Although research results so far indicate that personality traits are associated with phubbing, the results of different studies are not always consistent. Therefore, in the current study, we decided to broaden the knowledge and to explore which personality traits are related and explain phubbing in adolescents and whether Internet addiction is a significant mediator of this relationship. The study participants were 430 adolescents aged 13–17, who completed a self-report measurement of personality traits, phubbing/phone obsession and communication disturbance, and Internet addiction. Among the obtained results: (a) phubbing in adolescents was significantly associated with agreeableness and conscientiousness (b) neuroticism was the most significant predictor of phubbing in adolescents, i.e. the higher the neuroticism, the higher the phubbing, (c) significant, mediation of the relationship between personality traits and phubbing through Internet addiction was observed, i.e. the higher the conscientiousness, the lower the Internet addiction and the lower both the phone obsession and communication disturbance. Slavoj Žižek, whose work has been influential in the field of postmodern political philosophy, has drawn on the Lacanian conceptual toolbox to understand the collective Subject–Other relationship. Particularly, Žižek has interpreted the hatred toward the collective Other as hatred toward their enjoyment and ontologized the collective Self-Other relationship as one of hate and hostility. In the present article, I aim to show that the hatred and scapegoating of the Other due to the lost jouissance more accurately characterizes the neurotic subject, particularly the obsessive, rather than the subject who is virtually neurotic (namely, who is incomplete and spit, and its basic mechanism is also repression). This means that the ontological accommodation of scapegoating and the concomitant essentialization of evil applies to the neurotic subject, rather than the subject who is virtually neurotic. Hence, the distinction between the neurotic subject and the virtually neurotic one allows us to challenge Žižek’s theorization of the collective Subject as inherently incriminatory of the Other. Questioning and subverting the ontological accommodation of scapegoating that Žižek’s approach implies is essential for ethico-politicalreasons: once the collective Subject is not taken as inescapably incriminatory of the Other, then high ethico-politicalexpectations can be placed on it. The object of our research is to determine the connection of negative attachment in connection with an individual's personality. We focus on comparing attachment and personality characteristics in psychiatric patients and the general population. The research sample consists of 84 respondents (N84), of which 48 were men and 36 were women, aged 24 to 68 years and the average age of all respondents was 43.42. Within the methods, we chose two questionnaires: The Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised (ECR-R) to measure attachment and The Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised (EPQ-R) to identify personality traits. We observed a statistically significant difference in the type of attachment between the study sample and the comparison group. We did not observe a statistically significant relationship between the neuroticism scale and the anxious/ambivalent type of attachment in the study sample. There was no positive statistically significant relationship between the neuroticism scale and the avoidant type of attachment in the study sample. A significant body of research has demonstrated a negative relationship between neuroticism and relationship satisfaction. Yet, the exact behaviors that link neuroticism to lower relationship satisfaction are not well established. This seven–day daily diary study (N = 246) identified specific, everyday behaviors that might explain how neuroticism and relationship satisfaction are linked. Using exploratory factor analysis, we identified sets of positive (e.g. complimenting your partner) and negative behaviors (e.g. making your partner cry). Then, post-hoc, we ran another exploratory factor analysis to establish a subcategory of conflict tactic behaviors within the negative behavior cluster and a subcategory of emotionally expressive behaviors within the positive behavior cluster. We then examined which of these clusters of behaviors mediate the relationship between neuroticism and relationship satisfaction. The broad category of negative behaviors explained the association; the broad category of positive behaviors did not. The subcategory of conflict tactics mediated the relationship over and beyond the mediational impact of the broader negative behaviors factor. These findings suggest couple therapists might aim to increase relationship satisfaction by working to reduce specific negative behaviors associated with neuroticism. LAY SUMMARY: This study sought to identify specific behaviors that contribute to the association between neuroticism and relationship satisfaction by using a 7-day daily diary study. Background: University students are an at-risk group for alcohol use. Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), the feeling that others are having rewarding experiences that one is missing out on, may drive alcohol use and harm. We aimed to investigate whether FoMO could uniquely predict alcohol use over and above known predictors like the big five personality traits. Methods: We recruited 392 university students and invited them to take part in a daily diary study where they reported their alcohol use daily over 13 days. Participants also completed a baseline survey and reported personality traits (neuroticism, extraversion, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness), and alcohol-related consequences and completed a final follow-up survey where they reported FoMO. Results: Using a zero-inflated negative binomial mixed model, we found that those higher in FoMO consumed more alcohol on drinking days (IRR = 1.11) when controlling for personality traits. Similarly, we found that those higher in FoMO experienced more harms (IRR = 1.10), when controlling personality traits. Conclusion: We found that FoMO is a distinct construct and not just isomorphic with the big five personality traits. This suggests that reducing FoMO may be a key aim for alcohol interventions and should be considered when aiming to reduce university student alcohol use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Personality traits are linked with different oral health outcomes. However, personality traits and their associations among children are not fully understood. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between personality traits and oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) among adolescents in Saudi Arabia. Methods: This cross-sectional study included male and female students aged 12–18 years from different schools in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The participants responded to a self-administered questionnaire after providing informed consent. The questionnaire included demographic information and Arabic versions of the Big Five Personality Inventory and the Child Oral Health Impact Profile-Short Form to evaluate personality traits and OHRQoL, respectively. Bivariate and multivariable analyses were performed. Results: This study included 231 (59.7%) males and 156 (40.3%) females. Regarding personality traits, conscientiousness had the highest mean score (15.31 ± 3.65), followed by agreeableness (14.94 ± 3.96) and openness (14.08 ± 3.98), whereas neuroticism had the lowest mean score (8.86 ± 3.34). Males had significantly higher mean scores for extraversion (14.28 ± 3.30) and conscientiousness (15.69 ± 3.62) compared to females, who had mean scores of 13.02 ± 3.35 and 14.75 ± 3.63, respectively (P < 0.05). Females, on the other hand, scored significantly higher in neuroticism (9.51 ± 3.71) and agreeableness (15.60 ± 3.75) compared to males, who had mean scores of 8.09 ± 2.94 and 14.49 ± 4.04, respectively (P < 0.05). Bivariate analyses showed that neuroticism was negatively