[EN] Physics, a first-year course in Engineering degrees, is often failed by students. Furthermore, students do not seem to recognize the usefulness of the subject as part of their training. To improve the perception that undergraduate students have of Physics courses, as well as to increase their interest in the subject, a couple of special lectures were held within the Physics II course. These special lectures consisted of science outreach and job guidance, both in business and academia. During the talks, the speakers emphasized their personal experiences during and after their university studies. Participating students (35 students from various engineering degrees) were asked to answer an anonymous feedback survey after attending the special lectures. All the students who answered the survey were satisfied with the experience carried out. They also affirmed that they considered the special lectures useful for their training, and a vast majority said they had improved their perception of the subject., [ES] Las asignaturas de Física en el primer curso en los grados de ingeniería cuentan con un elevado número de suspensos. Además, los alumnos parecen no reconocer la utilidad de la asignatura como parte de su formación. Para mejorar la percepción que los alumnos tienen de la asignatura, así como para aumentar su interés por la misma se celebraron un par de clases magistrales especiales en el seno de la asignatura Física II, consistentes en orientación laboral sobre el mundo empresarial y el académico. Durante las charlas las ponentes hicieron hincapié en su experiencia personal durante y después de su etapa universitaria. Se pidió a los alumnos participantes (35 estudiantes de diferentes ingenierías) que contestasen una encuesta anónima de retroalimentación después de atender a las clases magistrales especiales. La totalidad de los alumnos que contestaron a la encuesta quedaron satisfechos con la experiencia realizada, afirmaron que les había parecido útil para su formación y una inmensa mayoría aseveró haber mejorado su percepción de la asignatura.

[EN] We study the quantum motion of an impurity atom immersed in a Bose-Einstein condensate in arbitrary dimensions. It was shown, for all dimensions, that the Bogoliubov excitations of the Bose-Einstein condensate act as a bosonic bath for the impurity, where linear coupling is possible for a certain regime of validity, which was assessed only in one dimension. Here we present the detailed derivation of the d-dimensional Langevin equations that describe the quantum dynamics of the system, and of the associated generalized tensor that describes the spectral density in the full generality, and assesses the linear assumption in all dimensions. As results, we obtain, when the impurity is not trapped, the mean square displacement in all dimensions, showing that the motion is superdiffusive. We obtain also explicit expressions for the superdiffusive coefficient in the small and large temperature limits. We find that, in the latter case, the maximal value of this coefficient is the same in all dimensions, but is only reachable in one dimension, within the validity of the assumptions. We study also the behavior of the average energy and compare the results for various dimensions. In the trapped case, we study squeezing and find that the stronger position squeezing can be obtained in lower dimensions. We quantify the non-Markovianity of the particle's motion and find that it increases with dimensionality

[EN] KM3NeT is a research infrastructure being installed in the deep Mediterranean Sea. It will house a neutrino telescope comprising hundreds of networked moorings ¿ detection units or strings ¿ equipped with optical instrumentation to detect the Cherenkov radiation generated by charged particles from neutrino-induced collisions in its vicinity. In comparison to moorings typically used for oceanography, several key features of the KM3NeT string are di¿erent: the instrumentation is contained in transparent and thus unprotected glass spheres; two thin Dyneema® ropes are used as strength members; and a thin delicate backbone tube with ¿bre-optics and copper wires for data and power transmission, respectively, runs along the full length of the mooring. Also, compared to other neutrino telescopes such as ANTARES in the Mediterranean Sea and GVD in Lake Baikal, the KM3NeT strings are more slender to minimise the amount of material used for support of the optical sensors. Moreover, the rate of deploying a large number of strings in a period of a few years is unprecedented. For all these reasons, for the installation of the KM3NeT strings, a custom-made, fast deployment method was designed. Despite the length of several hundreds of metres, the slim design of the string allows it to be compacted into a small, re-usable spherical launching vehicle instead of deploying the mooring weight down from a surface vessel. After being lowered to the sea¿oor, the string unfurls to its full length with the buoyant launching vehicle rolling along the two ropes. The design of the vehicle, the loading with a string, and its underwater self-unrolling are detailed in this paper.

[EN] The KM3NeT research infrastructure is currently under construction at two locations in the Mediterranean Sea. The KM3NeT/ORCA water-Cherenkov neutrino detector off the French coast will instrument several megatons of seawater with photosensors. Its main objective is the determination of the neutrino mass ordering. This work aims at demonstrating the general applicability of deep convolutional neural networks to neutrino telescopes, using simulated datasets for the KM3NeT/ORCA detector as an example. To this end, the networks are employed to achieve reconstruction and classification tasks that constitute an alternative to the analysis pipeline presented for KM3NeT/ORCA in the KM3NeT Letter of Intent. They are used to infer event reconstruction estimates for the energy, the direction, and the interaction point of incident neutrinos. The spatial distribution of Cherenkov light generated by charged particles induced in neutrino interactions is classified as shower- or track-like, and the main background processes associated with the detection of atmospheric neutrinos are recognized. Performance comparisons to machine-learning classification and maximum-likelihood reconstruction algorithms previously developed for KM3NeT/ORCA are provided. It is shown that this application of deep convolutional neural networks to simulated datasets for a large-volume neutrino telescope yields competitive reconstruction results and performance improvements with respect to classical approaches.

