Introduction: Syndactyly is a common congenital deformity with an incidence of 1/2000–3000 with a male predominance. Several surgical approaches were described for various clinical presentations. Despite well-documented techniques in current literature, causes, and management of complications remain a topic of debate and often vary based on clinical experience. This study aims to outline our surgical outcome and compare the related complications to those reported in the literature. Materials and Methods: Patient data were extracted from the clinical database and a retrospective study was conducted on 55 patients who underwent syndactyly release. Standardized surgical interventions were performed and early postoperative complications were recorded. Results: Of 55 patients, 39 patients were male and 16 were female. The surgical release of 102 webs (63 hands-71 webs, 21 feet-31 webs) was performed. Gender is not a factor that affects the complication rates (P = 0.062, P > 0.05). Age at surgery over 2 years is associated with increased postoperative complications (P = 0.032, P < 0.05). During the follow-up period, the most frequent complication was web creep (7%). Conclusion: Our retrospective study, despite its limitations, provides valuable insights into achieving successful outcomes and guides future research.

Background: To determine the association between neurological soft signs, executive functions, and serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels in children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Methods: Serum BDNF levels were measured in 87 drug-naive boys with ADHD, aged 7–12 years. The Revised Physical and Neurological Examination for Subtle Signs for neurological soft signs, Stroop Color-Word Test for attention functions, and Judgment of Line Orientation Test (JLOT) for visuospatial abilities were performed. Results: Age correlated negatively with dysrhythmia, total time, and total overflow in timed movements, Stroop Color-Word Time (SCWT), and serum BDNF levels. The JLOT significantly negatively correlated with Total Gaits and Stations (P1) and Total Time in Timed Movements (adjusted R2 = 0.247). In addition, SCWT maintained a significant correlation with Total Overflow in Timed Movements (adjusted R2 = 0.206). There was no correlation between serum BDNF levels and NSS. Conclusion: The association between NSS, visuospatial abilities, and selective attention may express a maturational delay in ADHD pathophysiology. Moreover, BDNF may play a role in this maturational delay. Future studies should investigate the contribution of BDNF to neuronal maturation in ADHD.

Background/Objectives: Acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) presents a significant clinical challenge characterized by frequent hospitalizations, high mortality rates, and substantial healthcare costs. The united index of hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocytes and platelets (HALP) is a new indicator that reflects systemic inflammation and nutritional status. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic utility of the HALP score and hematological parameters in predicting short-term mortality among ADHF patients admitted to the coronary care unit (CCU). Methods: This investigation adopts a retrospective observational design, encompassing a cohort of patients with ADHF who were followed in the CCU at our medical institution between January 2019 and April 2024. Results: The cohort of 227 individuals was dichotomized into two subsets based on the presence or absence of short-term mortality in the hospital, resulting in 163 (71.8%) and 64 (28.2%) individuals in the survivor and exitus groups, respectively. Age was significantly higher in the exitus group (p-value = 0.004). Hemoglobin, lymphocyte count, platelet count, albumin, and HALP score were significantly higher in the survivor group (all p-values < 0.001). No significant difference was observed between the groups in terms of gender, diabetes mellitus (DM), coronary artery disease (CAD), or ejection fraction (EF), although hypertension (HT) prevalence was significantly higher in the exitus group (p-value = 0.038). ROC analysis demonstrated that hemoglobin, lymphocyte, albumin, and HALP score had significant discriminative power, with albumin showing the highest AUC (0.814). Conclusions: In conclusion, the HALP score and hematological parameters represent valuable prognostic feature for short-term mortality prediction in ADHF patients admitted to the CCU. These findings underscore the importance of early risk stratification and targeted interventions guided by comprehensive biomarker assessments in optimizing patient outcomes.

As a consequence of the limited availability of fossil fuels, green energy is gaining more and more popularity. Home and business electricity is currently limited to solar thermal energy. Essential receivers in current solar thermal power plants can endure high temperatures. This ensures funding for green thermal power generation. Regular solar thermal power plant testing is arduous and time-consuming. They need expensive installation and take up much space. Many free software and tools can model and simulate solar thermal-producing systems. Some techniques can evaluate and predict the plant’s performance, while others can investigate specific components. Nothing using research tools has ever reached the top. Simulated testing may precede power plant construction. This research requires basic visual help. A rudimentary plant model was developed when the computational calculations for thermal performance were obtained. Plus, it may estimate how much power the facility would produce. The program includes hydraulic heat transport fluids, ambient factors, a database, and user input parameters. Free hourly weather data from anywhere is available from the simulator. The simulator calculates the thermal power delivered by each component while running constituent simulators.

Aim:There is limited literature on coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) and tuberculosis (TB) coinfection, although high rates of coinfection between COVID-19 and other respiratory pathogens are expected. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to examine COVID-19 infection in patients diagnosed with active or previously treated TB in Turkey. In this study, the aim was to examine the frequency of COVID-19 and the factors affecting the frequency of COVID-19 in patients with active or previously treated TB.Methods:The population of the retrospective cohort type study consisted of patients with TB enrolled in the Elazig Tuberculosis Dispensary between January 2015 and April 2021. The TB-related data of the patients was obtained from the Public Health Management System Tuberculosis System, and the COVID-19 information was obtained from the COVID-19 Case Tracking System. The status of being alive or dead and the date of death if they were dead were obtained from the Central Population Management System.Results:23.92% (n=105) of 439 patients with TB were COVID-19 cases. Advanced age, having at least one comorbid disease, and the presence of chronic pulmonary disease, diabetes mellitus, and heart disease increased the risk of developing COVID-19 in active or previously treated patients with TB.Conclusion:COVID-19 was detected more frequently in active or previously treated TB patients than in the general population. Within the scope of public health services implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, priority should be given to the TB patient group and older people, especially those with comorbid chronic pulmonary disease, diabetes mellitus, and heart disease in this group.

