Okulda öğrenilen matematiği gerçek yaşama aktarabilme, matematiksel bilgiyi yaşamda kullanabilme ihtiyacı, matematik okuryazarlığı deyimini ön plana çıkarmıştır. Bu ihtiyacın karşılanması okullarda matematik okuryazarı öğrenciler yetiştirmek ve öğretimi bu şekilde planlamakla mümkündür. Bu doğrultudan hareketle bu çalışmada, matematik öğretiminde matematik okuryazarlığını süreç içinde geliştirme amacıyla tasarlanan ve Çift Odaklı Öğretim adı verilen bir öğretim modelinin tanıtılması amaçlanmaktadır. Tasarım tabanlı bir araştırma projesinden elde edilen verilere dayanarak yapılandırılan bu modelde öğretim, matematiksel kavram ve genellemelere ulaşma ve bunları derinleştirme ve pekiştirme üzerine yoğunlaşmaktadır. Çalışmada, modelin içeriği, dayandığı öğrenme kuramları ve örnek bir ders planı üzerinde derse yansıması tüm yönleriyle açıklanmıştır. Modelin varlığına duyulan ihtiyaç, uygulanabilirliği ve başarı potansiyeli literatür ışığında tartışılmıştır.

Problem çözme sürecinde anahtar rol oynayan problem çözme stratejilerinin bir sınıflandırmaya tabi tutulmadığı görülmektedir. Bu araştırma ile literatürde en çok yer alan problem çözme stratejilerinin matematiksel süreç becerileri itibari ile sınıflandırılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın nitel boyutu Çanakkale İl Merkezindeki bir ortaokulun sekizinci sınıfında öğrenim görmekte olan 21 öğrenciden elde edilen verilerle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Literatürde en çok yer alan dokuz problem çözme stratejisine yönelik on sekiz sıradışı problemden oluşan “Problem Çözme Testi (PÇT)” kullanılarak toplanan veriler üç uzman tarafından içerik analizi yöntemiyle analiz edilerek problem çözme stratejilerinin matematiksel süreç becerilerine göre sınıflandırılması yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda, “Bağıntı Bulma”, “Değişken Kullanma” ve “Diyagram Çizme” stratejilerinin hem formüle etme hem de yürütme süreçlerini; “Sistematik Liste Yapma” ve “Tablo Yapma” stratejilerinin sadece yürütme sürecini; “Geriye Doğru Çalışma”, “Tahmin ve Kontrol” ve “Muhakeme Etme” stratejilerinin hem yürütme hem de yorumlama ve değerlendirme süreçlerini; “Basitleştirme” stratejisinin ise formüle etme, yürütme, yorumlama ve değerlendirme süreçlerini içerdiği tespit edilmiştir. Gerçekleştirilen sınıflandırma ile problem çözme strateji öğretimlerinin daha nitelikli olarak planlanmasına fırsat sağlanabilir ve süreç becerileri doğrultusunda sınıflandırılan stratejilerden yararlanılarak etkili matematik okuryazarlığı eğitimleri gerçekleştirilebilir., It is revealed that problem-solving strategies which play a key role in terms of problem-solving process are not subjected to a classification. Through this research study, it is aimed to classify problem solving strategies that are included mostly in the literature based on mathematical process skills. The qualitative dimension of the study was carried out with the data obtained from 21 students studying in the eighth grade of a secondary school in Çanakkale City Center. The data collected by using the "Problem Solving Test (PST)" consisting of eighteen extraordinary problems for the nine most problem-solving strategies in the literature were analyzed by the content analysis method by three field experts and the problem-solving strategies were classified according to mathematical process skills. As a result of the study, it was found that the strategies called “Look for a Pattern”, “Draw a diagram” and “Use a Variable” involve both formulation and execution processes; the strategies of “Make a Systematic List” and “Make a Table” involve only the execution process; the strategies of “Working Backwards”, “Guess and Check” and “Logical Reasoning” involve both execution and interpretation, evaluation processes and the strategy of “Simplify the Problem” involves the processes of formulation, execution and interpretation, evaluation.