[EN] The KM3NeT Collaboration runs a multi-site neutrino observatory in the Mediterranean Sea. Water Cherenkov particle detectors, deep in the sea and far off the coasts of France and Italy, are already taking data while incremental construction progresses. Data Acquisition Control software is operating off-shore detectors as well as testing and qualification stations for their components. The software, named Control Unit, is highly modular. It can undergo upgrades and reconfiguration with the acquisition running. Interplay with the central database of the Collaboration is obtained in a way that allows for data taking even if Internet links fail. In order to simplify the management of computing resources in the long term, and to cope with possible hardware failures of one or more computers, the KM3NeT Control Unit software features a custom dynamic resource provisioning and failover technology, which is especially important for ensuring continuity in case of rare transient events in multi-messenger astronomy. The software architecture relies on ubiquitous tools and broadly adopted technologies and has been successfully tested on several operating systems.

[EN] The gSeaGen code is a GENIE-based application developed to efficiently generate high statistics samples of events, induced by neutrino interactions, detectable in a neutrino telescope. The gSeaGen code is able to generate events induced by all neutrino flavours, considering topological differences between track-type and shower-like events. Neutrino interactions are simulated taking into account the density and the composition of the media surrounding the detector. The main features of gSeaGen are presented together with some examples of its application within the KM3NeT project. [EN] Two new classes of summing multilinear operators, factorable (q,p)-summing operators and (r;p,q)-summing operators are studied. These classes are described in terms of factorization. It is shown that operators in the first (resp., the second) class admit the factorization through the injective tensor product of Banach spaces (resp., through some Banach lattices). Applications in different contexts related to Grothendieck Theorem and Fourier integral bilinear operators are shown. Motivated by Pisier¿s Theorem on factorization of (q,1)-summing operators from C(K)-spaces through Lorentz spaces Lq,1 on some probability Borel measure spaces, we prove two variants of Pisier¿s Theorem for bilinear operators on the product of C(K)-spaces. We also prove bilinear versions of Mityagin¿Pe¿czy¿ski and Kislyakov Theorems.

[EN] In the presented studies an influence of different parameters, such as zeolite sample porosity, form of used iron source ([Fe-3(OAc)(6)O(H2O)(3)](+)oligocations or FeSO4 solutions) and method of iron species deposition (ion-exchange, impregnation), on the catalytic activity in the process of the selective catalytic oxidation of ammonia (NH3-SCO) was studied. Conventional and mesoporous ZSM-5 zeolites, obtained by desilication and modified with iron species, were analysed with respect to their textural, surface and crystalline properties (N-2-sorption, HRTEM, SEM, XRD) as well as the form of introduced Fe species (UV-vis-DRS). Ion-exchange with [Fe-3(OAc)(6)O (H2O)(3)](+) oligocations and impregnation with these oligocations and FeSO4 solutions were found as the most effective methods of the zeolite samples activation for NH3-SCO.

[EN] The main goal of the study was the development of effective catalysts for the low-temperature selective catalytic reduction of NO with ammonia (NH3-SCR), based on ferrierite (FER) and its delaminated (ITQ-6) and silica-intercalated (ITQ-36) forms modified with copper. The copper exchange zeolitic samples, with the intended framework Si/Al ratio of 30 and 50, were synthetized and characterized with respect to their chemical composition (ICP-OES), structure (XRD), texture (low-temperature N(2)adsorption), form and aggregation of deposited copper species (UV-vis-DRS), surface acidity (NH3-TPD) and reducibility (H-2-TPR). The samples of the Cu-ITQ-6 and Cu-ITQ-36 series were found to be significantly more active NH3-SCR catalysts compared to Cu-FER. The activity of these catalysts in low-temperature NH3-SCR was assigned to the significant contribution of highly dispersed copper species (monomeric cations and small oligomeric species) catalytically active in the oxidation of NO to NO(2,)which is necessary for fast-SCR. The zeolitic catalysts, with the higher framework alumina content, were more effective in high-temperature NH3-SCR due to their limited catalytic activity in the side reaction of ammonia oxidation.

The structural properties were determined by the simultaneous refinement of Synchrotron Powder X-ray Diffraction and Neutron Powder Diffraction data. Iodometric titration was used to examine the oxygen stoichiometry and average cobalt oxidation state. Low-temperature magnetic studies show soft ferromagnetic character of fully oxidized material, with theta(P) = 198(3) K and mu(eff) = 2.11(2) mu(B). Electric measurements show the thermally activated nature of conductivity at low temperatures, whereas, due to the variable oxidation and spin state of cobalt, a single charge transport mechanism cannot be distinguished. Around room temperature, a wide transition from thermally activated conductivity to semi-metallic behavior is observed. Under the inert atmosphere, the oxygen content lowers and the cation ordering takes place, leading to coexistence of two, ordered and disordered, phases. As a result of this change, thermally activated conductivity is observed also at high temperatures in inert atmosphere.

[EN] MCM-22, MCM-36, and ITQ-2 zeolites with the intended Si/Al molar ratios of 15, 25, and 50 were synthetized and tested as catalysts for dehydration of methanol to dimethyl ether and dehydration of ethanol to diethyl ether and ethylene. The surface concentration of acid sites was regulated by the synthesis of zeolite precursors with different aluminum content in the zeolite framework, while the influence of porous structure on the overall efficiency of alcohol conversion was analyzed by application of zeolitic materials with different types of porosity-microporous MCM-22 as well as microporous-mesoporous MCM-36 and ITQ-2. The zeolitic samples were characterized with respect to their: chemical composition (ICP-OES), structure (XRD, FT-IR), texture (N-2 sorption), and surface acidity (NH3-TPD). Comparison of the catalytic activity of the studied zeolitic catalysts with other reported catalytic systems, including zeolites with the similar Si/Al ratio as well as gamma-Al2O3 (one of the commercial catalysts for methanol dehydration), shows a great potential of MCM-22, MCM-36, and ITQ-2 in the reactions of alcohols dehydration.

