When teachers teach geographic understanding in early childhood education, home is commonly used as the foremost environment in which children are situated. However, this paper raises a question concerning the interplay between the concepts of home, geography in the curriculum, and children's mobility. This study explores how home is addressed in case studies, employing a mobilities lens and critical geography of home while focusing on highly mobile children, especially children experiencing homelessness. The aim of the study is to create a space to reexamine current practices that may inadvertently neglect or overlook highly mobile children in the curriculum. Research over the past two decades has noted significant racial/ethnic wealth inequalities—inequalities with important implications for life chances and institutional access. Home ownership is as a foundational element of such inequality with broad consequences for exposure to crime, quality of public safety services, and access to healthcare, education, and employment. Building on earlier scholarship that has tended to focus on specific forms of mortgages, we draw in this article on over 1.4 million diverse mortgage applications from the largest 100 U.S. metropolitan areas to interrogate racial/ethnic disparities for (1) all home types (mobile homes, condominiums, multi/single-family units), (2) all lien holders (private/government backed), (3) all purposes (vacation/rental/owner-occupied), and (4) all buyer loan sequences (purchase, refinance, home-equity/improvement). Our analyses, which make use of multilevel modeling, reveal durable inequalities for African Americans and Hispanics across time and advantages for Non-Hispanic White and Asian-American applicants. Such disadvantages are likewise observed for those seeking housing in highly concentrated minority locales, although such effects seem to vary by applicant race/ethnicity. Specifically, mortgage originations, while generally less likely in high minority concentrated areas, appear to be more likely for Black/Hispanic borrowers in areas that have been becoming increasingly minority concentrated. Mortgage lending, we conclude, remains a deeply problematic dimension of racial/ethnic inequality with important consequences for persistent segregation, wealth disparities, and the intergenerational transmission of advantage/disadvantage. Introduction: The Medication Home Delivery (MHD) service from community pharmacies involves the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceuticals (prescription and non-prescription medications), and health products directly to the patient's/consumer's home. There are several issues encountered by the users of the MHD service that have an impact on their satisfaction with the service. The study aimed to assess the public's perceptions of the MHD service in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), their willingness to utilize it, and the practical use of the service. Method: A cross-sectional exploratory study was conducted in the UAE using a validated online survey. The inclusion criteria were adults residing in the UAE. Statistical analysis was performed to identify the association between the variables, the service use, and the level of service efficiency. Results: A total of 556 participants filled out the survey, with 69.4% of them using the service. The majority of participants were females (75.9%) and aged less than 40 years old (71.6%). Three variables showed a statistically significant association with the use of the MHD service (P < 0.05): the participant's educational level, their medical/health background, and the frequency of visits to community pharmacies. The most common issues raised were receiving the wrong order, delay in delivery, and paying delivery fees. Most participants agreed that the MHD service reduces the risk of exposure during pandemics, serves the elderly, serves disabled people, makes it more comfortable for parents with children at home, and reduces overcrowding in health facilities, as well as the MHD service making pharmacy services more efficient. Conclusion: The study indicated positive perceptions among the public in the UAE towards the MHD service. However, there was a concern that this service may diminish the communication between pharmacists and patients, which potentially minimizes the amount of information received by patients regarding their treatments. As gestures play an important role in human communication, there have been a number of service robots equipped with a pair of human-like arms for gesture-based human–robot interactions. However, the arms of most human companion robots are limited to slow and simple gestures due to the low maximum velocity of the arm actuators. In this work, we present the JF-2 robot, a mobile home service robot equipped with a pair of torque-controlled anthropomorphic arms. Thanks to the low inertia design of the arm, responsive Quasi-Direct Drive (QDD) actuators, and active compliant control of the joints, the robot can replicate fast human dance motions while being safe in the environment. In addition to the JF-2 robot, we also present the JF-mini robot, a scaled-down, low-cost version of the JF-2 robot mainly targeted for commercial use at kindergarten and childcare facilities. The suggested system is validated by performing three experiments, a safety test, teaching children how to dance along to the music, and bringing a requested item to a human subject. Introduction: There is a growing need for alternative forms of care to address citizen demands and ensure a competent healthcare workforce across municipalities and regions. One of these forms of care is the use of mobile care units. The aim of the current study was to describe physicians and nurses experiences of providing care to patients within a mobile care unit in Sweden. Method: Data were collected between March 2022 and January 2023 through qualitative interviews with 14 physicians and nurses employed in various mobile care units in different regions in Sweden. These interviews were transcribed verbatim and subjected to content analysis, with the study adhering to the Standards for Reporting Qualitative Research (SRQR). Results: The analysis resulted in two main categories: "Unlocking the potential of mobile care", and "The challenges of moving hospitals to patients' homes"; and seven subcategories. The respondents viewed mobile care at home as highly advantageous, positively impacting both patients