First International Symposium on Flutter and its Application (May 15-17, 2016. Mielparque-tokyo), Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan, More or less, the objectives of the engineering are to find optimal solution for the design of the products. Classically the variational methods have been used to find the optimal design in the engineering fields. So many numerical solutions are based upon the variational methods or its similar approaches even if the variational principle does not exist. Variational principles in the fluid dynamics has not been established yet, while those in elasticity and plasticity and optimal control theory have been highly confirmed and applied to actual problems. In this presentation, the methods of calculus variations are reviewed in the fields of structure and elasticity, optimal control theory and fluid dynamics. Firstly the fields of elasticity and optimal control theory are briefly reviewed. The details of them are not discussed here. Focusing on the fluid dynamics, a process of deriving the Hamilton’s principle is shown toward the applications for fluid-structure interaction problems like flutter or other interdisciplinary problems in engineering. The principle of virtual work is applied to the governing equations with boundary conditions. The conservation laws of mass and energy as well as the geometrical boundary conditions are treated as subsidiary conditions. In the present approach, a new concept of substantial variations of the state variables is introduced in order to describe the transportation terms and subsidiary conditions in a simple manner. Mielparque-tokyo), Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan, The Lifting Line Theory is based upon the fact that the local lift at a wing section depends not only on the local section angle of attack but also on the downwash induced by the tailing vortexes shed from the next segments of the wing. It predicts quantitatively the spanwise lift distributions of 3D wing, the induced drag and the load distribution of minimum- drag 3D wing. It is also well consistent with the momentum theory about 3D wing. There are two puzzles for the engineers in the aeronautics, especially for aeroelasticians and aerodynamicians in the world. (i) the collocation point for the numerical solution of lifting surface theory (DLM or VLM) must be at the 3-quarter-chord point of each element. Why? (ii) in the momentum theory about 3D wing, what should be the reference mass to exactly explain the lift and drag? The effect of small perturbations on steady nonlinear transonic small disturbance flow-fields, in the context of two-dimensional flows governed by the general-frequency transonic small disturbance equation with nonreflecting far-field boundary conditions, is investigated. This paper presents a time-linearized time-domain solution method that includes effects due to the shock-generated entropy and vorticity and shock wave motions. The solution procedure correctly accounts for the small-amplitude shock wave motion due to small unsteady changes in the aerofoil boundary conditions, and correctly models a flow-field with embedded strong shock waves. This report describes the numerical simulation of aeroelastic responses of the NAL (National Aerospace Laboratory) Supersonic Transport (SST) experimental aircraft around the transonic region. The computation is based on unsteady Euler equations for governing flow field and a modal approach form of equations for structures. The structural equations of motion were derived on the assumption that the deformation of the body can be described by superposing the orthogonal natural vibration modes weighted with generalized displacements. The structural dynamic characteristics, natural mode shapes and frequencies of this model were found using NASTRAN (NASA Structural Analysis). The flutter boundary was also determined except at transonic regions using linear theory. The flutter boundaries were estimated to be lower than those obtained by the linear theory for the range of Mach number 0.6 - 1.0. Like the linear theory, it was found that the aileron flutter was the most critical. In a design of the Non-powered Supersonic Experimental Airplane, three kinds of flutter modes were focused; aileron with one degree of freedom, a first bending mode of a main wing and a rocket fin first torsion mode coupled with control surface motion. 