\phi_i$ at time $t_i$ to a final value $\phi_f$ at time $t_f$. Dynamics of electrons in the ring is described by the Hubbard and the extended Hubbard models. We demonstrate that time dependence of the induced current bears information on electron correlations. In the case of the Hubbard model with infinite on--site repulsion we prove that the current for $t>t_f$ is independent of the flux variation before $t_f$. Additionally, this current is fully determined by a solution of the initial equilibrium problem and the value of $\phi_f$. Apart from mesoscopic rings our results pose important implications for designing of quantum motors built out as the ring--shaped optical lattice.

We study the dephasing of a single qubit coupled to a bosonic bath. In particular, we investigate the case when the bath is initially prepared in a pure state known as the Schr\"odinger cat. In clear contradistinction to the time-evolution of an initial coherent state, the time evolutions of the purity and the coherence factor now depend on the particular choice of the Schr\"odinger cat state. Within the recently proposed doped-carrier representation of the projected lattice electron operators we derive a full Ising version of the t-J model. This model possesses the global discrete Z_2 symmetry as a maximal spin symmetry of the Hamiltonian at any values of the coupling constants, t and J. In contrast, in the spin anisotropic limit of the t-J model, usually referred to as the t-J_z model, the global SU(2) invariance is fully restored at J_z=0, so that only the spin-spin interaction has in that model the true Ising form. We discuss a relationship between those two models and the standard isotropic t-J model. We show that the low-energy quasiparticles in all three models share the qualitatively similar properties at low doping and small values of J/t. The main advantage of the proposed Ising t-J model over the t-J_z one is that the former allows for the unbiased Monte Carlo calculations on large clusters of up to 10^3 sites. Within this model we discuss in detail the destruction of the antiferromagnetic order by doping as well as the interplay between the AF order and hole mobility. We also discuss the effect of the exchange interaction and that of the next nearest neighbour hoppings on the destruction of the AF order at finite doping. We show that the short-range AF order is observed in a wide range of temperatures and dopings, much beyond the boundaries of the AF phase. We explicitly demonstrate that the local no double occupancy constraint plays the dominant role in destroying the magnetic order at finite doping. The first observation of the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) superconducting state and a subsequent detection of the spin-dependent effective masses of quasiparticles in the CeCoIn_5 heavy fermion system are combined into a single theoretical framework. The appearance of the spin-split masses extends essentially the regime of temperatures and applied magnetic fields, in which FFLO is observable and thus is claimed to be very important for the FFLO detectability. We also stress that the quasiparticles composing Cooper pair become distinguishable in the nonzero field. The analysis is performed within the Kondo-lattice limit of the finite-U Anderson-lattice model containing both the mass renormalization and real-space pairing within a single scheme., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures

Spin dependence of quasiparticle mass has been observed recently in CeCoIn5 and other systems. It emerges from strong electronic correlations in a magnetically polarized state and was predicted earlier. Additionally, the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO)phase has also been discovered in CeCoIn5 and therefore, the question arises as to what extent these two basic phenomena are interconnected, as it appears in theory. Here we show that the appearance of the spin-split masses essentially extends the regime of temperature and applied magnetic field, in which FFLO state is stable, and thus, it is claimed to be very important for the phase detectability. Furthermore, in the situation when the value of the spin z-component \sigma differentiates masses of the particles, the fundamental question is to what extent the two mutually bound particles are indistinguishable quantum mechanically? By considering first the Cooper-pair state we show explicitly that the antisymmetry of the spin-pair wave function in the ground state may be broken when the magnetic field is applied.

We present precise measurements of the upper critical field (Hc2) in the recently discovered cobalt oxide superconductor. We have found that the critical field has an unusual temperature dependence; namely, there is an abrupt change of the slope of Hc2(T) in a weak field regime. In order to explain this result we have derived and solved Gor'kov equations on a triangular lattice.