correlated with OHRQoL (r = -0.455, P < 0.001), whereas extraversion (r = 0.182, P < 0.001) and conscientiousness (r = 0.110, P = 0.047) were positively correlated with OHRQoL. In multiple linear regression analyses, extraversion (B = 0.696, P = 0.012) and neuroticism (B=-2.229, P < 0.001) were statistically significant predictors of OHRQoL. Conclusion: This study found that neuroticism was significantly and negatively correlated with OHRQoL, whereas extraversion was significantly and positively correlated with OHRQoL. Evidence concerning workplace bullying as a risk factor for mental disorders is currently limited to depressive disorders and mainly based on non-clinical assessments. This study aims to examine the prospective association of self-reported workplace bullying with different types of register-based hospital-diagnosed mental disorders and redeemed psychotropic drug prescriptions. Using a cohort study design, we examined a pooled dataset of 75,252 participants from 14 questionnaire-based surveys conducted between 2004 and 2014. In the questionnaires, workplace bullying was measured by a single item. The questionnaires were linked to Danish registers on hospital-diagnosed mental disorders and redeemed psychotropic drug prescriptions up to 2016. Data were analysed by multivariate Cox proportional hazard models, including only participants without a history of mental disorders or prescriptions since 1995. After adjustment for sex, age, marital and socio-economic status, workplace bullying was associated with an excess risk of any mental disorder (HR 1.37; 95 % CI: 1.17–1.59) as well as mood disorders and neurotic, stress-related, and somatoform disorders. In stratified analyses, this association were statistically significant only among women. Workplace bullying was also associated with any psychotropic drug prescription (fully-adjusted HR 1.43; 95 % CI: 1.35–1.53). This association was observed in both sexes and for all prescriptions, including anxiolytics, hypnotics and sedatives, antidepressants, and nootropics. Firm conclusions about sex-related differences cannot be drawn. Residual confounding by unmeasured factors such as personality cannot be ruled out. Objectives: Personality traits and affective disorders are both related to functional limitations. It is unknown whether personality traits have an additional effect on functioning in older adults with affective disorders. We studied the association between personality traits and functioning within this group. Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study of 180 older patients referred to outpatient specialized geriatric mental health care centers with a depressive, anxiety and/or somatic symptom disorder according to DSM-criteria. We studied the association between the Big Five personality traits and functional limitations assessed with the WHO-DAS II, adjusting for potential confounders, including the severity of various affective disorders. Results: The 180 patients (57.1% female, mean age 69.2 years) had an average WHO-DAS II score of 31.3 (SD 15.1). Lower scores on Conscientiousness were associated with more overall functional limitations (p =.001), particularly limitations in self-care (p =.001) and household activities (p =.001). Lower Extraversion scores were associated with more limitations in getting along with others (p =.001). Conclusions: Personality traits are related to functional limitations independent of the severity of affective disorders in older adults. Purpose: This paper examines how Vladimir Ćepulić at the orthopaedic department of the Red Cross Hospital in Zagreb described, understood and treated hysterical motility disorders between 1915 and 1917. Methods: We analysed Ćepulić's article from 1919 on 107 cases of motility disorders among World War I veterans. Our analysis involved a formal examination of historical records, articles, and contemporary literature on conversion disorders, as well as a contextual analysis of Ćepulić's work. Results: Ćepulić's report is a rare record of patients with conversion disorder treated within an orthopaedic department during the First World War. It provides detailed descriptions and documentation including photographs. By subscribing to the hysterical aetiology of this disorder, Croatian orthopaedists employed a diverse range of treatments, such as hypnosis, suggestion, electricity, anaesthesia and surgery. Conclusion: We have demonstrated that a significant number of patients with motility disorders of psychogenic origin were treated at the orthopaedic department of the Red Cross Hospital in Zagreb. The detailed descriptions left by our predecessors can be used to trace the epidemiology and evolution of these disorders over time, including complex conditions like conversion disorder. Objectives: Changes in personality and behavioral symptoms are a core clinical criterion for the diagnosis of dementia. This study examines the association between caregiver-rated personality traits and multiple measures of neuropsychiatric symptoms. Method: Caregivers of individuals with dementia (N = 191) or cancer (N = 137) provided premorbid and concurrent personality trait ratings using the Big Five Inventory-2. Caregivers also completed the Mild Behavioral Impairment Checklist, Neuropsychiatric Inventory Questionnaire, and Revised Memory and Behavior Problems Checklist. Results: In the combined sample, high concurrent neuroticism was associated with emotional dysregulation (r = 0.51), low agreeableness with impulse dyscontrol (r=-0.40), and low conscientiousness with decreased motivation (r=-0.42). Associations were similar across neuropsychiatric symptom scales, similar across cancer and dementia, but stronger with concurrent than premorbid personality ratings, and stronger for the individuals with mild than moderate-severe dementia. Conclusion: Personality was associated with neuropsychiatric symptoms, including with the measure for mild behavioral impairment. Personality had stronger associations when concurrently assessed, indicating that personality traits co-develop with neuropsychiatric symptoms. The associations were similar across cancer and dementia, suggesting transdiagnostic processes not limited to dementia. Neuropsychiatric symptoms are partly an expression of personality; accounting for personality traits could help with diagnosis and disease monitoring, tailoring interventions, and fostering person-centered care. The psychological characteristics that new recruits bring when starting military basic training (MBT) may help or hinder successful completion rates. The first part of this study explores how psychological characteristics assessed at the start of MBT influence retention and performance outcomes upon completion. At the start and upon completing MBT, a sample of 204 UK male Infantry recruits undergoing a 26-week Combat Infantryman's Course were assessed on personality traits (psychoticism, neuroticism, and extroversion); a set of relevant cognitions (i.e. effortful control); motivation (i.e. internalization of military core values); and an assessment of mentally tough behavior. Recruits who successfully completed MBT were significantly higher in age, psychoticism, and mentally tough behavior. The second part of the study explored how MBT influenced these variables across time. A subsample of 132 male Infantry recruits that passed basic military training first time were analyzed. Across the 26-week course, there was a significant increase in extraversion, and a significant decrease in neuroticism, and external regulation. Results differed slightly when we removed the lowest passing group from the analysis and whether MANOVA or Logistic Regression analysis was used. Introduction and purpose: Anxiety is a term with primarily psychological meaning, describing a broadly defined, indefinite emotional state characterized by the experience of uncertainty, apprehension, fear and annoyance. Anxiety is a feature of many common diseases as well as mental disorders. It is a non-specific and common symptom in medicine occurring as a trait in personality structure, psychotic anxiety or a condition in psychosomatics. Due to