1993年度から1996年度にかけて行った航空宇宙技術研究所(以下「航技研」)の遷音速フラッタ試験設備の改修における風洞システム設備に関する報告である。第1部、第2部および第3部で構成され、合計7章からなる。第1部は第1〜4章から成り、改修前の旧施設の機能を概観し、新システムの機能設計について述べる。まず、第2章では、1959年に設計された同設備の旧システムの概要を記す。新システムの設計に際し、機能向上を考えるに当たり基本となる項目を考察する。第3章では、改修目的、計画と新システムに関する仕様を述べる。主たる目的は気流の低乱化対策と老朽化対策である。同システムの構造および形態を最大限に活かす方針で新システムに対する仕様を定めた。これらをまとめる。第4章では、第3章を受け新システム機能設計についてまとめる。主に、本設備のユーザの立場から見える機能および利便性に焦点をあてる。前章の概念設計に基づき新システムについての概要は本章に集約されている。第2部は第5章のみである。新システムの設計、および技術検討について述べる。第5章では、仕様に従い行った各部の基本設備および技術検討を記し、調圧弁の設計、高圧導管、集合胴、測定部、抽気室の流体力学および構造力学の立場からの技術検討および設計の概要を記す。第3部は、第6章、第7章および4つのAppendixから成る。本設備の計測システムについての概略を示した後にまとめを述べる。さらに新システム設計時の参考資料および本設備での圧力較正に関する資料を添付する。第6章では、計測システムについて記述する。今回の改修では、計測系は対象外であったが、本設備に関する報告としては欠かすことのできない項目である。第7章ではまとめとして将来のフラッタ試験計画について述べる。さらに、付録として、主に第5章の技術検討、設計に関わる事項の理解を助ける意味で「数値風洞モデル」、「高圧導管の圧力損失の推定」、本設備の制御系に採用した「フィードフォワード演算法」および「圧力自動較正要領」についての技術検討結果を添付する。本研究の結果、気流の低乱化および設備の老朽化対策を目的とした改修が実施され、機能面においても最新の風洞に匹敵する程の改善が加えられた。本研究の妥当性が実風洞試験においても証明される結果となった。本報告が、将来にわたり設備使用者にとって有益な資料になることを希望する。, This is a report on the renewal of the Transonic Flutter Testing Facility (Flutter Wind Tunnel) at NAL which was conducted between 1993FY - 1996FY. The report consists of three parts with a total of six chapters and four appendices. Part one consists of Chapters one to four, which provide an outline of the performance of the old as well as the new system. Chapter two provides an outline of the old system which was constructed in 1959. The concept design of the new system was produced by improving the basic design of the old system. Chapter three describes the purposes of the renewal, and the specifications and plans for the new system. The major aims were to reduce the turbulence the flow in the tunnel and to improve outdated hard ware. Specifications aimed to use the old wind tunnel structures and concept as much as possible. The proposed specifications are summarized. Chapter four describes the design of the new system performance. Performance and utility concerns are focus on the view point of clients. Part two corresponds to Chapter five, and describes the design concept and technical investigations concerning various issues in the renewal design, including the design of the pressure valve, high pressure tubes, chambers, test section and purge chamber. The design of these components takes into account not only aerodynamics but also structural dynamics factors. Part three consists of chapter six and four appendices and explains the measurement systems of the present facility. While the measurement system of the tunnel is beyond the scope of the renewal, it inevitably appears in this report. The four appendices are attached to aid understanding of the design routines of the present wind tunnel, and are entitled Appendix 1 'Numerical Wind Tunnel Model', Appendix two 'Pressure Losses in the High Pressure Tubes', Appendix three 'Method of Feedforward Control used in the new system', and Appendix four 'Calibration of Pressure'. As a result of the present studies, the renovation of the flutter testing facility was made possible by improvements in flow quality and renewal of hard ware bringing the new system up to a standard of performance as high as that of modern wind tunnels around the world. 航空宇宙技術研究所 16-18 Jun. 1999 東京 日本, National Aerospace Laboratory 16-18 Jun. 1999 Tokyo Japan, CFD(数値流体力学)の分野で未解決の研究課題の1つは、正確な解析コードを開発することでる。