WOS: 000508967700020, This study was performed to evaluate the end systolic wall stress/end-systolic volume index ratio (ESWS/ESV-I) for LV systolic function in Anatolian shepherd dogs (ASHs) with stage B2 degenerative mitral valve disease (DMVD). Thirty-eight adult ASHs with DMVD (experimental group; 20 B1 dogs and 18 B2 dogs) and 30 weight-matched adult healthy ASHs (control group) were used as subjects. There was no overlap for the ESW5/ESV-I ratio (0.83 +/- 0.03, range: 0.61-1.09 for B2 dogs, 1.34 +/- 0.05, range: 1.11-1.89 for B1 dogs, 2.171 +/- 0.0 range: 1.91-3.02 for the control dogs) among the groups. WOS: 000472046500004, Degenerative mitral valve disease (DMVD) is the leading cause of cardiac disease and heart failure in the dog. Advanced age, breed and male gender are well-known risk factors for DMVD. The incidence of the disease in German Shepherds seems to be noteworthy. Early diagnosis of DMVD is related to the identification of a left apical systolic murmur, characteristic of MR in a dog. Dogs with DMVD had a low frequency of arrhythmias compared to other cardiac conditions. The goal of the study was (i) to evaluate the age and gender incidences of the asymptomatic Anatolian Shepherd Dogs (ASHs) with DMVD and, (ii) to investigate the importance of its clinical, radiological, electrocardiographic (ECG) findings and the correlations of those with some echo cardio logical measurements. 35 healthy ASHs (control group) and 38 ASHs with DMVD (experimental group) were used as the materials. The severity of cardiac disease was classified according to the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) consensus statement. Thirty two dogs (84.2%) were males and 6 dogs (15.8%) were females in the experimental group. The median age, the intensity of heart murmur and the severity of mitral regurgitation (MR) of the B2 dogs were bigger (p 0.05). The intensity of murmur was correlated to left ventricle to aorta ratio (LA/Ao) and it was not correlated (P>0.05) to MVLs, vertebral heart scale (VHS), ECG findings and regurgitant jet area to LA area ratio (ARJ/LAA). The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the changes in macrovascular and microvascular parameters in survivors (Sv) and non-survivors (non-Sv) dogs with severe sepsis and septic shock (SS&SS) in response to goal-directed hemodynamic optimization at the intensive care unit (ICU), and to evaluate norepinephrine (NE) and dobutamine (DT) ICU applications, and their effectiveness for predicting death. Thirty-five dogs with SS&SS were used. NE was given to 10 hypotensive dogs, despite one bolus of fluid therapy, at a constant infusion rate of 1.5 µg/kg/min for 2 h. The purpose of this study was to monitor left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVSD) and diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) using transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) in dogs with severe sepsis and septic shock (SS/SS). A prospective longitudinal study using 23 dogs with SS/SS (experimental group) and 20 healthy dogs (control group) were carried out. All the clinical, laboratory and cardiologic examinations for the experimental dogs were performed at admission, 6 and 24 h after the start of treatment and on the day of discharge. LVSD was described as LV ejection fraction (LVEF) &lt, 50%. LVDD was determined when the septal mitral annulus early diastolic velocity (LVEm) was &lt, 8 cm/s. LVSD and LVDD were present in 3 and 16 dogs with SS/SS, respectively, with both types of dysfunction present in 2 of the dogs. Although all the dogs with LVSD survived, 8 dogs with LVDD did not. The survival period was significantly shorter in dogs with an LVEm &lt, 8 cm/s (1.3 ± 1.4 days). In conclusion, LVDD, rather than LVSD, was a common cardiovascular abnormality in the septic dogs, and this may be a negative prognostic factor. TTE is a useful tool for the identifying and monitoring of myocardial dysfunction in the dogs with SS/SS.

