We present a method for measuring the transmission loss of an optical fiber using simplified optical correlation-domain reflectometry. By intentionally lowering the spatial resolution of the system, we observe the Rayleigh scattered signal for the first time without the need for a frequency shifter. Using this method, we simultaneously measure the transmission loss, location, and loss of faulty connections along a 10-km-long fiber under test by performing distributed reflected-power measurements of Rayleigh scattering and Fresnel reflection.

Laurent Berger attached a p-adic differential equation N_rig(M) with a Frobenius structure to an arbitrary de Rham (phi, Gamma)-module over a Robba ring. In this article, we compare the local epsilon conjecture for the cyclotomic deformation of M with that of N_rig(M). We first define an isomorphism between the fundamental lines of their cyclotomic deformations using the second author's results on the big exponential map. As a main result of the article, we show that this isomorphism enables us to reduce the local epsilon conjecture for the cyclotomic deformation of M to that of N_rig(M)., Comment: 28 pages

We propose a newly configured optical correlation-domain reflectometry (OCDR) without the use of an electrical spectrum analyzer (ESA) for high-speed distributed reflectivity measurement with an enhanced spatial resolution. First, the operation of ESA-free OCDR is analyzed by numerical simulation, the results of which show the potential of the configuration to perform distributed reflectivity measurement with an improved spatial resolution. Subsequently, the simulation results are verified by comparison experiments, where distributed reflectivity measurements along a 32-m-long single-mode fiber joint with multiple connectors are performed using both conventional (with averaging) and ESA-free OCDR configurations (without averaging) at a repetition rate of 100 Hz. The widths of the reflectivity peaks experimentally obtained by the conventional and ESA-free OCDR configurations are 22.9 cm and 7.0 cm, respectively. Finally, we experimentally evaluated the performance of the ESA-free OCDR at higher repetition rates, achieving 6.3-cm spatial resolution at a repetition rate of 1 kHz. This result indicates that the ESA-free OCDR can perform a distributed reflectivity measurement with an improved spatial resolution at a higher operation speed than ever., Comment: 19 pages, 8 figures

In this article, we construct zeta morphisms for the universal deformations of odd absolutely irreducible two dimensional mod p Galois representations satisfying some mild assumptions, and prove that our zeta morphisms interpolate Kato's zeta morphisms for Galois representations associated to Hecke eigen cusp newforms. The existence of such morphisms was predicted by Kato's generalized Iwasawa main conjecture. Based on Kato's original construction, we construct our zeta morphisms using many deep results in the theory of p-adic (local and global) Langlands correspondence for GL_{2/Q}. As an application of our zeta morphisms and the resent article {KLP19}, we prove a theorem which roughly states that, under some mu=0 assumption, Iwasawa main conjecture without p-adic L-function for f holds if this conjecture holds for one g which is congruent to f., Comment: 97pages (first version), 109 pages (second version). Our team, Hibikino-Musashi@Home (HMA), was founded in 2010. It is based in the Kitakyushu Science and Research Park, Japan. Since 2010, we have participated in the RoboCup@Home Japan Open competition open platform league annually. We have also participated in the RoboCup 2017 Nagoya as an open platform league and domestic standard platform league teams, and in the RoboCup 2018 Montreal as a domestic standard platform league team. Currently, we have 23 members from seven different laboratories based in Kyushu Institute of Technology. We also participated in the World Robot Challenge (WRC) 2018 in the service-robotics category of the partner-robot challenge (real space) and won first place. Currently, we have 20 members from eight different laboratories within the Kyushu Institute of Technology. Extending the former work for the good reduction case, we provide a numerical criterion to verify a large portion of the "Iwasawa main conjecture without $p$-adic $L$-functions" for elliptic curves with additive reduction at an odd prime $p$ over the cyclotomic $\mathbb{Z}_p$-extension. We also deduce the corresponding $p$-part of the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer formula for elliptic curves of rank zero from the same numerical criterion. We propose a method for generating cascaded forward Brillouin scattering (CFBS), based on a counter-propagated pump-probe technique, utilizing backward stimulated Brillouin scattering as its seed. The CFBS, induced by forward stimulated Brillouin scattering (FSBS), is generated via the energy transfer from the probe light to other acoustic resonance frequencies. Experimental results for the CFBS generated in a 390-m-long highly nonlinear fiber indicate that it has a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and that the center frequencies of its acoustic resonance peaks agree with theoretical values. The sensing properties of the generated CFBS were also verified.
