Abstract

A tanulmány célja a nemlexikális, svához hasonló öö hang használatának vizsgálata hétköznapi, magyar nyelvű társalgásokban a konverzációelemzés elméleti keretében. Szekvenciális, ill. fordulóbeli elhelyezkedésüket tekintve az öö előfordulásai jól meghatározható mintázatokat követnek a korpuszban. Az esetek túlnyomó többségében az öö a fordulókonstrukciós egység belsejében jelenik meg, közvetlenül egy tagmondatot bevezető kötőszó után, jóval a váltásreleváns hely előtt. A beszélők továbbá rendszeresen használják hosszabb, ill. ritkán használatos és/vagy idegen szavak előtt, valamint fordulókezdő pozícióban. Az utóbbi előfordulások között kiemelkedő szerepet tölt be az öö párszekvenciák második párrészét bevezető használata. A jelenség funkcióinak vizsgálata az említett pozíciókban azt mutatja, hogy az öö mint technika fontos szerepet játszik a magyar beszélők forduló- és szekvenciaalkotásának folyamatában. A korpusz elemzése arra enged következtetni, hogy a fordulóalkotás tagmondatról tagmondatra történik a magyar nyelvű társalgásokban. Ez rávilágít a szintaxis és a nyelvhasználat, azaz a nyelvtan és a pragmatika közötti interakcióra.

Abstract

A tanulmány különböző adatforrások integrációját vizsgálja a szinkrón és a történeti pragmatika kutatási gyakorlatában. A nyelvhasználat tanulmányozásának e két, meghatározóan korpuszalapú területén készített esettanulmányainkban amellett érvelünk, hogy a hagyományosan korpuszadatoknak tekintett információk valójában integrált adatforrásból származó plauzibilis kijelentések, továbbá hogy a pragmatika kutatási módszerei között a gyakorlatban elmosódnak a határok. A tanulmány konklúziója, hogy még az elsőd­legesen korpuszon alapuló kutatási folyamatokban is számos, különböző forrásból származó információt integrálunk. Következésképpen a korpusz nem tekinthető kizárólagos adatforrásnak, hiszen további forrásokkal egészül ki, úgymint pl. a kutató nyelvi intuíciója, a korábbi kutatások eredményei, a kutatás elméleti kerete és számos következtetés.

7. Effect of Moderately High-Dose Vitamin D3 Supplementation on Mortality in Patients Hospitalized for COVID-19 Infection.

Abstract

Background: Despite a large number of published studies, the effect of vitamin D3 supplementation on mortality in hospitalized patients, as well as the recommended dose and duration of therapy, is unclear. In our retrospective study, we aimed to investigate the impact of vitamin D deficiency and moderately high-dose vitamin D3 supplementation on mortality and disease outcomes in patients with COVID-19 infection. Methods: We analyzed data from 148 COVID-19-infected hospitalized patients in two different departments, Internal Medicine and Oncology, at Semmelweis University. The severity of COVID-19 and the treatment used were the same except at one of the departments, where patients received circa 90,000 IU of vitamin D3. We compared in-hospital mortality rates between the groups. In a subgroup analysis, we evaluated the efficacy and safety of vitamin D3 supplementation by assessing 25(OH)D and 1,25(OH)2D concentrations on days 0, 4, and 8. Results: As a result of the supplementation, the deficiency was resolved in 4 days in deficient patients, and none of the 25(OH)D or 1,25(OH)2D concentrations exceeded the normal range. Mortality was significantly lower and decreased 67% in the group receiving vitamin D3 supplementation, regardless of baseline 25(OH)D concentrations. Conclusions: The supplemental dosage, 3 × 30,000 IU of vitamin D3, is effective and safe and may reduce mortality in COVID-19 infection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In addition to conventional treatments, there is growing interest in preventive and complementary therapies. Proper nutrition can prevent the manifestation of several chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer, and can attenuate the severity of these diseases. Edible mushrooms have been used as nutrition and medicine for thousands of years. The spectrum and quantity of their medicinal compounds made them a widely investigated target both in basic research and clinical trials. The most abundant and medically important components are polysaccharides, terpenoids, phenols, and heterocyclic amines, but bioactive proteins, vitamins, including vitamin D, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and essential minerals are also important ingredients with noteworthy health benefits. Mushroom extracts have anti-diabetic, anti-hyperlipidemic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, cardioprotective, anti-osteoporotic, and anti-tumor effects and are well tolerated, even by cancer patients. In our previous review we detailed the molecular aspects of the development of type 2 diabetes, discussing the role of physical activity and diet, but we did not detail the role of medicinal mushrooms as part of nutrition. In this review, we aimed to summarize the most important medical mushrooms, along with their natural habitats, growing conditions, and components, that are presumably sufficient for the prevention and treatment of insulin resistance. Abstract

