Existing pedagogical approaches to research source use commonly frame sources as materials to be incorporated "into" texts. The worknets project presented in this article provides an alternative concerned with slowly tracing associations "along" semantic, bibliographic, affinity-based, and choric aspects of the research source and across the contexts from which it was produced. These four sets of associations complement established approaches to source use while also illuminating qualities of a source that draw on network logics to support rhetorical invention and inquiry processes across the disciplines.

The ocean supplies large quantities of thermal energy to tidewater glaciers, but the mechanisms behind the heat delivery are not fully understood. To examine heat flux dynamics in glacial fjords, we run an 8‐year realistic numerical simulation of Milne Fiord, validated with observations. We leverage the duration and spatial resolution of the simulation to calculate ice melt, offshore density variations, average fjord temperature, and heat fluxes at different locations along‐fjord. Correlations between these quantities reveal that heat fluxes near the grounding line (<5 km) are linked to buoyancy‐driven circulation while offshore forcing is linked to heat fluxes along the remainder of the fjord. Comparison to a simulation with constant offshore boundary conditions reveals that offshore forcing enhances the exchange between the coastal shelf and the fjord, increasing glacier melt rates by 18%. Including offshore forcing into numerical and box models of glacial fjords is essential for accurate melting predictions. Plain Language Summary: In high latitude coastal regions, glaciers can flow into the ocean. These glaciers, called tidewater glaciers, are therefore exposed to the warming ocean which can drive submarine melting and glacier retreat. Since most tidewater glaciers terminate in fjords, understanding the mechanisms that regulate the exchange of heat between the ice and the ocean in glacial fjords is important for accurate estimates of glacier melt rates and retreat. In this study we recreate Milne Fiord in a numerical model to study these mechanisms. First, we find that the heat transport near the glacier is regulated by the freshwater released at the glacier face. Second, we find that further than 5 km from the glacier, offshore density variations are responsible for the heat exchange, with a net effect of increasing the exchange between the fjord and the open ocean, which enhances the melting of the tidewater glacier. The exchange of heat and freshwater between glaciers and the ocean is dictated by the circulation in glacial fjords and ice shelf cavities. Therefore, our ability to estimate and predict these fluxes depends on our understanding of the circulation mechanisms inside these polar estuaries. Here, we use an exceptionally long observational data set (8+ years) to develop and validate a high‐resolution realistic numerical model of Milne Fiord (Nunavut, Canada), a glacial fjord with an ice shelf at its mouth. Model results show the circulation inside Milne Fiord from 2011 to 2019 is highly three‐dimensional and unsteady. Three distinct circulation modes are identified (eddy, front, barotropic). The shifts between circulation modes are driven by density variations in the offshore coastal current, which restrict vertical stretching, allowing (or not) the coastal current to develop sufficient relative vorticity to enter the fjord. The unsteadiness of the system results in an overturning estuarine circulation with mean velocities ∼50 times smaller than the instantaneous field. Moreover, analysis of the model outputs suggest that at least 2 years of simulation are needed to yield reliable average heat flux estimates in this environment. This work highlights the value of combining long term (>1 year) observations with numerical modeling. This allowed us to uncover the spatial and temporal variability of the system, which impacts how heat and freshwater fluxes can be reliably estimated. Plain Language Summary: Fjords and bays where glaciers end their course in the ocean are common in the Arctic and in Antarctic. The circulation and the interactions between the ocean and glaciers in these polar estuaries has implications for ice loss and sea level rise. It is therefore important to understand the ocean dynamics in glacial fjords (a fjord with a marine terminating glacier) and ice shelf cavities (a water column overlain by the floating extension of a glacier or ice shelf) in order to quantify the impact of the ocean forcing on glaciers. In this study, we use a numerical model to reproduce the ocean conditions in Milne Fiord, a glacial fjord with an ice shelf on the north coast of Ellesmere Island, Nunavut, Canada. The model is validated with in situ observations. The results show that although the velocities are small in Milne Fiord (around 2 cm/s), the circulation is very dynamic. In fact, the circulation pattern is continually changing in response to offshore density variations (no steady‐state). This is problematic for estimating the heat exchange between the ocean and the glacier, because it means limited observations cannot be readily extrapolated in time and space. Presented as a series of graphs, bibliographic data gathered from "College Composition and Communication" provides perspective useful for inquiring into the changing shape of the field as it continues to mature. In its focus on graphing, the article demonstrates an application of distant reading methods to present patterns not only reflective of the most commonly cited figures in "CCC" over the past twenty-five years, but also attendant to a steady increase in the breadth of infrequently cited figures. "EM-Journal" is a flexibly refereed online journal featuring writing produced by students of Eastern Michigan University. The journal showcases a variety of documents (articles, essays, reports, etc.) written and designed by students enrolled in EMU's First-Year Writing (FYW) program, in selected Writing Intensive (WI) courses affiliated with the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program, and in upper- and lower-division undergraduate courses in the Written Communication major and Writing minor. A proposal for "EM-Journal" received unanimous support from EMU's Written Communications Committee in November 2010, and work on the journal began in earnest in January 2011. This article discusses lessons from the successful first year of the "EM-Journal" with regards to design, publishing and circulation.

Views from a Distance is a series of word clouds rendered from 35 chairs' addresses delivered at CCCC conventions from 1977 to 2011. The digital installation invites explorations of word-level patterns and anomalies within this widely recognized collection of speeches. The installation itself is underpinned with the assumption that distinctive forms of knowledge are mobilized through visualization techniques. (Contains 6 notes.)