and caregivers. They believed their contributions enhanced patients' well-being, fostering a welcoming atmosphere. They also noted receiving more quality time for each patient, enabling thorough assessments, and promoting a person-centered approach, which resulted in more gratifying mutual relationships. However, they experienced that mobile care also had challenges such as geographical limitations, limited opening hours and logistical complexity, which can lead to less equitable and efficient care. Conclusions: Physicians and nurses in mobile care units emphasized positive outcomes, contributing to patient well-being through a person-centered approach. They highlighted increased quality time, comprehensive assessments, and overall satisfaction, praising the mobile care unit's unique continuity for enhancing safety and fostering meaningful relationships in the patient's home environment. We show that the first and only experiment of U.S. mass production of houses, in a factory-built home industry that became known as the Mobile Home industry (and today, as the Manufactured Home industry), was a tremendous success. Mobile Home prices-psf fell by two-thirds from 1955 to 1973, as productivity soared; home quality rose significantly, with Mobile Home building codes receiving ANSI certification in 1963 and National Fire Protection Association co-sponsorship in 1965; as production soared, Mobile Homes accounted for one-third of single-family homes produced in the early 1970s. These feats were achieved as industry leaders developed state-wide building codes for Mobile Homes. This dramatically increased the size of the market for them. Factories invested in specialized machinery to produce simple and standardized products, substituting machinery for labor. Given each factory produced under the same code, industry-induced productivity gains followed, including external effects and directed technical change. Lessons from this industry give insights into critical issues in today's residential construction industry. The poor productivity performance of today's residential construction industry is considered a puzzle. But this poor performance is not new. Our forebears before 1950 wrote extensively about the sector's poor performance, attributing it to the failure to adopt factory-built housing. Our analysis strongly supports this view for their time and ours. It also supports their view, like that of Levitt & Sons, that factory production is the only way "to produce the homes and apartments needed to house our expanding population and our underprivileged citizens in a comfortable, dignified, decent way," (U.S. Senate 1969). A 36-year-old woman with a medical history of opioid use disorder and frequent urinary tract infections presented to the ED from her opioid use disorder clinic, where she was found to have an oxygen saturation by pulse oximetry (Sp o 2) of 82% on room air. Starting 3 days before presentation, the patient's family noted worsening pale complexion and blue lips at rest. These findings of cyanosis had occurred a few times before and always resolved within a couple days without any medical intervention. She had no pulmonary symptoms outside of long-standing dyspnea with moderate exertion when at work or doing chores around the house. Her medications included methadone 160 mg daily, acetaminophen 650 mg nightly as needed, and phenazopyridine 199 mg three times daily as needed for increased urinary frequency and urethral discomfort that lasted a maximum of 4 days at a time. She confirmed she had started taking a new course of phenazopyridine 4 days before presenting to the ED. She had no dietary restrictions, had been eating her normal diet, and lived in a mobile home with her family, two dogs, and a gerbil. The patient reported using less than 10 tobacco cigarettes per day, one marijuana cigarette nightly, and no alcohol or other drugs. She worked in a warehouse stacking prepackaged bread. The modular construction industry struggles to implement the modularization strategy appropriately due to a poor understanding of the differences between stick-built and modular construction methods and unique modular challenges. Among many modular challenges, transporting prefinished volumetric modules is one of the underinvestigated key challenges—the conventional methods for module transportation [e.g., truck, self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT), and so on), although fitting for projects comprising multiple modules, are not ideal for projects with fewer modules and limited jobsite space. This study investigates hydraulic jacks and trailer bogie as the potential alternative transporting and module lifting/offloading methods by examining how the prefinished volumetric housing module is affected during the lifting, transporting (on-road and jobsite), and offloading phases of transportation. A sensor was installed on the volumetric housing module to record transportation-induced shocks in front-to-back tilt and left-to-right roll, deformation, and impact. The peaks and lows recorded for tilt and roll during each transportation phase were 42, 57, 1, and 0, and 346, 70, 6, and 14, respectively. The results indicated that impacts to the module were more directly associated with left-to-right rolls than front-to-back tilt, because high rolls primarily reflected the module making wide turns, whereas no deformation or impact was recorded. This study contributes to the body of knowledge by highlighting the hydraulic jack and trailer bogie as potential alternatives to the conventional crane and truck under certain conditions through the assessment of the transportation-induced impact on the prefinished volumetric housing module. This study explores the use of natural convection heating in mobile homes by embedding panels in the walls that utilize hot water to supply thermal energy. It implemented natural convection heating with the thermal energy supplied by hot water by embedding natural convection panels in the walls of a natural convection heating system for mobile homes. The size of the natural convection heating system for mobile homes is 1800 mm wide, 1100 mm long, and 2100 mm high. The results of three-dimensional temperature and velocity fields inside the mobile home in this study showed uniform three-dimensional temperature and velocity fields resulting from the natural convection heat transfer inside the mobile home, and the temperature fields were shown to be well-being temperature fields