The incidence of diabetes, including type 2 diabetes (T2DM), is increasing sharply worldwide. To reverse this, more effective approaches in prevention and treatment are needed. In our review, we sought to summarize normal insulin action and the pathways that primarily influence the development of T2DM. Normal insulin action involves mitogenic and metabolic pathways, as both are important in normal metabolic processes, regeneration, etc. However, through excess energy, both can be hyperactive or attenuated/inactive leading to disturbances in the cellular and systemic regulation with the consequence of cellular stress and systemic inflammation. In this review, we detailed the beneficial molecular changes caused by some important components of nutrition and by exercise, which act in the same molecular targets as the developed drugs, and can revert the damaged pathways. Moreover, these induce entire networks of regulatory mechanisms and proteins to restore unbalanced homeostasis, proving their effectiveness as preventive and complementary therapies. These are the main steps for success in prevention and treatment of developed diseases to rid the body of excess energy, both from stored fats and from overnutrition, while facilitating fat burning with adequate, regular exercise in healthy people, and together with necessary drug treatment as required in patients with insulin resistance and T2DM. 20. Complement MASP-1 Modifies Endothelial Wound Healing.

Abstract

Endothelial wound-healing processes are fundamental for the maintenance and restoration of the circulatory system and are greatly affected by the factors present in the blood. We have previously shown that the complement protein mannan-binding lectin-associated serine protease-1 (MASP-1) induces the proinflammatory activation of endothelial cells and is able to cooperate with other proinflammatory activators. Our aim was to investigate the combined effect of mechanical wounding and MASP-1 on endothelial cells. Transcriptomic analysis showed that MASP-1 alters the expression of wound-healing-related and angiogenesis-related genes. Both wounding and MASP-1 induced Ca2+ mobilization when applied individually. However, MASP-1-induced Ca2+ mobilization was inhibited when the treatment was preceded by wounding. Mechanical wounding promoted CREB phosphorylation, and the presence of MASP-1 enhanced this effect. Wounding induced ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 expression on endothelial cells, and MASP-1 pretreatment further increased VCAM-1 levels. MASP-1 played a role in the subsequent stages of angiogenesis, facilitating the breakdown of the endothelial capillary network on Matrigel®. Our findings extend our general understanding of endothelial wound healing and highlight the importance of complement MASP-1 activation in wound-healing processes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

37. A nemlexikális öö hang mint diskurzusjelölő magyar nyelvű társalgásokban

Abstract

A tanulmány a svához hasonló öö hang beszélőváltásban betöltött lehetséges szerepét vizsgálja magyar nyelvű társalgásokban egy új, konverzációelemzéses-pragmatikai keretben. Kísérletet tesz a jelenség hezitációs és diskurzusszervező funkciójának elkülönítésére, utóbbit az öö-nek a társalgásban elfoglalt strukturális pozícióihoz köti. Induktív kvalitatív elemzéssel az öö valamennyi előfordulását megvizsgálja, és öt jellegzetes szerkezeti pozíciót állapít meg, amelyekben az öö használatával a beszélők befolyásolhatják a beszélőváltás működését, illetve kifejezhetik a beszélőváltás szabályaihoz való attitűdjüket. Ezek a pozíciók lehetnek váltásreleváns helyen és váltásreleváns hely előtt is. Az elemzések azt mutatják, hogy az öö mindhárom beszélőváltási szabály (vö. Sacks et al., 1974) működésekor szerepet kaphat. Azok a diskurzusjelölők, amelyek a megnyilatkozás szintaktikai szerkezetétől függetlenek, lehetnek nemlexikálisak is, és érinthetik a társalgás szekvenciális szerkezetét (Fischer, 2006, p. 9). Ide tartoznak azok a diskurzusjelölők, amelyek a beszélőváltási rendszer szabályozásában vesznek részt. Ez alapján azok az öö-k, amelyek befolyásolják a beszélőváltás működését, illetve a beszélőnek a beszélőváltás szabályaihoz való valamely attitűdjét fejezik ki, tekinthetők diskurzusjelölőnek.