[EN] Titanosilicate ferrierite zeolite (FER) and its delaminated form (ITQ-6), with various Si/Ti molar ratios, were synthetized and tested as catalysts for diphenyl sulfide (Ph2S) and dimethyl sulfide (DMS) oxidation with H2O2. The zeolites were characterized with respect to their chemical composition (ICP-OES), structure (XRD, UV-vis DRS) and texture (low-temperature N-2 adsorption-desorption). Titanium in the FER and ITQ-6 samples was present mainly in the zeolite framework with a significant contribution of titanium in the extraframework positions. Titanosilicate zeolites of FER and ITQ-6 series were found to be active catalysts of diphenyl and dimethyl sulfides oxidation by H2O2 to sulfoxides (Ph2SO/DMSO) and sulfones (Ph2SO2/DMSO2). The efficiency of these reactions depends on the porous structure of the zeolite catalysts - conversion of larger molecules of diphenyl sulfide was significantly higher in the presence of delaminated zeolite Ti-ITQ-6 due to the possibility of the interlayer mesopores penetration by reactants. On the other side diphenyl sulfide molecules are too large to be accommodated into micropores of FER zeolite. The efficiency of dimethyl sulfide conversion, due to relatively small size of this molecule, was similar in the presence of Ti-FER and Ti-ITQ-6 zeolites. For all catalysts, the organic sulfide conversion was significantly intensified under UV irradiation. It was suggested that Ti cations in the zeolite framework, as well as in the extraframework, species play a role of the single site photocatalysts active in the formation of hydroxyl radicals, which are known to be effective oxidants of the organic sulfides.

[EN] In order to study transport in complex environments, it is extremely important to determine the physical mechanism underlying diffusion and precisely characterize its nature and parameters. Often, this task is strongly impacted by data consisting of trajectories with short length (either due to brief recordings or previous trajectory segmentation) and limited localization precision. In this paper, we propose a machine learning method based on a random forest architecture, which is able to associate single trajectories to the underlying diffusion mechanism with high accuracy. In addition, the algorithm is able to determine the anomalous exponent with a small error, thus inherently providing a classification of the motion as normal or anomalous (sub- or super-diffusion). The method provides highly accurate outputs even when working with very short trajectories and in the presence of experimental noise. We further demonstrate the application of transfer learning to experimental and simulated data not included in the training/test dataset. This allows for a full, high-accuracy characterization of experimental trajectories without the need of any prior information.

[EN] In the present study, an influence of the iron aggregation in conventional and micro-mesoporous MFI on their catalytic activity in the NO reduction with ammonia (DeNO(x) process) was studied. Modification of MFI zeolite properties was done by the desilication in the presence of NaOH and TPAOH (tertapropylammonium hydroxide). In the next step, the samples were modified with iron by ion-exchange with the use of a conventional solution of Fe cations (FeSO4) and a solution of iron triple-metallic aggregates (oligocations) ([Fe-3(OAc)(6)O(H2O)(3)](+)). Both of the applied modification techniques (desilication and modification with Fe-3 oligocations) increased the catalytic activity of the MFI zeolite in the DeNO(x) process. This increased catalytic activity was connected with changes in sample porosity, Si/Al ratio, topology, as well as aggregation and dispersion of iron species on the catalyst surface, which was investigated by N-2-sorption, XRD, ICP, NMR, HRTEM and UV-vis-DRS techniques.

[EN] Ferrierites and their delaminated forms (ITQ-6), containing aluminum or titanium in the zeolite framework, were synthetized and modified with copper by an ion-exchange method. The obtained samples were characterized with respect to their chemical composition (ICP-OES), structure (XRD, UV-Vis DRS), textural parameters (N-2-sorption), surface acidity (NH3-TPD), form and reducibility of deposited copper species (UV-Vis DRS and H-2-TPR). Ferrierites and delaminated ITQ-6 zeolites modified with copper were studied as catalysts for the selective catalytic oxidation of ammonia to dinitrogen (NH3-SCO). It was shown that aggregated copper oxide species, which were preferentially formed on Ti-zeolites, were catalytically active in direct low-temperature ammonia oxidation to NO, while copper introduced into Al-zeolites was present mainly in the form of monomeric copper cations catalytically active in selective reduction of NO by ammonia to dinitrogen. It was postulated that ammonia oxidation in the presence of the studied catalysts proceeds according to the internal-selective catalytic reduction mechanism (i-SCR) and therefore the suitable ratio between aggregated copper oxide species and monomeric copper cations is necessary to obtain active and selective catalysts for the NH3-SCO process. Cu/Al-ITQ-6 presented the best catalytic properties possibly due to the most optimal ratio of these copper species.

[EN] KM3NeT is a research infrastructure located in the Mediterranean Sea, that will consist of two deep-sea Cherenkov neutrino detectors. With one detector (ARCA), the KM3NeT Collaboration aims at identifying and studying TeV¿PeV astrophysical neutrino sources. With the other detector (ORCA), the neutrino mass ordering will be determined by studying GeV-scale atmospheric neutrino oscillations. The first KM3NeT detection units were deployed at the Italian and French sites between 2015 and 2017. In this paper, a description of the detector is presented, together with a summary of the procedures used to calibrate the detector in-situ. Finally, the measurement of the atmospheric muon flux between 2232¿3386 m seawater depth is obtained.

[EN] We study the diffusive behavior of a Bose polaron immersed in a coherently coupled two-component Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC). We assume a uniform, one-dimensional BEC. Polaron superdiffuses if it couples in the same manner to both components, i.e. either attractively or repulsively to both of them. This is the same behavior as that of an impurity immersed in a single BEC. Conversely, the polaron exhibits a transient nontrivial subdiffusive behavior if it couples attractively to one of the components and repulsively to the other. The anomalous diffusion exponent and the duration of the subdiffusive interval can be controlled with the Rabi frequency of the coherent coupling between the two components, and with the coupling strength of the impurity to the BEC.

