The Brief is a quarterly magazine published by the American Bar Association (ABA) for lawyers practicing tort and insurance law. Abstract

The article discusses the importance of an impartial, fair, and independent U.S. judiciary. It is noted that the issue is devoted to articles on this topic at the request of the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section chair, Peter Bennett. Concerns are raised that political attacks on the judiciary will make it more susceptible to political partisanship and public opinion polls rather than to justice. Ways in which public confidence in the judiciary system can be boosted are described.

As a small firm partner he notes that he needs to be more knowledgeable about the business of law, more versatile in using and understanding basic office technology, and more involved in the management of the firm. He also cites the issues of efficiency, accountability and autonomy in the small firm setting.