This study aimed to compare tissue levels of CD80 (pro-inflammatory macrophage-related surface marker), CD163, and CD206 (anti-inflammatory macrophage-related surface markers), and their ratios in periodontal and peri-implant health and disease. Altogether, 36 tissue samples were obtained from 36 participants with clinically healthy gingiva (n = 10), healthy peri-implant mucosa (n = 8), periodontitis lesions (n = 9), and peri-implantitis lesions (n = 9). CD80, CD163, and CD206 levels were assessed with immunoblotting. CD163 levels were found to be decreased (p = 0.004), and the CD80/CD163 ratio was found to be elevated (p = 0.002) in periodontitis lesions compared to healthy gingiva. Peri-implantitis lesions showed a tendency towards a higher CD80/CD163 ratio than in healthy peri-implant mucosa with a borderline difference (p = 0.054). No statistically significant difference was detected in CD80, CD163, and CD206 levels of periodontitis lesions when compared to peri-implantitis, and in healthy gingiva when compared to healthy peri-implant mucosa. A disruption in CD80/CD163 balance seems to be related to the pathogenesis of periodontitis and peri-implantitis, being less prominent in the latter. The reason behind this phenomenon may be either suppressed CD163 expression or reduced CD163+ anti-inflammatory macrophage abundance.

Aim:In this study, the factors affecting the development of recoarctation in patients who had been operated for aortic coarctation (AC) were investigated. It was aimed to contribute to the reduction of recoarctation rates in the light of the results obtained.Materials and Methods:In this retrospective study, 217 patients out of 358 patients, who underwent surgical correction for the diagnosis of AC at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery between 1977 and 2010, who were followed up regularly, and whose data could be reached, were included. Introduction: Transradial coronary angiography (TRA) is associated with a lower incidence of bleeding rate and access site complications and is associated with better outcomes compared to transfemoral angiography. However, radial artery spasm (RAS) is an important limitation of TRA procedures. Little is known regarding the relationship of serum vasodilator and inflammatory markers with RAS. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the association between serum adropin level and RAS in patients undergoing TRA. Methods: From February 2020 to January 2021, 39 consecutive patients who underwent elective daiagnostic TRA and experienced RAS during the procedure, and 42 age and sex matched controls who did not experience RAS were prospectively included into the study. The groups were compared regarding serum adropin levels and inflammatory markers. Results: Although adropin levels were found to be lower in the RAS group, this difference was not statistically significant between the the patients with RAS and controls (14.9 vs. 16.1,P=0.105). However, inflammatory parameters monocyte count and MHR (monocyte/HDLcholesterol ratio) were found to be statistically significantly higher in the RAS group compared to controls (P=0.001 and P=0.010, respectively). Background : Development of methods to accelerate nerve regeneration in peripheral nerve damage is important. Electroacupuncture is a new therapeutic method that combines traditional acupuncture with modern electrotherapy. Melatonin has been shown to reduce nerve damage. Objectives: In this study, we aimed to determine and compare the therapeutic effects of electroacupuncture and melatonin on rat sciatic nerve injury. Methods : A total of 56 adult male Wistar Albino rats were divided into four study groups with 14 animals in each group: intact control (group I), subcutaneous saline (group II), subcutaneous melatonin (group III), and electroacupuncture (group IV). Surgical procedure including unilateral (right) sciatic nerve injury was applied to groups II, III, and IV. Saline and melatonin started immediately after surgery for six weeks, while electroacupuncture was given two weeks after surgery for 3 weeks. Functional and histological assessments were used as outcome measurements. Results : Sciatic nerve damage caused a significant decrease in nerve conduction velocity. Both electroacupuncture treatment and melatonin treatment significantly increased the nerve conduction velocity. Both sciatic functional recovery and histological regeneration were faster in these treatment groups compared to the saline. However, no significant difference was observed between the two treatment groups. Conclusion : Electroacupuncture and melatonin are promising alternative treatment strategies for peripheral nerve damage and can be examined in detail in future studies.

Aim:To investigate if there is an association between the blood groups of convalescent plasma (CP) donors and Severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus-2 infection risk.Methods:Blood groups of 30605 CP donors were compared with 1316676 Turkish Red Crescent (TRC) whole blood donors. Software data of TRC for the period between 07 April 2020 and 11 December 2020 was analyzed as a retrospective cohort study.Results:Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) infection risks were higher in A (46.1% vs. 41.6%, p=0.001), AB (8.3% vs. 7.6%, p=0.001), Rh (+) (89.2% vs. 87.5%, p=0.001), A Rh (+) (41.1% vs. 36.6%, p=0.001) and AB Rh (+) (7.4% vs. 6.6%, p=0.001) groups; they were lower in O (29.8% vs. 34.4%, p=0.001), B (15.9% vs. 16.4%, p=0.008), Rh (-) (10.8% vs. 12.5%, p=0.001), B Rh (-) (1.7% vs. 2.0%, p=0.001), O Rh (+) (26.6% vs. 29.9%, p=0.001) and O Rh (-) (3.2% vs. 4.5%, p=0.001) groups.Conclusions:There might be an increased COVID-19 risk in A, AB, Rh (+) and A Rh (+) and AB Rh (+) groups as well as a decreased risk in O, B, Rh (-) and O Rh (+), O Rh (-) and B Rh (-) groups.

Abstract Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) has uncovered hundreds of common and rare genetic variants involved in complex and rare diseases including immune deficiencies in both an autosomal recessive and autosomal dominant pattern. These rare variants however, cannot be classified clinically, and common variants only marginally contribute to disease susceptibility. In this study, we evaluated the multi-gene panel results of Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) patients and argue that rare variants located in different genes play a more prominent role in disease susceptibility and/or etiology. We performed NGS on DNA extracted from the peripheral blood leukocytes from 103 patients using a panel of 19 CVID-related genes: CARD11, CD19, CD81, ICOS, CTLA4, CXCR4, GATA2, CR2, IRF2BP2, MOGS, MS4A1, NFKB1, NFKB2, PLCG2, TNFRSF13B, TNFRSF13C, TNFSF12, TRNT1 and TTC37. Detected variants were evaluated and classified based on their impact, pathogenicity classification and population frequency as well as the frequency within our study group. NGS revealed 112 different (a total of 227) variants with under 10% population frequency in 103 patients of which 22(19.6%) were classified as benign, 29(25.9%) were classified as likely benign, 4(3.6%) were classified as likely pathogenic and 2(1.8%) were classified as pathogenic. Moreover, 55(49.1%) of the variants were classified as variants of uncertain significance. We also observed different variant frequencies when compared to population frequency databases. Case–control data is not sufficient to unravel the genetic etiology of immune deficiencies. Thus, it is important to understand the incidence of co-occurrence of two or more rare variants to aid in illuminating their potential roles in the pathogenesis of immune deficiencies.

