Introduction: Voiding diary (VD) is an important tool in the evaluation of children with voiding symptoms. Voiding frequency, maximal voided volume (MVV), average voided volume (AVV) and nocturnal volume (NV) can be extracted and are valuable in diagnosing and monitoring these disorders. Recently, ICCS has reduced the period of data recording on VD from 3 to 2 days. We hypothesized that one day voiding diary would be enough for guiding treatment. Materials and Methods: Children with overactive bladder (OAB) and primary monosymptomatic enuresis (PMNE) were oriented to fulfill a 3-day VD. Data obtained from VD were evaluated for the first day (1dVD), the first two days (2dVD), and all 3 days (3dVD) and compared according to the MVV, AVV, frequency, NV and expected bladder capacity (EBC). The Friedman, Student's t test and the Fisher's exact was used. ANOVA was used for multiple comparisons. We also used Pearson correlation test. Results: Ninety-eight children were included, 59 had PMNE and 30 OAB. Frequency, AVV and VN were similar regardless how many days the voiding episodes were recorded. Only MVV was higher by a mean of only 32 mL on 3dVD compared to 1dVD. A 1dVD has a sensitivity of 93,9% and a positive likelihood ratio of 2.2. As for the correlation of MVV and EBC it was observed that in 83% of children, MVV was lower than EBC. MVV corresponds to 67% and 69% of EBC in children with PMNE and OAB, respectively. Conclusion: We believe that 1dVD is sufficient to assess these children. It has a high sensitivity and good correlation to 3dVD in evaluating these children. Bladder capacity in this population, evaluated by maximum voided volume, was close to 68% of that obtained by the EBC.

We have developed the amplitude versus angle full-waveform inversion (AVA-FWI) method. This method considers the complete seismic response of the layered medium, and so it is capable of correctly handling seismic amplitudes from prestack data with a wide angle range. This capability is very important because a reliable estimate of the elastic parameters and the density requires an incidence angle that goes beyond 30°. Our method inputs seismic traces from prestack time-migrated gathers ordered by angle of incidence and works under the local 1D assumption. AVA-FWI is a nonlinear inversion based on forward modeling by the reflectivity method, which substantially increases its computational cost with respect to conventional AVA inversion. To address this problem, we developed an efficient routine for angle gather modeling and a new method for differential seismogram generation that greatly reduces the amount of computation involved in this task. The AVA-FWI method was applied to synthetic data and to a geophysical reservoir characterization case study using the North Viking Graben open data set.

Se realizaron observaciones del ciclo de vida de Anopheles (K) neivai en la localidad de Charambirá, departamento de Chocó. Este mosquito, reconocido vector de malaria en la Costa Pacífica de Colombia, se cría en los tanques de agua formados por las plantas epífitas de la familia Bromeliaceae. Se recolectaron mosquitos y se mantuvieron en cautiverio hasta obtener las oviposturas a partir de las cuales se realizó el seguimiento sobre la duración de los estadios larvales del anofelino.Se encontró que la duración de la fase de huevo fe de 3.17 días y que los estadios larvales primero al cuarto duraron, respectivamente, 6.30, 4.80, 4.70 y 5.72. La fase de pupa duró 3.20 días, para un total de 27.89 días de huevo hasta adulto.En cuanto a la mortalidad se encontró que los primeros estadios larvales, incluyendo la fase de huevo, presentan una gran mortalidad que disminuye en el estadio cuarto y en el de pupa. La mortalidad total encontrada fue de 83%. Por otra parte la medida de la cápsula cefálica se presenta como una medida de poca variación que permite siempre estimar con certeza el estadio de desarrollo de una larva.

Grounded in Achievement Goal Theory of Nicholls (1989), the aim of this study was to assess the development of four teaching interventions based on the TARGET areas of Ames (1992) and verify their effect on the perceived motivational climate at situational level in Physical Education (PE) classes. Participants were 580 secondary education students aged between 11 and 15 (12.46±1.15) years. A quasiexperimental design was utilised for four teaching units, each lasting for 10 sessions. The intervention programme was applied in the four experimental subgroups (n=263) by means of motivational strategies to generate a task-oriented climate. In the four control subgroup (n=317), students received conventional PE classes. The perceived motivational climate of each unit was evaluated at the end of the intervention for the different contents. Results showed significantly higher values for the experimental subgroups, in terms of perceived task-oriented motivational climate for the four teaching units, than in the control subgroups. These findings highlight the need to generate specific intervention strategies in order to generate an optimal motivational climate in PE classes.Keywords: Teaching intervention; TARGET areas; Adolescence; Task-oriented climate; Motivational climate; Physical education.

Se usa una versión del método armónico de Shureman para predecir la altura del agua continuamente en Puntarenas utilizando las seis componentes armónicas principales. Los procedimientos presentados son aplicables hasta el año 1990 y poseen un error absoluto máximo de 0,294 metros. El algoritmo de solución presentado requiere para su ejecución solamente de una calculadora pequeña con capacidad para almacenar 25 datos y un programa BASIC de 100 instrucciones fácilmente ejecutable en una minicomputadora común.&nbsp
