2. Dosage constraint of the ribosome-associated molecular chaperone drives the evolution and fates of its duplicates in bacteria

ABSTRACT Gene duplication events happen prevalently during evolution, and the mechanisms governing the loss or retention of duplicated genes are mostly elusive. Our genome scanning analysis revealed that trigger factor (TF), the one and only bacterial ribosome-associated molecular chaperone, is singly copied in virtually every bacterium except for a very few that possess two or more copies. However, even in these exceptions, only one complete TF copy exists, while other homologs lack the N-terminal domain that contains the conserved ribosome binding site (RBS) motif. Consistently, we demonstrated that the overproduction of the N-terminal complete TF proteins is detrimental to the cell, which can be rescued by removing the N-terminal domain. Our findings also indicated that TF overproduction leads to a decrease in protein productivity and profile changes in proteome due to its characteristic ribosome binding and holdase activities. Additionally, these N-terminal deficient TF homologs in bacteria with multiple TF homologs partition the function of TF via subfunctionalization. Our results revealed that TF is subjected to a dosage constraint that originates from its own intrinsic functions, which may drive the evolution and fates of duplicated TFs in bacteria.IMPORTANCEGene duplication events presumably occur in tig, which encodes the ribosome-associated molecular chaperone trigger factor (TF). However, TF is singly copied in virtually every bacterium, and these exceptions with multiple TF homologs always retain only one complete copy while other homologs lack the N-terminal domain. Here, we reveal the manner and mechanism underlying the evolution and fates of TF duplicates in bacteria. We discovered that the mutation-to-loss or retention-to-sub/neofunctionalization of TF duplicates is associated with the dosage constraint of N-terminal complete TF. The dosage constraint of TF is attributed to its characteristic ribosome binding and substrate-holding activities, causing a decrease in protein productivity and profile changes in cellular proteome.

Background: COVID-19 is primarily known as a respiratory illness; however, many patients present to hospital without respiratory symptoms. The association between non-respiratory presentations of COVID-19 and outcomes remains unclear. We investigated risk factors and clinical outcomes in patients with no respiratory symptoms (NRS) and respiratory symptoms (RS) at hospital admission. Methods: This study describes clinical features, physiological parameters, and outcomes of hospitalised COVID-19 patients, stratified by the presence or absence of respiratory symptoms at hospital admission. RS patients had one or more of: cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose or wheezing; while NRS patients did not. Results: Of 178,640 patients in the study, 86.4 % presented with RS, while 13.6 % had NRS. NRS patients were older (median age: NRS: 74 vs RS: 65) and less likely to be admitted to the ICU (NRS: 36.7 % vs RS: 37.5 %). NRS patients had a higher crude in-hospital case-fatality ratio (NRS 41.1 % vs. RS 32.0 %), but a lower risk of death after adjusting for confounders (HR 0.88 [0.83–0.93]). Conclusion: Approximately one in seven COVID-19 patients presented at hospital admission without respiratory symptoms. These patients were older, had lower ICU admission rates, and had a lower risk of in-hospital mortality after adjusting for confounders.

The study was planned to evaluate effect of adding flaxseed oil on meat quality, sensory attributes and fatty acids profile of broiler chicken meat. Further, optimization of supplementalflaxseed oil duration and level was also tested. A n=300 day-old broiler chicken (Ross-308) were procured from the hatchery and randomly divided into 5 treatments, T0 (control) T1 and T2 (3% and 4% flaxseed oil, 14-35 day), while T3 and T4 having (3% and 4% flaxseed oil, 21-35 day) groups respectively. Each treatment contained 6 replicates with 10 chicks per replicate. The T3 tested diet linearly raised n-3 (PUFA) contents. The n-6/n-3 ratio was also significantly lowered from 7.72 to 1.12%. Regardless of dietary flaxseed oil level, LC-PUFA contents were higher in the T2 group. Meat quality traits were not statistically affected while T1 exhibited a significantly increased meat tenderness value, but interestingly, all other sensory attributes remained statistically unaffected. An equivalent amount of n-3 LC-PUFA may be found in 3% dietary flaxseed oil for the last 21 days of rearing with optimized meat quality and sensory attributes. Healthy broiler meat enriched with n-3 fatty acids may be produced by dietary manipulation.

