General trends for the North American economy reflect a 3.5% growth in 1994 and an increase in the demand for paper products. Nevertheless, it is predicted that paper and paperboard prices will not achieve peak levels similar to the 1988-99 period. This will be due to low inflation and emphasis on value pricing.
