Médecin de bord et philologue autodidacte, Alphonse Bos (1835-1913) entre en correspondance avec Hugo Schuchardt parl’entremise de Gaston Paris en 1882. Bos partage notamment, avec les deux savants, des observations linguistiques sur les parlers créolestirées de ses nombreux voyages pour le compte de la compagnie des Messageries Maritimes entre Marseille, l’Extrême-Orient et l’Australie. Lors de ses voyages, il se trouve également confronté aux sabirs des marins, en particulier celui des chauffeurs arabes, né dans l’atmosphère confinée, hiérarchisée et étouffante des soutes à charbon. Cet article offre une plongée dans le monde philologicomaritime du docteur Bos.

El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar el impacto del control estratégico de Rhipicephalus microplus sobre la ganancia de peso de vaquillas Braford en el noreste de Argentina. Se realizaron dos experimentos con un diseño similar en localidades de Corrientes (Colonia Tabay) y Chaco (Colonia Benítez). Los distintos grupos de vaquillas fueron sujetos a esquemas de control estratégico que consistieron en la aplicación de tres o cuatro productos garrapaticidas entre agosto y diciembre, y se compararon el número de garrapatas y la ganancia diaria de peso (GDP) entre estos y un grupo testigo que no recibió garrapaticidas. En Colonia Tabay, en los dos grupos tratados con esquemas de control estratégico la GDP fue significativamente mayor que en el grupo testigo con mayor nivel de infestación con garrapatas. El grupo sujeto a control estratégico en Colonia Benítez también tuvo una GDP significativamente mayor que el grupo testigo. Las diferencias en las GDP entre los grupos de animales sujetos a control estratégico y aquellos mantenidos como grupos testigo fluctuó entre 0.09 y 0.149 kg/día. Para el período evaluado en este trabajo (nueve meses), la aplicación del control estratégico contra R. microplus implicó una ganancia diferencial con respecto a los grupos sin tratamientos de 29 y 42 kg en promedio en las vaquillas de Colonia Tabay y de 25 kg en aquellas de Colonia Benítez. De los resultados se desprende que la aplicación de esquemas de tratamientos estratégicos para controlar la infestación con R. microplus en el noreste de Argentina contribuye a disminuir significativamente la abundancia de garrapatas y posibilita obtener mejores ganancias de peso vivo en bovinos en crecimiento al prevenir altos niveles de parasitación en los animales. The objective of this study was to analyze the impact of the strategic control of Rhipicephalus microplus on body weight gain of Braford heifers in northeastern Argentina. Two experiments with a similar design were carried out in Corrientes (Colonia Tabay) and Chaco (Colonia Benítez) Provinces. Strategic control schemes were applied different groups of heifers with the application of three or four treatments with chemical acaricides between August and December, and the number of ticks and the daily weight gain (GDP) were compared between them and with a control group without treatments. In Colonia Tabay, the GDP in the two groups treated with strategic control schemes was significantly higher than in the control group, which had higher level of infestation with ticks. The group subjected to strategic control in Colonia Benítez also had a significantly higher GDP than the control group. Differences in GDP between groups subjected to strategic control and control groups fluctuated between 0.09 and 0.149 kg/day. The application of strategic control against R. microplus implied a differential mean weight gain regarding the groups without treatments of 29 and 42 kg in Colonia Tabay heifers and 25 kg in Colonia Benítez. The results show that the application of strategic treatment schemes to control infestation with R. microplus in northeastern Argentina contributes to significantly reduce the abundance of ticks and enable obtain better body weight gains in growing cattle by preventing high levels of parasitism on animals. La aplicación de acaricidas químicos sintéticos sobre los bovinos es, al día de hoy, la principal herramienta disponible para el control exitoso de la garrapata Rhipicephalus(Boophilus) microplus. A pesar de la disponibilidad de acaricidas comerciales formulados con distintos grupos químicos (piretroides, organofosforados, formamidinas, benzoilureas, fenilpirazoles, avermectinas) o combinaciones de los mismos, el surgimiento de poblaciones de garrapatas resistentes a uno o más grupos de drogas constituye una limitante para la aplicación y eficacia de estas herramientas. Otro problema relevante asociado al empleo de acaricidas químicos sintéticos es aquel relacionado a las restricciones para el consumo de la carne o leche que imponen los períodos de carencia de determinados principios activos, que tienen un impacto directo en su comercialización. La casi exclusiva dependencia de los acaricidas químicos sintéticos para el control de la garrapata común del bovino, asociada a los problemas de resistencia y contaminación, ponen en evidencia la necesidad de aplicar esquemas de tratamientos garrapaticidas que minimicen el número y la frecuencia de los mismos, pero que alcancen niveles de eficacia compatibles con los parámetros productivos y económicos de los establecimientos ganaderos. International audience; Cretaceous ambers have been discovered in France since the beginning of the 18th century. The best known are those from south-western France which are Late Albian-Early Cenomanian in age, but there are other important amber deposits in other regions. Here, we summarise the data on one of these other Cretaceous amber regions, the Sarthe Department. These deposits have been mentioned in the literature since the end of the 18th century, but they have remained relatively unknown. The material, that has been studied during the 1970's and 1980's, yielded a well-diversified arthropod fauna (72 arthropod specimens, including arachnids, cockroaches, bugs, beetles, flies, wasps...) dated to late Early-Middle Cenomanian. In the last decade, 4 types of bacteria, a possible testate amoeba and fungal remains were also found. A re-examination of the historical collections of the Sarthe amber, housed in the "Musée Vert" (Le Mans, France), allows to estimate the geographical extent of the amber deposits in the Sarthe Department. The study of the microfossils of these samples provides new data on their palaeoenvironment.