Bu çalışmada, 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin Zihnin Cebirsel Alışkanlıklarını (ZCA’larını) geliştirmek için tasarlanan öğrenme ortamında, öğrencilerin ZCA’larının ne düzeyde geliştiğinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında öncelikle uygulama öncesi öğrencilerde var olan zihnin cebirsel alışkanlıkları (ZCA) belirlenmiştir. Bu alışkanlıkları geliştirmek için hazırlanan ders planları, tasarlanan öğrenme ortamında uygulanmıştır. Ardından öğrencilerin ZCA’larında meydana gelen gelişmeler nicel ve nitel olarak incelenerek rapor edilmiştir. Araştırma, ön test-son test tek gruplu, tasarım araştırması modelinde deneysel bir çalışmadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak ZCA Testi 1, ZCA Testi 2 ve odak grup görüşme testi kullanılmıştır. ZCA Testi 1 ile öğrencilerde uygulama öncesi var olan alışkanlıklar belirlenmiş, ZCA Testi 2 ile uygulama sonrasında öğrencilerin alışkanlıklarında meydana gelen gelişmeler incelenmiştir. Odak grup görüşme soruları ile de öğrencilerin ZCA’larının ayrıntılı tematik analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. ZCA Testi 1 ve 2 sonuçlarını karşılaştırmak için wilcoxon işaretli sıralar testi uygulanmıştır. Nicel analiz sonucunda, öğrencilerin ZCA’larında gelişme olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır (p= 0,00, p < 0.05). Odak grup görüşmelerinin tematik analizinde de öğrencilerin ZCA’nın bileşenlerinden yapma-tersini yapma ve fonksiyonel kural oluşturma alışkanlıklarının, uygulama öncesi alışkanlıklarına göre iyi düzeyde, işlemlerden soyutlama alışkanlıklarının ise düşük düzeyde geliştiği gözlemlenmiştir. Hazırlanan ders planı ve öğrenme ortamının, ZCA’ların geliştirilmesinde etkili olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır., According to MEB (2013), students first meet algebra in the 6th grade of middle school. This study aims to develop students' algebraic habits in the designed learning environment. To this aim, the algebraic habits of the mind that existed in the students before the application were determined. The course plans prepared to develop these habits were applied in the designed learning environment. Afterwards, the developments in students' ZCAs were analyzed by quantitative and qualitative analyses. The current study adopts an experimental design, with a pre-test-post-test single-group. ZCA Test 1, ZCA Test 2 and focus group interview test were used as data collection tools. With ZCA Test 1, the pre-practise habits of the students were determined, and the developments in the habits of the students after ZCA Test 2 were examined. A detailed thematic analysis of students' ZCAs was carried out with focus group interview questions. As a result of the analysis, Wilcoxon signed sequences test was performed between ZCA Test 1 and 2. Background and objectives This study compared the clinical and radiological results of three cortex conventional metal screw fixation and EndoButton implant techniques. We applied dynamic pedobarographic analysis to the cases to reveal the effect of the postoperative functional levels on the gait and plantar pressure distribution parameters and to determine the differences between the groups. Materials and methods In our retrospective study, 42 patients were evaluated in two groups, divided into metal screw (Group I; n=24) and button-stitch implant technique (Group II; n=18). After the groups were formed, the functional and clinical outcomes of the patients were evaluated and measured prospectively by an investigator blinded to the surgical procedures of the patients clinically and radiologically. Results We found the AOFAS score significantly higher in the EndoButton group (p=0.041), while the Weber and Freiburg scores were similar between the two groups (p=0.07 and p=0.49, respectively). When the plantar pressure distribution analyzes of the operated sides were examined, the loading percentages in the forefoot and midfoot were found to be statistically significantly higher in the metallic screw group providing static fixation, while the percentage of lateral heel loading was found to be statistically significantly lower. The medial heel loading percentage was also lower in the screw group, but no statistically significant difference was detected. Conclusions We observed that the conventional screw static fixation technique used to repair syndesmosis injuries causes limitation in ankle dorsiflexion, increases the pressure percentages in the forefoot and midfoot, and causes a later return to work/daily life.

Security measures and contingency plans have been established in order to ensure human safety especially in the floating elements like ferry, roro, catamaran, frigate, yacht that are the vehicles services for the purpose of logistic and passenger transport. In this paper, all processes in the event of Man overboard (MOB)are initiated for smart transportation. In MOB the falling person is totally dependent on the person who first saw the falling person. The main objective of this paper is to develop a solution to this significant problem. If a staff member or a passenger does not see the fall into the sea, undesirable situations such as disappearance, injury and death can occur during the period until the absence of the fallen person is noticed. In this paper, a comprehensive and improved solution is provided in terms of personnel and passenger security especially in all the floating elements, in which human resources are intensively involved like passengers, freight, logistics, fishing, business, yacht, leisure and naval vessels. In this case, if the ship’s personnel or passengers fall into the sea in any way, it detected the fallen person into the sea by the sensors in the portable emergency device, which each person will carry. The warning system is activated via the in-ship automation system to which the information is transmitted by wireless communication. Thus, the case of MOB will be determined quickly. Internet of things (IoT) has a key role in identifying the location and information of the person falling into the sea through sensors, radio frequency, GPS and connected devices. Simultaneously, the alarm system on board will be activated and MOB flag (Oscar) will automatically be opened. This paper enables the Search and rescue (SAR) operations to be initiated and accelerated without losing time through decision-making process.