ABSTRACT The presence of persistent left superior vena cava to the left atrium connection without an innominate vein may give rise to technical challenges during intracardiac repair. In this report, the end-to-side anastomosis technique of the persistent left superior vena cava to the right superior vena cava is discussed in a patient with tetralogy of Fallot associated with persistent left superior vena cava draining directly into the left atrium. A successful end-to-side anastomosis between the persistent left superior vena cava and the right superior vena cava was performed and short-term anastomosis patency was documented via angiography.

INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to determine the frequency of medical application (medical app) use in emergency medical training by 6th year (senior year) medical faculty students and the contribution of these applications to learning. METHODS: The population of this study consisted of 6th year (senior year) medical students who completed their emergency medical internship training. Online questionnaires were prepared based on literature data and experience, and the students were asked to complete these questionnaires on a voluntary basis. RESULTS: Surveys were completed by 95 students who agreed to participate, 45 of these students who did not receive Emergency Medicine internship were excluded from the study.. Of the participants, 38.6% (n = 22) were female and 61.4% (n = 35) were male, while 56.1% (n = 32) were between the ages of 18-24 and 43.9% (n = 25) were between the ages of 25-29. Of the students, 68% thought that, compared to the other branches, medical app use increased to a greater extent during emergency medical training. It was found that 70% of the students used medical apps in the emergency room to access information such as drug dosage and indications, while 62% used medical apps to learn about ECG. It was found that 80% of the students never or rarely used applications that contained medical calculators. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Medical app use by senior medical faculty students during their emergency medical training is increasing. Students use applications on drugs, ECG and radiological evaluation more frequently, compared to applications on medical dictionary, anatomy and medical calculators.

ABSTRACT Objective: Ubiquitin C-terminal Hydrolase-L1 (UCH-L1) enzyme levels were investigated in patients with epilepsy, epileptic seizure, remission period, and healthy individuals. Methods: Three main groups were evaluated, including epileptic seizure, patients with epilepsy in the non-seizure period, and healthy volunteers. The patients having a seizure in the Emergency department or brought by a postictal confusion were included in the epileptic attack group. The patients having a seizure attack or presenting to the Neurology outpatient department for follow up were included in the non-seizure (remission period) group. Results: The UCH-L1 enzyme levels of 160 patients with epilepsy (80 patients with epileptic attack and 80 patients with epilepsy in the non-seizure period) and 100 healthy volunteers were compared. Whereas the UCH-L1 enzyme levels were 8.30 (IQR=6.57‒11.40) ng/mL in all patients with epilepsy, they were detected as 3.90 (IQR=3.31‒7.22) ng/mL in healthy volunteers, and significantly increased in numbers for those with epilepsy (p

Introduction: Muscle-flap transferring is a routine approach utilized in reconstructive operations; however, flap morbidity is often a source of post-operative difficulty. Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury (IRI) is an important contributor to the viability of flaps after transferring. The goal of this research was for assess the probable useful impacts of ozone on flap survival in a rat muscle-flap design. Materials and Methods: We examined the effects of postconditioning ozone administration on viability of pedicled composite flaps. Twenty-eight Wistar rats were randomized into four groups: sham-operated (S), ischemia-reperfusion (IR), sham-operated + ozone (O), IR + ozone (IR + O), respectively. The animals were sacrificed on the eighth day. In a general histological evaluation, flap tissues were examined with a light microscope, and apoptotic cells were counted. The Apoptotic Index (AI) was then calculated. Flap-tissue samples were sent for analyses of malondialdehyde (MDA), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and protein carbonyl (PCO), and blood samples were sent for analyses of Total Oxidant Score (TOS), and Total Antioxidant Capacity (TAC). Data were evaluated statistically using the Kruskal–Wallis test. Results: The histomorphometric score was remarkably greater in O (p = .002). The AI was greater in IR (p = .002). Three prime repair exonuclease 1 (TREX1) degrades single- and double-stranded DNA with 3’-5’ exonuclease activity. TREX1 mutations are related to type 1 interferon-mediated autoinflammation owing to accumulated intracellular nucleic acids. Several cases of systemic lupus erythematosus, Aicardi–Goutieres syndrome (AGS), familial chilblain lupus (FCL), and retinal vasculopathy-cerebral leukodystrophy caused by TREX1 mutations have been reported, so far. In this report, we described five patients with TREX1 mutations from three families with three different disorders, which include AGS, FCL, and FCL with central nervous system vasculitis.

A series of novel calix[4]azacrown substituted sulphonamide Schiff bases was synthesised by the reaction of calix[4]azacrown aldehydes with different substituted primary and secondary sulphonamides. The obtained novel compounds were investigated as inhibitors of six human (h) isoforms of carbonic anhydrases (CA, EC 4.2.1.1). Their antioxidant profile was assayed by various bioanalytical methods. The calix[4]azacrown substituted sulphonamide Schiff bases were also investigated as inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase (AChE), butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) and tyrosinase enzymes, associated with several diseases such as Alzheimer, Parkinson, and pigmentation disorders. The new sulphonamides showed low to moderate inhibition against hCAs, AChE, BChE, and tyrosinase enzymes. However, some of them possessed relevant antioxidant activity, comparable with standard antioxidants used in the study.