本研究では、日独(航空宇宙技術研究所NAL-ドイツ航空宇宙研究所DLR)共同研究の枠組みの中で行われ、各研究所のコード間の比較、またはコードと実験結果との比較をする事によりCFDコードの有効性の確認または改良を行う。固定または強制振動制御面をもった定常および非定常状態に対して、SSTの半翼弾性モデルの風洞実験が行われた。補助翼の振動が5から25Hz、マッハ数0.9と0.98の6つの場合に対して、非定常空気力学およびモデルの動的変形を測定した。翼フラッタシミュレーションのNALのCFDコードは、3次元薄層近似のナビエ・ストークス方程式に基づいている。DLRで使用されているCFDコードは、積分境界層結合を伴った3次元オイラー方程式に基づいている。定常状態の場合は、NALとDLRの計算結果は良く一致したが、圧力ピークの位置に関して測定された圧力分布は計算結果と一致しなかった。非定常状態の場合はNALとDLRの計算結果に重要な差は見出されなかった。制御面周りの非定常空気力学の予測については更に研究が必要である。, One of the research topics still open to treat in the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) area is to develop precise analytical code. This work, which has been done within a framework of Japan-German (NAL-DLR) cooperative research, aims for validation and/or improvement of CFD codes through a comparison between either code to code or code to experimental data. Wind tunnel tests on an elastic half-span SST-type model were carried out for steady and unsteady cases with a fixed or forced oscillated control surface. The dynamic deformation of the model as well as the unsteady aerodynamics was measured for six tested cases, at Mach number 0.9 and 0.98 with the aileron frequencies from five to 25 Hz. The NAL CFD code for flutter simulation is based on the three-dimensional thin-layer approximated Navier-Stokes equation. The CFD code employed by DLR is based on the three-dimensional Euler equations with integral boundary layer coupling. For the steady case, the computed results by NAL and DLR are in good agreement, but the measured pressure distributions do not coincide with the computed results concerning the pressure peak position. For unsteady case no significant differences between the results computed by NAL and DLR were observed. 2段に後退した半載のSST(超音速輸送機)アロー翼を用いて、遷音速領域で非定常圧力分布を計測した。翼は1次の固有振動数が9.79Hzの弾性模型である。46点の非定常圧力変換器を埋め込んだ圧力孔と、他に45点の圧力孔を2列のセミスパン位置に設け、非定常および定常圧力分布を各々計測した。定常及び非定常圧力を別々に計測し、適時にアンプのゼロバランスをとることにより、圧力変換器に生じる温度ドリフトの影響を取り除いた。この結果、アンプゲインの値を高めることが可能になり、S/N(信号対雑音)比の向上につながった。また翼模型の動的変位データを、光ファイバとCCD(電荷結合素子)カメラを用いて計測した。翼後縁に設けたフラップの運動により、翼周りの流れに非定常性を励起した。フラップは平均舵角周りに最高30Hzの周波数で加振した。実験結果により、模型の振動モードは1次の共振振動数に近いフラップ振動数で変化し、この変化が非定常圧力分布にも現れることが確認できた。揚力およびモーメントの非定常成分は、非定常圧力分布を積分して求めた。また、非定常空力係数に関しては、翼の内舷ではフラップの振動が強く影響し、外舷では翼の振動自体が強く影響することがわかった。, Unsteady pressure distributions were measured in a series of experiments in the transonic regime for a double-swept-back semi-span SST (Supersonic Transport) arrow wing model. The wing is an elastic model, the first natural frequency is 9.79 Hz. Forty-six unsteady pressure transducers and 45 pressure orifices were embedded at two semi-span stations to measure unsteady and steady pressure distributions respectively. The influence of temperature drifts in the wind tunnel could be effectively removed from the pressure transducer signal by timely taking of zero-balance. As a result, the gain of amplifiers was able to be raised, and then high S/N (Signal to Noise) ratio achieved. Dynamic deformation data of the wing model were also measured, using optical targets and CCD (Charge Coupled Device) cameras. The flow field around the model was excited by a trailing edge flap which was oscillated around a mean deflection angle in the frequency range up to 30 Hz. The model vibration mode changed at the flap frequency near the model first resonance. The unsteady pressure distributions were affected by this change of vibration mode. Unsteady lift and moment coefficients were derived from unsteady pressure distributions. 遷音速域を運用範囲にもつ超高速輸送機においては、設計の初期段階から構造の強度設計だけでなく空力弾性設計も同時に行う必要がある。この空力弾性設計に必要な遷音速域での空力弾性現象、特にフラッタ速度推算用解析ツールは現在検証段階にある。2003年度のJADC-FHI-JAXAの共同研究「超高速輸送機のフラッタ特性に関する研究」においては、遷音速領域におけるフラッタ特性推算手法の確立のために、超音速機の弾性模型によるフラッタ風洞試験をJAXAの0.6m×0.6m遷音速フラッタ風洞設備にて行い、解析ツール検証に必要なデータを取得した。今回フラッタ風洞試験に用いた弾性模型は、旧航空宇宙技術研究所で計画され基本設計を行った小型超音速ジェット実験機(1次形状)の遷音速フラッタ特性取得のために製作した11％スケール弾性模型を改修したものである。フラッタ発生時に模型損傷回避策が有効に働いたので、同一のフラッタ模型にて短期間に6つのフラッタポイントを取得することができた。, 資料番号: AA0048140001, レポート番号: JAXA-SP-04-011