Türkiye lokal gen kaynaklarından olan ve sayıları günden güne azalan Gürcü keçileri hakkında yapılmış çalışmalar oldukça kısıtlıdır. Bu çalışmada Gürcü keçilerinde, meraya çıkmadan önce, mera sezonunda ve mera beslemesinin bittiği dönemde bazı biyokimyasal parametrelerdeki değişimin belirlenmesi amaçlandı. Keçilerin (n=30) dakikadaki solunum sayısı (R), nabız sayısı (P) ve rektal ısıları (T) belirlendi. Kan örnekleri mera öncesi (4 ay), mera beslemesi (4 ay) ve mera sonrasında (4 ay) olacak şekilde her dönemin ortasında alındı. Glukoz (GLUK), laktat dehidrogenaz (LDH), trigliserit (TG) ve total protein (TP) konsantrasyonunun mera öncesi dönemde diğer dönemlerden istatistiksel olarak önemli ölçüde düşük bulunduğu tespit edildi. Kalsiyum (Ca) ve aspartat aminotransferaz (AST) seviyesinde dönemler arası istatistiksel fark belirlenemezken magnezyum (Mg) seviyesinin mera öncesi dönemde mera sonrasına göre yüksek olduğu belirlendi. Düşük yoğunluklu lipoprotein (LDL-C) konsantrasyonunun ise merada ve mera sonrası süreçte yükseldiği belirlendi. Sonuç olarak, Gürcü keçilerinde geleneksel şekilde yapılan beslenmenin farklı dönemlerinde, bazı serum biyokimyasal parametrelerin önemli ölçüde etkilendiği tespit edildi., Turkey, one of the local genetic resources and the number of studies conducted on Gurcu goats descending from day to day is very limited. In this study, it was aimed to determine the changes in some biochemical parameters in the Gurcu goats before pasture, during pasture season and at the end of pasture feeding. Respiratory rate (R), pulse rate (P) and rectal temperature (T) of goats (n=30) were determined. Blood samples were taken in the middle of each period, before pasture (4 months), pasture feeding (4 months) and after pasture (4 months). It was found that glucose (GLUK), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), triglyceride (TG) and total protein (TP) concentration were found to be significantly lower in the pre-pasture period than other periods. While there was no statistical difference between the periods in the calcium (Ca) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) level, it was determined that the magnesium (Mg) level was higher than the pasture after the pasture. Low density lipoprotein (LDL-C) concentration was determined to increase in pasture and post-pasture process. As a result, it was found that some serum biochemical parameters were significantly affected in different periods of traditional feeding in Gurcu goats.

13 yaşlı erkek bir köpek ateş, iştahsızlık, durgunluk gibi genel; purulent burun ve gözyaşı akıntısı, öksürük gibi respiratorik; apati, ataksi, kuadripleji, kas atrofisi ve miyoklonus gibi nörolojik bulgular ile Selçuk Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi Hayvan Hastanesine getirilmiştir. Klinik muayene, laboratuvar analizleri ve yapılan distemper hızlı kiti ile “old dog ensefalit” tespit edilmiştir. Klinik muayenede vücut ısısı, solunum sayısı ve kalp ritminde artış belirlenmiştir. Tedavi olarak intravenöz 0.9% NaCl ve 5% dekstroz solüsyonları, vitamin ve aminoasitler, seftriakson, N-asetil sistein, miyoklonusu kontrol altına almak için pregabalin uygulanmıştır. Sonuç olarak köpeklerin distemper virüsünün 6 yaşından büyük erişkin köpekleri “old dog ensefalit” olarak etkileyebileceği ve bu durumun insanlarda kızamık dahil demiyelinizasyon hastalıklarının daha ileri çalışmaları için değerli bir model olabileceği kanısına varılmıştır., 13 year-old male dog with complaints of fever, loss of appetite, stagnation as well as respiratory signs such as purulent nasal and eye discharge, cough and neurologic signs including apathy, ataxia, quadriplegia, muscular atrophy and myoclonus which admitted to the Animal Hospital of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Selcuk University. “Old dog encephalitis” was determined by clinical, laboratory examinations and rapid distemper test. Clinical findings revealed hyperthermia, tachypnea and tachycardia. Intravenous 0.9% NaCl and 5% dextrose solution, vitamin and amino acids, ceftriaxone, n-acetylcysteine for improving clinical appearance and for controlling myoclonus pregabalin were used. In conclusion canine distemper virus may affect mature dogs over six years old as “old dog encephalitis” and this condition may provide a valuable model for further study of demyelinating diseases including measles in humans.
