Bor (B) ve Selenyum (Se), antioksidan, anti-apoptotik, anti-lipid peroksidatif ve bağışıklık güçlendirici özellikleri sayesinde insan vücudu için gerekli eser elementlerdir. Bu çalışma, Se ve B'nin Siklofosfamid (SFD) ile indüklenen kemik iliğinde miyeloid koruyucu potansiyellerini ve bu anti-kanser ilacın miyelotoksik özelliğinin kullanımını sınırladığını göz önünde bulundurarak deneysel sıçanlarda hematolojik toksisiteyi karşılaştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. SFD'nin kemik iliği ve kan hücreleri üzerindeki toksik etkilerini önlemede selenyumun bordan daha iyi bir koruyucu etkiye sahip olduğunu varsaydık. Bu eser elementlerin en sık kullanılan optimal dozları olan 1.5 mg/kg Se ve 20 mg/kg B hayvanlara deney boyunca intraperitoneal olarak verildi. Sadece 4. günde 200 mg/kg SFD uygulandı. Hayvanlar sakrifiye edilerek hematolojik değerlendirmeler için kan ve kemik iliği örnekleri alındı. SFD uygulaması, lökosit (WBC), trombosit (PLT), eritrositler (RBC) ve kemik iliği çekirdekli hücre sayılarını önemli ölçüde azalttı. Öte yandan, SFD ile birlikte Se ve B verilen gruplarda, sadece SFD verilenlere göre önemli miktarlarda arttı. Ancak Se'nin, istatistiksel anlamlılık elde edememesine rağmen, SFD'nin neden olduğu kemik iliği ve hematolojik toksisiteyi önlemede B'den daha koruyucu olduğu kanıtlanmıştır. Bu nedenle, bu deneyde kullanılan dozların, kemik iliğinde SFD'nin neden olduğu hasara ve SFD'e bağlı hematolojik toksisiteye karşı korumada başarılı olduğu sonucuna varıldı.

Pediatric gastroenteritis is a potentially fatal disease that accounts for 10% of childhood deaths. The main risk is environmental factors and nutrition. Arsenic (As) is commonly found in the earth's crust. As is an essential element that can form many organic compounds. In children, it causes diarrhea, gums, tongue lesions, diabetes, conjunctivitis, ocular opacity, and impaired immune response. It also causes low growth, mental retardation, and neurological problems. It is also known as the cause of many cancers that originate at an early age. Regionally, there is an iron and steel industry for almost a century. According to the Rome IV criteria, the blood and stools of 50 children aged 6-18 years, male and female, living in our province with functional gastrointestinal disease (FGD), were screened for As, and compared with the Healthy group (control) of 30 children. The results were evaluated with the Mann-Whitney Rank Sum Test. When blood and stool As values in males were compared with control samples, a high level of significance (p = 0.001) was found between both blood and stool As values in sick males and the control group (p < 0.005). In females, blood and stool As median values were also highly significant when compared with the control group (p = 0.001). According to these data, when the sick children (children with male and female gender) are compared with the healthy ones, the difference is highly significant (p < 0.005). High blood As levels in children indicate environmental pollution. It can be said that blood As levels are high as a result of food, water, and inhaler exposure. The presence of a high level of significant difference in stool means that the amount of As is high in the foods consumed daily. High levels of As are in blood and stools; It was evaluated that FGD could be the cause of nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and colic. The increase in blood and stool As values due to environmental pollution is an important reason for FGD. For diseases of uncertain cause (such as FGD) resulting from chronic As exposure, blood and especially stool As values are more significant than urinary As levels. Introduction: To investigate the blood lead levels (BLLs) and faecal lead levels (FLLs) in children with various functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) and compare them with controls. Patients and methods: One hundred and two children with FGIDs defined by the Rome IV criteria, aged 4–18 years, and one hundred and two sex matched healthy children were enrolled in the study. Children with FGIDs were divided into three subgroups as functional constipation (FC) (n = 36), functional abdominal pain (FAP) (n = 36) and functional nausea (FN) (n = 30). The lead levels were measured using atomic absorption spectrometer. Results: The median BLLs in the FGIDs group was significantly higher than in controls (5.12 and 1.77 µg/dL, respectively). However, as with other chemotherapeutic drugs, the use of CP is limited by the damage to healthy tissues such as testes, bladder and liver as well as cancerous tissue. Boron (B) is a trace element with many biological properties such as antioxidant, anti-apoptotic and anti-lipid per oxidation. Methods: This current study aims to determine protective effects of B on CP induced testicular toxicity. The rats were divided into 4 groups (control, CP, B and B plus CP groups). The testes of experimental animals were taken for histological, apoptotic markers and biochemical analysis. Results: The damage to some seminifer tubules, loss of typical appearance, thinning of seminifer epithelium and relative enlargement of the tubule lumen were watched in testis of the group that administrated CP. Moreover, Bcl-2, TAC and GSH levels decreased while TOC, OSI, MDA, Bax and Caspase-3 levels increased. On the other hand, pretreatment limited to B in the B plus CP group, testicular tissue improved. In addition, Bcl-2, GSH, TAC levels increased, Bax, MDA, TOC, OSI and caspase-3 levels decreased. Conclusion: B significantly reduced testicular lipid per-oxidation and strengthened antioxidant defenses. Our results showed that pre-treatment B can protect rat testis against CP-induced testicular damage owing to its anti-lipid per oxidation, anti-oxidant and anti-apoptotic properties.