the variety of clinical symptoms accompanying anxiety disorders, they should not be considered as a whole, as this group is not homogeneous and each individual differs in significant ways from the others. The following work aims to present the types of anxiety that occur, analyze their characteristics, and apply knowledge from psychology, neuroscience and psychiatry in understanding and treating these disorders. Description of the state knowledge: A review of the reviewed literature indicates the significant benefits of combining appropriately selected pharmacotherapy and concurrent psychotherapy in patients struggling with anxiety disorders. Summary: Anxiety disorders are the most common group of mental disorders that usually begin just before or in early adulthood. Although anxiety disorders are defined as the presence of extreme fear and anxiety, they encompass a range of different disease entities. The new ICD-11 International Classification of Diseases in the field of psychiatry has proposed moving away from defining a group of these disorders as "neurotic disorders" and replacing it with the less stigmatizing term "anxiety disorders" containing seven specific subgroups of disorders. ObjectivesMethodsResultsConclusionsSleep disturbance is commonly reported by people with anxiety, depressive, and personality disorders, but longitudinal studies exploring the interplay of the three with disturbed sleep have not previously been described.In this study, sleep disturbance was examined among 89 patients initially presenting with anxiety or depressive disorders who provided follow-up at 12- and 30-year time points in the Nottingham Study of Neurotic Disorder. Multilevel models were used to identify factors most predictive of changes in sleep quality over time.There were strong associations between poor sleep and contemporaneous severity of personality disorder and the presence of other mental disorders at 12 and 30 years follow-up, but not with disorder presence at other time points. Improvements in personality disorder were associated with improvements in sleep between time points and attenuated the positive unadjusted effects of recovery from anxiety or depressive disorders to non-significance. Relapse into further episodes of mental disorder predicted poorer sleep, whereas worsening personality disorder was not predictive of significant changes when adjusting for other factors.This study demonstrates the complex interplay between anxiety, depressive, and personality disorders and sleep disturbance over a long follow-up period. Future research might look to examine the relationship between personality disorder and disturbed sleep with interventional studies and by integrating personality trait research. This essay facilitates a critical dialogue between Freud's early "cathartic method" and Fanon's notion of a "neurotic situation." Although Fanon does not explicitly develop this concept as a counterpoint to the Freudian understanding of neurosis, we can nevertheless glean from his work a robust understanding of the kind of psycho-political suffering it designates. To be in a "neurotic situation," I argue, is to experience neurotic symptoms that are idiosyncratic to oneself and yet also a reflection of social and political structures of oppression that affect all members of an oppressed group. It is a situation that contains both idiosyncratic psychic disturbance and non-idiosyncratic political truth. As such, addressing a neurotic situation requires overcoming the strict separation between therapy and consciousness-raising that some activists espouse. Specifically, in a neurotic situation, therapy and emancipatory consciousness-raising come to shape and condition each other's objectives: an emancipatory consciousness becomes a condition for the therapeutic alleviation of neurotic symptoms, and therapeutic relief for neurotic symptoms becomes part of what it is like to attain an emancipatory consciousness in a neurotic situation. This study examined whether reductions in the severity of personality disorders (PD) mainly reflect changes in personality traits or rather an alleviation of a demoralized state involving nonspecific unpleasant affect. We used 4 years of longitudinal data from the Collaborative Longitudinal Personality Disorders Study, in which patients (N = 419) completed the Neuroticism–Extraversion–Openness Personality Inventory–Revised (NEO-PI-R) three times over 4 years (at baseline and at 6-month and 4-year follow-up assessments). We compared the NEO Demoralization scale with NEO-PI-R domain scales adjusted for demoralization-related items to determine whether changes in demoralization are more pronounced than changes in adjusted personality traits. Results showed that adjusted Neuroticism and Demoralization changed at similar rates and both changed more than other traits. These changes were most pronounced in the first 6 months and tapered thereafter. Rank-order correlations were somewhat lower for Demoralization than adjusted traits. Our findings suggest that decreases in PD symptoms over time have to do with reductions in negative affect and that Demoralization as assessed via a subset of NEO-PI-R items is limited in its ability to distinguish negative affect from trait Neuroticism. Public Significance Statement: It is helpful in clinical assessment to distinguish between demoralization that the client is currently experiencing and may elevate clinical scale scores and more enduring issues that reflect the risk for clinical problems. In this study, we tested one promising approach to distinguishing these factors in a clinical sample. The individual's mental health crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic lead to mental disorders. The transmission of the COVID-19 virus is associated with the levels of anxiety, stress, and depression in individuals, similar to other factors. Increases in mental illness cases and the prevalence of depression have peaked after the pandemic struck. The limited social intervention, reduced communication, peer support, and increased social isolation during the pandemic resulted in higher levels of depression, stress, and anxiety which leads to mental illness. Physiological distress is associated with the mental disorders, and its negative impact can be improved mainly by early detection and treatment. Early identification of mental illness is crucial for timely intervention to decelerate disorder severity and lessen individual health burdens. Laboratory tests for diagnosing mental illness depend on the self-reports of one's mental status, but it is labor intensive and time consuming. Traditional methods like linear or nonlinear regression cannot include many explanatory variables as they are prone to overfitting. The main challenge of the state-of-the-art models is the poor performance in detecting mental illnesses at early stages. Deep learning models can handle numerous variables. The current study focuses on demographic background, Kessler Psychological Distress, Happiness, and Health determinants of mental health during the pandemic to predict the mental health. This study's prediction can help rapid diagnosis and treatment and promote overall public mental health. Despite potential response bias, these proportions are exceptionally elevated, and it's plausible that certain individuals face an even higher level of risk. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, an investigation into mental health patients revealed a disproportionate representation of children and individuals with neurotic disorders among those articulating substantial or severe apprehensions. Paramedics play a pivotal role in delivering emergency medical care, contributing to excellence in the prehospital environment and ensuring a seamless continuum of healthcare. Achieving this objective is subject to various factors. This review aims to explore, the relationship between paramedic personality profiles and key factors including stress, burnout and employment retention or attrition. The JBI approach was used to perform a scoping review. Key words including paramedic* , ambulance* , personalit* , retention OR attrition and burnout OR stress were inserted into the search engines OVID, CINAHL Plus, Scopus, Web of Science Core Collection, Psychology ProQuest, and Nursing ProQuest. Titles and abstracts of 226 results were screened and inclusion and exclusion criteria applied. Full texts of the remaining 18 results were screened to inform the results. Three themes emerged relevant to the objective including the correlation of neuroticism with stress and burnout, personality types and mental illness with the ability to cope during stressful situations and finally resilience and burnout with the intention to quit. Further research should be completed into specific personality characteristics, including neuroticism, perfectionism, and excitability to facilitate the development of strategies aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of paramedics and EMT workers internationally. BACKGROUND: Disasters such as the COVID-19 pandemic have serious traumatic effects on people, who may experience sleep problems, anxiety, and fear in the face of such a stressor. OBJECTIVE: This study is conducted to examine the relationship between sleep quality and fear of COVID-19, anxiety, and personality traits in working women. METHOD: This research was a descriptive study between June to August 2021. The study was conducted with 425 participants. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, COVID-19 Fear Scale, Beck Anxiety Scale, and the revised Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Short Form were applied to the participants. T-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation analysis, were used. RESULTS: In the study, it was found that the total average score of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale was 18.83±5.5, while the score of sleep quality was 5.40±3.3 and the anxiety score was 14.01±12.4. On the other hand, the score of Extraversion was determined as 3.73±1.7, Neuroticism was 3.79±1.8, and Psychoticism was 1.97±1 in the study. Moreover, a statistically significant positive correlation was found between sleep quality and fear of COVID-19, anxiety, and neuroticism in working women (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep disturbance; daytime dysfunction, use of sleep medication, sleep duration, sleep latency with anxiety; sleep latency, sleep quality, daytime dysfunction, sleep duration were found to be linked to neuroticism, and use of sleep medication and sleep duration were found to be linked to psychoticism. This article aims to propose elements to understand the role of corporeality in the transference phenomenon based on the articulation between psychoanalytic listening and two ideas from Merleau-Ponty's philosophy: the concepts of body schema and intercorporeality. The transference relationship is revisited through the lens of Merleau- Ponty's thesis that our relationships with others are based on a corporeal, unconscious, and libidinal infrastructure. This study tested whether sexual orientation differences in depressive symptoms were partially explained by the chain mediation effect of neuroticism and victimization. Using the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children from the UK (N = 4647, 36.52% men, 88% White), self-reported neuroticism, sexual orientation, and depressive symptoms were measured at age 13.5, 21, and 22 years, respectively. Childhood abuse between birth and age 11 years and the individuals' experiences of being bullied at age 17.5 years were measured as the components of victimization. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. Non-heterosexual individuals reported higher depressive symptoms than heterosexual individuals, with a total effect (standardized path coefficient) of 0.590 and 0.768 for men and women, respectively. This association was partially explained by childhood abuse (indirect effect = 0.043 and 0.046 for men and women, respectively) and neuroticism directly (indirect effect = 0.036 and 0.056 for men and women, respectively). Sexual orientation differences in depressive symptoms were also partially explained by a path through increased risk of experiencing childhood abuse leading to higher levels of neuroticism (indirect effect = 0.004 and 0.009 for men and women, respectively) and by a path through higher levels of neuroticism leading to increased risk of being bullied (indirect effect = 0.004 and 0.002 for men and women, respectively). The findings suggest that while some of the association between sexual orientation and depression might be explained by neuroticism and experiences of victimization measured prospectively, these factors do not account for most of this relationship. Objective: We employed latent profile analysis (LPA) to discern configurations of executive functioning (EF) and neuroticism (NE) and tested their concurrent validity with respect to internalizing and externalizing problems and physical health. Participants: A total of 125 college students completed the study. Methods: Participants self-reported NE and EF on separate normed rating scales and completed computerized tests of EF. Self-reported internalizing problems, externalizing problems, and global physical health were collected. Results: LPA revealed four profiles: (1) Lower EF + Higher NE, (2) Higher EF + Lower NE, (3) Inconsistent EF + Higher NE, and (4) Inconsistent EF + Lower NE. Adjusting for covariates, profiles were differentially associated with internalizing problems, externalizing problems, and physical health. Conclusions: Screening EF and NE in college students may identify those at risk for psychopathology and physical health concerns. Throughout history, menopause has alternatively been framed as either a sin, a type of neurosis, a disease, or a deficiency. Only recently, it has been re-framed under a more positive light as a new beginning, a journey of self-discovery, or a sort of internal zest. Each of these metaphorical conceptualizations of menopause reflects a particular ideology stemming from religious, biomedical, and feminist viewpoints, among others. Women’s talk about menopause, however, has been historically scarce, hidden and silenced by the social taboo surrounding this matter. This has changed in the past few decades, with women openly talking about their menopausal experiences in the media. Adopting a Critical Metaphor Analysis framework, this study investigates contemporary women’s conceptualization of menopause as reflected on the metaphors they use to talk about it. Studies on the metaphors of menopause are scarce and often carried out from a biomedical or sociological (feminist) perspective, the two contexts in which most talk about menopause has traditionally taken place. We analyze a collection of 300 metaphorical expressions stemming from a multi-source corpus of women’s testimonials about their experience, feelings, and thoughts about menopause. The qualitative analysis of the data offers a finegrained portrayal of the metaphorical frames that underlie the discourse of contemporary women about menopause. In recent decades, there has been a significant increase in internet use. The excessive and pathological use of this technology, conceptualised as problematic use of the internet, has become a global public health problem due to the various negative effects associated with it. The present work is an updated three-level meta-analysis of the relationship between Big Five personality traits and the problematic use of the internet. A systematic search was performed in PsycINFO, Web of Science, Scopus, ERIC, ProQuest Dissertation & Theses Global and PubMed. The risk of publication bias was evaluated using funnel plots and Egger's test. Extraversion (r = −.10, IC 95% [−.14, −.06]), openness (r = −.10, IC 95% [−.14, −.06]), agreeableness (r = −.19, IC 95% [−.22, −.15]) and conscientiousness (r = −.27, IC 95% [−.30, −.24]) were significantly negatively correlated with the problematic use of the internet, while neuroticism (r =.26, IC 95% [.22,.30]) was positively correlated. Aim: Although neuroticism has a negative impact on burnout among healthcare workers, there is little research exploring the specific interactions between