Bu arastirmada Akdeniz Universitesi Egitim Fakultesi Sinif Ogretmenligi Bolumu’nden 2012-2017 yillari arasinda mezun 578 ogrencinin cinsiyet, medeni durum, kayit yasi ve 1. sinif 1. donem ara sinav puanlari verisi kullanilarak mezuniyet notlarini tahmin etmek icin modeller olusturulmustur. Anonimlestirilmis ogrenci verisi uzerinde coklu dogrusal regresyon analizi ve yapay sinir aglari ile olusturulan modellerin capraz degerlendirme sonuclarinda ogrenci basarisini kestirmede birbirine yakin sonuclar verdigi gorulmustur. Ortalama mutlak hata yuzdesi degerleri baz alinarak yapilan degerlendirmede regresyon analizi modeli %94.30 basari saglarken yapay sinir aglari modeli %94.43 basari saglamistir. Modeller ogrenci basarisina etki eden faktorlerin agirliklarini belirlemek icin bulgular saglamistir. Arastirma kapsaminda gelistirilen modellerin etkili oldugu egitimde toplam kalite yonetimi baglaminda sifir hata hedefinde proaktif pozisyon alarak ogrenci basarisini artirma gibi calismalarinda kullanilabilecegi soylenebilir.

Bireyin gelişen ve yeni beceriler gerektiren dünyaya uyum sağlaması için okullarda çok sayıda eleştirel düşünme deneyimi yaşatılıp, yaşamsal durumlar üzerinde uygulamalar yapılması, ilgili literatürde vurgulanmaktadır. Öğrencilerin bilgilerini bir uygulama alanından diğerine etkili bir şekilde aktarabilmeleri için, pek çok farklı durum ve bağlam içeren problemleri çözme deneyimi yaşamaları gerekir. Bu çalışma kapsamında ortaokul öğrencileri ile MO problemleri çözüldüğü bir araştırma sürecinde, öğrencilerin MO problemleri hakkındaki düşünceleri ve değerlendirmelerini belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma grubu 27 beşinci sınıf, 28 altıncı sınıf, 25 yedinci sınıf ve 25 sekizinci sınıf olmak üzere 105 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Yapılan toplam 98 saatlik MO problemi çözme uygulamasında süreç içinde öğrencilerin haftalık olarak doldurdukları günlüklerden elde edilen veriler incelenerek ortaokul öğrencilerinin MO problemleri hakkındaki görüşleri belirlenmiştir. Bu kapsamda öğrenci görüşleri (i) MO problemlerinin çözümü hakkındaki değerlendirmeler (ii) MO problemlerinin karakteristiğine ilişkin değerlendirmeler (iii) diğer değerlendirmeler şeklinde kategorilere ayrılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçların matematik okuryazarlığı literatürü ile yüksek oranda tutarlı olduğu belirlenmiştir.

Thiamethoxam (TMX), a second-generation neonicotinoid, is extensively used to control numerous pests that infest crops. We investigated the effects of TMX (10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 μg/mL for 24, 48, 72, and 96 h) on biomarkers such as antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT)); malondialdehyde (MDA), protein, lipid, and carbohydrate levels; micronucleus formation; and total hemocyte count in a model organism, Galleria mellonella L. SOD and CAT activities significantly decreased after 72 and 96 h of treatment at all TMX concentrations compared with control. MDA level increased following treatment with all TMX doses, with the exception of that following treatment with the lowest dose (10 μg/mL) at all tested treatment durations. Lipid and carbohydrate levels significantly decreased following treatment with high doses of TMX (40 and 50 μg/mL) after 48, 72, and 96 h. Micronucleated cell number significantly increased following treatment with all TMX doses at all tested treatment durations, except with 10 μg/mL of TMX for 24 h, when compared with control. During the first 72 h, total hemocyte count significantly decreased following treatment with 20-, 30-, 40-, and 50-μg/mL TMX; however, it was significantly reduced at all doses of TMX after 96 h. These results suggest that TMX can induce immunotoxicity, oxidative stress, and genotoxicity in a potential target and also in the model organism, G. mellonella. In addition, our study provides additional information regarding the prospective toxic effects of TMX.

Türkiye’de hacimsel ısıtma, binalarda enerji tüketiminin ana kalemidir. Özellikle erken tasarım süreçlerinde yapılacak etkin kabuk yalıtımı, binanın yıllık ısıtma enerjisi ihtiyacını ciddi oranda azaltan en yaygın pasif çözümdür. Bu çalışma, tüm Türkiye için binalarda erken tasarım aşamasında yapılacak ek kabuk yalıtımı yatırımlarının etkinliğini değerlendirmeyi amaçlar. Çalışma, TS 825 “ Binalarda ısı yalıtım kuralları” standardının yürürlükteki (2008) ve taslak halindeki (2013) versiyonlarını esas alır. Çalışmada, yalıtımsız bir binanın TS 825’e göre yalıtılmasının etkinliği kısa dönem (yıllık ısıtma enerji ihtiyacında sağlanan tasarruf, ek yalıtım maliyeti ve ek sera gazı salımı) ve yaşam döngüsü (yaşam döngüsü maliyeti ve sera gazı salımı) olmak üzere iki farklı süreçte incelenmiştir. Ayrıca yapılan ek yatırımın, maliyet ve sera gazı açısından geri ödeme süreleri de analiz edilmiştir. Analizler, standarda göre yapılan yalıtımların yıllık ısıtma enerjisi ihtiyacında %75’lere, yaşam döngüsü maliyetinde %70’lere, yaşam döngüsü sera gazı salımında ise %73’lere varan iyileştirmeler sağladığını göstermiştir. Maliyet geri ödeme süreleri 7 yılın, sera gazı geri ödeme süreleri ise 2 yılın altında hesaplanmıştır.