[EN] We prove that under adequate geometric requirements, translation invariant mappings between vector-valued quasi-Banach function spaces on a locally compact group G have a bounded extension between Kothe-Bochner spaces L-r (G, E). The class of mappings for which our results apply includes polynomials and multilinear operators. We develop an abstract approach based on some new tools as abstract convolution and matching among Banach function lattices, and also on some classical techniques as Maurey-Rosenthal factorization of operators. As a by-product we show when Haar measures which appear in certain factorization theorems for nonlinear mappings are in fact Pietsch measures. [EN] Adsorption of n-alkanes from pentane to decane (C5¿C10) in zeolites LTA (ITQ-29 and 5A) and faujasite (FAU, dealuminated high-silica Na-FAU, NaY, and NaX) as well as branched hexane isomers in FAU was investigated by means of experimental quasi-equilibrated temperature-programmed desorption and adsorption (QE-TPDA) and theoretical Monte Carlo molecular simulations. A novel QE-TPDA method of studying porosity provided high-quality desorption¿adsorption profiles and adsorption isobars of hydrocarbons. A unique two-step adsorption of long-chain alkanes in LTA zeolites was observed and explained in detail based on the results of the theoretical calculations. Although adsorption of n-alkanes in FAU is a one-step process, it also does not occur in a uniform manner because of strong lateral interactions at high loadings. We also investigated the influence of cation content on adsorption equilibrium and energetics for the studied adsorbent¿adsorbate systems, finding a nonlinear relation between heat of adsorption and content of cations in FAU. Investigations on packing of the molecules of n-alkanes were also performed, revealing relations between chain length of the probe molecule and sorption capacity of the studied materials.

[EN] We show that a system of three trapped ultracold and strongly interacting atoms in one-dimension can be emulated using an optical fiber with a graded-index profile and thin metallic slabs. While the wave-nature of single quantum particles leads to direct and well known analogies with classical optics, for interacting many-particle systems with unrestricted statistics such analoga are not straightforward. Here we study the symmetries present in the fiber eigenstates by using discrete group theory and show that, by spatially modulating the incident field, one can select the atomic statistics, i.e., emulate a system of three bosons, fermions or two bosons or fermions plus an additional distinguishable particle. We also show that the optical system is able to produce classical non-separability resembling that found in the analogous atomic system.

[EN] A vortex in a Bose-Einstein condensate on a ring undergoes quantum dynamics in response to a quantum quench in terms of partial symmetry breaking from a uniform lattice to a biperiodic one. Neither the current, a macroscopic measure, nor fidelity, a microscopic measure, exhibit critical behavior. Instead, the symmetry memory succeeds in identifying the critical symmetry breaking at which the system begins to forget its initial symmetry state. We further identify a symmetry energy difference in the low lying excited states which trends with the symmetry memory.

[EN] In the presented study, H-Beta zeolite and H-Beta/meso (mesoporous Beta zeolite obtained by a mesotemplate-free method) were modified with Fe-3, Fe2Cr, FeCr2 and Cr-3 triple-metallic aggregates (oligocations) by ion-exchange method (for comparison modification with isolated Fe cations was also done). Successful synthesis of mesoporous Beta zeolite was confirmed by several techniques such as N-2-sorption, PXRD, AAS or NH3-TPD. Modified porosity and acidity of the Beta zeolite, as well as the source of metals used, influenced the form (coordination and aggregation), content and reducibility of Fe- and Cr-species in the samples (UV-vis-DRS, AAS, H-2-TPR). The obtained samples were tested as catalysts in the process of selective catalytic oxidation of ammonia to dinitrogen (NH3-SCO). The highest activity and selectivity for nitrogen was obtained for the bimetallic Fe-Cr samples prepared by deposition of suitable oligocations.

[EN] The KM3NeT research infrastructure being built at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea will host water-Cherenkov telescopes for the detection of cosmic neutrinos. The neutrino telescopes will consist of large volume three-dimensional grids of optical modules to detect the Cherenkov light from charged particles produced by neutrino-induced interactions. Each optical module houses 31 3-in. photomultiplier tubes, instrumentation for calibration of the photomultiplier signal and positioning of the optical module, and all associated electronics boards. By design, the total electrical power consumption of an optical module has been capped at seven Watts. We present an overview of the front-end and readout electronics system inside the optical module, which has been designed for a 1-ns synchronization between the clocks of all optical modules in the grid during a life time of at least 20 years.

[EN] Consider two continuous linear operators T: X-1 (mu) -> Y-1 (nu) and S: X-2 (mu) -> Y-2 (nu) between Banach function spaces related to different sigma-finite measures mu and nu. By means of weighted norm inequalities we characterize when T can be strongly factored through S, that is, when there exist functions g and h such that T(f) = gS(hf) for all f is an element of X-1 (mu). For the case of spaces with Schauder basis, our characterization can be improved, as we show when S is, for instance, the Fourier or Cesar operator. Our aim is to study the case where the map T is besides injective. Then we say that it is a representing operator-in the sense that it allows us to represent each element of the Banach function space X (mu) by a sequence of generalized Fourier coefficients-providing a complete characterization of these maps in terms of weighted norm inequalities. We also provide some examples and applications involving recent results on the Hausdorff-Young and the Hardy-Littlewood inequalities for operators on weighted Banach function spaces.

