The Zoological Collection of the University of Rostock looks back on an eventful history. Phases of decline alternated with periods of recovery and further development. The accommodation, focus and orientation of the collection have also changed several times. The five periods of the Zoological Collection of the University of Rostock, which can be distinguished chronologically as well as according to their orientation and specific thematic emphases, are presented in this paper. Individual objects or persons will only be mentioned if they are linked to the history of the collection in a special way. The Zoological Collection is one of the few institutions of the University of Rostock that has existed permanently since its foundation in 1775, although not at the present location, nor with its current orientation as a university showroom and research collection. Abstract

Educational lecture program (Non)useful sex was created by the museum educationalists as an accompanying program to the exhibition „Love in Nature - A Guide to Intimate Animal Life”. Authors of the exhibition, Dr. Peter Adamík and Dr. Miloš Krist, revealed the variety of the animals‘ sexual lives and pointed out the fact that even without having sex, the animals can be reproduced. The visitors were acquainted with various topics, including methods of animal reproduction, courtships, and sexual organs. The exhibition was to be seen at the Museum of Natural History in Olomouc from April 7 to September 24, 2017. The educational lecture program was conceived for the II. degree of primary schools, high schools and Gymnasiums. From the evaluation, it emerged that teachers welcomed such educational lecturing programs and would like to continue to use them. Programs can be fully integrated into the Framework Educational Program. The educational lecture program was attended by 15 classes, representing about 460 students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

27. On anthropological knowledge.

Abstract

It was in the fifties that Lévi-Strauss explicitly focused on anthropological knowledge, at a decisive moment indeed. A deep, to many readers troubling, difference opposes The Elementary Structures of Kinship (1949a; 1969a) to a series of later, connected books beginning with The Savage Mind (1962b; 1966b). It testified to a completely new approach to ethnographic understanding. Lévi-Strauss himself confirmed the break. In between, ten years had passed, devoted to an epistemological reflection, echoed in homages paid to Mauss, Durkheim and Rousseau. Lévi-Strauss had definitely turned to a question first raised by Mauss, who left it unanswered, standing as a sealed legacy. When Lévi-Strauss came back from New York, he might have decided either to start new fieldwork in the Pacific or to pursue his theoretical research, turning to some non-elementary structures of kinship. These would have supplied a link of sorts to confront contemporary social constructions of family relations in post-war Western societies. Although he never forgot his concern for civil life, he finally chose a third option, precisely to reconsider anthropological knowledge as such. Three enigmas surfaced out of his preceding experiences. One is closely bound to structuralism, another to his Brazilian fieldwork and the third to Mauss's limited success in The Gift. All have to do with the very possibility of anthropology as a science. The uncontested achievement of The Elementary Structures of Kinship (1949a; 1969a) had come at an excessively high price. To confirm his argument and give it a decisive perspicuity, Lévi-Strauss resorted to a mathematical representation, a specific application of group theory supplied by the mathematician André Weil. Abstract

The Władysław Rydzewski Museum of Natural History, University of Wrocław (MNHW) is among the oldest museums of its kind in Poland and the largest such museum being part of university in our country. It was established in 1814 as the University's Zoological Museum on the initiative of J.L.C. Gravenhorst, the first zoology professor in Wrocław. 2014 is the Museum's 200. anniversary. During almost half of its history it was located in the halls of the University's Main Building. Since 1904, it occupied its present location at 21 Sienkiewicza street, and additionally, since 2004 it acquired a new Herbarium building where also the entomological collections were transferred. The Museum's biological collections, which were among the richest in Europe, suffered greatly during World War II; in all, half of the zoological collections and nearly two thirds of the herbarium were lost. Despite the losses, the collection is the second largest in Poland. After the war, under the Polish government, the Museum remained part of the University and its significance increased. In 1974 it became the present-day Museum of Natural History, of a rank of research institute. Two years later, having fused with the Herbarium and the former Botanical Museum, and having taken over the old and valuable plant collections, the Museum acquired its present structure and status. The main spiritus movens of the organisation changes and post-war scientific development was the Museum's director of 1963-1980, professor W. Rydzewski. In recognition of his merits, since 1985 the Museum bears his name. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