Objective: The aim of this cross-sectional, retrospective, descriptive study was to review and classify cardiac masses systematically and to determine their frequencies. Methods: The medical records of 64,862 consecutive patients were investigated within 12 years. Every patient with a cardiac mass imaged by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and confirmed with an advanced imaging modality such as transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), computed tomography (CT) and/or cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) was included. Acute coronary syndromes triggering thrombus formation, vegetations, intracardiac device and catheter related thrombi were excluded. Results: Data demonstrated 127 (0.195%) intracardiac masses consisting of 33 (0.050%) primary benign, 3 (0.004%) primary malignant, 20 (0.030%) secondary tumors, 3 (0.004%) hydatid cysts and 68 (0.104%) thrombi respectively. The majority of primary cardiac tumors were benign (91.67%), predominantly myxomas (78.79%), and the less malignant (8.33%). Secondary cardiac tumors were common than the primary malignant tumors (20:3), with male dominancy (55%), lymphoma and lung cancers were the most frequent. Intracardiac thrombi was the majority of the cardiac masses, thrombi accompanying malignancies were in the first range (n = 17, 25%), followed by autoimmune diseases (n = 13, 19.12%) and ischemic heart disease with low ejection fraction (n = 12, 17.65%). Conclusions: This retrospective analysis identified 127 patients with cardiac masses. The majority of benign tumors were myxoma, the most common tumors that metastasized to the heart were lymphoma and lung cancers, and the thrombi associated with malignancies and autoimmune diseases were the most frequent.

Objective New anti-cancer drugs promise to increased survival benefits and reduce adverse events. Trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) is a novel anti-human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 agent that has shown minimal cardiotoxicity in clinical trials. However, data on real-life outcomes are required. Methods A retrospective review of our center’s medical records was performed, including female patients aged ≥18 years with a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer who were treated with T-DM1. Descriptive statistics were used to investigate clinical features that could increase the risk of cardiotoxicity. Cardiotoxicity was determined by comparing pre and post-T-DM1 echocardiogram results and was defined as a decrease in the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) >10% to below 55%. Results Data from 41 female patients with a mean age of 52 ± 11.5 years were evaluated. A significant LVEF decrease (from 59% to 33%) was observed in one patient during T-DM1 treatment. Further investigation showed that this decrease was due to underlying coronary artery disease, and LVEF recovered to the baseline value after coronary revascularization. Conclusion T-DM1 seems to be safe in terms of cardiotoxicity. Real-life data with a larger sample size are still needed to confirm the cardiac safety of T-DM1.

maç: Bu çalışmanın amacı kardiyoloji polikliniğine çarpıntı veya göğüs ağrısı yakınmasıyla başvuran 18-25 yaş aralığındaki bireylerde kalp hastalığı varlığı ve yokluğuna göre anksiyete ve depresyon düzeylerini karşılaştırmaktır.Gereç ve Yöntem: Başkent Üniversitesi Adana Dr. Turgut Noyan Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezi Kardiyoloji Polikliniğine başvuran 18-25 yaş aralığındaki bireyler değerlendirilmiştir. Ellidört erkek ve 60 kadın olmak üzere toplam 114 kişi çalışmaya alınmıştır. Hastaneye başvuranların yanında refakatçi olarak gelen 18-25 yaş aralığındaki sağlıklı 44 kişi kontrol grubunu oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak Beck Depresyon Ölçeği (BDÖ) ve Beck Anksiyete Ölçeği (BAÖ) kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Vaka grubunda 77 kişide herhangi bir kalp hastalığı saptanmamıştır. Otuz yedi kişiye bir kalp hastalığı tanısı konmuştur. Gruplar BDÖ ve BAÖ puanları açısından karşılaştırılmıştır. Göğüs ağrısı veya çarpıntı yakınması ile başvuran kalp hastalığı olan ve kalp hastalığı olmayan gruplardaki BDÖ ve BAÖ puanları yakınması olmayan kontrol grubuna göre anlamlı derecede daha yüksek saptanmıştır. Sonuç: Kardiyoloji polikliniğine göğüs ağrısı veya çarpıntı yakınmasıyla başvuran 18-25 yaş aralığındaki bireylerde kalp hastalığı varlığından bağımsız olarak depresyon ve anksiyete düzeyi puanları kontrol grubundan anlamlı olarak yüksek bulunmuştur.

In this study, the effects of operating conditions of photovoltaic (PV) panels in a power plant installed in Burdur province in Turkey with 8 MW capacity, the output power of the inverter and the power quality in the grid were examined experimentally in January and July. In addition, an artificial neural network (ANN) was utilized to estimate the power at the output of the inverter under different operating conditions and optimal operating conditions were attempted to be determined. In the ANN configuration, the output power generated in PV panels (PDC), radiation intensity, relative humidity and temperature measurements were used as input data, output power (PAC) at the junction of the inverter, power factor (PF) and the frequency values were used as output data. In order to ensure the integration of the energy obtained from the solar power plant by using the obtained results, it was tried to estimate the levels of the factors affecting the inverter output power and efficiency in terms of the proper operating conditions and efficiency. The aims of this study were to evaluate the traits of reproductive, milking and growth performance of Saanen and Saanen × Hair crossbreds (F1, B1 and B2) raised at the Bandırma Sheep Research Institute. The data were collected from 868 goats for reproductive performance and milk yield and from 1077 kids for survival performance between 2009-2012. Milk components (fat, protein, lactose and non-fat dry matter) of goats (n=162) and body weight changes of kid’s (n=64) were evaluated for one year in 2012. Estrus rates and survival rates were similar among all genotypes. Kidding rate was significantly higher in F1 goats than Saanen goats. Saanen goat had the lowest average mean daily milk yield compared with other genotypes. The effect of year and age were significant on milk yield. Goats in F1 and B1 genotypes had higher milk protein percentage and non-fat dry matter content in comparison with Saanen and B2 genotype. Milk fat and lactose contents were similar among genotypes. Birth weight and monthly live weight were similar between genotypes while weaning weight, six month live weight and yearling live weight were higher in B1 kids in comparison with Saanen kids. The effect of dam age and birth type were significant on birth weight, monthly live weight and weaning weight. The findings related to performance characteristics in goat genotypes investigated show that B1 genotype could be recommend for semi-intensive production system in the Western Anatolia.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by malar rash, oral ulcers, arthralgia, photosensitivity and nephritis. Herein, we report a rare comorbidity, multiple avascular necrosis (AVN), in an adolescent SLE patient and also highlight the importance of risk factors for this comorbidity with a brief literature review. A 13-year-old female patient was admitted with severe headache, visual plus auditory hallucinations, polyarthritis and a history of recurrent oral ulcers. Acneiform malar rash, arthritis, cytopenia, low complement levels and autoantibody positivity yielded SLE diagnosis. We diagnosed her as having multifocal AVN after the 4th dose of cyclophosphamide, with bilateral knee pain and swelling and typical geographical lesions on magnetic resonance imaging. Avascular necrosis is a rare comorbidity of SLE and neuropsychiatric involvement, cyclophosphamide administration and severe disease may be the possible risk factors in addition to corticosteroid use. Further multicenter studies investigating the possible risk factors of AVN with a large number of patients are needed.