beneficial to health. It was verified that heating is achieved by natural convection heat transfer, which is beneficial to health. In mobile home heating, the experimental natural convection heat transfer value and the theoretical natural convection heat transfer value of the air for heating matched relatively well in the entire range of the experiment. In addition, as the mass flow rate of hot water increased, the air temperature inside the mobile home rose. The complexities that attend global mobilities have shown us how migrants recreate home by drawing from their countries of emigration and immigration. In so many ways, any homemaking practices are embedded in home's mobile and sedentarist aspects. Amongst overseas Filipino workers (OFW), this means the performance of Filipino traditions like fiestas, and consumption of Filipino food whilst at the same time learning the language of their destination countries and partaking of their cultural and social practices. Filipino seafarers, however, present us with an interesting case: they perform homemaking practices within the constrained and limiting spaces of the ship where they both work and live. Filipino seafarers have a transportable home ready for unpacking and reconstruction on every ship that they board, drawing less on what the ship offers, but more on what reminds them of home back in the Philippines. Drawn from data gathered from more than a decade of engaging with seafarers on board ships and ashore, this article focuses on the homemaking practices of Filipino seafarers viewed as a means to meaning-making, where ships conceived as non-places could be turned into home, and seafarer wellbeing is specifically defined as self-preservation on board and continuing authority back home. Remote sensing techniques have emerged as an essential tool for conducting damage assessments and are commonly used to improve disaster recovery planning and community resilience policies. The objective of this study was to use aerial imagery data and LiDAR to identify the hardest hit areas, quantify the extent of damages, and compare pre- and post-storm beach morphology conditions in Estero Island, Florida, relating to Hurricane Ian in 2022. This study identified >2400 structures that were impacted by Hurricane Ian, with 170 structures suffering extensive damage. Clustering of heavily damaged buildings was observed on the northern and central portions of the island, with lower levels of damage clustered on the southern part. Among the 'severely damaged' and 'destroyed' structures were seven mobile home subdivisions. The total assessed value of the heavily damaged structures was estimated at over USD 200 million. The results also indicated substantial post-storm debris and sand deposition across the entire island. Remote sensing provides advanced techniques that can help prioritize emergency response efforts after catastrophic impacts from a natural disaster. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Roughly three million households in the United States own mobile homes that are on rented spaces in mobile home parks. Investments in mobile home parks are highly profitable. However, in recent decades, as urban areas densify and alternate land uses, such as condominium projects, commercial centers, or high end subdivisions, become more profitable, mobile home park closures have become widespread and are now becoming a national concern. When a mobile home park closes, it usually wipes out the owner's entire investment in the mobile home and displaces the mobile home owner. Park closures are a large problem, as appellate courts have noted for decades, because of the "captive" nature of mobile home park tenancies and the role of public regulations in severely limiting the possible locations of mobile homes. As a practical matter, after they are moved from the factory and installed on a plot of land, "mobile" homes cannot be relocated. Generally, they are only sold in place, an unavailable option when a park closes. Concerns about the dire consequences of closures have led many states and localities to adopt legislation with one or more of the following requirements: 1) extended notice periods for evictions in order to close a mobile home park, 2) financial mitigation for displaced home owners, 3) bars on closures of parks, and 4) mobile home park only zoning applicable to land with existing parks. In some states, the protections and required mitigations are substantial, while in most they are only nominal. Now that there is substantial public interest in adopting new protections and augmenting existing protections, appellate courts in six states have reached conflicting conclusions about the constitutionality of such laws, which square up park owners' rights against public rights to provide mobile home owners with security of tenure. In light of the high economic stakes associated with conversions, increasing mitigation requirements for closures or restrictions on closures, and the fact that validity of new tenant protections has always been subject to legal challenges, it is virtually certain that there will be more challenges to closure laws. This Article discusses the circumstances leading to the demands for closure legislation, the types of legislation that have been adopted, and the constitutional issues that have been raised. Wildfire is increasing in frequency, extent, and severity in many parts of the USA. Considering the unequal burden of natural hazards on socially vulnerable populations, we ask here, how are characteristics of social vulnerability associated with wildfire occurrence nationwide, at different scales and across differing levels of wildland–urban interface development? To answer this question, we first identify all non-urban census tracts in the USA that have experienced a wildfire since 1984. Using 26 different measures of social vulnerability, we compare these tracts to non-urban census tracts that have not experienced a wildfire. In doing so, we identify notable social vulnerabilities in areas that have experienced wildfire, including higher unemployment, higher employment in extractive industries, higher percentage of people living in mobile homes, higher percentages of Native Americans, higher percentage of people with less than 12th grade education, and higher populations of people with special needs. Breaking our data into eight regions and comparing tracts with a high proportion of wildland–urban interface (WUI) to those with a low