The truss sizing optimization problem, where the cross-sectional areas of truss members are optimized, is a nonlinear and complex problem. The problem becomes quite challenging especially when a large number of variables exist. Metaheuristics proved to be working efficiently for this problem type. Flower pollination algorithm (FPA) is a recently developed metaheuristic search algorithm, and it has been successfully applied to structural optimization problems in the literature. In this paper, the formulation of FPA is enhanced to improve its local and global searching capabilities for better performance. For this purpose, a hybrid algorithm is developed by imitating the algorithmic structure of FPA while the mutation and crossover operators of differential evolution (DE) with elitism strategy are replaced with Levy flights of FPA to explore search space more efficiently and exploitation ability of FPA is improved with the addition of mutation factor and crossover operator of DE working in the local search formula of FPA. The performance of the proposed algorithm is tested with benchmark truss sizing optimization problems and the results are compared with other metaheuristics. The results show that hybrid FPA improves the capabilities of the original one, produces more robust solutions than both FPA and DE, generates quite competitive results for the test problems compared to the previous studies with different algorithms. Therefore, the hybrid FPA proves to be a promising optimization algorithm alternative for engineering practice.

Retaining walls need to be designed optimally since huge cost savings are probable considering their dimensions and materials used in the design and construction. Even better savings are possible when they are constructed in earthquake-prone regions. In this study, an improved flower pollination algorithm (IFPA) is used to optimize the design of the reinforced concrete cantilever retaining wall subjected to dynamic loadings. The mathematical model contains three constraints including geotechnical, structural, and geometrical considerations. As the previous FPA applications revealed the efficiency of this method for retaining wall problems, some modifications have been made on the existing method when dynamic loadings are included. To reveal the performance of IFPA, sensitivity analyses are carried out using a variety of soil parameters. Also, tuning of IFPA parameters is illustrated with two different retaining wall case studies reported in the literature. The results indicate that IFPA is a viable alternative to the well-known metaheuristics. This study also reveals that there is space for further improvements to cover wider range of geotechnical engineering-related optimization problems.

Having a wide range of applications in civil engineering practice, Mechanically Stabilized Earth Walls (MSEWs) are regarded as efficient and reliable alternatives to the conventional retaining structure types. As is often the case in engineering, the performance and cost-effectiveness of these structures rely on robust design strategies, which must be proficient to yield optimal solutions in multimodal spaces. While the inherent characteristics of engineering problems often render the design a challenging task, metaheuristic algorithms are suitable options provided that problem-specific considerations and modifications are implemented. In this regard, Cuckoo Search (CS) and its variants are successful in many engineering applications. In the present study, CS is adopted to optimize the reinforcement type, length, and layout of MSEWs and a hybrid CS (HCSDE) variant based on Differential Evolution formulation is developed to further enhance the search capability of the algorithm. The proposed algorithm is applied to various MSEW design benchmarks and comparatively evaluated with respect to well-established methods such as Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization. The results of the study indicate that CS is competent for the problem and the capability of the algorithm can be further enhanced through the proposed adaptations in HCSDE. The improved solutions of HCSDE compared to the other optimization methods highlight the proposed formulation as a promising algorithm for practical implementations.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, ortaokul altıncı sınıf öğrencilerine verilenmatematik okuryazar-lığı eğitiminin öğrencilerin matematik okuryazarlığıbaşarısına etkisini ortaya koymak ve mate-matiğe yönelik tutumlarındaki vemotivasyonlarındaki değişimleri incelemektir. Çalışma, Bursa’daki bir devletortaokulunun altıncı sınıfına giden 56 öğrenci üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir.Bu çalışmada nitel ve nicel araştırmanın bir arada kullanıldığı karma yöntemkullanılmıştır. Araştırmada deney grubuna 12 hafta boyunca matematikokuryazarlığı eğitimi verilmiş, kontrol grubunda ise matematik öğretimprogramında yer alan ilkelere bağlı kalınarak öğretime devam edilmiştir.Öğrencilere Matematik Okuryazarlığı Testi ön test- son test ve kalıcılık testiolarak uygulanmıştır. Daha sonra yapılan uygulamanın öğrencilerin derse karşımotivasyonlarında etkisinin olup olmadığını araştırmak için deney ve kontrolgruplarına matematik motivasyon ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Son olarak eğitim sonundaöğrencilerden eğitim süreci ile ilgili duygu ve düşüncelerini anlatabilmeleriiçin birer mektup yazmaları istenmiş ve bu mektuplar içerik analizine tabitutulmuşlardır. Elde edilen bulgularsonucunda matematik okuryazarlığı eğitiminin, altıncı sınıf öğrencilerininmatematik okuryazarlığı başarılarını anlamlı derecede arttırdığı görülmüştür.Ayrıca, uygulama sonucunda altıncı sınıf öğrencilerinin matematiğe yöneliktutumlarının olumlu yönde değişim gösterdiği ve motivasyonlarının arttığıtespit edilmiştir. Öğrencilerden alınan mektup içerikleri duyuşsal ve öğrenmeyeyönelik motivasyonla ilgili olumlu gelişmeler olduğunu göstermiştir., The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of mathematicsliteracy education on secondary school sixth graders on the success ofmathematics literacy and to examine the changes in attitudes and motivationstowards mathematics. The study was on the 56 sixth grade students who goes tothe of a state secondary school in Bursa. In this study, a mixed method is usedwhich is a combination of qualitative and quantitative research. In this research,mathematical literacy training was given to the experimental group for 12weeks, while the control group continued teaching according to the principlesin the mathematics teaching program. Mathematics Literacy Test was applied tothe students as pre-test and post-test. The mathematical motivation scale wasapplied to the experimental and control groups in order to investigate whetherthe application was effective on the motivation of the students. Finally, atthe end of the training, the students were asked to write a letter to explaintheir feelings and thoughts about the educational process and these letterswere subjected to content analysis. As a result of the findings, it has been observed that mathematicsliteracy training significantly increased the mathematical literacyachievements of sixth grade students. Moreover, as a result of the application,it has been detected that the attitudes of the sixth grade students towardsmathematics change positively and increased motivation. The letter content fromthe students showed that they are positive developments in motivation towardsemotional and learning.