different components of burnout and neuroticism. This study aims to investigate this relationship among nurses in Emergency Departments (ED) through network analysis method (NAM). Design: A cross‐sectional investigative survey was conducted. Methods: A total of 408 Chinese nurses were recruited from ED of five hospitals in 2023 through Questionnaire Star. Components of burnout were measured by the 15‐item Maslach Burnout Inventory‐General Survey (MBI‐GS), while components of neuroticism were measured by a subscale of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire‐Revised, Short Scale for Chinese (EPQ‐RSC) questionnaire. NAM was applied to build relationship between components of burnout and neuroticism and identify the bridge expected influence (BEI). Results: Within burnout‐neuroticism network, the relations between the components of burnout and neuroticism were mainly positive. Nt5 ('Anxious')‐EE1 ('Exhausted'; weight = 0.281) and Nt5 ('Anxious')‐EE5 ('Breakdown'; weight = 0.280) had stronger connections. Among the neuroticism, Nt5 ('Anxious') showed the strongest positive BEI, while Nt12 ('Guilty') showed the strongest negative BEI. Feeling anxiety and less guilt conscience in neuroticism were the critical factors to impact burnout of nurses in ED. The descriptive-analytical research deals with representation of existential frustration results of Logotherapy focused on Victor Frank's point of view relying on The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, a contemporary English writer. Using scientific theories such as parallel universe, this novel narrates the transition from existential frustration to the "will to meaning" in life. Clearly, in order to create a new study of this novel on elements of Logotherapy, the current research attempts to deal with existential frustration and "Noögenic Neuroses" of the protagonist of the novel, Nora Seed who decides to die due to the situational depression, anxiety and lack of resilience against the unavoidable suffering of life. In the infinite lives of which she had only experienced a part of them, the perception of everyone's life is like a white paper and everyone is the creator of infinite lives and gives meaning to his/her life. Purpose: Postpartum depression (PPD) brings adverse and serious consequences to both new parents and newborns. Neuroticism affects PPD, which remains controversial for confounding factors and reverse causality in cross-sectional research. Therefore, mendelian randomization (MR) study has been adopted to investigate their causal relationship. Methods: This study utilized large-scale genome-wide association study genetic pooled data from three major databases: the United Kingdom Biobank, the European Bioinformatics Institute, and the FinnGen databases. The causal analysis methods used inverse variance weighting (IVW). The weighted median, MR-Egger method, MR-PRESSO test, and the leave-one-out sensitivity test have been used to examine the results' robustness, heterogeneity, and horizontal pleiotropy. The fixed effect model yielded the results of meta-analysis. Results: In the IVW model, a meta-analysis of the MR study showed that neuroticism increased the risk of PPD (OR, 1.17; 95% CI, 1.11–1.25, p < 0.01). Reverse analysis showed that PPD could not genetically predict neuroticism. There was no significant heterogeneity or horizontal pleiotropy bias in this result. Conclusion: Our study suggests neuroticism is the risk factor for PPD from a gene perspective and PPD is not the risk factor for neuroticism. Objective: The aim was to investigate psychological risk profiles of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Depression and anxiety have been linked to CVD, but research has not incorporated personality and sex-specific analyses are warranted. In this study, we examine the role of sex, neuroticism, extraversion, anxiety and depression on the risk of CVD. Method: Using data from the HUNT-study and the mortality register, 32,383 (57.10% men) participants were followed for an average of 10.48 years. During this time, 142 died of myocardial infarction (MI) and 111 of stroke. Results: Cox regression showed that depression (HR = 1.07, 95% CI = [1.00, 1.14]) and neuroticism (1.23 [1.08, 1.40]) were significantly related to an increased risk of MI. One standard unit increase in depression and neuroticism was associated with 1.22 [CI 1.01, 1.47] increase and 1.43 [CI 1.14, 0.78] increase in the risk of MI respectively. For stroke, there was no significant effect of anxiety, depression or personality. However, we found a significant interaction effect between sex and extraversion where higher extraversion was associated with greater risk of stroke for women only. Conclusions: Both neuroticism and depression were related to MI. We observed an interaction between extraversion and sex with stroke, but the effect size was small. Rationale: Family members of patients who die in an intensive care unit (ICU) are at heightened risk of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms. Not all surrogates develop these symptoms and heterogeneity exists in PTSD symptom clusters. Objectives: The study tested a personality model of PTSD symptoms in bereaved family caregivers of ICU patients. It was hypothesized that family members endorsing higher levels of neurotic personality traits would report higher levels of PTSD symptom clusters and that these associations would be explained by tendencies to view the patient's death as unexpected and to cope by suppressing their emotions. Methods: Participants were family members of ICU patients at an urban, academic medical center who either died or were discharged to an inpatient hospice unit. Participants were contacted for participation at least six months after the patient's death. Participants completed measures of personality, emotion regulation, and PTSD symptoms. Data were analyzed using path analysis. Results: Approximately one-third (35%) of the sample of 162 caregivers endorsed at-risk levels of PTSD. Individuals reporting higher levels of neurotic personality traits reported more PTSD symptoms (r = 0.53, p < 0.001). Perceptions that the patient death was unexpected partially explained the association of neuroticism with the intrusive re-experiencing PTSD symptoms (B = 0.45, p = 0.031). In contrast, emotional suppression partially explained the association of neuroticism with avoidance (B = 0.70, p = 0.010) and hyperarousal symptom clusters (B = 0.37, p = 0.041). Conclusions: Family vulnerability to PTSD after an ICU death can be conceptualized based on neurotic personality traits. Tendencies to view the patient's death as unexpected may contribute to intrusive thoughts and memories of the ICU experience. Individuals may avoid reminders and remain at heightened levels of arousal when they suppress their emotional experiences. Key Message: Family members who experience the death of a loved one following ICU treatment are vulnerable to PTSD symptoms. These reactions to ICU-related losses may be shaped by family members' personalities, expectations, and emotion regulation styles. The present longitudinal study investigates the development of both positive and negative personal traits (i.e., self-esteem and neuroticism, respectively) among newlywed couples. The aim is to identify distinct joint trajectories of self-esteem and neuroticism and then compare marital quality across different trajectory classes. A sample of 268 Chinese newlyweds completed self-esteem, neuroticism, and marital quality questionnaires at three time points. Dyadic Latent Class Growth Analyses were used to examine the joint trajectory of self-esteem and neuroticism. The study identified three trajectory groups: the adaptive couples group (c1), the stable couples and husbands more adaptive than wives group (c2), and the stable husbands and wives more adaptive than husbands group (c3). The adaptive couples group had the highest level of initial marital quality. The two other groups, characterized by initial differences between partners in self-esteem and neuroticism, had relatively lower baseline marital quality. In comparison, wives in the c3 group