V magistrskem delu se ukvarjam z izvedbo analogno-digitalne knjige brez besed. V teoretičnem delu obravnavam teme, ki so sestavni del knjižnega projekta in se navezujejo tako na njegovo realizacijo kot tudi na vsebino. V teoretičnem delu raziskujem pojme domišljijske ilustracije, likovnega jezika, branja podob in celostnega oblikovanja knjige, saj so to elementi, ki zahtevajo potrebno pozornost, da z njimi omogočamo prenos sporočila od ilustratorja k bralcu. Nadalje se posvetim definiciji interaktivnosti in pregledu že obstoječih interaktivnih knjig. Teme, pomembne za realizacijo knjižnega projekta, so ilustracija, knjiga brez besed in interaktivnost. Domišljija pa je tema, ki se nanaša na vsebinski del in sporočilnost knjige, zato poudarim njene pomembne lastnosti. V praktičnem delu pojasnim celoten proces nastajanja knjižnega projekta, od idejne zasnove do končne izvedbe. Opišem vsebino avtorske zgodbe, pripravo zgodborisa, razvoj protagonistov, izrazno tehniko in likovno analizo. Oblikovanje knjige zajema celostno izvedbo projekta, od grafičnega oblikovanja do vrste tiska in načina vezave. Pri digitalni nadgradnji pa razložim uporabo aplikacije in proces animiranja ilustracij. In the Master's thesis, I deal with the implementation of an analogue-digital wordless book. In the theoretical part, I discuss topics that are an integral part of the book project and relate to its realization and content. In this part, I explore the concepts of conceptual illustration, visual language, reading of images and the overall book design, as these are the elements that require the necessary attention to enable them to convey a message from the illustrator to the reader. Furthermore, I focus on defining interactivity and reviewing the existing interactive books. Topics relevant to the realization of the book project are illustration, a wordless book and interactivity. Imagination is a subject that pertains to the content and message of a book, so I emphasize its essential features. In the practical part, I explain the entire process of the book project, from the conceptual design to the final implementation. I describe the content of my authorial story, the preparation of the storyboard, development of the protagonists, expressive technique and visual analysis. Book design covers the overall execution of the project, from graphic design to print type and binding method. As far as the digital upgrade is concerned, I explain the use of the application and the process of animating illustrations.

Abstract

International audience; This article studies the transposition of a childhood literature album, into a scientific exhibition which was designed in 2015 by the Museum of Natural History of Lille. The album called De la petite taupe qui voulait savoir qui lui avait fait sur la tête (The story of the little moll who Knew it was none of his business) has been written by Werner Holzwarth and illustrated by Wolf Erlbruch. The authors of this article (searchers on French didactics and sciences didactics) shared their glances and their analyzes both on the album object and on the exhibition and the school visit in order to present a cross-reading. They question the museographic and scenographic choices that contributed to the specific design of the exhibition. Then, relying on one of the visits they observed, filmed and retranscribed, they identify the place of the album in the visiting experience through the mediation of the guide: how the album is re-introduced among the museographic choices made beforehand? How scientific and museological knowledges are built around the album to arise specific content?; Cet article s’intéresse à la transposition d’un album de littérature de jeunesse, De la petite taupe qui voulait savoir qui lui avait fait sur la tête de Werner Holzwarth et illustré par Wolf Erlbruch en une exposition scientifique. Celle-ci a été conçue en 2015 par le Musée d’histoire naturelle de Lille. Les auteures, deux didacticiennes, du français pour l’une et des sciences pour l’autre, croisent leurs regards et leurs analyses à la fois sur l’objet album pour présenter les lectures croisées qu’elles en font, mais aussi sur l’exposition et la visite scolaire qui en est faite. Elles interrogent alors les choix muséographiques et scénographiques qui ont contribué à la conception de l’exposition. Puis, s’appuyant sur l’une des visites qu’elles ont observées, filmées et retranscrites, elles identifient à travers la médiation du guide : la place de l’album dans l’expérience de visite : comment il est ré-introduit parmi les choix muséographiques effectués préalablement ? Comment les savoirs scientifiques et muséologiques se construisent autour de l’album pour envisager des contenus spécifiques ?

El centro de documentación del Museo de La Salle Bogotá, tiene un gran acervo bibliográfico y documental. Esta unidad de información tiene una trascendencia histórica; es un espacio en donde se conservan variedad de soportes conformados por manuscritos, catálogos, libros, publicaciones seriadas, materiales sonoros, fotográficos y audiovisuales, entre otros, que hacen alusión a hechos que surgieron del ámbito investigativo, educativo y divulgativo que aportaron y generaron impacto en la memoria nacional a nivel científico y cultural, entre otras temáticas más institucionales. Este patrimonio bibliográfico y documental son registros de información y conocimiento, algunas veces producida por el mismo museo y otras, adquiridas por compra, programas de donación o canje entre diferentes instituciones a nivel local, nacional e internacional. En este documento contaremos de manera general algunos aspectos de este patrimonio y de la unidad de información que lo custodia, desconocido para muchos dentro de una gran institución., The documentation center of the Museum of La Salle Bogotá, has a great bibliographical and documentary collection. This unit of information has a historical significance; Is a space where there are preserved a variety of media made up of manuscripts, catalogs, books, serials, diplomas, sound, photographic and audiovisual material, among others, that allude to facts that arose from the research, educational and informational field. That contributed and generated impact in the national memory at the scientific and cultural level, among other more institutional topics. This library and documentary heritage are records of information and knowledge, sometimes produced by the same museum and others, acquired by purchase, donation programs or exchange between different institutions at local, national and international level. In this document we will generally tell some aspects of this heritage and the information unit that holds it, unknown to many within a large institution

The article reports on the dispute between the National Historical Museum, the Museum of Natural History and the anthropological department of the University of Chile over the possession of a newfound, well-refrigerated human body that is believed to be at least 400 years old. Two students of University of Chile offered all their money to the two Andean mule drivers to buy the body.