Objective. To create a prediction model for preterm neonatal mortality. Methods. A secondary analysis was conducted using data from a prospective cohort study, the Project to Understand and Research Preterm Pregnancy Outcome South Asia. The Cox proportional hazard model was used and adjusted hazard ratios (AHR) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were reported. Results. Overall, 3446 preterm neonates were included. The mean age of preterm neonates was 0.65 (1.25) hours and 52% were female. The preterm neonatal mortality rate was 23.3%. 10. Identification of Prospective Ebola Virus VP35 and VP40 Protein Inhibitors from Myxobacterial Natural Products

The Ebola virus (EBOV) is a lethal pathogen causing hemorrhagic fever syndrome which remains a global health challenge. In the EBOV, two multifunctional proteins, VP35 and VP40, have significant roles in replication, virion assembly, and budding from the cell and have been identified as druggable targets. In this study, we employed in silico methods comprising molecular docking, molecular dynamic simulations, and pharmacological properties to identify prospective drugs for inhibiting VP35 and VP40 proteins from the myxobacterial bioactive natural product repertoire. Cystobactamid 934-2, Cystobactamid 919-1, and Cittilin A bound firmly to VP35. Meanwhile, 2-Hydroxysorangiadenosine, Enhypyrazinone B, and Sorangiadenosine showed strong binding to the matrix protein VP40. Molecular dynamic simulations revealed that, among these compounds, Cystobactamid 919-1 and 2-Hydroxysorangiadenosine had stable interactions with their respective targets. Similarly, molecular mechanics Poisson–Boltzmann surface area (MMPBSA) calculations indicated close-fitting receptor binding with VP35 or VP40. These two compounds also exhibited good pharmacological properties. In conclusion, we identified Cystobactamid 919-1 and 2-Hydroxysorangiadenosine as potential ligands for EBOV that target VP35 and VP40 proteins. These findings signify an essential step in vitro and in vivo to validate their potential for EBOV inhibition.

The presence of heavy metals in aqueous media can cause serious threats to living organisms. Consequently, for the efficient and economic removal of heavy metals from water, a wide range of biomass as biosorbents has been investigated. The present study was designed to deploy Gossypium hirsutum stem powder as a biosorbent for efficient removal of toxic heavy metals including Pb2+, Cu2+, Zn2+ and Ni2+ ions from aqueous media. The biomass was modified through acid and base treatment prior to its deployment as biosorbent. Different instrumental techniques such as FTIR, SEM and TGA were used to analyze the structural, morphological, and thermal characteristics of biosorbent. AAS, and UV spectrophotometer were used to quantify the metal ions in solutions. Nonlinear models of Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms was explored for practical use in real sample analysis, and adsorption parameters were optimized systematically. The adsorption isotherms followed the non-linear Langmuir model, which best fit four heavy metals with an R2 value (0.99) in both acidic and base-modified biomass. The base treated biomass showed relatively higher maximum uptake capacity for the investigated heavy metals (Pb2+ 121.24, Cu2+ 117.09, Zn2+ 130.65, and Ni2+ 111.09 mg g−1) than that of acid treated biomass. Thermogravimetric analysis revealed the degradation pattern of designed adsorbent. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed the presence of OH and Cl groups which were added during pretreatment. Scanning electron microscopy showed that the modified material has rough surface area which can contribute in enhancing the adsorption of heavy metals. The regeneration studies of modified biosorbent using 0.1 M HNO3 solution demonstrated that the biosorbent can be effectively utilized for further five biosorption cycles without significant loss in its adsorption capability. The findings of the study revealed that acid and base modified Gossypium hirsutum stem could be efficiently utilized as a biosorbent for the removal of heavy metals in water at pH 5.5 with an adsorbent dose of 0.5 g and equilibrium time of 35 min.

Superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT) injury is a main cause of lameness in polo and racehorses inciting long-term lameness and recovery. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of topical dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) on bowed tendons in horses. Ten client-owned injured horses, aged between 5-15 years with an average age of 8.5 years and weighing approximately 400-500 kg, suffering from chronic tendinitis were selected and allocated into two groups: group A (DMSO) and group B (MSM). The group A animals (n=5) were treated with 60 mL of topical 90% DMSO aqueous solution, while Group B animals (n=5) received 60 mL of topical 90% MSM aqueous solution on the bowed tendon at days 0, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, and day 42. Clinical examinations were performed to evaluate the severity of pain and lameness grade. Ultrasound scans of the superficial digital flexor tendon were taken at days 0, 21, and day 42. Images were placed in numerical form, and the fiber alignment score of the fibers (FS) and the echogenicity score (ES) of the superficial digital flexor tendon at the maximum injury zone (MIZ) were recorded. IntroductionA warming global climate is expected to perturb the hydrological cycle, resulting in deviations in both frequency and duration of drought and thus being hypothesized to lead to interannual variation in evapotranspiration (ET). Interannual variation in ET in urban forest ecosystems in response to drought remains poorly understood.MethodsHere, ET in an urban forest reserve in the megalopolis of Beijing was investigated using eddy-covariance measurements collected over six consecutive years (2012–2017).ResultsThe mean annual cumulative ET was 462 ± 83mm (±first standard deviation), with a coefficient of variation of 18%. Interannual variation in both annual and monthly ET was shown to be largely controlled by canopy conductance (gs), affected by environmental factors. The main factors affecting interannual variation in monthly ET varied seasonally, namely, soil volumetric water content (VWC) and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) in spring, precipitation and soil temperature in summer, and VWC and net radiation (Rn) in autumn. Interannual variation in annual ET was driven largely by spring and mid-summer droughts induced by insufficient precipitation during the non-growing and mid-growing seasons, respectively. Spring drought reduced annual ET by restricting leafing out, shortening growing season length (GSL), and reducing the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). The summer drought reduced annual ET by reducing stomatal conductance.Discussion and conclusionResults from this study point to the importance of precipitation timing and volume and the soil moisture carry-over effect in controlling interannual variation in ecosystem ET. Irrigation during the early spring and mid-summer is viewed as a practical management measure for sustaining growth and better ecosystem services in urban forests in Northern China.

Acute pancreatitis results in high morbidity and mortality. Gallstones and alcoholism are considered leading causes of acute pancreatitis. However, increasing prevalence of obesity, diabetes and lifestyle choices has resulted in Hypertriglyceridemia induced pancreatitis (HTAP) becoming more common. HTAP is said to be more severe than other causes. The treatment options available vary including intravenous (IV) insulin, heparin, plasma exchange, fibrates, niacin, omega three fatty acids and dietary restrictions. This is a case report of a patient presenting with HTAP and the dilemma treating physicians faced in trying to balance the need for urgent treatment with invasiveness of procedure and paucity of evidence. Abstract Key words: Behavior, Legitimacy, The Beyond            Villagers Culture is inseparable with their vertical relation to nature. Nature is understood as a sign of caring, protecting and blessing. That concept places nature as the beyond. In the beyond, nature is placed as “thing†which has legitimacy. This phenomenon also happens in Tlogorejo District, Bumiaji Village, Bumiaji Regency Batu City. One of “thing†which is considered as the beyond is Punden Mbah Onggo Dốngso. Punden becomes a place where villagers go to ask for permission if they will hold or certain event such as wedding, khitan or other villagers events. It happens that the sign of nature has a lofty position as a sacred one or the beyond. This statement reflects the truly high degree of respect.            The beyond refers to the unseen reality as the basic power which can give a sign of protection on welfare for society when that place has been understood as the way society care, keep and perform contemplation ritual. Finally the elaboration of the three concepts has encouraged the society to always remember and want to know about the good power of Punden Mbah Onggo Dongso. Therefore the society continuously consider Punden Mbah Onggo Dongso as a place to consult or ask permission before they hold whatever events they want to have.               This research uses qualitative approach with deep analysis through verstehen method from Max Weber. The analysis is done using cyclical method from Miles and Huberman. The result shows that Punden Mbah Onggo Dongso is a from òf celebrating the presence of subject. It is a process of firming the legitimacy and behavior of the collective society. And the conclusion is Punden Mbah Onggo Dongso has become a way of society in appreciating the pagan in their daily behavior norms.      Â

