Due to increasing environmental awareness and legislation, green supply chain management (GSCM) is essential for organizations. Despite significant research on GSCM principles, there is limited clarity on their specific application to sustainable sourcing and distribution. The research aims to clarify the core principles of GSCM, differentiate sustainable sourcing and distribution concepts, evaluate theoretical frameworks guiding GSCM practices, investigate recent innovations, and identify challenges and barriers to GSCM. This review explores GSCM with a focus on sustainable sourcing and distribution by utilizing the Scopus database. The database is searched from Jan 17th, 2024 to August 25th, 2024. By employing Title-ABS-Key (“green supply chain management” and “sustainable sourcing” or “sustainable distribution” or “framework” or “model” or “innovation” or “challenges” or “barriers”) search, the review includes 266 papers from period 1997 to 2024. The review delves into key theoretical frameworks such as the triple bottom line, stakeholder theory, and resource-based view, etc. and discusses their application in the context of GSCM. Findings show that (i) technological advancements like blockchain, IoT, AI, and big data analytics enhance transparency, optimize logistics, and reduce environmental impact, (ii) material innovations viz. bioplastics and recycled resources promote a circular economy and resource conservation, and (iii) supplier engagement through training, incentives, and collaboration foster sustainable practices. For green distribution, eco-friendly packaging, green transportation, and energy-efficient warehousing are important. The review also illustrates the best practices for the GSCM. The paper also addresses challenges including financial barriers, technological limitations, regulatory constraints, and cultural resistance.

In today's interconnected world, traditional approaches to managing resources and analyzing product life cycles are often inefficient and lack precision. Digital technologies offer a suite of tools and methodologies that can revolutionize these practices. Through a systematic literature review on the Scopus database, this study examines the (i) various ways in which digital technologies contribute to various aspects of circular economy initiatives, viz., promoting resource optimization, resource efficiency, waste reduction, and overall sustainability and (ii) life cycle analysis of the organizational value chain within the circular economy framework. Intersections of digital technologies with the circular economy and life cycle analysis can drive significant advancements in sustainability practices by optimizing resource efficiency and improving environmental impact assessments across industries. Key topics covered include digital technologies, data collection and management, resource optimization, product design optimization, lifecycle monitoring and assessment, predictive analytics and modeling, circular design and product lifecycle management, supply chain transparency and traceability, virtual reality (VR) platforms, etc. The study also highlights the potential benefits and challenges associated with the adoption of digital technologies in the context of circular economy initiatives and offers insights for practical implications and future research directions. By leveraging digital technologies strategically, organizations can drive innovation, overcome challenges, and accelerate progress toward a more sustainable and circular economy.

Sustainability and the ever-changing customer demands are the key drivers for innovation across product, process, system, and supply chain management. Sustainability innovations aim to improve organizational environmental, social, and economic performance. Given the complexity of sustainability and ever-changing business and stakeholders’ requirements, organizations must focus their innovation in the direction of meeting the requirements of their stakeholders and business. Integrated sustainable green lean six sigma agile manufacturing system (ISGLSAMS) is a sustainable market-focused manufacturing system. It provides a sustainability and market-oriented business model and meets the perspectives of the various stakeholders. This study aims to identify and rank the various performance outcomes of ISGLSAMS. The study also explores the correlations among the various performance outcomes of ISGLSAMS. The study helps the practitioners to better understand the ISGLSAMS and stakeholders’ perspectives of ISGLSAMS. This research provides a foundation for practitioners, policymakers, organizations, and value chain partners (i) to formulate policies and roadmaps for the successful adoption of ISGLSAMS and (ii) for fostering a more sustainable development of manufacturing organizations in India.

With the market competition, hotel industries focus on the quality requirements of customers and the market. To build total quality management (TQM) in the hotel industry value chain, the hotel industries are focusing on the customers, suppliers, employees, and management dimensions of TQM. The purpose of this study is to analyze the priorities of these TQM dimensions or philosophies in hotel industries in Jaipur City, Rajasthan, India. The study adopts a survey approach for identifying the priorities given by the hotel industries to build total quality management in the hotel value chain. The results show that the hotel industries weigh all four dimensions for total quality management. The customers’ dimensions are the first and most important dimension, then management dimensions, then employees’ dimensions, and the suppliers’ dimensions for total quality management in hotel industries. A collaborative strategic approach by the hotel management, involving customers, suppliers, and employees, has to be adopted to design the hotel industry value chain to meet the business sustainability requirements, and customers’ requirements, and to gain the competitive advantage of TQM. The study also highlights that integration of sustainability with the TQM framework is essential for the hotel industry as it enhances operational efficiency and reduces environmental impact. This approach will support long-term profitability and align with increasing customer demand for sustainable practices in the tourism and hospitality sector.