Bu araştırmanın amacı etkili geometri dersi özelliklerineuygun olarak hazırlanmış öğretim etkinliklerini gerçekleştirmeleri esnasında farklıinançlara sahip iki öğretmenin davranışlarını incelemektir. Çalışma 7. sınıföğrencilerine eğitim vermekte olan iki matematik öğretmeni ile gerçekleştirilmiştir.Öğretmenler hazırlanan planlara uygun olarak üç ders saati öğretim gerçekleştirmişlerdir.Birinci derste çokgen kavramının ne olduğu ve tanımı, ikinci derste içbükey,dışbükey çokgenler ve üçüncü derste ise düzgün çokgen kavramları üzerindedurulmuştur. Dersler video kaydı altına alınmış ve veriler betimsel analiz yöntemiyleanaliz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda matematiğe ilişkin farklı inançlarasahip olan bu iki öğretmenin planları aynı etkililikte uygulayamadığı ve aynıdüzeyde bir geometri öğretimi gerçekleştiremedikleri tespit edilmiştir. Etkilibir matematik öğretimi için öğretmenin epistemolojik inancının ve birikimininne kadar önemli olduğu görülmüştür., The aim of this study was to investigate the behaviours oftwo teachers having diffirent beliefs during that they used plans preparedsuitably to the characteristics of effective geometry lesson. The study wascarried out with two mathematics teacher who trained 7th grades. These twoteachers educated three hours suitably the prepared plans. It was dwelled onpolygon concept and its definition at the first lesson, concave and convexpolygons at the second one and regular polygons at the third lesson. Lessonswere videotaped and the data were analyzed by descriptive method. As a resultof this study, it was established that this two teachers who had differentbeliefs regarding mathematics couldn’t use the plans and teach geometry at thesame effectiveness. It was seen that the epistemological beliefs and backgroundof teacher was important.

Matematik öğretiminde niteliğin nasıl artırılacağı hala tartışılmaktadır. Öğretim sürecinde öğrenciler, öğrenecekleri konuların içeriğini keyifli ve dikkat çekici buldukları ölçüde öğrenme ortamına etkin olarak katılım isteği gösterirler. Bu çalışmanın amacı, matematik öğretiminde niteliği artırmaya yönelik öğrenme kuram ve modellerinin etkileyici yönlerini temele alan taşıyıcı sorunun matematik öğretiminin amaçlarının gerçekleştirilmesine katkısının incelenmesidir. Bu amaca ulaşabilmek için kullanılacak metotların belirlenmesinde ve bulguların yorumlanmasında yol gösterecek özel durum çalışması, araştırmanın deseni olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu durum çalışması bir lisenin 9. sınıfında öğrenim gören 24 öğrenci ile yapılmıştır. Araştırmada nitel veri toplama araçları kullanılmıştır. Öğretimde etkinlikler hazırlanmış ve etkinlik uygulamaları videoya kaydedilmiş ve analizleri yapılmıştır. Taşıyıcı soru, diğer öğretim tasarımlarından farklı olarak, öğretim akışının doğal olması ve öğretimin beceri ile bütünleştirilmesine yer vermesi olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu çalışmada taşıyıcı sorunun matematik öğretim amaçlarını destekleği ve matematik öğretiminde niteliği arttırdığı belirlenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonuçlarının öğretim uygulamalarına olumlu yönde katkı yapacağı beklenmektedir.

