Background: Drug-related harm is a significant public health concern in the UK, particularly among underserved groups such as gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM). This study explores the role of night-time venues (for example night clubs or sex-on-premises venues) in promoting harm reduction strategies for GBMSM who use drugs, highlighting unique challenges within these spaces. Methods: The study used a mixed-methods approach, including an online survey (n = 53) and semi-structured interviews (n = 8). Participants included GBMSM with lived experience of substance use in night-time venues, as well as those providing support to this population. Data was collected through a Likert-scale survey and thematic analysis of qualitative responses. Results: Findings reveal dissatisfaction among survey respondents about the level of support for harm reduction provided by night-time venues, which are perceived as inconsistent in their approach towards substance use. The study also identifies economic and legal barriers faced by venues that prevent the endorsement of harm reduction techniques. Conclusions: Addressing these barriers could transform night-time venues into effective sites for harm reduction, particularly by targeting "afters" culture (the phenomenon where club-goers will return to a residential setting and continue substance use for prolonged periods 'after' the night-time venue closes or the event ends) and promoting safer practices. Gay bars are closing in large numbers around the world, but institutional loss provides only a partial narrative for evaluating the larger field of nightlife. Drawing on 112 interviews, we argue that bar closures disrupted the field and consequently encouraged the visibility of alternate nightlife forms, called club nights. Unlike the fixed and emplaced model of bars, club nights are episodic and event‐based occasions that are renewing nightlife without replicating the format of the gay bar. By detailing the phenomenology of club nights, we develop a new Durkheimian theory of disruptions that explains how and why some members of a community are motivated to renew rather than replicate existing institutional structures. We bring our framework to organization, sexuality, and nightlife studies—subfields that seldom engage with Durkheim—while subjecting a foundational social theory to an empirical case that can push it forward in important ways. This article examines the concept of the term underground and its association with a range of dance music parties and venues that emerged in Liverpool, UK between 2008 and 2023. Drawing on a critical review of literature relating to the term, underground is positioned as a cultural signifier exhibiting three core characteristics: (1) as secretive resistance; (2) as a countercultural antithesis to mainstream; and (3) as a social imaginary. Using ethnographic material from scene practitioner interviews (n = 35) and an online survey of clubbers (n = 194), the article analyses discourses towards the underground as a concept, and how underground characteristics influence scene cultural practices. The findings reveal participants' use of the term as a descriptor of experiential feelings within temporal spaces. Young people who frequent nightclubs, loud concerts, and other similar activities where loud noise is present are exposed to levels of loud sounds that can potentially damage their hearing, causing noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) and tinnitus. This article focuses on understanding the problem of NIHL and noise-induced tinnitus among young people by looking at existing research and conducting an original online survey that focused on nightclub and concert visitation, the use of hearing protection, and selfdetection of possible signs of hearing damage among young people. It aims to highlight the problematic touchpoints where current solutions fail and to present new ways of helping to solve the problem. It proposes a potential solution in the form of a mobile application concept through which we could attempt to change user behavior. By creating a well-designed user experience and employing certain methods of triggering changes in user behavior, this application aims to help young people self-manage their exposure when faced with such dangerously loud situations. In this work, we investigate the statistical properties of drink serving in a nightclub bar, utilizing a stochastic model to characterize pedestrian dynamics within the venue. Our model comprises a system of n agents moving across an underlying square lattice of size l representing the nightclub venue. Each agent can exist in one of three states: thirsty, served, or dancing. The dynamics governing the state changes are influenced by a memory time, denoted as τ , which reflects their drinking habits. Agents' movement throughout the lattice is controlled by a parameter α which measures the impetus towards/away from the bar. We show that serving time distributions transition from a power-law-like to exponential and back to power-law as we increase α starting from a pure random walk scenario ( α = 0 ). Specifically, when α = 0 , a power-law distribution emerges due to the non-objectivity of the agents. As α moves into intermediate values, an exponential behavior is observed, as it becomes possible to mitigate the drastic jamming effects in this scenario. However, for higher α values, the power-law distribution resurfaces due to increased congestion. We also demonstrate that the average concentration of served, thirsty, and dancing agents provide a reliable indicator of when the system reaches a gridlock state. Subsequently, we construct comprehensive maps of the system's stationary state, supporting the idea that for high densities, α is not relevant, but for lower densities, the optimal values of measurements occurs at high values of α . To complete the analysis, we evaluate the conditional persistence, which measures the probability of an agent failing to receive their drink despite attempting to do so. In addition to contributing to the field of pedestrian dynamics, the present results serve as valuable indicators to assist commercial establishments in providing better services to their clients, tailored to the average drinking habits