initially displayed higher levels of marital quality than those in the c2 group. This research improves our understanding of personal development in couples and sheds light on the complex associations between personal and relational development in the context of marriage. This study addresses a gap in the literature by exploring the longitudinal effects of hassles in mediating the relationship between neuroticism and the tripartite model of depression and anxiety. The research investigates these associations in a large sample of university students, utilising baseline and 6‐month follow‐up data. Initial assessments involved participants completing measures for neuroticism, depression and anxiety symptoms, and the occurrence of stress, followed by monthly assessments of stress, anxiety symptom and mood symptoms over a 6‐month period. Our results illuminate the mediating role of daily hassles in the relationship between neuroticism and various dimensions of anxiety and depression, including general distress, specific depression, and anxiety symptoms. These findings underscore the significant impact of neuroticism and hassles on a broad spectrum of mood symptoms, offering valuable insights for both research and clinical practice. Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to examine the physiological activity in patients and psychotherapists during psychodynamic psychotherapy in relation to: gender, presence of personality disorder traits and anxiety symptoms. Subject or material and methods: Physiological data of 24 patients with a diagnosis of neurotic disorders and/or personality disorders were analysed. Psychotherapy was conducted by two psychotherapists. Most patients had an anxiety disorder or a specific personality disorder. Physiological data were collected using a galvanometer and a pulsometer. Results: The physiological activity of the psychotherapists differed, probably due to their professional experience. The physiological activity of the patients differed due to the psychotherapist providing therapy, gender, personality traits, and level of neurotic symptoms. Discussion: Differences in the physiological parameters of psychotherapists could be related to individual differences between them: gender, age, education, and length of professional experience. Length of the experience and gender of therapists could have influenced patients' physiological reactions. Patients' dominant symptoms could be related to the intensity of their physiological reactions. Due to the significant and interesting results of the study it would be worth repeating it on a larger number of patients and psychotherapists. Conclusions: The physiological state of the psychotherapists correlate with the physiological reactions of the patients. Worldwide, the mortality due to SARS-CoV-2 has been inclined to around 68 million by the end of January 2023. Many people lost their family members due to the virus attack or its comorbid complications. Mourning the loss of a loved one is a painful time, but the ability to handle this stress may vary from person to person. It could be a result of their personality traits and inner capabilities, such as self-efficacy. This study aimed to understand the role of personality traits and self-efficacy on the resilience of bereaved individuals. Convenience sampling was employed to recruit a total of 237 participants who had lost loved ones to COVID-19 (father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, uncle, aunt, and distant relatives). After explaining the objective of the study and taking informed consent, they were administered using brief resilience scale, a big five personality inventory, and general self-efficacy questionnaire. Self-efficacy and resilience were found to have a positive correlation, while neuroticism and resilience had a negative correlation. In addition, the mediation analysis revealed that self-efficacy acted as an important mediator between personality traits (Openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism) and resilience. Individuals with strong self-efficacy were able to return to their usual state more quickly than those with low self-efficacy, as indicated by the results. However, attributes such as openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness, together with self-efficacy, might enhance resilience. Exposure to human evil, referring to malevolent deeds that deliberately inflict suffering or death, can be psychologically traumatic. This study examined self-perceived evil-related threats within the conception of hostile-world scenario (HWS) that signifies one's mental representation of major threats in life. The study explored whether evil-related threats, along with HWS, differentiated Holocaust survivors from comparisons, and how these concepts related to mental health. Participants were Israelis aged 58–93, including 220 Holocaust survivors and 205 non-Holocaust survivors. Participants completed measures of mental health (neuroticism, positive and negative affect, life satisfaction, depressive symptoms) and HWS. Evil-related threats were assessed by a 7-item Evil Scale separated from the HWS Questionnaire. Evil-related threats contained two factors, fear of human violence and interpersonal distrust, and correlated with lower mental health. With age and gender controlled, Holocaust survivors were higher than comparisons on evil-related threats and negative engagement with HWS. Beyond associations of HWS (in its negative and positive engagement modes) with mental health, evil-related threats related to higher depressive symptoms among survivors. Results suggest that early traumatic experiences related to perceived threats in later life. Evil-related threats complemented the HWS in associating with mental health. Previous evidence on heatwaves' impact on mental health outpatient visits is limited, especially uncertainty on how different heatwave definitions affect this relationship. In this time‐series study, we assessed the association between heatwaves and outpatient visits for mental disorders in Guangzhou, China. Daily outpatient visits for mental disorders and its specific categories (schizophrenia, mood, and neurotic disorders) were sourced from the Urban Resident‐based Basic Medical Insurance (URBMI) and the Urban Employee‐based Basic Medical Insurance (UEBMI) claims databases in Guangzhou from 2010 to 2014. The study employed nine heatwave definitions, based on combinations of three daily mean temperature thresholds (90th, 92.5th, and 95th percentiles) and durations (2, 3, and 4 days). Using quasi‐Poisson generalized linear models (GLMs), we estimated the risks (at lag 0 day) and cumulative effects (lag 0–10 days) of heatwaves on mental disorder outpatient visits. Age, gender, types of medical insurance were considered as potential effect modifiers. We observed a positive association between heatwaves and increased total outpatient visits for mental disorders, both at lag 0 day and during lag 0–10 days. The impact of heatwave was significant at lag 0 day for schizophrenia, mood and neurotic disorders visits, it remained significant for neurotic and mood disorders visits during lag 0–10 days. Heatwave durations lasting more than 4 days were associated with higher relative risks of mental disorders at lag 0 day. Older adults had relatively higher effect estimations than younger individuals. This research highlights the effects of extreme heat on mental health. Background: Codependence is a form of relationship addiction, described as a "disease of lost selfhood." Codependence among primary caregivers adversely impacts treatment outcomes in Alcohol Dependence Syndrome (ADS) patients. Personality traits of the caregiver may also influence codependency and its severity. However, in routine clinical practice, codependence among primary caregivers of alcoholic patients is not assessed and addressed. This study aimed to identify codependence among caregivers of ADS patients and determine its association with personality traits in various subgroups. