Background: The aim of the study to investigate the accessibility and frequency of use of magnification systems in endodontics and to evaluate the economic and logistical factors. Methods: A survey comprising of 34 questions, created in Survey Monkey, was sent to 874 clinicians. The survey consisted of three main sections: demographic information, the use of magnification systems, and financial factors. Descriptive analysis and chi-square tests were performed. Results: Of the participants, 42.3% were endodontists, and 57.7% were postgraduate students in endodontics. Nearly 26.1%, 32.7%, and 41.1% reported using a dental operating microscope (DOM), a loupe, and no magnification system, respectively. When asked how long it would take to recoup the cost of the DOM, considering additional charges or patient preferences, the most common response (40%) was 1–2 years. Conclusion: Although the use of magnification systems has become quite widespread today, it is important to increase their use further. Purpose: This study aims to investigate the impact of repeated use within curved root canals on the surface characteristics of both reciprocating and rotary instruments, using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) for detailed analysis. Methods: Curved acrylic blocks were randomly divided into two groups and were prepared using WaveOne Gold (WOG) and One Curve (OC) files. Both WOG and OC groups were further divided into subgroups: control, 1st use, 2nd use, 3rd use, and separated files. Following each use, the instruments underwent ultrasonic cleaning and sterilization procedures. These procedures continued until fracture occurred and changes in the surface characteristics of files were examined under FESEM. Descriptive data were reported for each group. Results: With increasing use within each group, the instruments exhibited a rise in the frequency of surface damage, including cracks, flattening, deterioration of cutting edges, microcavities, and debris accumulation. A fracture occurred in the OC file after the 8th use, while the WOG file fractured after the 6th use. Conclusion: Repeated use increased defects and deformations in both files. Based on the surface characteristics of both files, single-use applications of WOG and OC files are considered safer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this case report is to demonstrate direct access to obliterated root canals and root canal treatment with the aid of guided endodontics (GE) created with a three-dimensional (3D) printer using 3D imaging techniques. A female patient presented to our clinic with the complaint of percussion sensitivity in the left upper second premolar. According to the clinical and radiographic examination of the tooth, root canal obliteration was detected, extending 2 mm below the cementoenamel junction of the tooth. The root canals were localized using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). The endodontic guide was prepared by transferring the images obtained with the intraoral scanner and the CBCT data to a 3D printer with a special computer program. Root canals were accessed with the help of this guide using endodontic bur. Root canal treatment of the patient was completed with routine endodontic procedures. After the treatment with the aid of GE, it was observed that the patient's symptoms disappeared and the tooth was in function. In the treatment of teeth with obliterated root canals, many complications can be prevented by providing a safe endodontic intervention with the aid of GE obtained with 3D printers.