Background/Aims Most important cause of mortality in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients is known to be cardiovascular disease (CVD). The objective of the present study was to evaluate the echocardiographic parameters in COPD patients with or without pre-diagnosed CVD and to investigate the relationship between echocardiographic parameters and systemic inflammation markers. Methods A total of 60 stable COPD patients (23 patients with CVD, group 1; 37 patients without CVD, group 2) and 21 healthy controls (group 3) were included in the study. Six-minute walking test (6MWT), COPD assessment test (CAT), and Body mass index, airflow Obstruction, Dyspnea, and Exercise (BODE) index results were recorded. High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (HsCRP), interleukin 8 (IL-8), fetuin-A, Clara cell protein (CCL-16), N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide levels were studied in serum. Parameters of left and right ventricular systolic and diastolic function were measured by echocardiography. Results Patients with COPD had higher levels of systemic inflammation markers and lower level of inflammation inhibitor fetuin-A. When three groups were compared, group 1 had lower 6MWT result. HsCRP was highest in group 2 while other inflammatory markers were similar in groups 1 and 2. Regarding echocardiographic parameters, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was lower and left ventricle end-diastolic diameter (LVED), left ventricle end-systolic diameter (LVES) diameters were higher in group 1. The aortic diameter was higher in COPD patients. Fetuin-A was correlated with diameter of aorta and LVES. LVEF, LVED, and LVES were found to be correlated with functional parameters of COPD cases. Conclusions In COPD, left ventricular functions are affected as well as right ventricle before prominent clinical findings of cardiac disease and these echocardiographic parameters correlate with functional parameters of COPD patients.

Periodontitis is a destructive disease of the tooth-surrounding tissues. Infection is the etiological cause of the disease, but its extent and severity depend on the immune–inflammatory response of the host. Immune cells use reactive oxygen species to suppress infections, and there is homeostasis between oxidative and antioxidant mechanisms during periodontal health. During periodontitis, however, increased oxidative stress triggers tissue damage, either directly by activating apoptosis and DNA damage or indirectly by activating proteolytic cascades. Periodontal treatment aims to maintain an infection and inflammation-free zone and, in some cases, regenerate lost tissues. Although mechanical disruption of the oral biofilm is an indispensable part of periodontal treatment, adjunctive measures, such as antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications, are also frequently used, especially in patients with suppressed immune responses. Recent studies have shown that probiotics activate antioxidant mechanisms and can suppress extensive oxidative stress via their ability to activate nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2). The aim of this narrative review is to describe the essential role of Nrf2 in the maintenance of periodontal health and to propose possible mechanisms to restore the impaired Nrf2 response in periodontitis, with the aid of probiotic and postbiotics.

Amaç: Orak hücreli anemide iskemik atakların T hücre profiline, immun fonksiyonlara ve klinik prognoza etkisinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır.Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışmaya 29 orak hücreli anemi hastası çocuklar çalışmaya dahil edildi. Çalışma grubu vazo-oklüzif kriz ve kriz dışı döneminde olan hastalardan oluşmaktaydı. Kontrol grubu olarak aynı yaş grubunda 24 sağlam çocuk alındı. Tüm çocuklardan tam kan sayımı, hemoglobin elektroforezi, kan biyokimyası çalışıldı. T hücre profilini belirlemek için akım sitometri yöntemi kullanıldı.Bulgular: Orak hücre anemili hastaların kriz dönemlerinde bakılan HbS ortalaması %83.8±6.6 bulundu. Orak hücre anemili hastaların kriz dönemlerinde bakılan CD3 değerleri (%62.31±7.79) aynı hastaların stabil dönemlerinde bakılan CD3 değerlerine (% 65,53±5,72) ve kontrol grubunda bakılan CD3 değerlerine (% 69,09±9,18) göre anlamlı olarak daha düşük bulundu. Orak hücre anemili hastaların kriz dönemlerinde bakılan doğal öldürücü T hücre değeri (%13.07±7.67) kontrol grubuna (%8.11±4.67) göre anlamlı olarak daha yüksek bulundu. Sonuç: Çalışma sonucunda kronik hemoliz ve doku hipoksisi ile seyreden orak hücre anemili hastalarda toplam T hücre sayısını gösteren CD3 değerleri vazo-oklüzif kriz döneminde kontrol grubuna göre daha düşük saptandı.. Doğal öldürücü T hücre seviyeleri çalışma grubunda kontrol grubuna göre yüksek bulundu.

