In this study, two Lactarius species are reported which form mycorrhizal associations with Cistus laurifolius. Of these, Lactarius tesquorum is a rare species in the mycota of Turkey, and L. cistophilus is a new record. The current research is based on macrofungi collected from Ilgaz Mountain National Park and its environs between 2004 and 2008. As a result of field and laboratory studies, 220 taxa belonging to 59 families were identified. Nineteen taxa belong to Ascomycota and 201 to Basidiomycota. Three Bisporella subpallida, Tricholoma bufonium, Leucogyrophana pseudomollusca represent new records for Turkish mycobiota. Marasmius castaneophilus, a new agaric (Marasmiaceae, Agaricales, Basidiomycota) growing on sweet chestnut husks in Turkey, is described and illustrated. Its taxonomic position within the genus is discussed.

Twenty-nine new records are reported from Turkey. The fungi species, including their macro-and microscopic features and distributions, are described.

The results were 0.37 +/- A 0.01-5.28 +/- A 0.21 for cadmium, 467 +/- A 19-3,280 +/- A 131 for iron, 0.69 +/- A 0.03-9.15 +/- A 0.37 for lead, 18.70 +/- A 0.75-67.10 +/- A 2.68 for selenium, 75 +/- A 3-213 +/- A 8 for zinc and 0.15 +/- A 0.01-0.55 +/- A 0.01 for mercury (as mu g/g). The detection limits for ICPOES were found as 0.25 for Cadmium, 0.2 for iron, 0.1 for lead, 0.5 for selenium, 0.2 for zinc and 0.03 for mercury (as mg L-1). The Relatively Standard Deviations (R.S.D.) were found below 4.0%. The accuracy of procedure was confirmed by certified reference material.

A case of mushroom poisoning by false morel, Gyromitra esculenta (Pers.) Fr. (Ascomycetes), in Denizli, Turkey, is reported and documented. A short description of the taxon, case of poisoning, and taxonomic discussions of G. esculenta is presented. © 2009 by Begell House, Inc.

Two cases of poisoning by Lepiota helveola Bres. (Agaricales, Lepiotaceac) in southern Turkey are documented; a total of eleven people died in the two poisonings. The complexity of the taxonomy surrounding L. helveola is discussed, and a key to mentioned species is provided.

The concentrations of Cu, Cd, Co, Ni, Mn, Pb, Zn and Fe in 66 samples of mushroom fruiting bodies, representing seven species, mainly all edible, were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The mushrooms were collected from near roads and inner parts of forest and lawns in Bahkesir in the north western part of Turkey. The results indicate that the Fe level in the species Volvariella speciosa (Fr.) Sing. from near the road was the highest with a mean of 6990 mg/kg. The level of Ni was the highest in Clitocybe flaccida (Sow.: Fr.) Kummer, from near road with a mean of 3.32 mg/kg. Cu levels were almost similar for both areas within a range of 35-89 mg/kg in the different species. The Cd was accumulated mostly by Lactarius sanguifluus (Paulet: Fr.) Pr. and V. speciosa from near road with a mean of 1.60 mg/kg. Concentration of Mn, Pb, Co and Zn in L. sanguifluus from near road were the highest with means of 63.6, 7.66, 6.03 and 149 mg/kg, respectively. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.

Eight metal contents were determined in wild growing macrofungi collected from two different areas in Balikesir and Akhisar (NW Turkey). The analysis has been done by atomic absorption spectrophotometry in 179 samples of 16 species. Pb was accumulated extensively by G. sessile and L. cinerascens in both areas. Concentration of Cd was significantly high in A. pseudopratensis from background area and M. excissa from near road area. The high concentrations of Fe and Zn were found in M. ramealis and L. cinerascens for both areas. The mean concentration of Cu was high in V. pratense from background area and C. butyracea var. butyracea from near road area. The highest mean concentrations of Co and Mn for both areas were seen in G. sessile and M. excissa, respectively. A high Ni concentration was found in G. sessile and H. hypothejus from background area. We found no considerably significant differences in the concentrations of all studied elements between two areas.