The issue of how to increase the achievement level of mathematics literacy has become the focus of studies on mathematics education. Even though there have currently been many studies, no detailed study has been found related to their methods, content, and which component of mathematics literacy. The aim of this study is to carry out thematic analysis of the articles focusing on mathematics literacy in the education process and reveal the extent to which the researched subjects meet the needs in terms of quality and quantity, and what kind of research is needed. However, the fact that there are many studies (181) on mathematics literacy has led to the need to classify the articles before the thematic analysis. Based on the Principles of School Mathematics (equality, curriculum, teaching, learning, evaluation, and technology), 74 articles were selected for analysis after a preliminary classification of the articles followed by at least one of the principles. In this study, the general characteristics (types of journals and year of publication), rationale, purpose, research methods, sample, results and suggestions of the examined articles were analyzed and presented. Two main categories were identified in the studies examined in this study: (i) Describing a situation by summarizing the information and making it more distinguishable, (ii) Identifying the problem and proposing a model for the solution of this problem, and increasing the ML achievement level by testing and evaluating this model. Most of the studies examined were classified in the first category. It was observed that the studies in the second category were insufficient in number. In particular, the results of studies reporting difficulties in solving the ML problems can be a starting point for improving the teaching and repetition of such studies is considered as a need., Matematik okuryazarlığı başarı düzeyinin nasıl artırılabileceği hususu matematik eğitimi ile ilgili çalışmaların odağına yerleşmiştir. Mevcut durumda çok sayıda araştırma olmasına rağmen bunların yöntemlerini, içeriğini, matematik okuryazarlığının hangi bileşeni ile ilgili olduğu gibi hususlarda ayrıntılı bir çalışmaya rastlanamamıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı eğitim-öğretim sürecinde matematik okuryazarlığına odaklanan makalelerin tematik analizini yapmak suretiyle araştırılan hususların nitelik ve nicelik bakımından ihtiyacı ne ölçüde karşıladığını, ne tür araştırmalara ihtiyaç olduğunu ortaya koymaktır. Bununla birlikte matematik okuryazarlığını konu alan çok sayıda (181) çalışmanın olması, yapılacak tematik analizden önce makalelerin sınıflanması ihtiyacını doğurmuştur. Okul Matematiğinin İlkeleri (eşitlik, müfredat, öğretim, öğrenme, değerlendirme ve teknoloji) referans alınarak, makalelerin bir ön tasnifi yapıldıktan sonra ilkelerden en az birine uyan 74 makale analiz edilmek üzere belirlenmiştir. Bu çalışmada, incelenen makalelerin genel özellikleri (yayınlandıkları dergilerin türleri ve yayın yılı), gerekçeler, amaç, araştırma yöntemleri, örneklem, sonuçlar ve önerileri analiz edilip sunulmuştur. Bu çalışmada incelenen araştırmalarda iki temel kategori belirlenmiştir: (i) Bilgiyi özetlemek suretiyle bir durumu tasvir edip daha kolay algılanabilir hale getirmek, (ii) Problemi belirleyip bu problemin çözümü için model önermek, bu modeli denemek ve değerlendirmek suretiyle matematik okuryazarlığı başarı düzeyini yükseltmeyi sağlamaktır. İncelenen araştırmaların çoğu birinci kategoride sınıflanmaktadır. İkinci kategorideki araştırmaların ise sayıca yetersiz olduğu görülmüştür. Özellikle matematik okuryazarlığı problemlerinin çözümünde yaşanan zorlukları rapor eden araştırmaların sonuçları, öğretimi iyileştirmek için bir hareket noktası olabilir ve bu tür araştırmaların çoğaltılması ihtiyaç olarak görülmektedir.

4D modeling integrates 3D model with project time schedule to provide virtual simulation for identifying spatio-temporal problems earlier in construction projects. However, constructing a 4D model takes a significant amount of time and is prone to man-made errors due to its manual steps and repetitive nature. Therefore, in this study, a model based two-phase method is developed to facilitate linking 3D model with the schedule by automating the cumbersome steps. In the first phase, 4D Task IDs are created and assigned automatically to the model elements using a pattern that depends on their properties. In the second phase, using these IDs, the method generates a task ID list for scheduling and the search sets for simulation in order to map the model elements with the schedule tasks automatically, according to matching IDs. Hence, using shared IDs enhances the communication between 4D modeling tools. The efficiency of the method was tested with a well-known office building model constructed in Revit. The schedule was completed in Microsoft Project and 4D simulation is performed in Navisworks. The automated steps offered by the method were coded in Dynamo add-in of Revit. The analysis result showed that the developed method generated a 4D model in a shorter time compared to the manually performed one.