Calculations of unsteady transonic flow about oscillating airfoils where flutter, dynamic stall, buffet and moving shock waves on these surfaces change the entire flow fields and aerodynamic characteristics, are still stiff problems that stimulate more work and studies to be done. There were four applicant teams for the present workshop. Because of time span between the announcement and the workshop was short to conduct full computation for three-D aircraft configuration even now, only one applicant presented the complete set of cases. The remaining teams presented some of the problems or trial case. After the workshop they are working on to complete analysis and will present their results in near future which will be put on the CFD on Web. In this compendium, because of this, a general survey look on the applicants analyses is presented. 空力弾性テイラリングで最適化された前進翼の遷音速領域でのフラッタ限界値を、迎角0度の場合と2度の場合の一部について実験的に確認したので報告する。迎角2度の場合(設計点)ではテイラリングされた最適化前進翼は、極めて接近した動圧で2つのモードのフラッタとダイバージェンスがほぼ同時に起きることが確認された。最適化された翼としての観点から非常に興味深い現象である。さらに以前から行われているパラメタスタディとの結果とも比較がなされている。, Research on Aeroelastic Tailoring at NAL is presented. The code is based on the Beam-Warming ADI (Alternating Direction Implicit) method combined with a dynamic grid system. Thin-layer approximated unsteady Navier-Stokes equations are integrated in a time-dependent manner with Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model. With Mach number, 0.3 and Reynolds number, 6 x 10(exp 6), characteristics of lift, drag and moment coefficients are investigated at a variety of angles of attack. The simulated flows are compared qualitatively with experimental results obtained by flow visualization conducted in a low-speed higher angles of attack than that at which 'Stall' occurs. 超音速機のフラッタ特性は，特に遷音速域において非常に重要である．本研究では，JAXAで進められた超音速ジェット実験機形態の弾性模型(1次形状モデル，2.5次形状モデル)を用いてJAXA遷音速フラッタ風洞においてフラッタ風洞試験を実施した．1次形状モデルを用いた風洞試験では，翼端に錘を用いる模型損傷回避策により，模型を損傷することなく発散的なフラッタポイントを7点得ることができ，また，発散的なフラッタバウンダリより低い動圧において，マッハ数に依存してリミットサイクル振動が発生する領域を確認した．2.5次形状モデルを用いた風洞試験では，迎角およびエンジンナセルフロースルーの流量がリミットサイクル振動発生領域に与える影響について調べ，エンジンナセルインテーク部まわりの流れ場により，リミットサイクル振動が発生する領域が変化することを確認した．本風洞試験により得られたフラッタ特性は，開発が進められている非線形空力弾性解析ツールの検証データとしても用いられる．, Transonic flutter wind tunnel tests with a fleible scaled model of the Jet-powered Supersonic Experimental Airplane were conducted at Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). Typical dip shape boundary of transonic flutter was obtained and limit cycle oscillation was also revealed below the flutter boundary. 航空機のエルロン・バズは高速飛行において非常に危険な現象である。特に薄翼の航空機では、衝撃波による境界層はく離の発生が抑えられる結果、翼面での衝撃波振動自体がエルロン・バズの発生に直接結びつき、急速にエルロン振動が成長する。このようなエルロン・バズ現象に対する情報は薄翼航空機の存在が少ないため非常に少ない。一方、超音速旅客機の様な高速で飛行する航空機ではこのエルロン・バズの検討が必須となるため、将来の先進的高速航空機開発に対するデータ蓄積のため同エルロン・バズ現象の検討を行う必要がある。この必要性のもと、翼弦長の25％の長さのエルロンを持つNACA0003翼に対し、エルロンに強制的な振動を与えた場合の衝撃波の振動とエルロンに働くモーメントの関係について検討を進めた。本研究では、マッハ数、翼の迎角、および、エルロン振動の振幅と振動数を変化させ、翼周りの流れに対するこれらの影響、および、エルロンに働く非定常モーメントとの関係を、流体力学シミュレーション技術を用いて調べた。この結果、衝撃波が定常衝撃波位置に比べて上流側で振動する現象が見られ、これには粘性が強く影響していることが判明した。また、エルロン舵角を調和振動的に変化させても、衝撃波の位置は調和振動的にならないことが観察され、これには衝撃波前後の圧力比が調和振動的に変化しないことが影響していると考えられた。以上、エルロン・バズ発生に直接関係する衝撃波の運動は、単純な線形空気力学では扱えない要素を含んでいることが明らかとなった。, Aileron buzz is one of the most dangerous phenomena encountered in high-speed flight. If the wing is thin, conventional aileron buzz, which is always accompanied by boundary layer separation, will not occur. In this case, shock wave motions are of great importance in the aileron buzz phenomenon. To acquire fundamental knowledge on this type of aileron buzz, the relationship between shock wave movement and aileron hinge moment have been studied with numerical simulations. A forced aileron oscillation was applied to the unsteady Navier-Stokes simulations around a two-dimensional NACA0003 airfoil with 25 percent chord-length aileron at the trailing edge. In this study, the Mach number, airfoil angle of attack and amplitude and reduced frequency of aileron