Objective: To determine the cumulative effects of Mediterranean fever gene polymorphisms and mutations in patients with ?nflammatory bowel diseases. Methods: The case-control study was conducted from January, 2012, to January, 2016,at Cukurova University, Turkey, and comprised patients diagnosed with inflammatory bowel diseases and followed up at the Children Gastroenterology Department. By using molecular methods, 12 Mediterranean fevergene variants most frequently observed in the country were examined in all the diagnosed cases. The results were compared with age-matched healthy population data from the Genetic Diseases Diagnosis and Treatment Centre. Data was analysed using Graph Pad Prism. Results: Of the 151 subjects, 46(30.4%) were cases and 105(69.5%) were controls. Among the cases, there were 23(50%) subjects with a mean age of 14.8±3 years who had ulcerative colitis, and 23(50%) with mean age 14.5±3.2 years who had Crohn’s disease. The mean age of the controls was 16.4±3.2 years (p=0.716). Patients with ulcerative colitishad high frequencies of C allele in D102D T>C variant, G allele in G138G A>G variant, A allele in A165A C>A variant and A allele in R202Q G>A variant. Those with Crohn’s disease frequently had wild type of R202Q G>A variant. Also, D102D T>C / R314R C>T haplotype was common at a certain level in the UC group. Amaç: Juvenil idiyopatik inflamatuvar miyopatiler (JIIM) nadir görülen, kronik kas inflamasyonu ile seyreden, ciddi morbidite, mortalite ile sonuçlanan bir grup otoimmün hastalıktır. Çalışmamızda Cukurova University Tıp Fakültesi Çocuk Romatoloji Bilim Dalı tarafından JIIM tanısı ile izlenen hastaların klinik ve laboratuvar verilerinin, tedavi yanıtlarının değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Eylül 2003 ile Haziran 2017 tarihleri arasında JIIM tanısı ile izlemde olan 15 hasta çalışmaya alındı. Demografik veriler, tanı ve takip laboratuvar verileri, EMG ve kas biyopsi sonuçları, uygulanan tedaviler, tedavi yanıtları ve hastalık komplikasyonları geriye dönük arşiv dosyalarından elde edildi. Bulgular: JIIM hastalarının kız erkek oranı 2.75:1 idi. Hastaların 13 tanesi (%80) Juvenil Dermatomiyozit (JDM), 2 tanesi (%13.3) Juvenil Polimiyozit (JPM) ve bir tanesi (%6.7) Overlap Miyozit (OM) tanısı ile izlemdeydi. Başlangıç bulguları heliotrop raş ve malar raş (%86.7), Gottron papülü (%73.3) ve proksimal kas güçsüzlüğü (%100) idi. Erken dönem kortikosteroid tedavisi tüm hastalara ve metotreksat tedavisi 13 hastaya (%86.7) başlandı. Ayrıca 3 hastaya (%20) siklosporin, bir hastaya (%6.7) siklofosfamid, bir hastaya (%6.7) mikofenolat mofetil ve 4 hastaya (%26.7) intravenöz immunglobulin (IVIg) kullanıldı. Sonuçta tüm hastalar remisyona ulaştı fakat hastalık komplikasyonu olarak 2 hastada kalsinozis, bir hastada lipodistrofi gelişti. Sonuç: JIIM’de erken tanı ve yoğun immünsupresif tedavi hastalık komplikasyonu gelişimini önlemede önemlidir. Bu nedenle uluslararası standart tedavi ve izlem programları hastalık süreci boyunca dikkate alınarak izlem yapılmalıdır.

Aim:Interleukin 10 (IL-10) and interleukin 17 (il-17) cytokine gene polymorphisms were investigated in many autoimmune diseases and there were significant results in some studies but a few published studies on IL-10 and il-17 gene polymorphisms in idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) were seen in the literature. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the IL-10 (-592 A/C) and IL-17 (A126G) gene polymorphisms and their serum levels in adult patients with ITP.Materials and Methods:The IL-10 (-592 A/C) and IL-17 (A126G) gene polymorphisms in 50 patients with ITP and 51 healthy control groups were determined after DNA isolation and serum levels of these cytokines were measured by ELISA method, in 32 patients with ITP in the same group and 32 healthy volunteers.Results:There was no statistically significant difference in IL-10 (-592 A/C) and IL-17 (A126G) gene polymorphisms between the patients and control groups, whereas serum IL-10 levels were found to be statistically significant higher in ITP patients than control group (p=0.003). Serum IL-17 levels were similar in patients and control groups. In addition, age, sex, response to treatment and platelet values at diagnosis were compared between the groups, but there was no statistically significant difference.Conclusion:In our study, IL-10 (-592 A/C) and IL-17 (A126G) gene polymorphisms were not found to be different in patients with ITP compared to healthy subjects, although IL-10 levels were found to be higher in the ITP group than healthy group. When we look the datas in the literature, we thought that more studies with larger series are needed in this field in order to clarify the importance of cytokines in the diagnosis and follow-up of ITP.

Amaç: Nitrik oksit trombosit yapışması ve toplanmasında rol oynayan önemli bir maddedir. Asimetrik dimetilarjinin (ADMA) endotelyal nitrik oksit sentetazın yarışmacı inhibitörüdür ve seviyesi hipokside artar. Bu çalışmada ADMA seviyesin akut pulmoner tromboembolizm tanı ve takibindeki yerini araştırmayı amaçladık.Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma prospektif olarak dizayn edildi. Akut pulmoner tromboembolizmi olan 30 hasta ve 20 sağlıklı gönüllü çalışmaya dahil edildi. Hastalar 1 ay takip edildi. Plazma ADMA seviyesi başvuruda ve 1. ay takipte ölçüldü.Bulgular: Hastaneye başvuru sırasındaki hasta ve kontrol grubunun serum ADMA seviyeleri arasında istatistiksel anlamlı fark vardı. Birinci ay kontrolde rezolüsyonu olan ve olmayan grupların serum ADMA değişimi arasında istatistiksel anlamlı fark bulunmadı. Serum ADMA seviyesi masif olan grupta, submasif ve masif olmayan gruplara göre daha yüksekti. Sonuç: Plazma ADMA seviyesi akut pulmoner tromboembolizmi olan hastalarda yükselir ve ADMA seviyesi trombüs yükü ile koreledir.

Preoxygenation is recommended method for prolonging safe time due to airway concerns before induction of anesthesia. However, debates about the damages of hyperoxemia in intensive care patients and chest diseases have been made for a long time and the issues related to oxygen management have taken place in the guidelines. Our aim was to determine the pathological and biochemical results of preoxygenation with 100% O2, based on the hypothesis that some damagescan be seen, even in the short duration of hyperoxia. Firstly, A container for rat model of preoxygenation was designed. Four and six month old healthy 16 male rats were randomly divided into two groups [Group21 (n=8): 21% O2 and Group100 (n=8): 100% O2]. Groups were sacrificed under the ketamine and xylazine (50 and 5 mg/kg, respectively) at the end of 5 min. Blood, lung, heart, liver, and kidney samples were taken for biochemical tests and histopathological grades of tissue damage. The data were analyzed statistically by Mann-Whitney-U test. This study is significant in terms of the direct toxic effects of preoxygenation with 100% O2 before anesthesia induction. However, there is a need for further studies on the determination of the ideal O2 concentration for preoxygenation in patients.