of their customers. Legal entities that carry out economic activities and earn income, from Romania and abroad, have the obligation to pay to the state budget profit tax or microenterprise income tax, as a form of taxation of profits [12]. Profit tax is due quarterly, cumulatively from the beginning of the fiscal year. Entities use the Fiscal Record Register to determine the payment tax. The recording of profit tax in accounting is done with the help of account 441 "Profit tax and other taxes", analytical account 4411 "Profit tax". The general rate, which is applied to the taxable profit, is 16%; as an exception, there is also a 5% rate applied to income from activities of the nature of night bars, night clubs, discotheques or casinos, if the amount due, resulting from the application of the general rate to the taxable profit, is lower than this. Fiscal losses established through the profit tax declaration, submitted to the competent fiscal body (Form 101), are recovered from the taxable profits made, within the limit of 70% inclusive, in the next 5 consecutive years. Taxable profit is determined taking into account the accounting result, non-taxable income, non-taxable expenses and tax deductions. The new regulations regarding the profit tax will cause a reduction in economic growth and foreign investments and implicitly a reduction in net profit, moving some economic agents to countries with more favorable tax provisions. Night-time economies have traditionally clustered in city centres and nightlife districts. Yet, due to regulation, urban regeneration and gentrification, nightlife activities and spaces, including nightclubs and club nights, are increasingly located across cities. However, the significance and spatial dynamics of this diffusion and the relationships between different nocturnal spaces and scales remain poorly understood. This paper examines the intra-urban dispersal of nightclubs in Amsterdam and the ways in which nightclub promoters attune their curatorial practices to urban processes through genre-based commercial and cultural imperatives. Drawing on interviews with 36 nightclub promoters, 111 hours of participant observation at clubs and document-based analysis, it demonstrates how these reflexive actors respond and contribute to intra-urban dispersal by (1) spatialising music genres, (2) staging affective atmospheres at different scales and (3) spatialising audiences. This study assessed the influence of socioeconomic and demographic indicators on different types of crime and explored the spatial and temporal dynamics of crime. Between 2014 and 2020, 174,365 criminal events registered in Quito, Ecuador, were collected and aggregated at an administrative area level. Time-series decompositions, spatial autocorrelations, and regression models were applied, considering different types of crime as dependent variables. A marked seasonal component of crime and crime hotspots in the center of the study area was identified. Crime events are likely to increase significantly by 2025. We also found that unemployment, schooling, unsatisfied basic needs, and especially the density of bars and night clubs are socioeconomic indicators influencing crime. Urban crimes present specific spatial and temporal patterns, and crime events can be explained by urban socioeconomic conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study was conducted to evaluate the field experiences of tobacco inspectors working in the smoke-free airspace implementation in Ankara Province and their opinions and suggestions on the development of smoke-free airspace implementation. Ankara Provincial/District Health Directorate's 77 tobacco control coordinators, tobacco inspectors, and clerical staff working in official correspondence between institutions participated in the study. The mean age of the participants was 44.36 ± 7.4 years (min: 24; max: 63); 61.0% (n = 47) were male, 49.4% (n = 38) were between the ages of 40 and 49, 53.2% (n = 41) were university graduates and above, and 33.8% (n = 26) were environmental health technicians. Of the participants, 81.9% stated that hookah cafes, 75.4% of traditional coffee houses/tea houses, 70.2% of bars/night clubs, and 66.3% of cafeterias/pastry shops have low compliance with the smoke-free airspace implementation, and 70.2% (n = 54) of the participants think that fines are generally useful, 59.7% (n = 46) emphasized camera recording of inspections, and 62.3% (n = 48) emphasized that the Green Detector application would facilitate the work of tobacco inspectors. Participants mentioned problems such as unclear definition of outdoor and indoor areas, insufficient knowledge of enterprises and the public about legal regulations, limited number of tobacco inspection teams, safety concerns of inspectors, and lack of technical infrastructure. They also suggested assigning inspectors from different institutions to the inspection teams, making fines more deterrent, increasing the authority of inspectors to impose fines, reviewing the licenses of establishments where tobacco is sold and served, aggravating the conditions for obtaining licenses, and increasing security measures. This article presents a history of alternative electronic music education in Melbourne, Australia. It documents early examples of experimentation with non-traditional classes and programmes in tertiary institutions and subsequently the emergence, over several decades, of alternative teaching and learning in community centres, nightclubs, retail stores, message boards and magazines. The article uses Scheffler's Models of Teaching to provide a framework to document the differing pedagogical approaches, and draws upon archival material, interviews, essays and first-hand experiences to explain how Melbourne's rich history has informed and influenced today's learning practices. It posits that the adaptable, dynamic and flexible practices found in Melbourne's electronic music education were the result of influences from key educators, the needs of the communities that enabled them and the adaptation to cultural and technological changes. This research explores interactions between traditional parties and movement parties on social media. The longitudinal analysis (2010–2021) is based on data from eighteen