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in a private mental health establishment in urban Karnataka, India, among 125 adult primary caregivers of ADS patients who were spending at least 4 h daily with the patient for more than a year. Spann-Fischer codependence scale and Big Five personality inventory were used to assess codependence and personality domains, respectively. Codependence scores were correlated with Big Five personality scores and examined in various subgroups. Results: Among 125 study participants, 103 (82.4%) were female and 81 (64.8%) were spouse of ADS patients. Moderate and high codependency was found in 86 (68.8%) and 38 (30.4%) participants, respectively. Codependence was found to be significantly higher among females (64.5 ± 7.7) than males (57.6 ± 10.9), (t = −2.8, df = 25.6, P = 0.000), independent of the type of relationship with the patient. There was a significant positive correlation with neuroticism personality trait. Sociocultural and economic conditions of the caregiver also contributed to codependence. Conclusions: The study identified the presence of moderate-to-severe codependence, especially among female caregivers of ADS patients. Background: Vulvodynia impacts up to 8% of women by age 40, and these women may have a more compromised immune system than women with no vulvar pain history. Aim: Given that psychiatric morbidity is associated with vulvodynia and is known to activate immune inflammatory pathways in the brain and systemically, we sought to determine whether the association between psychiatric morbidity and vulvar pain was independent of or dependent upon the presence of immune-related conditions. Methods: Women born in Sweden between 1973 and 1996 with localized provoked vulvodynia (N76.3) and/or vaginismus (N94.2 or F52.5) diagnosed between 2001 and 2018 were matched to two women from the same birth year with no vulvar pain. International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-9 or -10 codes) were used to identify women with a history of depression, anxiety, attempted suicide, neurotic disorders, stress-related disorders, behavioral syndromes, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, or chemical dependencies, as well as a spectrum of immune-related conditions. The Swedish National Prescribed Drug Register was used to identify women with filled prescriptions of antidepressants or anxiolytics. Outcomes: Vulvodynia, vaginismus, or both were outcomes assessed in relation to psychiatric morbidity. Results: Women with vulvodynia, vaginismus, or both, relative to those without vulvar pain, had adjusted odds ratios between 1.4 and 2.3, with CIs highly compatible with harmful effects. When we assessed women with and those without a lifetime history of immune-related conditions separately, we also observed elevated odds ratios in both groups for mood, anxiety, and neurotic and stress disorders. Clinical implications: Documenting psychiatric impairment as a cause or consequence of vulvodynia is critical in clinical practice because psychiatric conditions may impact treatment efficacy. Strengths and Limitations: Strengths of this study include a data source that represents the entire population of women in Sweden that is known to be highly accurate because Sweden provides universal healthcare. Limitations include difficulty in making an accurate assessment of temporality between psychiatric morbidity and the first onset of vulvar pain. In addition, because Swedish registry data have limited information on lifestyle, behavioral, and anthropomorphic factors such as smoking, diet, physical activity, and obesity, these conditions could not be assessed as confounders of psychiatric morbidity and vulvar pain. The main aim of this study was to analyse associations between the five‐factor model personality traits and locus of control of successes and failures based on the theory of social learning and to assess whether gender moderated relationships between these variables in Polish early adolescents. The following instruments were used: the Picture Based Personality Survey for Children and the Locus of Control Questionnaire. A total of 1016 students participated in the study, including 49% boys and 51% girls. Both for girls and boys, the highest correlations were found between conscientiousness and locus of control in success situations. Neuroticism correlated negatively with the two types of locus of control. We integrate insights from attachment theory and relational leadership to develop a novel interpersonal explanation of why, how and when followers' attachment anxiety and avoidance impact performance. Drawing on the attachment system dynamics model, we posit that attachment avoidance will be negatively related to LMX quality, whereas attachment anxiety will be positively related to LMX ambivalence. Furthermore, we predict that followers' anxious (and avoidant) attachment styles will interact with leader neuroticism leading to a hyperactivation (deactivation) of the attachment system, manifesting in greater LMX ambivalence (and lower LMX quality). Across three studies, we found consistent evidence for a positive relationship between follower attachment anxiety and LMX ambivalence, as well as an indirect effect between attachment anxiety and job performance. Leader neuroticism was especially likely to induce LMX ambivalence and, in turn, undermine job performance in anxiously attached followers. Attachment avoidance, although unaffected by leader neuroticism, was negatively related to LMX quality across all three studies and demonstrated an indirect effect on job performance in Study 3. Overall, our findings shed light on the unique explanatory power of relational mechanisms, beyond previously examined intrapersonal mechanisms, for understanding the attachment style–performance relationship as well as the role that leader characteristics play in triggering the attachment system in anxious followers. Objectives: The present study examined how activity engagement mediates the association between personality and cognition. Methods: Participants were middle-aged and older adults (Age range: 24–93 years; N > 16,000) from the Midlife in the United States Study, the Health and Retirement Study, the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing, and the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study of Aging. In each sample, personality traits and demographic factors were assessed at baseline, engagement in cognitive, physical, and social activities was assessed in a second wave, and cognition was measured in a third wave, 8 to 20 years later. Results: Random-effect meta-analyses indicated that lower neuroticism and higher extraversion, openness, and conscientiousness were prospectively associated with better cognition. Most of these associations were partly mediated by greater engagement in physical and cognitive activities but not social activities. Physical activity accounted for 7% (neuroticism) to 50% (extraversion) and cognitive activity accounted for 14% (neuroticism) to 45% (extraversion) of the association with cognition. Conclusion: The present study provides replicable evidence that physical and cognitive activities partly mediate the prospective association between personality traits and cognitive functioning. Pathological ambivalence, which refers to the simultaneous experience of opposing and contradictory thoughts or emotions, is a relatively understudied construct despite its integral role in early formulations of schizophrenia and schizotypy. The Schizotypal Ambivalence Scale (SAS) was developed to measure this synchronic ambivalence characteristic of schizophrenia-spectrum psychopathology. Interview, questionnaire, and ambulatory assessment studies have demonstrated the SAS is associated with multidimensional schizotypy. The present study examined the expression of ambivalence, as measured by the SAS, in daily life using experience sampling methodology (ESM) in 227 young adults. We also examined ambivalence as a predictor of reactivity, variability, and instability affective dynamics. Participants were prompted by a smartphone application eight times per day for one week to complete ESM questionnaires that assessed affect, social functioning, situation appraisals, and schizotypic experiences in daily life. Overall, SAS scores were associated with daily life experiences of positive, negative, and disorganized schizotypic experiences, emotional dysregulation, and social impairment. SAS scores also predicted time-dependent affective dynamics. Specifically, ambivalence predicted reactivity and variability of negative affect, as well as variability of appraising the current situation as positive. The study also includes an exploratory examination of the effects of ambivalence over-and-above neuroticism measure by the NEO-FFI-3. The present study supports results from interview and questionnaire studies that pathological ambivalence is a cross-cutting component of multidimensional schizotypy and provides further support for the construct validity of the SAS. Aims: To determine whether nurses' personality traits impact their levels of compassion fatigue. Backgrounds: Compassion fatigue has become one of nursing literature's most discussed and investigated topics. Although some nurses working in the same environment and under similar conditions are more resistant to compassion fatigue, some are at risk of it. