Deliverable D.3.2 “Upscale of eco-friendly insulating façade panels for demo-site applications” presents the overall process upscaling both HDG ETICS and ventilated façade panels required for the installation at all demo sites.

Deliverable D3.3 “Upscale of eco-friendly radiating panels for wall and ceiling for demo site applications” presents the overall process upscaling HDG ETICS wall radiant panels required for the installation at all demo sites.

Wood waste, possibly originating from deconstruction of buildings is processed to obtain fine fractions which are further embedded into innovative high performance prefabricated geopolymeric panel, intended to be used as façade panels or internal lining. For these uses reaction to fire (RtF) is one of the most important characteristics. Inside the EU InnoWEE project (Innovative pre-fabricated components including different waste construction materials reducing building energy and minimising environmental impacts) this aspect is studied on the innovative panels. As the material's basis is inorganic there is a possibility of compliance to high demanding reaction to fire classes (non-combustible materials). Furthermore as there are different variants of the material that may also include CDW wood chips, it is important to understand how the variable content of wood chips influences critical parameters for the RtF. Different variants of CDW geopolymers based panels were assessed with respect to the reaction to fire, using cone calorimeter. Results have shown that CDW panels containing 20% of wood comply to the A2 class and are suitable for all uses, with respect to fire. Higher wood content (maximum 50% of wood chips) yields hardly combustible materials.

[Image: see text] Although it is theoretically expected that all organic semiconductors support ambipolar charge transport, most organic transistors either transport holes or electrons effectively. Single-layer ambipolar organic field-effect transistors enable the investigation of different mechanisms in hole and electron transport in a single device since the device architecture provides a controllable planar pn-junction within the transistor channel. However, a direct comparison of the injection barriers and of the channel conductivities between electrons and holes within the same device cannot be measured by standard electrical characterization. This article introduces a novel approach for determining threshold gate voltages for the onset of the ambipolar regime from the position of the pn-junction observed by photoluminescence electro-modulation (PLEM) microscopy. Indeed, the threshold gate voltage in the ambipolar bias regime considers a vanishing channel length, thus correlating the contact resistance. PLEM microscopy is a valuable tool to directly compare the contact and channel resistances for both carrier types in the same device. The reported results demonstrate that designing the metal/organic–semiconductor interfaces by aligning the bulk metal Fermi levels to the highest occupied molecular orbital or lowest unoccupied molecular orbital levels of the organic semiconductors is a too simplistic approach for optimizing the charge-injection process in organic field-effect devices.