Stability analyses of slopes have been a challenge for engineers, requiring development of complex numerical models to assess the risk levels and potential hazards. The numerical models involve combination of analysis methods and integrated optimization approaches, which generally induce intense engineering calculations with upscale time complexity. To obtain good and quick solutions, a robust optimization algorithm is necessary, leading to an efficient and reliable stability analysis framework. Within this context, various optimization techniques involving deterministic and metaheuristic approaches were proposed in the past decades. The proposed methods often suffer from convergence issues have time deficiencies, which highlights a necessity of development of an effective optimization algorithm. In this study, a modified version of Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm named Elitist Differential Evolution (EDE) is proposed to solve slope stability analysis problems. To develop a complete analysis framework, EDE is integrated with a non-circular failure surface generation method and limit equilibrium based stability analysis techniques. Its performance is compared with other optimization algorithms such as conventional DE, Particle Swarm Optimization and Grey Wolf Optimizer using benchmark problems reported in the literature. The experiments demonstrate that EDE greatly improves the results of other alternatives, validating the applicability of the algorithm to slope stability analysis. Furthermore, statistical performance of EDE has become prominent in the experiments, which further emphasizes its robustness.

The objective of this research is to find out the problems encountered by principals, teachers and parents aboutpre-schools’ education processes. In the study, qualitative research method was used and it was designed in hermeneuticalphenomenological method. The research was performed in primary schools having nursery classesin Korkuteli district of Antalya in 2015-2016 educational years. Study group comprised of principles, 2 vice principals5 pre-school teachers working in 6 schools chosen according to maximum variation sampling method and3 parents having students in these schools. Descriptive analysis and content analysis were used together in dataanalysis. The data collected was coded by the researchers and the themes were derived accordingly. Consequently,the problems about pre-school education via this research were reported in seven themes as: regulations,physical and material opportunities, interclass process, curriculum and training materials, top managers relatedissues, communication, family and environment related problems. It can be asserted that there are problemsincluding purpose, structure, process and climate dimensions of this level of the educational organization. Basedon these conclusions, action plans probable for developing this level of education can be recommended.

Geometry is one of the branches of mathematics that we use in many areas of our daily life, perhaps without noticing. For this reason, individuals are geometric thinkers not only in geometry classes; but also in different areas of life. In that case, it is necessary for the individual to acquire geometric habits of mind. The purpose of this study was to introduce the effectiveness of a teaching environment designed for improving the geometric habits of mind of high school students. This research method was designed as a quasi-experimental design. The working group of the study was consisted of 62 students, 31 of which were experimental and 31 of which were control groups. While the experimental group was provided with a teaching environment for improving the geometric habits of mind, multiple choice questions were solved with the control group students. The research data were gathered by pre-test, post-test and permanence test problems developed by the researcher. In the result of the study, it was showed that the designed teaching environment is effective in improving the geometric habits of mind and the permanence of habits. That is, it was determined that there is a significant difference in improving of geometric habits of mind and the persistence of these habits in favor of the experimental group.

This study aimed to evaluate an instructional activity designed for providing preservice teachers with the mathematical literacy questions choosing and writing skills. The study was conducted with the mathematics group students of the pedagogical formation program. The data for creating the content of the instruction was obtained from the PISA applications and the related literature. The data for developing the instruction was obtained from the video recordings of the classes during the application process and the data for evaluating the instruction was obtained from the pretests and posttests, observations and interviews. The research findings showed that the preservice teachers were interested in the subject and actively participated in the instructional process. It was observed at the end of the applications that preservice teachers' levels of mathematical literacy awareness increased and their skills of question choosing and writing in the field improved. Furthermore, it was concluded that there were opportunities and challenges confronted by the preservice teachers in the process of question writing. It was accordingly decided that life experiences, topics of limitation or exemplifications through representations such as pictures and videos proved to be opportunities for the preservice teachers. It was recommended that the instruction within the scope of the study would be enhanced and included in the undergraduate programs. © 2018 Turkish Education Association. All rights reserved.

The improvement of mathematical literacy level remains one of the fundamental problems of primary education in Turkey. In that case there is need to know students’ difficulties at solving mathematical literacy problems. This study reveals the difficulties encountered by Turkish students when solving mathematical literacy problems through the factors formed based on the structural characteristics of the questions addressed. A total of 435 middle school students (8th grade) were asked mathematical literacy questions. The data obtained from student responses were subjected to factor analysis. A six-factor structure was obtained at the end of the analysis. The obtained factors were found to have adequate variance in explaining mathematical literacy. These factors were named as making algorithmic operations, mastering rich mathematical content, mathematical inference, developing mathematical proposals and interpreting a developed proposal, understanding the mathematical equivalence of real world situations, and understanding the counterpart of mathematical language in life. The students failed in the factors of mathematical inference, developing mathematical proposals and interpreting a developed proposal, and understanding the mathematical equivalence of real world situations. The results of this study can be guiding for analyzing mathematical literacy achievement, developing a mathematical literacy scale, developing mathematics curricula, and organizing its instruction.

