6. Highly efficient reconfigurable double dual quadratic boost converter.

Abstract

This article synthesises a Double Dual Quadratic Boost (DDQB) converter from a conventional quadratic boost converter. The DDQB’s working principle and steady-state analysis are investigated. The dynamic performance of the DDQB converter is analysed and studied thoroughly. The superiority of the proposed converter is highlighted by comparing it with similar topologies reported in the literature. The advantages of the double dual concept in dc–dc converters over cascaded dc–dc converters are highlighted regarding component stress and power loss reduction. Furthermore, the proposed topology has a low switch count, reduced stresses, and enhanced overall efficiency. The DDQB converter’s gain is eight times for duty cycle D = 0.528 with switch voltage stress of 4.48 times of input voltage, which is not equal to the output voltage of a traditional quadratic boost converter. Additionally, the reconfigured converter with fault-tolerant capability is proposed. In this restructured configuration, single-degree redundancy is studied and analysed for the malfunction of the output capacitor. The performance of restructured configuration is validated in simulation and its reliability is compared with the DDQB converter. Experimentation on a 50 W scaled-down prototype configuration validates the proposed high-gain DDQB topology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

DC-DC converter occupies most of the recent power supply unit. Researchers concentrate on analyzing the steady-state and dynamic model of the converter. The State-Space Averaging (SSA) and Switching Flow Graph (SFG) modeling methods are evaluated for the quadratic boost converter. These methods are evaluated by mathematical computation and derivation of transfer functions. Computation of transfer functions by state-space averaging requires tedious matrix operations. However, the switching flow graph modeling method requires a simple signal flow graph of the converter which can be used to derive the transfer functions using mason's gain formula. Reviews of both the methods are offered with complete theoretical derivation for quadratic boost DC-DC converter. Simulation of the quadratic boost converter is carried out with Tina software and the results are presented. In addition to that, stability study and controller design are carried out in MATLAB to validate the theoretical results. Abstract

This paper discusses the incorporation of relift Luo converters for vehicles’ front lighting purpose. As the technology is improved, there is an immediate need to improvise the efficiency and attractiveness of front lighting systems of the next generation automobiles. Therefore, the use of Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting systems is highly recommended to facelift the luminance and its efficiency rather than conventional ways. In this work, we compared two relift Luo converters to choose a suitable topology for the above-mentioned application. All the modern equipment relies on power conditioning system to improve the efficiency and longevity of the system. Hence, it is required to analyze dc-dc converter topologies and its performance. Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of triple-port non isolated dc-dc converter for Energy Harvesting Systems. With this topology, solar energy is harvested, and the energy is stored in the battery. This converter is extended to the multiport dc-dc converter. Here, multiple sources of energy, namely photovoltaic cell and battery are used to supply the load requirements using a single buck-boost converter. Different operational modes of the converter are explained in detail. This converter shown in this paper is used to step up the input power as well as step down depending on the load power demand. The converter uses three ports-one bidirectional port for the battery and two unidirectional ports for the PV Panel and Load. Simulation of the triple port DC-DC converter for all the modes is carried out, and the resultant output waveforms are presented.