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with 451 nurses selected using a simple random sampling method in Turkey. Data were collected using web‐based online survey forms between February and April 2022. A questionnaire form regarding personal traits and professional characteristics, the Compassion Fatigue‐Short Scale, and Basic Personality Traits Inventory were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t‐test, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: The nurses' compassion fatigue was moderate, and personality traits were found to be agreeableness, conscientiousness, and extraversion, respectively. There was a negative correlation between compassion fatigue and personality traits of extraversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and openness to experience, yet a positive correlation with neuroticism and negative valence. According to the regression analysis, nurses' personality traits were effective on compassion fatigue by 21.9%. The personality trait of extraversion had a negative impact on compassion fatigue, and neuroticism had a positive impact. Conclusion: This study identified a correlation between nurses' personality traits and compassion fatigue, suggesting that certain personality traits can be predictive factors of compassion fatigue. The limited number of studies discussing personality traits and compassion fatigue together increases the importance of the current study, which may shed light on future studies to be conducted on similar topics. Implications for nursing and other policies: This study has important implications for nurse managers. How does one understand what is a disease from the mutual perspective and how does this perspective shape psychiatric practice. This is a very complex and difficult to rationalise definition. The reason being the human being and the human mind are in itself marvellously difficult to understand. Emotion dysregulation is a transdiagnostic phenomenon. In evidence-based treatments for disorders involving emotion dysregulation, there are still many who do not achieve clinically significant gains. The primary goal of the present study was to examine the effect of personality on treatment outcomes in individuals experiencing symptoms of emotion dysregulation. Participants were involved in a randomized control trial, where they participated in one of two group therapy programs, dialectical behavioural therapy or positive psychotherapy (PPT). Hierarchical regressions were performed to examine the main effects and interactive effects predicting change in emotion dysregulation, depression, and anxiety across the course of treatment. Split group analyses were conducted to examine the main effects of personality on treatment outcomes, differentiated by treatment group. None of the individual personality traits reached a level of significance to predict treatment outcomes after controlling for baseline symptom severity. However, large effect sizes were observed suggesting personality may have moderated specific treatment effects within the individual types of treatment. For participants undergoing dialectical behaviour therapy, higher conscientiousness and higher neuroticism predicted improved depressive symptoms. Conversely, for participants undergoing PPT, lower neuroticism and lower conscientiousness predicted improved emotion dysregulation. Extraversion predicted better outcomes across both groups. Results suggest that certain treatment types could be more beneficial for people with certain personality profiles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background/Aims: Sensory processing sensitivity is a neurobiological trait that is related to many areas of life. The purpose of this study was to translate the original Sensory Processing Sensitivity Questionnaire to Persian and access the psychometric properties of the translated questionnaire in adults aged 18–45 years old. Methods: The questionnaire was translated using the International Quality of Life Assessment project's protocol. Face and content validity were checked by consulting 15 occupational therapists. The study included 142 participants aged 18–45 years with a mean age of 25.11 ± 7.825 years, without any disabilities. They were selected using non-probability sampling and were from all areas of Tehran. The participants completed Persian versions of the Mini-Mental State Examination, General Health Questionnaire-12, and Highly Sensitive Person Scale, as well as the translated Sensory Processing Sensitivity Questionnaire. They also completed the Goldberg Depression Scale, Beck's Anxiety Inventory and the neuroticism sub-scale of the Big Five Inventory. Convergent validity was investigated using the Highly Sensitive Person Scale to ensure reliability, and internal consistency analysis was used. Results: The quality of the translation was good. All items of the Sensory Processing Sensitivity Questionnaire maintained a high item impact score index, with values higher than 1.5, a content validity ratio higher than 0.60, and a content validity index higher than 0.80. A significant positive correlation (r=0.443, P<0.01) was found between the Sensory Processing Sensitivity Questionnaire scores and the Highly Sensitive Person Scale. The Persian translation of the Sensory Processing Sensitivity Questionnaire showed optimal internal consistency (α=0.826) based on Cronbach's alpha. The questionnaire demonstrated good test–retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient 0.863). A significant positive correlation exists between sensory processing sensitivity and anxiety (r=0.188, P<0.05) and neuroticism (r=0.186, P<0.05), but no significant difference was found between sensory processing sensitivity and depression despite their direct relationship (r=0.138, P>0.05). In the control condition, similar results were observed. A significant and positive correlation was found between sensory processing sensitivity and neuroticism in both the depression control (r=0.289, P<0.05) and the anxiety control state (r=0.265, P<0.01). Furthermore, a significant and positive relationship was found between sensory processing sensitivity and anxiety in the control of neuroticism (r=0.305, P<0.01). However, no significant relationship was observed between sensory processing sensitivity and depression in the states of anxiety and neuroticism control (0.1000.05). The results of data analysis revealed that women (P=0.002) and employed people (P=0.059) had higher sensory processing sensitivity. Conclusions: The Persian version of the Sensory Processing Sensitivity Questionnaire has acceptable validity and reliability in Persian-speaking adults aged 18-45 years old. Implications for practice: The Sensory Processing Sensitivity Questionnaire represents a convenient research tool for measuring sensory processing sensitivity because of its simple scoring system, it is quick to complete and it can be used in different situations, by rehabilitation service providers, especially occupational therapists.