ResumenJustificativas y objetivos: Este estudio investigó los efectos analgésicos y nociceptivos de la adición de dexmedetomidina a la bupivacaína en anestesia del neuro eje, usando los test de retirada de la cola (tail-flick [TF]) y de la placa caliente (hot-plate [HP]) y microscopía de luz para las alteraciones histopatológicas de nervios espinales y raíces nerviosas.Métodos: Cuarenta ratones anestesiados, Sprague-Dawley machos, fueron cateterizados intratecalmente. Los valores basales de los testes TF y HP fueron medidos antes y después del cateterismo. Treinta y seis ratones cateterizados con éxito fueron distribuidos en cuatro grupos. El Grupo B recibió 10μg de bupivacaína, el Grupo BD3 recibió 10μg de bupivacaína + 3μg de dexmedetomidina, el Grupo BD10 recibió 10μg de bupivacaína + 10μg de dexmedetomidina y el Grupo Control recibió 10μL de líquido cefalorraquídeo artificial. Los test TF y HP se hicieron entre cinco y 300 minutos a partir de la administración de los fármacos. Veinte y cuatro horas después de la administración, los ratones fueron sacrificados y se les retiraron las médulas espinales y las raíces nerviosas para investigación patológica.Resultados: Los valores basales de los test TF y HP no fueron estadísticamente diferentes entre los grupos (6,8 ± 0,15 s). Las latencias de TF y HP en el Grupo Control no tenían ninguna alteración significativa durante el estudio. Los resultados de los test TF y HP mostraron que la adición de 3 y 10μg de dexmedetomidina causó un aumento dosis dependiente en la duración y en la amplitud del efecto analgésico y nociceptivo de bupivacaína (TF: 37,52 ± 1,08%, 57,86 ± 1,16%, respectivamente; HP: 44,24 ± 1,15%, 68,43 ± 1,24%, respectivamente).Conclusiones: No hubo alteraciones histopatológicas aparentes en por lo menos 24 horas después de la administración intratecal de la dosis única de dexmedetomidina (3μg y 10μg). Dexmedetomidina añadido a la bupivacaína para raquianestesia mejora y prolonga la duración del bloqueo.

Background and Objectives: This study investigates analgesic and nociceptive effects of adding dexmedetomidine to bupivacaine neuraxial anesthesia through Tail-flick (TF) and Hot-plate (HP) tests and the pathohistological changes on spinal nerves and nerve roots through light microscopy. Methods: Forty anesthetized, male Sprague-Dawley rats were intrathecally catheterized. Basal values of TF and HP tests were measured before and after catheterization. Thirty-six successfully catheterized rats were assigned to four groups. Group B received 10 μg bupivacaine, Group BD3 received 10 μg bupivacaine + 3 μg dexmedetomidine, Group BD10 received 10 μg bupivacaine + 10 μg dexmedetomidine and Control group received 10 μL volume of artificial cerebrospinal fluid. TF and HP tests were performed between the 5th and 300th minutes of drug administration. Twenty-four hours after administration of drugs, rats were sacrificed and spinal cord and nerve roots were removed for pathological investigation. Results: Baseline values of the TF and HP tests were not statistically different among the groups (6.8 ± 0.15 s). TF and HP latencies in the Control group did not change significantly during the study. TF and HP test results showed that adding 3 and 10 μg dexmedetomidine caused a dose- dependent increase in duration and amplitude of analgesic and nociceptive effect of bupivacaine (TF: 37.52 ± 1.08%, 57.86 ± 1.16% respectively, HP: 44.24 ± 1.15%, 68.43 ± 1.24% respectively). Conclusions: There were no apparent pathohistological changes at least 24 hours after the intrathecal administration of a single dose of dexmedetomidine 3 μg and 10 μg. Dexmedetomidine added to bupivacaine for spinal block improves analgesia and prolongs block duration. Bu calismanin amaci Turkiye’deki ortaokul matematik ogretmenlerinin bir geometri dersine iliskin gorusleri ile ogretim uygulamalari arasindaki uyumsuzluklari ve bu uyumsuzluklarin nedenlerini ortaya koymaktir. Calismanin yontemi durum calismasidir. Sekiz ogretmen uzerinde yurutulmustur. Ogretmenlerin her biri 8’er ders saati olmak uzere, geometri konularinin anlatildigi toplam 64 ders saatinde gozlemlenmistir. Daha sonra ogretmenlerle 30-35 dakikalik yari yapilandirilmis gorusmeler gerceklestirilmistir. Toplanan veriler icerik analizine tabi tutulmustur. Ogretmenlerin, derslerinde geleneksel yaklasima daha yakin olmalarina karsin gorusmelerde yapilandirmaci bir ogretim yaklasimindan yana olduklari gorulmustur. Ogretmen davranislari ile ifadelerinin etkili matematik ogretimi bakimindan tutarliligi incelenmistir. Sonuc olarak, farkliligin gercek hayatla iliskilendirme ve problem cozme hususlarinda daha belirgin oldugu gorulmustur. Bu uyumsuzluklarin giderilmesinde, egitim ogretimdeki reform hareketlerinin uygulamaya gecirilmesinin de yararli olabilecegi dusunulmustur.
