A comparative study of Love-type wave vibrations in a distinct piezoelectric (PE) material thin film with a highly and weakly dielectric interface with an elastic pre-stressed elastic plate is investigated analytically. Using the PZT-2, PZT-4, PZT-5H, LiNbO3 and BaTiO3 numerical data for the PE material, we achieved significant outcomes of PE and flexoelectric effect in the study. Dispersion equations are achieved analytically for both electrically open and short cases together with highly and weekly conducting interfaces in the transcendental complex form. Outcomes specify that microstructures having flexoelectricity has a significant influence on dispersion features. The existence of flexoelectricity shows that complex phase velocity with a positive imaginary part increases the phase velocity of considered waves with time. Numerical results are highlighted graphically and validated with existing results. The present study is a prior attempt to show the flexoelectricity influence with weekly and highly conducting interfaces and also to show that the outcomes are significant to obtain better surface acoustic wave device's performance. Extraction of atmospheric water using a passive mechanism instead of a complex and advanced equipment has become an emerging subject. There is a clear record in MengxiBitan by Shen Kuo(1031~1095) that an ink slab has the ability to collect water from the air. Its mechanism is exactly similar to the Fangzhu [1], a recently investigated device for atmospheric water harvesting (AWH). Based on the Fangzhu device, a mathematical model for the AWH mechanism in ink slab-like materials is suggested. Using He's frequency formulation and two-scale fractal derivatives the possible working mechanism of ink slab-like materials is investigated. The potential applications of ink slab-like structures for AWH in interior and exterior architecture are also presented and discussed. Complex mechanical systems usually include nonlinear interactions between their components which can be modeled by nonlinear equations that describe the sophisticated motion of the system. In order to interpret the nonlinear dynamics of these systems, it is necessary to compute their nonlinear frequencies more precisely. The nonlinear vibration process of a conservative oscillator always follows the law of energy conservation. A variational formulation is constructed and its Hamiltonian invariant is obtained. This paper suggests a Hamiltonian-based formulation to quickly determine the frequency property of the nonlinear oscillator. An example is given to explicate the solution process. In this paper, Lamb wave propagation in a homogeneous and isotropic non-classical micro/nano-plates is investigated. To consider the effect of material microstructure on the wave propagation, three size-dependent models namely indeterminate-, modified- and consistent couple stress theories are used to extract the dispersion equations. In the mentioned theories, a parameter called ‘characteristic length’ is used to consider the size of material microstructure in the governing equations. To generalize the parametric studies and examine the effect of thickness, propagation wavelength, and characteristic length on the behavior of miniature plate structures, the governing equations are nondimensionalized by defining appropriate dimensionless parameters. Then the dispersion curves for phase and group velocities are plotted in terms of a wide frequency-thickness range to study the lamb waves propagation considering microstructure effects in very high frequencies. According to the illustrated results, it was observed that the couple stress theories in the Cosserat type material predict more rigidity than the classical theory; so that in a plate with constant thickness, by increasing the thickness to characteristic length ratio, the results approach to the classical theory, and by reducing this ratio, wave propagation speed in the plate is significantly increased. In addition, it is demonstrated that for high-frequency Lamb waves, it converges to dispersive Rayleigh wave velocity. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