[EN] This paper reports the activity of different Ce-BEA zeolites for the catalytic oxidation of trichloroethylene and it is focused on determining the nature of the catalyst active sites. The study was made by using a microporous zeolite BEA, two types of desilicated BEA zeolites and mildly steamed desilicated BEA zeolites. The catalysts were prepared by introducing Ce to the zeolites with incipient wetness impregnation and their structural, textural, and acidic properties were established. The evolution of TCE conversion was correlated with the physicochemical properties of the zeolites. It is shown that highly developed mesopore surface area, well-dispersed cerium species and a high number of Bronsted sites results in the highest activity. The activity and selectivity of the Ce-loaded zeolites were found to be dependent on the number of high strength Bronsted acid centres. The hierarchical materials with a higher density of hydroxyls showed higher yields to HCl while the formation of chlorine was prevented.

[EN] Astrophysical sources of gravitational waves, such as binary neutron star and black hole mergers or core-collapse supernovae, can drive relativistic outflows, giving rise to non-thermal high-energy emission. High-energy neutrinos are signatures of such outflows. The detection of gravitational waves and high-energy neutrinos from common sources could help establish the connection between the dynamics of the progenitor and the properties of the out¿ow. We searched for associated emission of gravitational waves and high-energy neutrinos from astrophysical transients with minimal assumptions using data from Advanced LIGO from its first observing run O1, and data from the ANTARES and IceCube neutrino observatories from the same time period. We focused on candidate events whose astrophysical origins could not be determined from a single messenger. We found no significant coincident candidate, which we used to constrain the rate density of astrophysical sources dependent on their gravitational-wave and neutrino emission processes.

[EN] Recent theoretical and experimental progress on studying one-dimensional systems of bosonic, fermionic, and Bose-Fermi mixtures of a few ultracold atoms confined in traps is reviewed in the broad context of mesoscopic quantum physics. We pay special attention to limiting cases of very strong or very weak interactions and transitions between them. For bosonic mixtures, we describe the developments in systems of three and four atoms as well as different extensions to larger numbers of particles. We also briefly review progress in the case of spinor Bose gases of a few atoms. For fennionic mixtures, we discuss a special role of spin and present a detailed discussion of the two- and three-atom cases. We discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different computation methods applied to systems with intermediate interactions. In the case of very strong repulsion, close to the infinite limit, we discuss approaches based on effective spin chain descriptions. We also report on recent studies on higher-spin mixtures and inter-component attractive forces. For both statistics, we pay particular attention to impurity problems and mass imbalance cases. Finally, we describe the recent advances on trapped Bose-Fermi mixtures, which allow for a theoretical combination of previous concepts, well illustrating the importance of quantum statistics and inter-particle interactions. Lastly, we report on fundamental questions related to the subject which we believe will inspire further theoretical developments and experimental verification.

[EN] We investigate the heat transport and the control of heat current among two spatially separated trapped Bose-Einstein Condensates (BECs), each of them at a different temperature. To allow for heat transport among the two independent BECs we consider a link made of two harmonically trapped impurities, each of them interacting with one of the BECs. Since the impurities are spatially separated, we consider long-range interactions between them, namely a dipole-dipole coupling. We study this system under theoretically suitable and experimentally feasible assumptions/parameters. The dynamics of these impurities is treated within the framework of the quantum Brownian motion model, where the excitation modes of the BECs play the role of the heat bath. We address the dependence of heat current and current-current correlations on the physical parameters of the system. Interestingly, we show that heat rectification, i.e. the unidirectional flow of heat, can occur in our system, when a periodic driving on the trapping frequencies of the impurities is considered. Therefore, our system is a possible setup for the implementation of a phononic circuit. Motivated by recent developments on the usage of BECs as platforms for quantum information processing, our work offers an alternative possibility to use this versatile setting for information transfer and processing, within the context of phononics, and more generally in quantum thermodynamics.

[EN] We study the random walk of a particle in a compartmentalized environment, as realized in biological samples or solid state compounds. Each compartment is characterized by its length L and the boundaries transmittance T. We identify two relevant spatio-temporal scales that provide alternative descriptions of the dynamics: (i) the microscale, in which the particle position is monitored at constant time intervals; and (ii) the mesoscale, in which it is monitored only when the particle crosses a boundary between compartments. Both descriptions provide-by construction-the same long time behavior. The analytical description obtained at the proposed mesoscale allows for a complete characterization of the complex movement at the microscale, thus representing a fruitful approach for this kind of systems. We show that the presence of disorder in the transmittance is a necessary condition to induce anomalous diffusion, whereas the spatial heterogeneity reduces the degree of subdiffusion and, in some cases, can even compensate for the disorder induced by the stochastic transmittance.

[EN] KM3NeT will be a network of deep-sea neutrino telescopes in the Mediterranean Sea. The KM3NeT/ARCA detector, to be installed at the Capo Passero site (Italy), is optimised for the detection of highenergy neutrinos of cosmic origin. Thanks to its geographical location on the Northern hemisphere, KM3NeT/ARCA can observe upgoing neutrinos from most of the Galactic Plane, including the Galactic Centre. Given its effective area and excellent pointing resolution, KM3NeT/ARCA will measure or significantly constrain the neutrino flux from potential astrophysical neutrino sources. At the same time, it will test flux predictions based on gamma-ray measurements and the assumption that the gamma-ray flux is of hadronic origin. Assuming this scenario, discovery potentials and sensitivities for a selected list of Galactic sources and to generic point sources with an E ¿2 spectrum are presented. These spectra are assumed to be time inde- pendent. The results indicate that an observation with 3 ¿significance is possible in about six years of operation for the most intense sources, such as Supernovae Remnants RX J1713.7-3946 and Vela Jr. If no signal will be found during this time, the fraction of the gamma-ray flux coming from hadronic processes can be constrained to be below 50% for these two objects.