Abstract Background and objectives Burn patients are highly susceptible to invasion by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (MDR-GNB) through post-burn damage. The prevalence of MDR-GNB isolated from burns patients has increased dramatically in the last decade, representing a serious risk to patients admitted to burns units worldwide. The challenges of managing infected burns patients are exacerbated in poor resource settings. This study was designed to develop a pathway for the rapid diagnosis of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Gram-negative infections and identify the bacterial genes including bla OXA1, bla TEM, and bla SHV encoding ESBLs and bla OXA48, bla KPC, bla NDM, and bla VIM encoding carbapenemases from the patient of post burns infection. Methods Clinical isolates were collected (August 2017 to August 2018) from Intensive care unit (ICU) of Burn Centre. Antibiotic susceptibility testing and phenotypic detection of ESBLs and carbapenemases was performed by disk diffusion, double disk synergy test (DDST), combination disk test (CDT), and Imipenem + EDTA combined disk test (IMP + EDTA CDT). Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) detection was performed for ESBLs bla OXA1-bla SHV-bla TEM and carbapenemases genes bla OXA48-bla KPC-bla NDM-bla VIM Results In total, of 170 Gram-negative isolates, 104 (61.2%) were confirmed as multidrug-resistant (MDR); Pseudomonas aeruginosa was found to be the most prevalent 43/104 (41.4%), followed by Klebsiella pneumoniae 17/104 (16.4%), Acinetobacter baumannii12/104 (11.5%), and 6/104 Proteus mirabilis (5.8%). All isolates (100%) were resistant to cefotaxime and ceftazidime, while the meropenem resistance was 58.7%. ESBL and carbapenemase genotypes were found to be associated with higher MAR index (0.65–0.88) and MIC (> 32 µg/ml) values P. aeruginosa was the major ESBL and carbapenemase producer as determined by phenotypic testing and PCR. bla TEM positive isolates among ESBLs producers were predominant 81.8% (27/33), followed by 27.3% bla OXA1 and bla SHV, respectively. bla VIM positive isolates among carbapenemase producers were predominant 47.7% (21/44), followed by 27.3% bla KPC, 20.5% bla OXA48, and 11.4% bla NDM positive isolates. Conclusions The predominant organism causing burn infections was ESBL and carbapenemase-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa. There are only limited effective antibiotics against such strains. bla VIM and bla TEM individually and in co-existence with bla KPC, bla OXA48, bla SHV, and bla OXA1 confer antimicrobial resistance in burns patients. Rapid detection of ESBL and carbapenemase genes will inform treatment strategies improving the outcome for post-burn patients in ICU.

Since Carl Woese’s discovery of archaea as a third domain of life, numerous archaeal species have been discovered, yet archaeal diversity is poorly characterized. Culturing archaea is complicated, but several queries about archaeal cell biology, evolution, physiology, and diversity need to be solved by culturing and culture-dependent techniques. Increasing interest in demand for innovative culturing methods has led to various technological and methodological advances. The current review explains frequent hurdles hindering uncultured archaea isolation and discusses features for more archaeal cultivation. This review also discusses successful strategies and available media for archaeal culturing, which might be helpful for future culturing practices.

23. Frequency, types and predictors of drug therapy problems among non-dialysis chronic kidney disease patients at a tertiary care hospital in Pakistan.

BackgroundDrug therapy problems (DTPs) are common among patients suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, there is a lack of information about DTPs and its predictors among CKD patients from Pakistan.ObjectivesTo evaluate the frequency, type and predictors of various types of DTPs among CKD patients at a tertiary-care hospital in Pakistan.MethodologyThis was a cross-sectional study carried out at Sandeman Provincial Hospital, Quetta between 1-11-2020 and 31-1-2021. It included 303 non-dialysis ambulatory patients of CKD-stage 3 and above. Cipolle et al., criterion was used for classifying the DTPs and a clinician at the study site checked the identified DTPs for accuracy. Data were analyzed by SPSS 23. Multivariate analysis was conducted to find the predictors of individual types of DTPs. A p-value ResultsThe patients received a total of 2265 drugs with a median of eight drugs per patient (range: 3-15 drugs). A total of 576 DTPs were identified among 86.1% patients with a median of two DTPs (interquartile range 1-3) per patient. Dosage too high (53.5%) was the most common DTP followed by adverse drug reactions (ADRs) (50.5%) and need of additional drug therapy (37.6%). In multivariate analysis, patients' age of >40 years emerged as a predictor of unnecessary drug therapy and dosage too high. The odds of needing a different drug product was significantly high in patients with cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and diabetes mellitus (DM). The dosage too low had significant association with CVD. The risk of ADRs was significantly high in elderly patients (>60 years) and those with CVD. The presence of hypertension, DM and CKD stage-5 emerged as predictors of dosage too high.ConclusionThis study revealed a high prevalence of DTPs among CKD patients. Targeted interventions in high risk patients may reduce the frequency of DTPs at the study site.