proportion of WUI, we find that these characteristics are generally consistent across regions of the USA and vary slightly between high WUI and low WUI tracts. Overall, we find a robust pattern of higher social vulnerability in areas with wildfire occurrence. Whereas previous studies about social vulnerability to wildfire focus on relationships with wildfire hazard potential or concentrate on a single region, this study fills a knowledge gap by examining the relationship between social vulnerability and wildfire occurrence nationwide. With the increasing global aging population, dementia care has rapidly become a major social problem. Current diagnosis of Behavior and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) relies on clinical interviews, and behavioral rating scales based on a period of behavior observation, but these methods are not suitable for identification of occurrence of BPSD in the daily living, which is necessary for providing appropriate interventions for dementia, though, has been studied by few research groups in the literature. To address these issues, in this study developed a BPSD monitoring system consisting of a Psycho-Cognitive (PsyCo) BPSD model, a Behavior-Physio-Environment (BePhyEn) BPSD model, and an implementation platform. The PsyCo BPSD model provides BPSD assessment support to caregivers and care providers, while the BePhyEn BPSD model provides instantaneous alerts for BPSD enabled by a 24-hour home monitoring platform for early intervention, and thereby alleviation of burden to patients and caregivers. Data for acquiring the models were generated through extensive literature review and regularity determined. A mobile robot was utilized as the implementation platform for improving sensitivity of sensors for home monitoring, and elderly individual following algorithms were investigated. Experiments in a virtual home environment showed that, a virtual BPSD elderly individual can be followed safely by the robot, and BPSD occurrence could be identified accurately, demonstrating the possibility of modeling and identification of BPSD in home environment. Tornado fatality rates in the southeastern United States are higher than those in Tornado Alley, despite Tornado Alley having a higher frequency of tornadoes. A major contributing factor is the large number of mobile and manufactured homes (MMHs) in the southeastern states. Forensic engineering assessments of tornado damage have consistently shown that inadequate anchoring of MMHs or the absence of proper anchoring has been the primary cause of structural failure. To properly design a MMH anchorage system to resist tornadic winds, it is imperative to have accurate knowledge of the tornadic wind effects on the MMH systems. In this study, tornado–MMH interactions are investigated using high-fidelity numerical simulations. The pressure distribution on the MMH surface and the total forces/moments on the entire MMH induced by tornadic winds are obtained. In addition, simulations are conducted to reveal (1) the difference in tornadic wind effects between a MMH and its associated permanent home (home with classical on-site construction), and (2) the difference in wind effects between tornadic winds and the equivalent straight-line winds. The latter of these comparisons is intended to provide information on the unconservative use of straight-line wind loading for MMHs. The simulation results (peak wind pressure and total forces/moments on the MMH) are compared between the tornadic wind field and straight-line wind field. The comparison indicates that the results caused by the tornado are higher. Under a tornadic wind field, compared with the permanent home (PH), the peak pressure and horizontal forces on the MMH are smaller because of the existence of open space under the MMH. Although the research findings here demonstrate the limitation of US code for MMHs, a great number of simulation cases with the related uncertainties involved will be needed to be run to improve the US code. This study analyzes insurance claim data from an 11-county area in the Florida Panhandle following the landfall of Hurricane Michael. The data includes 1467 non-mobile home structures, with 902 (61.5%) storm-damaged structures in Bay County. The analysis focuses on Wind Mitigation form 1802. Specifically, building design variables were analyzed via linear regression as to their influence on the percent claim loss. The building design variables included total square footage, dwelling construction type, age of the building, roof type, roof cover type, roof deck attachment type, roof to wall attachment, the presence of secondary water resistance (or sealed roof deck), opening protection type, and roof shape. Results show that building design variables for insurance claims have a high predictive value relative to a Category 5 hurricane event. However, the predictive values of building design variables are also dependent on the dwelling's proximity to the coast, its location relative to the strong or weak side of the storm, the diameter of the storm, and other wind field variables. This paper examines the relationship between student mobility and identity by exploring the meaning of 'home' and homemaking processes among international students. It unpacks students' complex web of relations within and between places, across space and in time, and illustrates how students' family homes, familiar places and home society inform and shape the students' existence and 'becoming' while they are abroad. Applying a spatial approach, this paper exhibits that international students' involvement is a spatial homemaking process that connects home as sensory everyday practices and experiences and home as a place of origin. Both relationships in distance and proximity are necessary and important elements in practices of homemaking processes among international students. By examining space relationally, the narratives of the students show a significant refiguring of an embodied self, concurrently highlighting the relational construction of the identity of place. The empirical findings of this paper bring new dimensions, such as the spatial, geographical, sensory, and affective nature of mobile belongings, to the research on youth mobility and internationalisation of higher education. Although only 5% of housing in Maricopa County, Arizona are mobile or manufactured homes, residents make up between 30 to 40% of indoor heat associated deaths each year. While our prior