[EN] We study entanglement and squeezing of two uncoupled impurities immersed in a Bose-Einstein condensate. We treat them as two quantum Brownian particles interacting with a bath composed of the Bogoliubov modes of the condensate. The Langevin-like quantum stochastic equations derived exhibit memory effects. We study two scenarios: (i) In the absence of an external potential, we observe sudden death of entanglement; (ii) In the presence of an external harmonic potential, entanglement survives even at the asymptotic time limit. Our study considers experimentally tunable parameters

[EN] We introduce a novel minimally disturbing method for sub-nK thermometry in a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC). Our technique is based on the Bose polaron model; namely, an impurity embedded in the BEC acts as the thermometer. We propose to detect temperature fluctuations from measurements of the position and momentum of the impurity. Crucially, these cause minimal backaction on the BEC and hence, realize a nondemolition temperature measurement. Following the paradigm of the emerging field of quantum thermometry, we combine tools from quantum parameter estimation and the theory of open quantum systems to solve the problem in full generality. We thus avoid any simplification, such as demanding thermalization of the impurity atoms, or imposing weak dissipative interactions with the BEC. Our method is illustrated with realistic experimental parameters common in many labs, thus showing that it can compete with state-of-the-art destructive techniques, even when the estimates are built from the outcomes of accessible (suboptimal) quadrature measurements.

[EN] Performance of an Active Noise Control (ANC) system strongly depends on sensors and actuators spatial arrangement. It determines both achieved Noise Reduction (NR) levels and spatial distribution of obtained zones of quiet, making it an essential problem. However, if the acoustic field in the enclosure can be appropriately modelled, then optimization algorithms can be employed to find efficient configuration of the ANC system, enhancing its performance according to a formulated cost function and constraints. This paper proposes a complete method for enhancing NR levels and shaping zones of quiet generated with an ANC system by optimization of sensors and actuators arrangement. A Memetic Algorithm (MA) is utilized. The MA itself and its proposed operators are described. The optimization problem formulation is derived and discussed. As a control algorithm, Distributed Multiple Error Filtered-x Least Mean Square (DMEFxLMS) is used. Extensive simulation results are presented for an exemplary real enclosure. The model of the acoustic environment has been obtained by real-world experiments, resulting in identification of 36864 acoustic responses in total. Practically feasible cost function and constraints are evaluated. Advantages and limits of the method are pointed out and discussed.

[EN] An explicit construction for the representation of the Calderón interpolation of spaces of vector measure integrable functions is given as well as for the representation of the real interpolation of these spaces using the K-functional. In order to do this, we introduce a technique based on interpolation of function valued matrices. For the real interpolation, we develop a vector-valued version of the K-functional having values in `¿-spaces, providing in this way a new procedure for the study of the interpolation of general Banach lattices.

[EN] Tomato black ring virus (TBRV) is the only member of the Nepovirus genus that is known to form defective RNA particles (D RNAs) during replication. Here, de novo generation of D RNAs was observed during prolonged passages of TBRV isolates originated from Solanum lycopersicum and Lactuca sativa in Chenopodium quinoa plants. D RNAs of about 500 nt derived by a single deletion in the RNA1 molecule and contained a portion of the 5' untranslated region and viral replicase, and almost the entire 3' non coding region. Short regions of sequence complementarity were found at the 5' and 3' junction borders, which can facilitate formation of the D RNAs. Moreover, in this study we analyzed the effects of D RNAs on TBRV replication and symptoms development of infected plants. C. quinoa, S. lycopersicum, Nicotiana tabacum, and L. sativa were infected with the original TBRV isolates (TBRV-D RNA) and those containing additional D RNA particles (TBRV + D RNA). The viral accumulation in particular hosts was measured up to 28 days post inoculation by RT-qPCR. Statistical analyses revealed that D RNAs interfere with TBRV replication and thus should be referred to as defective interfering particles. The magnitude of the interference effect depends on the interplay between TBRV isolate and host species.

[EN] The main purpose of this paper is the study of a new class of summing mul-tilinear operators acting from the product of Banach lattices with some nontrivial lattice convexity. A mixed Pietsch-Maurey-Rosenthal type factorization theorem for these opera-tors is proved under weaker convexity requirements than the ones that are needed in the Maurey-Rosenthal factorization through products of Lq-spaces. A by-product of our fac-torization is an extension of multilinear operators de¿ned by a q-concavity type property to a product of special Banach function lattices which inherit some lattice-geometric prop-erties of the domain spaces, as order continuity and p-convexity. Factorization through Fremlin¿s tensor products is also analyzed. Applications are presented to study a special class of linear operators between Banach function lattices that can be characterized by a strong version of q-concavity. This class contains q-dominated operators, and so the obtained results provide a new factorization theorem for operators from this class.

[EN] In spatial, social and cultural pluralism, the questions of human intentionality and socio-spatial emergence remain central to social theory (Portugali 2000, p.142). The correlation between individual preferences, values and intentions, and actual behaviour and actions, is subject to Portugali’s theory of self-organisation (2000). Compared to Gidden’s structuralism, which focuses on society and groups, the point of departure for Portugali (2000) are individuals and their personal choices. The key feature in how complex systems `self-organise', is that they `interpret', the information that comes from the environment (Portugali 2006). The current study explores the urban environment formerly inhabited, and largely constructed, by Jews in two central Polish districts: Mazovia and Lodz, before the tragedy of the Holocaust. While the Jewish presence lasted from the 11th century until the outbreak of World War II, the most intensive development took place in the 19th century, together with the civilisation changes introduced by industrialisation. Embracing the everyday habits of Jewish citizens endows the neighbourhood structures they once inhabited with long gone meanings, the information layer which once helped organise everyday life. The main thesis reveals that Jewish communities in pre-war Poland represented an example of a self-organising society, one which could be considered a prototype of contemporary postmodern cultural complexity. The mapping of this complexity at the scale of a neighbourhood is a challenge, a method for which is addressed in the current paper. The above considerations are in line with the empirical studies of the relations between Jews and Poles, especially in large cities, where more complex socio-cultural processes could have occurred.