ANN (Artificial Neural Networks) modeling methodology was adopted for predicting mechanical properties of aluminum cast composite materials. For this purpose aluminum alloy were developed using conventional foundry method. The composite materials have complex nature which posses the nonlinear relationship among heat treatment, processing parameters, and composition and affects their mechanical properties. These nonlinear relation ships with properties can more efficiently be modeled by ANNs. Neural networks modeling needs sufficient data base consisting of mechanical properties, chemical composition and processing parameters. Such data base is not available for modeling. Therefore, a large range of experimental work was carried out for the development of aluminum composite materials. Alloys containing Cu, Mg and Zn as matrix were reinforced with 1- 15% Al2O3 particles using stir casting method. Alloys composites were cast in a metal mold. More than eighty standard samples were prepared for tensile tests. Sixty samples were given solution treatments at 580oC for half an hour and tempered at 120oC for 24 hours. The samples were characterized to investigate mechanical properties using Scanning Electron Microscope, X-Ray Spectrometer, Optical Metallurgical Microscope, Vickers Hardness, Universal Testing Machine and Abrasive Wear Testing Machine. A MLP (Multilayer Perceptron) feedforward was developed and used for modeling purpose. Training, testing and validation of the model were carried out using back propagation learning algorithm. The modeling results show that an architecture of 14 inputs with 9 hidden neurons and 4 outputs which includes the tensile strength, elongation, hardness and abrasive wear resistance gives reasonably accurate results with an error within the range of 2-7 % in training, testing and validation., Comment: 14 pages, Mehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, Vol. 30, No.1, January 2011

Manufacturing of aluminum alloy based casting composite materials via stir casting is one of the prominent and economical route for development and processing of metal matrix composites materials. Properties of these materials depend upon many processing parameters and selection of matrix and reinforcements. Literature reveals that most of the researchers are using 2, 6 and 7xxx aluminum matrix reinforced with SiC particles for high strength properties whereas, insufficient information is available on reinforcement of "Al2O3" particles in 7xxx aluminum matrix. The 7xxx series aluminum matrix usually contains Cu-Zn-Mg. Therefore, the present research was conducted to investigate the effect of elemental metal such as Cu-Zn-Mg in aluminum matrix on mechanical properties of stir casting of aluminum composite materials reinforced with alpha "Al2O3" particles using simple foundry melting alloying and casting route. The age hardening treatments were also applied to study the aging response of the aluminum matrix on strength, ductility and hardness. The blasphemy laws are the parts of Pakistan Penal Code which were set up by the British regime in 1860. These laws were aimed to safeguard the religious feelings of the followers of various beliefs. The laws encompassed all the religions who lived in the subcontinent. It is also said that the sections 295-B and 295-C which were introduced in 1980s are meant to shield only one religion and that is Islam. This research has critically examined the blasphemy laws of Pakistan and their impacts on the status of non-Muslims living in the country. The study has highlighted views of the adherents and the opponents of these laws. It gives a fact sheet of what has happened so far in the country in terms of the outcomes of these laws. The research includes a recent survey on issue related to blasphemy and it ends up with few recommendations.

Objective: To compare incubator and thermal blanket for thermoregulation in preterm and low birth weight neonates. Method: The pilot study was conducted from January to March 2018 at the emergency department of the National Institute of Child Health, Karachi, and comprised preterm and low birth weight neonates without any co-morbidity who were randomised to control and interventional groups. Data was collected using a proforma about demographics, weight, gestational age and brief clinical history. Temperature, blood pressure and pulse were monitored along with other routine care after every 15 minutes in the incubator, and the same procedure was adopted for thermal blankets. Data was analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 23. Results: Of the 38 subjects, 19(50%) each were cases and controls. The mean gestational age between the groups was not significantly different (p>0.05). Temperature for the first 60 minutes remained similar in the two groups, but at 75 minutes and onwards, the incubator showed a significantly better results (p