Treatment options to improve overall survival rate of prostate cancer patients are limited since tumor cells acquire resistance to the chemotherapeutic drugs. We aimed to determine anticancer effects of stone alkaline water (SAW) on PC-3 and DU-145 prostate adenocarcinoma cell lines. SAW was obtained by triturating high stones under vacuum at 3000 °C. High mineral and trace element containing fraction of SAW was used for the experiments. Viability of the tumor cells was analyzed using tetrazolium based WST-1 cell proliferation assay, cell cycle analysis was carried out with Propidum Iodide staining (Muse™ Cell Cycle Kit). Acridine Orange and Annexin V stainings were done to analyze the cellular morphology and to determine apoptosis. Tumor cell derived angiogenesis was analyzed with migration and tube formation assays. SAW treatment resulted in accumulation of cells at G0/G1 phase and inhibited tumor cell induced HUVEC tube formation and migration. SAW treatment significantly decreased viability of PC-3 and DU-145 prostate adenocarcinoma cells and induced apoptotic cell death. Intriguingly, treatment of the prostate cancer cells with SAW inhibited tumor cell derived angiogenesis. SAW may aid in treating prostate cancer and molecules important for SAW’s apoptotic and anti-angiogenic effects need to be determined.

Avian coccidiosis is animportant disease caused by protozoa of the genus Eimeria. İt leads to significant economic losses inthe poultry industry. For control ofcoccidiosis in avian, using pharmacological active sub­stance such as nikarbazin, halofuginon,robenidin, di­clazuril, monensin, salinomycin, naracin, lasalocit andmaduramicin. Residues ofused drugs are significant for human healthy. In this study, we have taken from the poultry meat andeggs available for consumption in Is­tanbul with 150 specimens were screenedfor lasalosit. In general, the optimalfeeding conditions has been lim­ited 75-125µg/g for lasalosit. After thefeeding under these circumstances 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th day the tis­sues wasanalyzed. 1st, 3rd, 5th days detectedtissue residues were considered important. High residue in­cluding which 1st, 3rd and 5th day tissues treatedfried, boiled, held on +4°C andfreezed. Consequently it was confirmedthat lasolocid residue have decreasing and affected by heat treatment ofresidues in tissues., KanatlıKoksidiyozisi eimeriatürlerinin neden olduğu önemli bir protozon hastalığıdır. Koksidi­yozisinkontrölünde nikarbazin, halofuginon, robeni­din, diklazuril, monensin,salinomisin, narasin, lasalosit ve maduramisin gibi ilaçlar kullanılmaktadır.Kullanı­lan ilaçların kalıntıları izlenmesi ve gerekli önlemlerin alınmasıinsan sağlığı açısından büyük bir önem taşı­maktadır. Bu çalışmada İstanbul’da tüketimesunulan tavuk eti ve yumurtalardan aldığımız 150’şer adet nu­mune de lasalositkalıntı ve düzey izlemesi yapılmıştır. Genel olarak broilerlerdeki (tavuk)yedirme koşulla­rında lasalosit 75–125 µg/gile sınırlandırılmıştır. Bu şartlardayapılan yedirme denemeleri sonrasında 1. 3. ve 5. ve 7. günlerde alınandokularda analizler yapılmış, 1. 3. 5. gün dokularındaki lasalosit kalıntıdüzeyi önemli bulunmuştur. Kalıntı miktarı yüksek olan 1. 3. ve 5. gün dokularıkızartma, haşlama, +4°C muhafaza ve dondurmaya işleme ve depolama proseslerinetabi tutulmuştur. Sonuç olarak lasalosit giderek hızla azalan bir rezidüyesahip olduğu ve dokudaki kalıntılarının ısıl işlemlerden etkilendikleri tespitedilmiştir.