parties' official social media accounts in six European countries. Conceptually bridging cycles of contention, social movement lifecycles, and party lifespans, this research identifies regularities in referencing patterns between traditional party families; and by adding a temporal layer, outlines three trajectories of movement parties in the polity arena. The results contribute to conceptualizing movement parties as hybrid organizations and suggest a common logic of movement in positioning in the polity arena as drivers of party-to-party interactions moderated by country-specific contextual factors. This study aims to identify, analyse, and find the risks and legal protections for female workers at nightclubs in Badung, Bali, Indonesia. Through empirical legal research, based on the study's results, it can be found that there are many risks faced by female workers who work at nightclubs. The risks faced by female workers at nightclubs in Badung, Bali, can include health risks (physical and mental/psychological), safety risks, risks of victimisation (becoming victims of criminal acts), getting a negative prejudice from the community, being ostracised, and the risk of falling into prostitution and drug abuse. Legal protection for female workers in nightclubs has yet to be implemented optimally. Many rights and protections are owned by women who work in nightclubs, but nightclubs cannot reach them. There are still many violations of the law against female workers. Management does not provide rights for night workers in accordance with the provisions of the Manpower Act because these workers are not included in the Labor Union. The legal consequences for women workers at night entertainment sites need better legal protection, especially in the context of the labour force. Stigmatising women employees at night recreation sites as prostitution workers also weakens protection for them. The Phillips‐Sul approach to testing the club convergence hypothesis has attracted considerable research interest in recent years due to its advantages over alternative methods. This paper aims to review theoretical papers that extend the Phillips‐Sul approach, empirical studies that apply Phillips‐Sul approach‐based club convergence tests, as well as the software used to execute these methods. The review revealed that, first, the Phillips‐Sul approach has seen modifications regarding the procedure of trend extraction from time series, the log t regression and the algorithm clustering panel units into convergence clubs. Second, the Phillips‐Sul approach has been widely used not only in economics and finance but also in ecological, energy and health studies. Finally, the paper provides guidance for further development of the Phillips‐Sul approach. AbstractThis article seeks to reveal the most important elements of the physical and social servicescape in determining customer satisfaction and the intention to recommend the service during COVID-19-related restrictions. The necessity to wear masks, maintain social distance and other COVID-19 containment measures had a profound impact on the role of servicescape factors in the formation of customer satisfaction. A cross-sectional survey and a partial least squares (PLS) structural equation modelling (SEM) were employed as the main research tools. Visitors to nightclubs in Lithuania served as the empirical basis for the research. The study reveals that social servicescape factors were more important than physical servicescape factors in determining both customer satisfaction and the intention to recommend the service.

Legitimacy within a subculture is often a hotly contested concept, and this is particularly prevalent amongst adherents of Goth music and fashion. Introduction: Ecstasy (3,4‐methylenedioxymethamphetamine [MDMA]) is a drug commonly used by people who attend electronic dance music (EDM) events at nightclubs and dance festivals. Drug checking has gained popularity in recent years to test for adulterants, but epidemiology studies are needed to estimate potential shifts in prevalence of drug checking to further inform harm reduction efforts. Methods: Adults entering randomly selected EDM events in New York City were surveyed in 2017 and 2022. Those reporting past‐year ecstasy use were asked if they tested their ecstasy in the past year using a drug testing kit and whether they found out or suspected their ecstasy contained other drugs. We compared estimates between 2017 and 2022. Results: In 2017, an estimated 23.1% had tested their ecstasy, and this estimate increased to 43.1% in 2022 (86.6% increase, p = 0.006). Among those who tested their ecstasy, in 2017, 31.2% always tested their drug, and this increased to 60.6% in 2022 (94.2% increase, p = 0.026). In 2017, 59.6% of those who tested their ecstasy reported finding out or suspecting their drug was adulterated, which decreased to 18.4% in 2022 (69.1% decrease, p < 0.001). Suspected methamphetamine adulteration in particular decreased, from 21.9% in 2017 to 3.6% in 2022 (83.6% decrease, p = 0.007). Discussion and Conclusions: The use of drug testing kits has increased among EDM event attendees who use ecstasy and, at the same time, among those who had tested their ecstasy, suspected adulteration has decreased. This paper examines the relationship between public houses or pubs, and crime rates in England and Wales. The impact of pubs on local communities is generally studied and investigated within the context of third places, thus physical places that facilitate the accumulation of social capital within communities. We estimate Poisson Fixed-Effects (PFE) and a frontier Spatial Autoregressive (SAR) model on a unique panel dataset for 375 local authorities in England and Wales between 2003 and 2018. Results from the analysis indicate that the presence of pubs progressively relates to a higher incidence of major crimes when transitioning from rural to urban areas, mainly due to weaker level of community cohesion and a lack of resources to support formal policing in more urbanized centres. These findings highlight the importance of place-based strategies in tackling rising incidences of crimes, indicating that recent pub closures may have contributed to severing community ties that act as a deterrent to crime in certain areas.