qualitative and quantitative research has been able to reveal multi-scale factors underlying these disparities, we find it challenging to move towards co-production of solutions with stakeholders. We recognize part of this problem is due to an unique analytical challenge emerging from the incongruence across spatial units and scales of the phenomena, relative to the scales of action of stakeholders, relative to the jurisdictions at which decisions to act upon this knowledge may be put into place. This article situates our ongoing research experiences through a multi-stakeholder effort to improve heat resilience among mobile home residents in Arizona. We compare jurisdictions, impacts, and accountability to identify and assess potential design solutions to the disproportionate heat risk. We introduce a set of piloted tools and a decision matrix that serves to frame solutions sets according to multiple scales of measured benefits, costs, needs and resources. This is then applied in depth to one of three stakeholder-identified categories in terms of natural and built environment solutions. We discuss and consider policy and regulatory solution sets. This article aims to articulate our experience with this distinct problem of mobilizing solutions, to offer a not only specific ideas for heat resilience, but also to propose an innovative methodological approach for developing possible collective action. In doing so, we further evolve the conceptual framework of how to understand the more general analytical challenge of addressing spatial incongruences. This article explores the embedded and embodied 'culture of geographic mobility' across contemporary visual artists' careers and its impacts on their feelings towards mobility and home. This article uncovers the under-explored aspects about artists' lifestyles, for whom geographic cross-border mobilities across Europe are a necessity throughout these artists' careers. In addition to changes in mobility patterns, pace, motives over their careers, there are also changes in their feelings towards mobilities and home across their careers and as they become older (career and age wise). Mobile careers can often start with feelings of freedom and comfort in having mobile homes. However, the effects of having mobile careers long-term can result in feelings of ambivalence, tensions and anguish towards mobility vis-à-vis home. This longitudinal study draws upon two sets of interviews conducted eight years apart with the same fifteen contemporary visual artists from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. They were first interviewed in 2013 at the emerging stage in their career and they were interviewed again in 2021 at the established stage in their career. The nexus between careers, mobility and home helps to expand the 'mobilities paradigm', by sharing new knowledge on contemporary visual artists' mobilities and its effects on feelings of home across their careers. In recent years, the need for affordable sustainable housing has increased. At the same time, there has been a gradual rising interest in compact living. With the mounting impacts of climate change, a new way of thinking is needed to develop more resilient and climate responsive ways of living that are compact, affordable, and climate-conscious. In response to this need, the idea of a 'Z-Free Home' was born. The 'Z-Free Home' is a tiny mobile house equipped with essential passive and eco-cycle systems that achieves nine zero targets. The main design and construction concept is based on circular design and a return to nature life cycle principles. In this paper, the architectural design concept, building energy modelling, and simulation for the Z-Free Home design proposal is discussed. This paper describes the concept design and design development phases together with building modelling and simulation. A focus was made on the use of virtual reality in design development assessment as a new method for evaluating passive and eco-cycle systems. The results show that it's possible to achieve nine different zero goals while the analysis illustrates the challenges in achieving them. The paper also described the next steps planned for the proof of concept, i.e., the 1:1 house model. The project is ongoing, and it aims at a full-scale physical prototype as a proof of concept for the zero targets. Manufactured housing (MH) communities have emerged as a high-profile and lucrative asset class. Despite this, it is costly or impossible to get loans to buy homes in most mobile home parks. This article explores this ostensible contradiction—that whereas MH parks are desirable and liquid assets, the individual homes that compose them are not. We explore the implications of this contradiction for housing justice as well as financial and environmental vulnerability. We argue that the marginality of MH in U.S. housing markets is rooted in the privileging of real property above personal property. We describe the origins and impacts of this "real property supremacy" in two parts. In the first, we outline the macro-historical context of real property supremacy using a variety of sources, including interviews with federal officials and industry experts as well as document analysis. In the second, we connect this macro context to its micro consequences, drawing on interviews with MH residents, nonprofit and social-service practitioners, and park managers and owners in Tucson, Arizona. We conclude that state-supported property hierarchies create conditions where constrained housing options, semiformal financial practices, and unique tenure forms combine to (re)produce unique and intersecting forms of vulnerability in MH communities. This study aims to offer a postcolonial reading of Abulhawa's Mornings in Jenin through the notions of Homi Bhabha's "unhomeliness" and Edward Said's "between worlds". It probes deep into the diasporic experience that Palestinians are thrown into due to the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict, feeling displaced in their own stolen home as well as a round the world. Such case creates a perplexing and intricate meanings to the notions of home and identity. It gives a shifting and mobile meanings to home and identity instead of the fixed and stable interpretations, shaping an ambiguous existence and a confused sense of self as well. It reveals that Abulheja family members experience the sense of unhomeliness which negates the pure sense of home and identity and have more to do