Fluid pressure changes into subsurface rocks affect fault stability, and can induce both earthquakes and aseismic deformation. Nonetheless, the interplay between fluid pressure, earthquakes and aseismic fault slip is unclear. Here, I investigate, with 3D seismo-hydro-mechanical modeling, the mechanisms behind seismic and aseismic deformation occurring on a single permeable fault governed by a slip-weakening friction law during fluid injection. The main objective is to understand how the fault responds to a fluid injection, and to identify what fault properties influence the seismic and aseismic behaviors that are observed in experiments and during large-scale fluid manipulations. Our model allows to test different fault pre-stress conditions as well as hydromechanical (initial permeability, dilation angle) and frictional (friction drop, critical slip distance) fault parameters. The simulations mainly result in the expansion of an aseismic region around the injection. Pronounced shear stresses are concentrated at the edge of this expanding zone, where seismicity is triggered due to this stress perturbation. We find that the seismicity follows the aseismic slip front rather than the fluid pressure diffusion front. The moment released during an injection simulation is mostly aseismic, with less than 5% of seismic deformation, consistent with observations in in-situ experiments (Guglielmi et al., 2015a; De Barros et al., 2018). The seismic moment increases mostly with an increase of the pre-stress and of the friction drop. It also increases in a smaller way with a decrease of the initial permeability and of the characteristic slip distance. Modifying these four fault parameters do not lead to an usual moment-injected fluid volume relationship (McGarr & Barbour, 2018; Galis et al., 2017). The b-value, which varies with these four parameters, shows a semi-logarithmic relationship with the seismic moment partition. Moreover, the pre-stress as well as the injection duration act on the maximum magnitude reached after injection stops. These results exhibit features observed in field injection experiments at the decametric scale and fluid manipulations at the reservoir scale. Therefore, these modeling studies can help understand and mitigate the seismic risk due to fluid injection in the subsurface., Les variations de pression de fluide lors d’une injection hydraulique dans une faille affectent la stabilité de la faille. Ainsi, elles peuvent engendrer du glissement sismique et asismique sur la faille. Cependant, les relations entre la pression de fluide, le glissement asismique et la sismicité sont encore mal comprises. Dans cette thèse, j’ai exploré, avec des modélisations 3D sismo-hydro-mécaniques, les mécanismes régissant la déformation sismique et asismique d’une faille perméable gouvernée par une loi de friction « slip-weakening » lors d’une injection ponctuelle. L’objectif principal de ce travail est de mieux comprendre comment une faille répond à une injection de fluide, et aussi d’identifier les propriétés des failles qui contrôlent les comportements sismiques et asismiques observés dans des expériences in-situ et lors de manipulations de fluides en profondeur dans des réservoirs géologiques. Le modèle permet de tester différents états de contraintes sur la faille, et aussi de tester l’influence de différents paramètres hydromécaniques (perméabilité initiale, angle de dilatance) et frictionnels (chute de friction, distance caractéristique de glissement) sur la réponse hydromécanique de la faille. Un glissement asismique de forme elliptique, croissant au cours de l’injection, est observé dans les différentes simulations. Les contraintes cisaillantes s’accumulent au bord de ce patch asismique, ce qui induit des événements sismiques. Dans cette série de simulations, la sismicité suit le front de glissement asismique plutôt que le front de diffusion de pression. La déformation relâchée au cours d’une simulation est majoritairement asismique, avec un moment sismique inférieur à 5% du moment total, conformément aux observations sismologiques acquises lors d’expérience in situ (Guglielmi et al., 2015a; De Barros et al., 2018). Les résultats des modèles montrent aussi que le moment sismique augmente principalement avec une augmentation de la proximité initiale des contraintes à la rupture de la faille et avec la chute de friction, mais aussi, d’une moindre manière, avec une diminution de la perméabilité et de la distance caractéristique de glissement. Modifier la valeur de ces quatre paramètres ne permet pas de reproduire les relations classiques du moment et du volume de fluide injecté (McGarr & Barbour, 2018 ; Galis et al., 2017). Les variations de la b-value avec ces quatre paramètres suivent une relation semi-logarithmique avec la partition sismique du moment. De plus, l’état de contrainte avant l’injection ainsi que la durée de l’injection influent sur la magnitude maximale observée après l’arrêt de l’injection. Ces résultats montrent des caractéristiques observées lors d’expériences d’injection in-situ dans des réservoirs à échelle décamétrique et kilométrique. Ainsi, ces résultats peuvent contribuer à mieux comprendre et anticiper le risque sismique lors d’une injection de fluide en profondeur.
