A new black seed coat soybean variety, 'Socheong 2' was developed at the National Institute of Crop Science (NICS) in 2006. 'Socheong 2' was selected from the cross between 'Milyang78' and 'Peking'. The preliminary, advanced and regional yield trials for evaluation and selection of this variety were carried out from 2005 to 2009. It has determinate growth habit, white flower, brown pubescence, black pod color, black seed coat, green cotyledon, elongated flattened seed shape, oval leaf shape and small seed size (12.2 grams per 100 seeds). And it has the same maturity as the check cultivar Cheongjakong. 'Socheong 2' has better seed quality than that of the check cultivar in isoflavone contents (2,031 μg/g), and it has good adaptability for 'Cheongkugjiang' and soybean malt. It also has been identified to have resistance to soybean mosaic virus symptom (SMV) which was the troublesome soybean diseases. The average yield of 'Socheong 2' was 2.00 ton per hectare in the regional yield trials carried out in five locations of Korea among seven from 2007 to 2009, which was 7 percent higher than that of the check cultivar 'Cheongjakong'. A new rice variety 'Jungmo1009ho' is a japonica rice (Oryza sativa L.) with lodging tolerance and resistance to rice stripe virus (RSV) and blight bacterial disease (BLB) and good eating quality. It is developed by the rice breeding team of Yeongdeog Substation, National Institute Crop Science, RDA in 2009. This variety was derived from a cross between 'Iksan443' with good grain quality and 'Milyang165' with lodging tolerance conducted in 1999 summer season. A promising line, YR22207- 5-3-1-3, selected by pedigree breeding method was designated as 'Yeongdeog48' in 2006. After the local adaptability test was carried out at nine locations from 2007 to 2009, 'Yeongdeog48' was released as the name of 'Jungmo1009ho' in 2009. 'Jungmo1009ho' is very short culm length as 61cm and medium-late growth duration. This variety is resistant to races, K1, K2, and K3 of bacterial blight and stripe virus and moderately resistant to leaf blast disease with durable resistance, and also has tolerance to unfavorable environment such as cold and dried wind. 'Jungmo1009ho' has translucent and clear milled rice kernel without white core and belly rice, and good eating quality as a result of panel test. The yield potential of 'Jungmo1009ho' in milled rice is about 5.47 MT/ha at ordinary fertilizer level of local adaptability test. Recently, concerns have been voiced about the potentially serious effects on agriculture by the global temperature change and global warming that causes the decreasing yield and grain quality. To cope with this situation, the rice breeding team of Department of Functional Crop, NICS, RDA in 2009 released a new rice cultivar 'Yeonghojinmi' which is resistant to bacterial blight, and rice stripe virus. The anther culture method was employed for the development of this cultivar which is derived from a cross between 'Hitomebore' and 'Junambyeo'. Heading date of 'Yeonghojinmi' is August 21st as mid-late maturing ecotype. In the major agronomic characteristics of 'Yeonghojinmi', number of spikelet/panicle was slightly low while 1,000 grain weight of brown rice was heavy as 22.2 g compared with that of 'Nampyeongbyeo'. The grain appearance was cleared, and palatability and other items were better than those of 'Nampyeongbyeo' in panel test of cooked rice. The milled rice yield of 'Yeonghojinmi' is 5.44 MT/ha, 4.40 MT/ha and 5.04 MT/ha at the ordinary transplanting, double-crop system, and late transplanting of the local adaptability test, respectively. Bacterial pustule (BP) is a leaf disease of soybean that is most common in Korea. Inoculation of 8ra, pathogen strain, to resistant and susceptible cultivars for finding the BP resistance gene (rxp) was much tried but the sequence of the exact gene is not found. This research performed in order to confirm the rxp gene near molecular marker by using the resistant and susceptible cultivars. Soybean BP resistance gene which related to region of near molecular marker could select the resistant cultivar. For the near molecular marker of rxp, reference genomics data available at sequenced Phytozome was used for designing molecular markers. The rxp was mapped between Satt372 and Satt486 on chromosome 17. According to previous study, rxp released in find mapping 7.2 Mbp to 7.3 Mbp on chromosome 17. In this study, we developed 3 random markers near from 6.6 Mbp to 7.3 Mbp on chromosome 17 identified to increase the genetic resolution of the rxp gene region using resistant and susceptible cultivars. Particularly, Rxp17-700 marker was mostly coincided resistance and susceptible genotype to rxp. This result suggests that Rxp17-700 marker will be more tightly linked to rxp gene. A promising line, YR21324-56-1-1, selected by pedigree breeding method, was designated as the name of 'Yeongdeog45' in 2005. After the local adaptability test was carried out at nine locations from 2006 to 2008, 'Yeongdeog45' was released as the name of 'Jinbo' in 2009. 'Jinbo' has short culm length as 74 cm and medium maturating growth duration. This variety is resistant to K1, K2 and K3 races of bacterial blight and stripe virus and moderately resistant to leaf blast disease with durable resistance, and also it has tolerance to unfavorable environments such as cold and dried wind. 'Jinbo' has translucent and clear milled rice kernel without white core and white belly rice, and good eating quality as a result of panel test. The yield potential of 'Jinbo' in milled rice is about 5.65 MT/ha at ordinary fertilizer level in local adaptability test. Soybean seed possesses about 15 allergenic proteins recognized by IgEs from soy-sensitive human. The allergenic impact of soybean proteins limit its extensive usage in a broad range of processed foods. Soybean protein P34 or Gly m Bd 30k of the cysteine protease family is one of the major allergen of the soybean seed. P34-null soybean, PI567476, was identified among soybean (Glycine max & Glycine soja Sieb. and Zucc) of approximately 16,226 accessions from USDA soybean germplasm screened. Also, for P34 gene (Williams 82; whole genome sequence cultivar) and P34 null gene (PI567476) comparative analysis of sequences listed in the NCBI database showed the presence of a SSLP (Simple Sequence Length Polymorphism) of 4 base pair. So, a SSLP marker was designed to reveal the polymorphism of the locus. In this study, a population of 339 F2 recombinant inbred lines generated by cross between Taekwang (Glycine max) and PI567476 was used to select F2:3 plant of a P34 null gene. The result separation rate Taekwang type, heterozygous type and PI567476 type were shown in 85: 187: 67 since single gene is concerned in as the separation rate of 1:2:1 in X2 0.05=5.99, df=2.