with their lack of sense of belonging. Memory appears as a strategy upon which they can capture a sense of home, having no real home to belong to but sweet memories to remember. Home is, thus, touched throughout imagination and memory. Furthermore, as home is deeply linked with the question of identity, Abulheja family members find themselves in Said's "between worlds" position which gives their sense of home and identity another far reaching dimensions and implications. They straddle two or more worlds simultaneously, adopting a borderline existence as well as a dual sense of identity. In this globalized cosmopolitan world, the concept of home has become one of the most crucial socio-cultural perceptions, playing a significant role in establishing community and transnational relationships both at the local and the global level. Amitav Ghosh's alternative ideas of cosmopolitanism are committed to criticizing the neo-imperial characteristic of the contemporary capitalist cosmopolitan world. This paper argues that Amitav Ghosh through his selected fiction - The Shadow Lines (1988) and The Hungry Tide (2004) - has shown how breaking away from the conventional, constrictive ideas and established definitions of home, that often run the risk of becoming the birthplace of many of the communal, regional or national fanatic ideologies, contributes to forming alternative ideas of home and family that are more mobile and flexible in nature and how they are instrumental in shaping individuals as true cosmopolitans. Residents of manufactured housing communities (MHCs) are disproportionately vulnerable to both hazards and displacement. The cooperative ownership model of resident-owned communities (ROCs) pioneered by ROC USA helps MHC residents resist displacement, but little research assesses how cooperative tenure impacts hazard vulnerability. To fill this gap, we conduct a spatial analysis of 234 ROC USA sites; analyze the co-op conversion process; and interview ROC USA staff, technical assistance providers, and resident co-op leaders. Although ROC USA communities, like other MHCs, face elevated exposure and sensitivity to hazards, we find that ROC USA's model supports communities' adaptive capacity by increasing access to financial resources, bridging formal and informal knowledge and skills, and improving social and institutional capacity. This networked cooperative model represents a scalable form of transformative adaptation by enabling low-income communities to address the underlying causes of uneven hazard vulnerabilities that are intensifying under climate change. In this article, we undertake a thorough investigation into the theory of indoor location, adopt an effective and quick positioning algorithm, and make use of a network of lowpower iBeacons. An iBeacon-based indoor positioning system (IPS) is presented to investigate how to utilize iBeacon for accurate location and whether it can successfully replace the current dominant positioning technology based on the analysis that was conducted. However, the first things that should be taken into account at this point in the design of house robots for indoor environments are how to quickly and precisely gather target node location information as well as how to regulate and plan a course. This article examined the more popular and often used indoor positioning techniques, provided a succinct summary of current indoor positioning technologies and regulators, and examined ultrasonic locating technology in depth. Based on this, a system for mobile home service robots was developed, and simulation tests were performed to assess the accuracy of node locating, node reception and arrival times, the best level of route planning, and navigation and path estimation errors in both absolute and comparative terms. Additionally, we go into detail about the difficulties in developing a practical IPS, the solutions that are already available, a thorough performance comparison, and some potential future IPS development trends. With the improvement of autonomous robot navigation technologies, mobile robots can now be deployed in uncertain, real-world environments. An aspect of autonomous robot navigation in such scenarios is the capability to navigate to a real-time determined (previously unknown) location anywhere in its vicinity. This is especially pertinent for indoor navigation where existing localization technologies such as GPS do not provide sufficient accuracy of target location. In this paper, a controller design is proposed which homes a mobile robot to an object of unknown location using Bluetooth 5.1 Angle of Arrival (AoA) technology. The proposed setup consists of a target object with a Bluetooth beacon and a single Bluetooth antenna array mounted on a mobile robot. The controller uses a hybrid approach to calculating and updating the estimated target position by implementing parallax and vector position calculations from AoA and RSSI Bluetooth data. Simulations with various levels of sensor noise showed convergence to accurate target positions (mean accuracy of 0.12 m or less) in both obstacle-free and obstacle-present environments. The controller can be implemented as a standalone controller by directly commanding robot motion toward the target, or it can integrate with other existing robot navigation techniques by outputting a target position. Implementing mobile health (mHealth) in low- and -middle-income countries, utilizing internet coverage, is a promising way of improving the accessibility and quality of palliative care. This study aims to develop a mobile application for smartphones that will enable better communication between family carers, community carers, and palliative care teams whilealso assessing its acceptability, functionality, and efficacy mechanisms. The process of code signing the app involves collaboration with various stakeholders from China, Eastland, and Southern Land. The study includes training for carers on using the app to transmit weekly patient-reported outcomes to their palliative care providers via a centralized data dashboard. In total, 150 carers have submitted 828 assessments which were transmitted to the palliative care team through an outcome dashboard utilized on 355 occasions. Qualitative data collected through interviews reveal that both users and healthcare professionals have positive views of the app's effectiveness in enhancing symptom comprehension among team members as well as conveying patients' concerns