This paper characterises and evaluates Si3N4/Ti composites during thermal treatment using an in situ neutron diffraction technique. The composites were developed using a conventional press and sinter technique. Pure titanium (Ti) was chosen as the matrix, and different concentrations of Si3N4 were used as the reinforcement. The effects of sintering temperature and the concentration of Si3N4 in the Ti matrix were investigated with respect to phase constituents. The Si3N4 mass fraction in the Ti matrix was found to be the key parameter for the reaction. Because of its instability in Ti at higher temperatures, in situ reactions between the reinforcing particles and matrix led to the formation of intermetallic compounds, such as Ti5Si3 and possibly Ti3Si, in the composites containing higher weight fractions of Si3N4.

This study investigated the effect of animal age, calcium chloride marination, and storage time on meat quality characteristics of buffalo bulls to suggest a cost-effective method of improving buffalo meat quality. The current study was designed considering the importance of buffalo meat and the usage of meat from spent buffalo animals in local markets of South Asian countries. A total of 36 animals comprised of 18 young and 18 spent buffalo bulls were selected. After slaughtering and 24 h of postmortem chilling, striploins were separated and cut into 16 steaks and equally divided into two groups, i.e., either marinated with calcium chloride or not. Meat quality characteristics were recorded on 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 days of storage. The results showed that the pH value of young animals was higher than the value of spent animals and pH was increased over the storage time. Color b*, C*, and h* values were higher in spent animals as compared with the young animals; however, values of colors L* and h* were higher and a* was lower in marinated samples than the values of non-marinated samples. Color a* and C* values were increased and h* was decreased with lengthening the storage time. The meat cooking loss was higher in marinated and the water-holding capacity was higher in non-marinated meat samples. Shear force values were lower in young animals and marinated samples than the values of spent animals and non-marinated meat samples, respectively. Sensory characteristic scores of marinated samples were better than the non-marinated samples. In conclusion, calcium chloride marination can be used to improve the quality characteristics of buffalo meat.

This study focuses on the impact of Religious Education in Pakistan at individual and collective levels. The research discusses the educational basis for the study of religion and analyzes the contribution of religious education towards the intellectual growth of individuals. The study raises few questions regarding religious education in Pakistan such as; why has our education system been divided into religious and secular education system. Whether the existing religious education is able to create a linkage between religion and society or not, if not what are the areas which need to be focused. What are the possibilities of sidelining the religious education and what could be its effects. The research focuses on the aims and objectives or religious education in Pakistan by analyzing the nature of curriculums of religious education at various levels. This study highlights the deficiency of the inclusion of the teachings of other religions in our religious education. The research consists of a current survey of the said topic, some findings and conclusions on the issue and few recommendations as well.

Background – Gilgit-Baltistan, the Northeast region of Pakistan, is well known for its floristic diversity, including members of the genus Artemisia. Artemisia is a large, taxonomically complex genus including ~500 species of both herbs and shrubs. This study was conducted to determine the phylogenetic position of ten undescribed Artemisia taxa from northern Pakistan, using nrDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS), external transcribed spacer (ETS) and cpDNA intergenic spacer (psbA-trnH) regions.Methods – The phylogenetic relationships of 28 taxa of Artemisia using separate and combined data sets of sequences of three markers (ITS, ETS and psbA-trnH) were analysed with maximum parsimony, maximum likelihood, and Bayesian approaches. Key results – The results resolve northeastern Pakistani Artemisia, which represent five morphologically defined subgenera, into ten major clades. Subgenera Artemisia and Absinthium are shown to be polyphyletic, while Dracunculus, Pacifica and Tridentatae appear monophyletic. All species of subgenus Seriphidium are retrieved in a single clade that also includes annual species from subgenus Artemisia. In the Flora of Pakistan, Seriphidium is described as a separate genus but in this study, Seriphidium fell within the genus Artemisia. In addition, on the basis of phylogenetic analysis, we present evidence that ten as-yet undescribed taxa are present in northeastern Pakistan based on newly recognized three groups (Groups I, II and III) of taxa within the genus Artemisia. One undescribed taxon from group I was placed within the subgenus Dracunculus clade and the remaining nine taxa from groups II and III were placed in the subgenus Absinthium clade. Morphological studies coupled with modern molecular techniques may lead to a new infrageneric classification of the genus Artemisia. It will also clarify and characterize the undescribed taxa reported in this study.