Introduction: Patients with maxillofacial trauma represent a major group of patients in plastic surgery practice. These traumas are often caused by in-car and noncar road accidents and can result in permanent damages. This study aims at providing an epidemiologic analysis of such cases together with their diagnostic procedures, treatment methods, and postoperative complications. Materials and Methods: A total of 1266 maxillofacial trauma cases that were operated on between 2003 and 2017 were studied, and analyzed for fractured bones, etiology, diagnosis and treatment principles, and complications. Results: The major etiologic factor causing maxillofacial trauma in our study is noncar road accidents (25.5%). Mandible fractures were seen to be the most common type of bone fracture (52.2%). Together with physical examination, computerized tomography and orthopantomography are the diagnostic procedures we effectively use in our clinic. Rigid and semi-rigid fixation with plate and screws are the most frequently used treatment methods, and complication rates are seen to be lower (by 6.6%) than those reported in the literature. Conclusion: Careful and meticulous processes, as well as effective follow-up of the patient are required to achieve optimal esthetic and functional results in maxillofacial trauma cases. Such approach can help to reduce the possibility of complications and allow for their early identification, hence early intervention.

Host cells can recognize cytosolic double-stranded DNAs and endogenous second messengers as cyclic dinucleotides—including c-di-GMP, c-di-AMP, and cGAMP—of invading microbes via the critical and essential innate immune signaling adaptor molecule known as STING. This recognition activates the innate immune system and leads to the production of Type I interferons and proinflammatory cytokines. In this review, we (1) focus on the possible role of bacterial cyclic dinucleotides and the STING/TBK1/IRF3 pathway in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease and the regulation of periodontal immune response, and (2) review and discuss activators and inhibitors of the STING pathway as immune response regulators and their potential utility in the treatment of periodontitis. PubMed/Medline, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched with the terms “STING”, “TBK 1”, “IRF3”, and “cGAS”—alone, or together with “periodontitis”. Current studies produced evidence for using STING-pathway-targeting molecules as part of anticancer therapy, and as vaccine adjuvants against microbial infections; however, the role of the STING/TBK1/IRF3 pathway in periodontal disease pathogenesis is still undiscovered. Understanding the stimulation of the innate immune response by cyclic dinucleotides opens a new approach to host modulation therapies in periodontology.

The eastern Anatolia provides one of the best examples of an area of rapid deformation and intense contraction that is the consequence of an active continental collision between the Arabian and Eurasian plates leading to large and devastating earthquakes. The latest evidence of the active tectonism in the region is revealed by two remarkable seismic events; Van-Tabanli (Mw 7.2, October 23, 2011) and Van-Edremit (Mw 5.6, November 9, 2011) earthquakes. The study of the earthquake cycle and observation of geodetic and seismic deformation in this region is very important to hazard assessments. In this study, the inter-seismic, co-seismic, and post-seismic movements caused by the above-mentioned earthquakes were investigated using the time series of 2300 days of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) observations of the local stations selected from the network of the Continuously Operating Reference Stations, Turkey (CORS-TR). For the inter-seismic period, approximately 1100 daily data were obtained from 21 CORS-TR stations (prior to the earthquakes between October 1, 2008 and October 23, 2011) and evaluated using the GAMIT/GLOBK software. The behaviour of these stations was investigated by processing 1 Hz data from the GNSS stations during the earthquakes on the GAMIT/TRACK software. In addition to October 23 and November 9, the GNSS data on one day before and after the earthquakes was assessed to determine co-seismic deformations. During the October 23 earthquake, hanging-wall deformation of about 60 mm was detected in the SW direction at the MURA station. However, at the VAAN station, deformation of 200 mm (value predicted by time series) was observed in the footwall block in the NW direction. There were not any significant changes at the stations during the November 9 earthquake. For the post-seismic period, the GNSS data from 2012 to 2015 was evaluated. According to the observations, post-seismic deformation continued at the stations close to the epicenter of the earthquake.

Amaç: Bu çalışmadaki amacımız yenidoğan döneminde sağlık bakımı ilişkili enfeksiyon (SBİE) geçiren ve geniş spektrumu antibiyotik kullanan çocuklarda astma, allerjjk rinit ve atopic dermatit sıklığını araştırmaktır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya Yenidoğan Yoğun Bakım Ünitesi’nde 6 yıl içinde izlenen 73 SBİE olan çocuk ile bu çocukların yenidoğan döneminde sağlıklı olan 41 kardeşi alındı. Ebeveynlere detaylı bir anket uygulandı ve çocuklardan tam kan sayımı, serum total Ig Eve spesifik IgE için kan örnekleri alındı. Bulgular: SBİE olan 73 çocuğun 32’sinde (%45.2) ventilator ilişkili pnömoni, 28’inde (%38.4) kan dolaşımı enfeksiyonu, 12’sinde (%16.4) klinik sepsis gözlenmişti. Astma SBİE grubunda belirgin daha fazla (%32.9’a karşın %4.9) iken allerjik rinit (%4.1’e karşın %2.4) ve atopik dermatit sıklığı farklı değildi (%6,8’e karşın %0). Allerjisi olmayan 85 çocuk ile allerjisi olan 29 çocuk kıyaslandığında, yenidoğan döneminde SBİE geçirmek ve antibiyotik kullanmak allerjik olma oranını 11.5 kat arttırmaktaydı. Sonuç: SBİE grubunda astma daha sık gözlenmiş olup, yenidoğan döneminde SBİE geçirmek ve geniş spektrumlu antibiyotik kullanmak erken çocukluk döneminde allerji riskini arttırmaktadır.

The vertical positioning has two indispensable constituents: the height and the relevant reference surface. The definition of the height differs according to the appointed reference surface. Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) ensure ellipsoidal heights relative to a geodetic reference ellipsoid surface. However, many field applications require heights that are related to a physically meaningful surface (e.g. the geoid). Such physically meaningful heights often provided in terms of orthometric heights. The geoid undulation is the relation between the ellipsoidal and orthometric heights. The ellipsoidal heights can be transformed to orthometric heights via two principal approaches: a gravimetric geoid model, and geometrical interpolation between geoid undulations where GNSS observations have been collocated with benchmarks. The purpose of this study is investigating the applicability of a back propagation artificial neural network as a height transformation tool.