appropriately. Additionally, incorporating more feedback mechanisms for carers, along with individual needs-based prioritization strategies could make this app even more effective. "Manufactured homes," otherwise known as "mobile homes," are one of the last vestiges of truly affordable housing in the United States. With funding drying up for government-subsidized rental programs, manufactured homes are an attractive form of naturally occurring affordable housing that enable low-income communities to attain home ownership and build equity. Manufactured home owners are simultaneously owners and renters. Although they own their homes, they rent the land underneath, and remain vulnerable to eviction. Manufactured homes are no longer mobile, and once the structure is placed on a lot and hooked up to plumbing, it is nearly impossible to move. Many residents of manufactured housing communities live on fixed-incomes and cannot afford the rent spikes that are now commonplace when park ownership switches from individual landlord to corporate ownership. When rent increases, many tenants have no choice but to abandon their homes. Landlords do not experience a loss of rental income because they can find a replacement tenant willing to live in the abandoned home. Opportunity to Purchase (OTP) policies hold the potential to stop this cycle. OTP policies require park owners to provide residents notice when they intend to sell the park. Landlords must allow tenants to make a bid, and in some states, are required to accept the residents' bid on the park if tenants are able to match the best and final offer. OTP policies must be swiftly adopted, but advocates and policymakers remain fearful of legal challenges under the Takings Clause. Two lower court rulings have held that OTP policies take private properly without just compensation because of the policy's infringement of the owner's right to dispose or sell the property to a party of their choosing. The "essentialist" rationale of these and other courts, upholding a single property right as fundamental, and therefore impenetrable, is fundamentally flawed. At a time when an essentialist application of the Fifth Amendment threatens any policy that challenges the status quo, a more integrated view of property rights must be utilized by courts to safeguard OTP and other policies from takings challenges. Illness has a way of disorientating us, as if we are cast adrift in a foreign land. Like strangers in a dessert we seek oasis to recollect ourselves, find refuge and learn to build our own shelters. Using the philosophy of Levinas and Derrida, we can interpret health care providers (HCP), and the sites from which they act (e.g. hospitals), as dwelling hosts that offer hospitality to strangers in this foreign land. While often the dwellings are physical (e.g. hospitals), this is not always the case. Language represents a mobile home of refuge to the sick. Using language the HCP has built a shelter so as to dwell in the land of illness. However, while hospitality is an inviting concept, it also implies hostility. The door that opens may also be slammed shut. This article explores the paradox of the linguistic mobile home offered to patients. It highlights the power of language to construct a safe place in a strange land, but also explores the inherent violence. Introduction: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused serious public health problems and compromised the health of individuals and communities. This study aimed to evaluate a Distance e-Learning from the perspective of medical students in the Gynecology ward during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Material and methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at the Iran University of Medical from the September 2020 to September 2021. The study sample included 130 medical students who participated in distance training courses in the gynecology ward during the COVID-19 pandemic. All medical students were included for the study. Medical students (externs and interns), who received Distance eLearning in the gynecology ward during the study, were included. The self-administered questionnaire was used in this study. Questionnaires was developed through literature review and consultation with gynecology and eLearning experts. Face and content validity was established by eight experts. Internal consistency was assessed with Cronbach's alpha. Results: The questionnaire was sent to 170 medical students. Of the 130 respondents 65% were female and 35% were male. There were 57 (43.8%) externs and 73 (56.2) interns. Most students agreed that mobile devices increase their learning and home is the preferred place for participation in DE. Most students (66.9%) either strongly disagreed or disagreed that Distance e-Learning was an appropriate method for learning basic clinical skills.72.3% of respondents strongly disagreed or disagreed that Distance e-Learning provided them an opportunity to practice clinical skills effectively. Most medical students (69.3%) strongly agreed or agreed that Distance e-Learning created more opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge directly to medical practice. Over the last three decades, the severity and frequency of natural disasters has experienced an increasing trend. As a result, the numbers of post-disaster displaced people have reached unprecedented levels. In the United States, the common temporary housing units supplied for increased demand are manufactured homes or travel trailers. There are a variety of temporary housing unit options, including but not limited to manufactured units, prefabricated modular units, prefabricated kit homes, and tenting options. In order to hedge housing disruptions, a diverse portfolio of temporary housing options must be ready for implementation; however, without proper planning the variability in temporary housing options would result in uncertainty within the supply chain for housing the displaced populations. To evaluate temporary housing options in a systematic way and reduce uncertainty in disaster response, this study proposes a multicriteria decision analysis (MCDA) to evaluate temporary housing alternatives and plan in advance for a diverse temporary housing portfolio. According to experts' input, the study reveals that Manufactured Homes are preferred which is confirmed by its ranking under each MCDA methodology. In addition, this study finds that the inclusion of prefabricated kit supplies and modular units