O presente estudo visou investigar os sentimentos maternos frente às aquisições de desenvolvimento da criança entre os 24 e 28 meses. Participaram16 mães primíparas, com idade entre 21 e 36 anos, de nível socioeconômico, escolaridade e status ocupacional variados, residentes na região metropolitana de Porto Alegre, com o companheiro. Foi realizada entrevista semiestruturada, submetida à análise qualitativa de conteúdo, abordando a experiência da maternidade e o desenvolvimento da criança. As mães relataram ampliação do vocabulário, motricidade e capacidade de compreensão e memória, bem como oscilação de independência e dependência da criança. Diante dessas aquisições foram expressos sentimentos maternos de prazer, admiração e gratificação, por um lado, e de cansaço, irritação e stress por outro. Essas mudanças e o modo como a mãe e a criança lidam com elas, ajudam a configurar seus relacionamentos com o mundo externo e repercutem nas interações entre ambas. The aim of the present study was to investigate maternal feelings towards their child’s developmental acquisitions from 24 to 28 months. Sixteen primiparous mothers, aged 21 to 36, from different socioeconomic backgrounds, took part in the study. They lived with their partners, in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. A semi-structured interview was held, which was analyzed using a qualitative content analysis. The analysis focused on maternal experience and child development. Mothers reported a growth of vocabulary, motor skills, understanding and memory capacity, as well as the oscillation in the child´s independence and dependence. Maternal feelings of pleasure, admiration and gratification were expressed as well as feelings of tiredness, irritation and stress. These changes and the way mother and child deal with them help to strengthen their relationships with the outside world, and also influence their mother-child interactions.

O objetivo foi identificar nas histórias de vida das mães, as estratégias desenvolvidas para conviver com o HIV e com a criança soropositivo para o HIV. Utilizou abordagem qualitativa e teve como método de coleta a História de Vida. Os sujeitos foram três mães HIV positivo no contexto de um Hospital-dia em Florianópolis-SC. A partir da análise temática de Bardin emergiram três categorias: memórias da infância; adolescência e maturidade. Os resultados enfocam estratégias desenvolvidas pelas mães para conviver com HIV, dentre estas, apoio familiar, religioso, prevenção, assim como, as estratégias das mesmas no convívio com a criança também com HIV, das quais temos, tratamento medicamentoso; revelação do diagnóstico à criança; cuidados diários, entre outros. Concluímos que tais estratégias desenvolvidas/adaptadas pelas mães no convívio com o HIV em si e na criança foram influenciadas pela sua cultura e experiências ao longo da sua história de vida. The objective of this study was to identify strategies of living with HIV in the life histories of HIV-positive mothers and children. It uses the qualitative approach and the Life History as a source of data collection. The subjects were three HIV-positive mothers within the context of a Day-Hospital in Florianópolis - SC - Brazil. Based on the Bardin's thematic analysis, three categories emerged: childhood, adolescence, and maturity memories. The results pointed out strategies developed by the mothers for living with HIV, among which were family, religious, prevention, and support. It also pointed out strategies developed for living with an HIV-positive child, such as as medical treatment, revealing the diagnosis to the child, daily care, and others. We concluded that these strategies developed/adapted by the mothers in living with HIV itself and the child were influenced by their cultures and experiences throughout their life history. El objetivo del estudio fue identificar en las historias de vida de las madres, las estrategias desarrolladas para convivir con el VIH, y con el niño seropositivo para el VIH. Se utilizó el abordaje cualitativo, y el método para la recolección de datos fue la Historia de Vida. Los sujetos fueron tres madres con VIH positivo. Los sujetos fueron tres madres con VIH positivo, en el contexto de un Hospital-Día en Florianópolis-SC. Se utilizó el análisis temático de Bardin, del cual emergieron tres categorías: memorias de la infancia, adolescencia, y madurez. Los resultados focalizan las estrategias desarrolladas por las madres para convivir con VIH: apoyo familiar, religioso, prevención, así como, las estrategias de las mismas en su convivencia con el niño con VIH: tratamiento medicamentoso; revelación del diagnóstico al niño; cuidados diarios, entre otras. Concluimos que tales estrategias desarrolladas/ adaptadas por las madres en su convivencia con el VIH, en sí mismas y en el niño, fueron influenciadas por su cultura y por sus experiencias a lo largo de su historia de vida.

Participaram 25 mulheres, no último trimestre de gestação, com idades entre 28 e 43 anos. Todas residiam com o pai dos dois filhos, em Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. Realizou-se entrevista semiestruturada, submetida à análise qualitativa de conteúdo. Os resultados indicaram diferentes expectativas maternas quanto ao segundo filho, tanto em relação ao sexo e ao nome, como quanto às características emocionais e físicas, com destaque para as comparações com o primogênito. As mães grávidas do segundo bebê depararam com o desafio de acolher e aceitar o desconhecido. O significado do segundo filho para a mãe ainda precisa ser contemplado em estudos sobre o tema. The present study aimed to investigate the expectations and feelings of pregnant women regarding their second child. A total of 25 second-time mothers, aged 28 to 43, in the last trimester of their second pregnancy, took part in the study. They lived with their partners, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. A semi-structured interview was carried out, which was analyzed according to qualitative content analysis. The mothers reported their expectations concerning the second child regarding gender, name, and physical and emotional characteristics, often making comparisons with the firstborn. Mothers who are expecting a new baby are faced with the challenge of welcoming and accepting the unknown that the new infant represents. The meaning the second child has for the mother must be explored in future studies on the subject.