From last epoch till to date, AISI 4340 and AISI 4140 have been widely used in different engineering applications. These applications include bolt, screws, gears, drive shafts, crane shaft and piston rods for engines due to its upright mechanical properties, cost-effective and easily available in market. In present work, deep cryogenic treatment effect on the mechanical properties of AISI 4340 and AISI 4140 have been studied. Present work was carried out at laboratory scale and can be extended for mass production. Our work is simple, straight forward safe and economical. In our work, samples were heat treated in simple muffle furnace and followed by cryogenic treatment in liquid nitrogen. Before cryogenic treatment, all samples were normalized at 860°C to obtain homogenized microstructure. Samples were also compared conventionally heat treatment with quenched in oil quenchant. Experimental results showed that after cryogenic treatment with tempering treatment, one could easily increase the tensile strength, impact toughness and hardness. Advanced optical microscopy (IMM 901) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), FIT Quanta 200 methods have also been deployed to reveal and interpret the internal structure of samples. It was found from microstructure that cryogenic treated sample increases the impact strength, hardness and tensile strength as compared conventional heat treated quenching approaches.

In any society, the administration has a status of a pillar, and its good, bad move, directly impacts on society. There are institutions to compensate public complaints on government initiatives in many countries of the world that account for government workers. This institution in Pakistan is established as "Federal Ombudsman". Main responsibilities of this institute include the execution of Amr bil Mar’ūf and Nahi ‘An al Munkar, monitoring government employees, monitoring administrative matters, to hear the complaints of public against organizations and preventing them from violating individual rights. In this article, it has been reviewed that what type of guidance of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is in this matter, in order to evaluate the present system of "Federal Ombudsman" and bring it according to the guidance of Prophet Hood by removing the defects in it. Following the observation of the main responsibilities of the "Federal Ombudsman" in the paper, the guidance received from examples present in the Seerah was described, and recommendations have been made for further improvement after describing the results obtained from them.

Abstract Milk and dairy products are integral part of human nutrition and they are considered as the carriers of higher biological value proteins, calcium, essential fatty acids, amino acids, fat, water soluble vitamins and several bioactive compounds that are highly significant for several biochemical and physiological functions. In recent years, foods containing natural antioxidants are becoming popular all over the world as antioxidants can neutralize and scavenge the free radicals and their harmful effects, which are continuously produced in the biological body. Uncontrolled free radicals activity can lead to oxidative stresses, which have been implicated in breakdown of vital biochemical compounds such as lipids, protein, DNA which may lead to diabetes, accelerated ageing, carcinogenesis and cardiovascular diseases. Antioxidant capacity of milk and milk products is mainly due to sulfur containing amino acids, such as cysteine, phosphate, vitamins A, E, carotenoids, zinc, selenium, enzyme systems, superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, milk oligosaccharides and peptides that are produced during fermentation and cheese ripening. Antioxidant activity of milk and dairy products can be enhanced by phytochemicals supplementation while fermented dairy products have been reported contained higher antioxidant capacity as compared to the non-fermented dairy products. Literature review has shown that milk and dairy products have antioxidant capacity, however, information regarding the antioxidant capacity of milk and dairy products has not been previously compiled. This review briefly describes the nutritional and antioxidant capacity of milk and dairy products.

The COVID-19 pandemic impacted meat production, supply chain, and meat prices that caused a severe socio-economic crisis worldwide. Initially, meat and meat products' prices increased due to less production and increased demand because of panic buying. Whereas, later on, both meat production and demand were significantly decreased due to lockdown restrictions and lower purchasing power of the consumers that results in a decrease in meat prices. In early April 2020, meat packing facilities started to shut down due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus among workers. Furthermore, meat producers and processors faced difficulty in harvesting and shipment of the products due to lockdown situations, decrease in labor force, restrictions in movement of animals within and across the country and change in legislation of local and international export market. These conditions adversely impacted the meat industry due to decrease in meat production, processing and distribution facilities. It is suggested that the integration among all the meat industry stakeholders is quite essential for the sustainability of the industry's supply chain to cope with such devastating conditions the future may hold. This review aimed to discuss different aspects of the meat industry and supply chain during the COVID-19 pandemic and proposed some future directions.