oscillation were varied. The influence of these parameters on the flow characteristics is described, taking into account the shock wave motions on the aileron surface and the aileron hinge moment. It is observed that, if the shock wave exists on the aileron, it oscillates around a position located upstream of the steady shock wave. The position of a shock wave moving on the aileron is greatly influenced by flow viscosity. It is also observed that the shock wave oscillates non-harmonically, even though the aileron oscillates harmonically. This characteristic was studied by simulating the shock wave motion, assuming a one-dimensional flow field. In the past, there have been many activities in the development of computational methods for the analysis of steady and unsteady transonic flow in the time-linearized frequency- and time-domain. These activities were motivated by the need to supplement expensive and time consuming wind tunnel tests subject to unsteady aerodynamics and aeroelasticity, especially, flutter, with an affordable and reliable alternative. In the present paper, the outline of the aeroelasticity analytical tool named as Numerical Aeroelasticity Testing and Assessment System (NATAS) developed at NAL is prescribed. This system consists of four modules; the Doublet Point Method module (The Linear Lifting Surface Theory), The TSD module (The Transonic Small Disturbance Theory), the FP module (The Full Potential Theory) and the EL/NS module (The Euler and Navier-Stokes' Theory). The prototypes of these codes were developed by the researchers at NAL of Japan. The NATAS uses GUI (Graphical User Interface) to interactively manage input, output and interlink among the modules, error processing and graphical results. The input data for the higher model can be automatically converted for the lower one. The user can choose the module depending upon the trade-off among the purpose of the calculation, the accuracy, the efficiency and the cost. The report consists of three parts-seven chapters and four appendices. Chapters 1,2,3 and 4 are grouped together as PART 1. These chapters outline the performance of the previous as well as the new system. Chapter 2 provides an overview of the previous system constructed in 1959. The concept design of the new system was based on improvements to the basic design of the previous system. In Chapter 3, the purpose of the renewal and specifications and plans for the new system are shown. The major aims were to reduce the turbulence of flow in the tunnel and renewal of out-of-date hardware. The specifications given ensured that the previous wind tunnel structures and concept were retained where possible. The proposed specifications are summarized. Chapter 4 describes the design of the new system performance. Items involving performance and utility are viewed from the client's perspective. PART 2 corresponds to Chapter 5 and describes the design concept and technical investigations of various issues concerning the renewal design including the design of the pressure control valve, the high pressure tubes, the chambers, test section and plenum chamber. These components are considered not only from an aerodynamical but also from a structural dynamical perspective. PART 3 consists of Chapters 6,7 and four appendices, and Chapters 6 explains the measurement systems in the present facility. The measurement system for the tunnel is beyond the scope of the renewal project, but an overview is necessary and included in this report. Chapter 7 describes the flutter examination plan for the future as settling. The four appendices assist in understanding the design routines of the present wind tunnel. The results of the work meant renovation of the flutter testing facility was made possible by improvements to flow quality and renewal of hardware to the extent that the new system performs as well as any modern wind tunnel in the world.