For the economic growth of a nation, industrialization, organizational development, and organizational success are essential. In today's economic time, the major issue with the organization is the survival of the organization, as the number of failing organizations is becoming high. The purpose of this study is to identify the various causes of organizational failure through a systematic literature review. A systematic literature review of articles available on ScienceDirect is carried out. The search criteria include the terms (“organization” or “corporate”) and “failure” and “causes” in the title or abstract. The database was queried from Dec. 20th, 2023, to June 23rd, 2024. A total of 188 papers, from the timeframe 1987 to 2024, were reviewed to identify the causes of organizational failure. The study identifies forty causes of organizational failure. The study helps countries, governments, policymakers, organizations, and entrepreneurs to (i) better understand the causes of organizational failure, and (ii) plan a strategic approach for organizational leadership, organization management, business process research, execution, and success. Such research endeavors also contribute to enhancing the understanding of the complexities surrounding organizational sustainability and offer actionable recommendations to mitigate risks and enhance the resilience and adaptive capacity of organizations to recover from failure in diverse business environments.

Due to rapid industrialization and economic growth, sustainability and environmental concerns are becoming the most prominent for preserving natural resources, and biodiversity. The sustainable manufacturing system is receiving significant attention in manufacturing organizations to improve organizational sustainability performance. Policymakers, organizations, and Government are continuously making efforts to drive organizations toward a sustainable manufacturing system. Various work has been done the sustainable manufacturing drivers. It has been observed that there is still a research gap between the sustainable manufacturing drivers and motives from the organization's perspective. The objective of this study is to identify the various drivers and motives for the sustainable manufacturing system. A systematic literature review of Web of Science and Google Scholar database is carried out. A total of 181 papers and 101 papers respectively, from the timeframe 1987 to 2021, were reviewed to identify the drivers and motives for the sustainable manufacturing system. The study also suggests a performance evaluation model for evaluating the sustainability performance of the organization, and a performance evaluation framework to strategically benchmark the sustainable manufacturing practices with the other organizations, and continuously improve the organization's sustainability gain through the incremental change opportunities identified through the holistic system thinking.

The scarcity of resources and ecological imbalance has attracted the government and manufacturing organizations to go for sustainable development of the manufacturing industries. Sustainable manufacturing uses ecologically sound, socially sustainable products, processes, system, and supply chain. Sustainable manufacturing improves the firm's social, market, environmental, ecological, economic, and financial performance. However, various studies have taken place on sustainable manufacturing barriers, enablers, and drivers; still, many organizations do not opt for a sustainable manufacturing system either due to the multi-objectives of the business or various internal or external barriers. The main objective of this paper is the identification of various barriers and their sub-causes so that a more strategic approach can be planned by the policymakers to overcome the sustainable manufacturing barriers. The study contributes to the detailed understanding of sustainable manufacturing barriers and their causes. The paper also (i) highlights the research directions associated with (a) sustainable manufacturing barriers, (b) sustainable manufacturing system, and (ii) contributes to a better understanding of sustainable manufacturing.

Under the context of the 2030 agenda of the United Nations, sustainability of firms has attracted growing attention. Sustainability and healthcare are intricately related since the quality of our environment affects public health. Based on the acknowledged sustainability practices in healthcare, a compendious theoretical model for sustainability in healthcare has been developed, grounded in appropriate theories. The model encompasses twenty-seven sustainability practices under its triple bottom line (TBL), which have been subsequently reorganized and arranged for analysis into twelve sustainability measures on recommendation from a set of experts. This study investigates the measures of sustainability in Indian healthcare based on an integrated methodology of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM). Expert elicitation was employed for establishing the importance, as well as the interrelationships among, the measures. Consequently, a strategic theoretical framework for sustainable healthcare is proposed on the basis of the findings of the ISM method and Matrice d'Impacts Croises Multiplication Appliquee a un Classement (MICMAC) analysis. This work has studied the key measures that emerged for policy, practice, and research. The results suggest that research & innovations and indigenous production are significant drivers of sustainable healthcare. In addition, the mediating measures viz. circular practices, waste reduction and management, integrated facilities design, sustainable procurement, employee satisfaction, and green growth may offer guidance and provide a strong direction to healthcare managers and practitioners in achieving their sustainability goals.

The inbuilt multi-window feature released with Android Nougat has enabled simultaneous working and visualization of multiple applications on mobile display screen. However, multi-window operations result in unnecessary energy drain due to increased multitasking, CPU load, and multithread processing. Considering linear dependence between power consumed and the displayed colors, we present the design and realization of MultiDroid, a novel display power reduction technique during multi-window operations for the OLED screens. MultiDroid employs dynamic local dimming based on the context switching between the application pairs displayed on the screen. The display optimization works based on the user interaction with the mobile screen, where dynamic changes on the display screens are implemented for the non-critical application window. MultiDroid architecture is validated through power modeling and correctness verification. Furthermore, a survey on multi-window usage has been conducted reflecting the application usage pattern. The performance of MultiDroid is evaluated on preferred application pairs on multi-window framework obtained from the survey. Modeling and comparative analysis of the energy profiles for the devised test cases on optimized and default multi-window screens reflect around 10% to 25% reduction in the overall device power consumption per hour with a negligible performance degradation. After experimental validation, we present user acceptance and feasibility of MultiDroid based on the feedback from 50 participants.