benefits the existing portfolio of manufactured temporary housing units. The demand for last-mile parcel delivery services is expected to increase. Great efforts are therefore being made to develop new ideas for more efficient last-mile delivery. One of the more recent concepts are Mobile Parcel Lockers (MPL), which can be easily repositioned to meet the actual daily demand for deliveries. In this work, we introduce the Mobile Home Delivery Parcel Locker (MHDPL) problem. Therein, a single vehicle can provide both, MPL service and Attended Home Deliveries (AHD), the current industry standard. Hence, the MHDPL problem integrates two characteristics: the simultaneous delivery of many customers as with MPLs, and the delivery of particularly remote customers in a short time as with AHDs. We present a mathematical formulation and propose an Iterated Local Search (ILS) as a solution approach. Since our ILS works on a time-space network, we introduce new problem and network-specific operators. The performance of the ILS is evaluated and the efficiency of the new service is analyzed in terms of various instance and customer characteristics, comparing it to dedicated MPL and AHD services. Our computational analysis reveals that the combination of services has economic potential and satisfies customer preferences more effectively. Understanding experiences of a less mobile life under COVID-19 offers insights into the taken-for-granted meanings of mobility in daily life, and into new opportunities for low-carbon mobility transitions associated with working from home. Drawing on 50 written interviews, this article explores meanings attributed to living without commuting during lockdown, examining what people missed and what they appreciated. The results indicate that the majority of respondents miss multiple aspects of daily mobility but have also discovered new experiences and routines that hold their daily life together and make it pleasant. Our findings thereby emphasize an often-neglected aspect in transport research: the complexity and ambivalence of people's relationship with daily mobility. Here, commuting is seen simultaneously as a tiresome burden, but also as a key source of interaction with the wider world which is important in sustaining people's sense of daily balance. Furthermore, 'compensatory mobilities' emerge as a widespread practice which helps people retain aspects they miss about commuting while working from home. This practice, we suggest, underscores the intrinsic enjoyment associated with being on the move, and is important for unraveling the potential impacts of working from home on people's mobility carbon footprint. The 8 March 2020 Magna M5.7 earthquake struck 4 km north-northwest of the Magna township located about 20 km (12 mi) west of downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. This article documents the performance of the natural gas system in the Magna earthquake. From a system-wide perspective, the gas system performed well with no leaks in transmission pipes, 1 leak in distribution mains, 11 leaks in lateral services, and 468 leaks at gas meter sets. There were no fires associated with gas leaks. Good performance can be attributed in part to the earthquake having relatively low intensity and short duration over much of the region as well as widespread use of steel for transmission and polyethylene (PE) for distribution pipes. About one-in-four mobile homes located close to the epicenter suffered extensive damage with many suffering gas leaks. This article also elaborates on issues with meter sets adjacent to mobile homes. For decades, studies have shown that white households have greater access and benefit most from the racialized US housing market. Homeownership is the material realization of the American dream, and for many it is read alongside middle‐classness and normativity as cultural markers of hegemonic whiteness. Conversely, this article explores personal narratives from white homeowners that are excluded from this dominant understanding: white mobile‐homeowners. I apply the concept of "untruths" to illustrate how my interlocutors discursively situated their racialized hopes, anxieties, and aspirations against the disparaging "white‐trailer trash" trope. I then consider how I, as a white, working‐class anthropologist conducting "home‐work," was figured into these narratives as representing this idealized—yet deeply problematic—whiteness. Bringing together anthropological perspectives on lies and sincerity, I show how white racial "untruths" reveal a more complex and fragmented whiteness that belies the dreamlike fiction of hegemonic white normativity. Provision of "affordable" housing is increasingly becoming an extremely challenging as well as complex issue. There is no tailor‐made, well‐defined definition of "affordable" where urban housing is concerned. Large metropolitan cities such as Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, and so forth, have teeming populations living in large slums. The Burrabazar or Bara Bazar area in Central Kolkata is extremely populous. This also shows how dire the necessity of proper shelter for these poor migrants as well as other laborers and poor of the area. A sample of 100 laborers (both migrants as well as locals) was selected randomly and surveyed with a questionnaire comprising 41 main questions from the Burrabazar area, starting from the Ganesh Talkies area. The respondents were semiskilled to unskilled workers involved in physically hazardous occupations like handheld rickshaw pullers, "mutiyahs," manual scavengers, small deliverymen, domestic help, and so forth, mainly in the age group of 25–55 years. The entire sample survey was started and carried out in the month of February 2016 in all the wards of Burrabazar. A two‐pronged approach is suggested as a remedy for this problem of an affordable place to stay. The first is to provide hostel‐type "homes" where they will be able to stay in groups and obtain meals at cheap prices. It will be of a minimum value so that not only they obtain a safe and secure place to stay, and a bed but also at least a couple of healthy and nutritious meals as well as medicines (in times of emergency). The second option is "mobile homes." This is not only a very interesting concept but is also extremely useful. Since these mobile homes can be moved they can be kept anywhere with proper permission from the municipality and the other concerned authorities, say the local police.