The effects of comorbidities on systemic inflammation markers in stable asthmatics and the consequences of such effects have not been well evaluated. We aimed to evaluate the effect of comorbidities on clinical manifestations and systemic inflammation in asthmatic patients under control. The study group consisted of asthmatic patients who applied to our pulmonology outpatient clinic and volunteered to participate. 120 clinically stable asthma patients (71 females and 49 males) and 35 healthy controls (19 females and 16 males) with similar age, gender, and body mass index distributions were admitted to the study. The levels of osteopontin, interleukin 6 (IL-6), interleukin 8 (IL-8), interleukin 13 (IL-13), eosinophilic cationic protein, adiponectin, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein of the individuals were evaluated using commercial ELISA kits by taking venous blood samples. Of 120 asthmatic subjects, 47 (39, 2%) had comorbidities and allergic rhinitis (15%) coexisted most frequently. Other comorbidities associated with asthma were gastroesophageal reflux, sinusitis, hypertension, diabetes, gastritis, and peptic ulcus respectively. There was no physician-diagnosed comorbidity in the control group. The levels of IL-6 and IL-8 were found higher in asthma group with comorbidities when compared to those with no comorbidities (p were 0.032 and 0.046, respectively). Comorbidities interfere with the diagnosis and treatment of asthma, besides affecting the disease control. Our findings suggest the possibility of the impact of comorbidities on systemic inflammation markers, especially IL-6 and IL-8. To evaluate the impact of comorbidities on asthma control and systemic markers, further studies are needed.

Objectives:The aim of the present study was to evaluate demographic and clinical findings of patients who underwent follow-up at the newly established epilepsy outpatient clinic of the Muğla University Faculty of Medicine.Methods:Included were 208 patients who underwent follow-up at the clinic between March 2014 and September 2015.Results:Mean age was 29.42±15.86, with a range of 5–84 years. Eighty-three patients were men (39.9%); 125 were women (60.1%). The most common risk factors included head trauma, febrile convulsion, and family history of epilepsy. Seizures of 155 patients (75.5%) were partialonset, those of 22 (10.6%) were generalized, and those of 9 (4.3%) were unclassified. Sixty-seven patients (37.2%) had normal electroencephalogram, 96 patients (53.3%) had partial, and 10 patients (5.6%) had generalized epileptiform abnormalities. Of the 172 patients (28.5%) to whom antiepileptic drugs had been administered, 49 were resistant to medical treatment. Of the patients with modified therapy, 22 (41.5%) were seizure-free, 7 (13.2%) experienced >50% reduction in seizure frequency, and 8 experienced

Lubricants have a large influence on gearbox power losses. Recent investigations at a gear efficiency test rig have shown the high potential of water-containing gear fluids in drastically reducing load-dependent gear losses and temperatures. In this study, the bearing power losses with water-containing gear fluids were evaluated at a specific bearing power loss test rig explicitly and compared with mineral and polyalphaolefine oils. For all investigated lubricants, a Stribeck curve behavior of the load-dependent losses is observed. The water-containing gear fluids demonstrate lower no-load bearing losses and higher load-dependent bearing losses at higher rotational speeds. The comparison of measured bearing losses with typical calculation procedures showe partially large differences. The results underline the importance of having detailed knowledge of bearing losses when evaluating gear losses in gearboxes.

Ailevi Akdeniz Ateşi (FMF) nükseden ve kendini sınırlayan ateş, peritonit, plörit ve artrit atakları ile karakterize otozomal resesif geçişli polisistemik bir hastalıktır. Nörofibromatozis tip 1 (NF1) hastalığının karakteristik özellikleri arasında café- au lait lekeler, nörofibromlar, aksiller ve inguinal çillenme, Lisch nodülleri, sfenoid displazi gibi kemik lezyonları ve optik gliom yer alır. Bu makalede, FMF ve NF1’li 7 yaşındaki bir kız sunulmuştur. Hastanın bir yıldır, 2-3 ayda bir 2-3 gün süren ateş, karın ve eklem ağrılarına sahipti. Bunun dışında vücudunda café-au lait lekesi ve aksiller çillenme saptadık ve hastaya FMF ve NF1 tanısını koyduk.

Background: White blood cells are reported as important not only in plaque vulnerability but also in thrombus formation and thrombus growth in acute coronary syndromes. Eosinophils contain granules that promote thrombus formation and thrombus growth in some heart diseases. In this study we aimed to investigate the relation of eosinophil count with coronary thrombus formation in patients with non ST-elevated acute coronary syndrome (NST-ACS). Method: A total of 251 consecutive patients were hospitalized in our hospital with a diagnosis of NST-ACS. Venous blood is collected for measurement of hematologic indices in all patients undergoing the coronary angiography. Coronary angiographies were performed in our clinic using the standard Judkins technique and angiographic assessment of the presence of thrombus was made. SUMMARY: Datura stramonium, which is also known as Thorn Apple or Jimson Weed, is an alkaloid containing plant that is entirely toxic. The active toxic constituents of the plant are atropine, scopolamine and hyoscyamine. It has been abused worldwide for hundreds of years because of its hallucinogenic properties. Previous reports have shown that herbal medication overdose and accidental food contamination are ways it can cause poisoning. Herein we present a family that had three of its members poisoned after eating a traditional meal “dolma” made of datura flowers. None had fatal complications and all were discharged healthy. Datura stromonium may be used accidentally as a food ingredient. Since its poisonous effects are not known, people should be informed and warned about the effects of this plant. Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive polysystemic disease characterized by attacks of relapsing and self-limiting fever, peritonitis, pleuritis and arthritis. Caf and eacute;-au lait macules, neurofibromas, axillary and inguinal freckling, Lisch nodules, bone lesions such as sphenoid dysplasia, and optic glioma are the characteristic features of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) disease. In this case report, a 7 year-old girl with NF1 and FMF is presented. She had intermittent fever, abdominal and joint pain attacks lasting 2-3 days every two-three months since 1 year. We detected many cafe-au lait spots and axillary freckles on her body and diagnosed FMF and NF1. [Cukurova Med J 2015; 40(Suppl 1): 75-78]
