Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) represents one of the most critical oncological diseases in neurological practice, being considered highly aggressive with a dismal prognosis. At a worldwide level, new therapeutic methods are continuously being researched. Magnetic hyperthermia (MHT) has been investigated for more than 30 years as a solution used as a single therapy or combined with others for glioma tumor assessment in preclinical and clinical studies. It is based on magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) that are injected into the tumor, and, under the effect of an external alternating magnetic field, they produce heat with temperatures higher than 42 °C, which determines cancer cell death. It is well known that iron oxide nanoparticles have received FDA approval for anemia treatment and to be used as contrast substances in the medical imagining domain. Today, energetic, efficient MNPs are developed that are especially dedicated to MHT treatments. In this review, the subject's importance will be emphasized by specifying the number of patients with cancer worldwide, presenting the main features of GBM, and detailing the physical theory accompanying the MHT treatment. Then, synthesis routes for thermally efficient MNP manufacturing, strategies adopted in practice for increasing MHT heat performance, and significant in vitro and in vivo studies are presented. This review paper also includes combined cancer therapies, the main reasons for using these approaches with MHT, and important clinical studies on human subjects found in the literature. This review ends by describing the most critical challenges associated with MHT and future perspectives. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an important global public health issue and intensive care units (ICUs) are the first target for monitoring antibiotic consumption because of their important antibiotic use. We performed a monocentric, retrospective, and observational study for five years to evaluate the consumption and cost of antibiotics in the ICUs of Oradea County Emergency Clinical Hospital, Romania. The prescribed antibiotic amount was expressed in DDD/100 patient days and costs in EUR. The first ten antibiotics prescribed represent 84.81% of the total, and ceftriaxone and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid are half of them. Most antibiotics prescribed belong to the WHO Watch category and less to Access contrary to recommendations. The highest costs related to antibiotic therapy in the ICUs were for prescriptions of ceftazidime/avibactam, cefoperazone/sulbactam, colistin, meropenem, tigecycline, ceftriaxone, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, moxifloxacin, ertapenem, vancomycin, linezolid, ciprofloxacin and piperacillin/tazobactam. The costs with the prescriptions of meropenem, tigecycline, vancomycin, moxifloxacin, and ciprofloxacin show an increasing trend, while the costs with the prescriptions of ceftriaxone, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, ertapenem, piperacillin/tazobactam were relatively constant. Our results provide several aspects of inappropriate use of antibiotics which allowed measures to avoid certain expenses and an important step towards the rationalization of antibiotic use. Migraine is the second most debilitating condition affecting a significant portion of the general population, particularly young adults under 50. Despite extensive research, the etiology of migraine remains diverse and often multifactorial, with limited clarity on the specific underlying pathogenic processes. Consequently, the treatment of migraine lacks a mechanism-based approach. We present the case of a young female patient suffering for 8 years of chronic migraine and tension-type headaches. The article presents the discussion on cognitive disorders having memory impairment and diminished social interactions. Topics include mental decline being a consequence of decreased body fluids in the brain of elders; and presenting progressive confusion, sleep disorders, and, most importantly memory loss.

In December 2019, in Wuhan, China, the first cases of infection with SARS-CoV 2 responsible for COVID-19 disease were identified. SARS-CoV 2 was declared a pandemic on March 11, 2020, and since then has attracted the medical world's attention. The threat to humans' health that this emerging pandemic could leave raises awareness on the importance of understanding the mechanisms that underlie the developing conditions. The epidemiology, clinical picture, and pathogenesis of COVID-19 show that this virus presents new strategies to overcome the past defensive medicine. While all the current data has focused on the pulmonary and cardiovascular manifestations, little has been written about the neurological implications of the disease. This review updates new clinical aspects that SARS-CoV 2 expresses in humans by focusing primarily on neurological manifestations. The damage to the nervous system became more apparent - anosmia, ageusia, polyneuritis, meningitis, meningoencephalitis, stroke, acute necrotizing encephalopathy. An editorial is presented that Globalization is the process by which ideas, knowledge, in formation, goods, and services are disseminated worldwide which is directly linked to free trade and the free flow of capital between countries. It also discusses that economic globalization is that in which specialized coun tries could produce materials and products more efficiently, with high benefits within a very short timeframe.

Introduction. Sofia Ionescu-Ogrezeanu (b. April 25, 1920, Fălticeni - d. March 21, 2008, Bucharest), also known as the Lady of Romanian Neurosurgery, became the first woman neurosurgeon in the world after performing a brain surgery during World War II, a fact recognized as a world premiere during the 13th World Congress of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) in Morocco, in 2005. [1] Materials and methods. Sofia Ionescu is the first woman neurosurgeon. She was born on the fields of Bucovina, in Fălticeni, and became part of the "golden team" of the Romanian neurosurgery of the pioneering period. The decisive moment of her career took place in 1944, during the war when she was forced to perform an emergency operation on a child, a victim of the bombing. The article coagulates the reports regarding the description of the first brain surgery performed by the first woman neurosurgeon with the continuous activity integrated with the field of neurosurgery. Both specialized articles, biographical books, and television interviews were used as references. Results. The operation performed in the fifth year of faculty was the first step of a journey of 47 years of neurosurgical career, practised with high morality and devotion. The sacrifice of the pioneer of the first woman neurosurgeon was recognized in the press in the country and abroad, as well as by the recognition of different titles and distinctions. Three methods of treating the Ti and Ti-6Al-4V alloy surface used as dental implants have been tried both to increase the corrosion resistance and to create diffusion barriers, which prevent the release of toxic ions in the body, at the separation surface, implant living tissue. The anticorrosive performances of the experimental oxide films, realized on the pure Ti and Ti-6Al-4V alloy were evaluated electrochemically by cyclic voltammetry after immersion of samples in Ringer's solution at 37°C. The A2-Ti sample (Ti-6Al-4V alloy anodized with H3PO4, 1N, and citric acid, 20 g/l electrolyte solution) shows lower viability values, compared to the other samples, with a tendency to decrease after 48h of incubation. The cytotoxic effect is slightly higher in A1-Ti (Ti-6Al-4V alloy anodized with 0.6% H3PO4 electrolyte solution) compared to Ti over a period. This can be attributed to the presence of aluminium and vanadium. The results revealed that the specific processing of titanium and titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) by obtaining an oxide layer influence the toxicity that is stabilize and decrease with time, which makes to be used in dental implantology.