[EN] A combination of high power airborne ultrasound and microwaves in hot air drying was developed to investigate the effect of intermittent mode on process effectiveness and quality of carrot. The drying experiments were carried out in an innovative hybrid dryer. The course of moisture ratio, drying rate, specific energy and water consumption, colour, water activity and shrinkage were discussed. The results showed that intermittent ultrasound and microwaves in convective drying accelerate the heat and mass transfer, leading to shorter drying time and faster drying rate. It was found that hybrid-intermittent drying can improve the energy efficiency and product quality.

[EN] The studies present convective drying of parsley with an intermittent microwave application. Eight different drying programs including convective drying (CV) were carried out in a laboratory-scale hybrid dryer. The influence of intermittent conditions on drying time, drying rate, energy efficiency and product quality was analysed. The results demonstrated that intermittent–microwave convective drying improves the drying kinetics and reduces energy consumption. Moreover, a higher retention of vitamin C, smaller color change and a better ability to rehydration were observed for the parsley samples dried using intermittent drying than for CV.

[EN] We study factorization of operators between quasi-Banach spaces. We prove the equivalence between certain vector norm inequalities and the factorization of operators through Orlicz spaces. As a consequence, we obtain the Maurey-Rosenthal factorization of operators into L-p-spaces. We give several applications. In particular, we prove a variant of Maurey's Extension Theorem.

[EN] In this paper the spectrum of composition operators on the space of real analytic functions is investigated. In some cases it is completely determined while in some other cases it is only estimated.

[EN] In the presented manuscript an influence of the mesoporosity generation in commercial ZSM-5 zeolite on its catalytic performance in two environmental processes, such as NO reduction with ammonia (NH3SCR, Selective Catalytic Reduction of NO with NH3) and NH3 oxidation (NH3-SCO, Selective Catalytic Oxidation of NH3) was examined. Micro-mesoporous catalysts with the properties of ZSM-5 zeolite were obtained by desilication with NaOH and NaOH/TPAOH (tetrapropylammonium hydroxide) mixture with different ratios (TPA+/OH- = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and infinity) and for different durations (1, 2, 4 and 6 h). The results of the catalytic studies (over the Cu-exchanged samples) showed higher activity of this novel mesostructured group of zeolitic materials. Enhanced catalytic performance was related to the generated mesoporosity (improved Hierarchy Factor (HF) of the samples), that was observed especially with the use of Pore Directing Agent (PDA) additive, TPAOH. Applied desilication conditions did not influence significantly the crystallinity of the samples (X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD)), despite the treatment for 6 h in NaOH solution, which was found to be too severe to preserve the zeolitic properties of the samples. The modified porous structure and accessibility of acid sites (increased surface acidity determined by temperature programmed desorption of ammonia (NH3-TPD)) influenced the red-ox properties of copper species introduced by ion-exchange method (temperature programmed reduction with hydrogen (H-2-TPR). Increased acidity of the micro-mesoporous samples, as well as the content of easily reducible copper species resulted in a significant improvement of Cu-ZSM-5 catalytic efficiency in the NH3-SCR and NH3-SCO processes. [EN] This research presents the group of green vehicle routing problems with environmental costs translated into money versus production of noise, pollution and fuel consumption. This research is focused on multi-objective green logistics optimization. Optimality criteria are environmental costs: minimization of amount of money paid as externality cost for noise, pollution and costs of fuel versus minimization of noise, pollution and fuel consumption themselves. Some mixed integer programming formulations of multi-criteria vehicle routing problems have been considered. Mathematical models were formulated under assumption of existence of asymmetric distance-based costs and use of homogeneous fleet. The exact solution methods are applied for finding optimal solutions. The software used to solve these models is the CPLEX solver with AMPL programming language. The researchers were able to use real data from a Spanish company of groceries. Problems deal with green logistics for routes crossing the Spanish regions of Navarre, Basque Country and La Rioja. Analyses of obtained results could help logistics managers to lead the initiative in area of green logistics by saving money paid for environmental costs as well as direct cost of fuel and minimization of pollution and noise.

[EN] The structural, textural and acidic characteristics of hierarchical ZSM-5 (Si/Al = 18¿32), obtained with two desilication approaches, and the effect of these treatments on the reactivity in various cracking reactions of variable feedstock size and severity have been investigated. Emphasis is given to understanding the accessibility of acid sites; this was investigated by textural analysis, FTIR probe molecules (pyridine, trimethylacetonitrile and 2,4,6-trimethylpyridine) and reactions involving n-decane, 1,3,5-triisopropylbenzene (TIPB), and low and high-density polyethylene, LDPE and HDPE, respectively. Higher surface areas and a narrower pore size distribution were obtained for NaOH&TBAOH-treated materials, comparing to NaOH-treated ones. FTIR studies of pivalonitrile and collidine adsorption correlate well with the mesopore surface area. For n-decane cracking activity, the acid strength is a determining factor, revealing that the NaOH&TBAOH treatment gave stronger sites than NaOH, but lower than the native zeolite. In contrast, the TIPB cracking activity was improved by the developed mesoporosity of the alkaline treated zeolites, and this was correlated to the pivalonitrile and collidine accessibility factors. During the n-decane and TIPB cracking, hydrogen transfer reactions were reduced, leading to high olefin production for the NaOH&TBAOH materials due to the shorter microporous paths after desilication. The increased accessibility of the acid sites also leads to an enhanced cracking activity of polyethylenes at low conversions, as determined by a decrease in the T5% and T50%; both parameters are linearly dependent on the pivalonitrile and collidine accessibility factors, for LDPE and HDPE. The T5% for HDPE is more influenced by the accessibility factors than it is for the LDPE. [EN] This research concerns multi-criteria vehicle routing problems. Mathematical models are formulated with mixed-integer programming. We consider maximization of capacity of truck vs. minimization of utilization of fuel, carbon emission and production of noise. The problems deal with green logistics for routes crossing the Western Pyrenees in Navarre, Basque Country and La Rioja, Spain. We consider heterogeneous fleet of trucks. Different types of trucks have not only different capacities, but also require different amounts of fuel for operations. Consequently, the amount of carbon emission and noise vary as well. Companies planning delivery routes must consider the trade-off between the financial and environmental aspects of transportation. Efficiency of delivery routes is impacted by truck size and the possibility of dividing long delivery routes into smaller ones. The results of computational experiments modeled after real data from a Spanish food distribution company are reported. Computational results based on formulated optimization models show some balance between fleet size, truck types, utilization of fuel, carbon emission and production of noise. As a result, the company could consider a mixture of trucks sizes and divided routes for smaller trucks. Analyses of obtained results could help logistics managers lead the initiative in environmental conservation by saving fuel and consequently minimizing pollution.

[EN] The location of redox couples in transition metal compounds is among the key factors that determine their applicability. AM2(PO4)3 NASICONs (A ¿ Na, Li; M ¿ Ti, Zr, Hf, Ge, Sn, Fe, ¿) form an intriguing group that feature fast ion diffusion and tunable reduction/oxidation potentials and can therefore find numerous applications. The present study focuses on the LiTi2(PO4)3 member of this family and the possibility of controlling its transport and redox properties. It highlights the close relationship between the modification of the crystal and band structures via substitutions in the Ti sublattice or intercalation with lithium and its redox behaviour as well as transport properties. The correlation between ionic conductivity and the position of the Ti4þ/Ti3þ redox potential is discussed. UV-VIS reflectance spectra revealed a significant impact of the type of dopant as well as the level of intercalation on the position of the fundamental absorption edge, indicating the possibility of modifying the electronic structure. In the case of some of the examined dopants (Nb, Sn, In), more complex interaction was observed, since they introduce their own redox activity, and thus enable the material's behaviour to be modified even further.

[EN] The NEutron Detector Array (NEDA) project aims at the construction of a new high-efficiency compact neutron detector array to be coupled with large gamma-ray arrays such as AGATA. The application of NEDA ranges from its use as selective neutron multiplicity filter for fusion-evaporation reaction to a large solid angle neutron tagging device. In the present work, possible configurations for the NEDA coupled with the Neutron Wall for the early implementation with AGATA has been simulated, using Monte Carlo techniques, in order to evaluate their performance figures. The goal of this early NEDA implementation is to improve, with respect to previous instruments, efficiency and capability to select multiplicity for fusion-evaporation reaction channels in which 1, 2 or 3 neutrons are emitted. Each NEDA detector unit has the shape of a regular hexagonal prism with a volume of about 3.23 l and it is filled with the EJ301 liquid scintillator, that presents good neutron-gamma discrimination properties. The simulations have been performed using a fusion-evaporation event generator that has been validated with a set of experimental data obtained in the Ni-58 + Fe-56 reaction measured with the Neutron Wall detector array.

[EN] Protein phosphatases 2C (PP2Cs) are important regulators of plant responses to abiotic stress. It is established that clade A PP2Cs inhibit ABA-activated SNF1-related protein kinases 2 (SnRK2s). Our recently published results show that ABI1, a member of clade A of PP2C is also a negative regulator of SnRK2.4, a kinase not activated in response to ABA. Here, we show that another member of this clade - PP2CA, interacts with and inhibits SnRK2.4. The salt-induced SnRK2.4/SnRK2.10 activity is higher in abi1-2 pp2ca-1 mutant than in wild type or single abi1 or pp2ca mutants, indicating that both phosphatases are inhibitors of SnRK2.4 and are at least partially redundant. Moreover, PP2CA together with ABI1 and SnRK2.4 regulates root growth in response to salinity.

Background: SNF1-related protein kinases 2 (SnRK2s) are key regulators of the plant response to osmotic stress. They are transiently activated in response to drought and salinity. Based on a phylogenetic analysis SnRK2s are divided into three groups. The classification correlates with their response to abscisic acid (ABA); group 1 consists SnRK2s non-activated in response to ABA, group 2, kinases non-activated or weakly activated (depending on the plant species) by ABA treatment, and group 3, ABA-activated kinases. The activity of all SnRK2s is regulated by phosphorylation. It is well established that clade A phosphoprotein phosphatases 2C (PP2Cs) are negative regulators of ABA-activated SnRK2s, whereas regulators of SnRK2s from group 1 remain unidentified. Results: Here, we show that ABI1, a PP2C clade A phosphatase, interacts with SnRK2.4, member of group 1 of the SnRK2 family, dephosphorylates Ser158, whose phosphorylation is needed for the kinase activity, and inhibits the kinase, both in vitro and in vivo. Our data indicate that ABI1 and the kinase regulate primary root growth in response to salinity; the phenotype of ABI1 knockout mutant (abi1td) exposed to salt stress is opposite to that of the snrk2.4 mutant. Moreover, we show that the activity of SnRK2s from group 1 is additionally regulated by okadaic acid-sensitive phosphatase(s) from the phosphoprotein phosphatase (PPP) family. Conclusions: Phosphatase ABI1 and okadaic acid-sensitive phosphatases of the PPP family are negative regulators of salt stress-activated SnRK2.4. The results show that ABI1 inhibits not only the ABA-activated SnRK2s but also at least one ABA-non-activated SnRK2, suggesting that the phosphatase is involved in the cross talk between ABA-dependent and ABA-independent stress signaling pathways in plants.
