The present paper briefly elaborates upon the combination of waste palm and waste sunflower oil methyl ester as post-mixed biodiesel blends being injected into a four-stroke compression ignition engine, which is also fueled with inducted bamboo leaf generated producer gas (BLP.gas) that includes gaseous components of CO (carbon monoxide), H 2 (hydrogen), CH 4 (methane), and C x H y (hydrocarbons). The objective of the present research is to evaluate the overall performance, emission, and combustion behavior of a Kirloskar TAF1 modified dual-fuel diesel engine fueled with induced bamboo leaf-derived gaseous fuel at a fixed mass flow rate of 21.69 kg/h and injected mixed biodiesel-diesel blends. Initially, diesel fuel and post-mixed methyl ester were examined in dual-fuel mode with a fixed gas flow rate for different loads. It can be seen from the analysis that brake thermal efficiency got reduced by 4.66% and brake-specific fuel consumption increased by 5.26% for PMOME20 (20% post-mixed oil methyl ester + 80% diesel fuel) + BLP. gas with respect to diesel fuel at extreme loading conditions. Moreover, smoke opacity, carbon monoxide, and unburnt hydrocarbons were reduced by 11.22%, 20.44%, and 10.36%, respectively. On the other hand, oxides of nitrogen were reduced by 19.17% at maximum load for PMOME20 + BLP. gas in dual-fuel operation in contrast to that of petroleum diesel. In light of this, the current research concluded that the use of biodiesel and BLP. gas for dual-operative engines may be regarded as an appropriate option for reducing pollutant environment and petroleum fuel scarcity. • Influence of mixed biodiesel blends with induced bamboo leaf gaseous fuel were investigated. • NOx and smoke opacity showed trade-off curve of 19.11% and 11.22% lower emission for PMOME20+BLP.gas than diesel. • CO 2 emission for PMOME20+BLP.gas was 38.77% higher than diesel at peak load. • PMOME20+BLP.gas at peak load increased In-CP by 6.15% in contrast to diesel. • HRR and ID for PMOME20+BLP.gas decreased by 72.29% and 9.06% in contrast to diesel. This investigation intends to come up with a cost-efficient and easily available bamboo leaf ash (BLA) which has high content of Silica, as an effective and complimenting reinforcement for the production of magnesium alloy-based metal matrix composites. By incorporating SiC and BLA reinforcement to AZ91D Mg alloy, the composites were made using the bottom pouring stir casting technique. The ratio between SiC and BLA in the composite, respectively, varied as 0:0, 6:0, 0:6, 4:2, 3:3, 2:4 wt.%. Fretting wear is one of the fundamental modes of wear for any mating parts which have vibration with low amplitude. In this study, an integrated Taguchi-TOPSIS is adapted to make the process variables more optimal for fretting wear of composites. Material composition, load, temperature, time, frequency and stroke length are selected as process parameters. The objective is to minimize the coefficient of friction, volume loss and surface roughness. Using the TOPSIS approach, the multi-criteria optimization approach was reduced to a single-criteria issue. The results revealed AZ91D/2 wt.% SiC/4 wt.% BLA, 10N, room temperature, 30-min, 30 Hz and 0.7 mm stroke as optimal parameters. Microscopic study demonstrates that fretting wear occurs in the partial slip zone for the composite tested at optimal condition. With temperature, the wear regime in composites shifts from partial slip to mixed fretting, whereas in alloys, the wear regime shifts from mixed fretting to gross slip. When the correct set of circumstances are available, hybrid composite can function well as a replacement for traditional materials in machineries vulnerable to fretting wear. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the current study, graphite was exfoliated using a Hummer's technique to produce graphene oxide (GO), which was then reduced with hydrazine hydrate (a reducing agent) to produce reduced graphene oxide (rGO) with high purity. The XRD, FT-IR, SEM, and TGA analysis confirmed the synthesis of rGO by stating its crystal phase, chemical functional group, morphology, and thermal stability. The objective of this study is twofold: firstly, to synthesize the reduced graphene oxide (rGO) cost-effectively, and secondly, to explore its potential as an additional filler in Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) composites. Aiming to enhance their overall performance. The GFRP laminate composite was fabricated through the hand layup technique by varying the concentration of Gr (i.e., 0.5 wt% & 1 wt%) and rGO (i.e., 0.5 wt% & 1 wt%). The morphological study of the fracture surface revealed a proper dispersion of filler obtained at 0.5 wt% and by increasing the concentration to 1 wt% it reveals a clustering of fillers and formation of micro-voids. The result revealed that maximum improvement has been observed in the GFRP composite having 0.5 wt% rGO composite than neat GFRP composite. Incorporation of rGO micro-filler in GFRP laminate composite significantly improved the tensile strength, flexural strength, and in their modulus by 59.56%, 18.21%, 24.45%, and 22.75% respectively compared to neat GFRP laminate composite. In the case of 0.5 wt% graphite filler demonstrates an enhancement in tensile strength, flexural strength, and their modulus by 37.98%, ∼8%, 6.64%, and ∼5% respectively. In fretting wear test reveals that 1 wt% of graphite filler has better wear resistance than all other composites. The worn morphology revealed adhesive and abrasive wear as the predominant wear mechanism. In the present situation of emergencies of energy demand, rising oil cost, exhaustion of nonrenewable energy source assets. Biodiesel as well as producer gas acquired from vegetable oil, that is, waste palm cooking oil and biomass, that is, waste bamboo leaves are likely to be designated as the promising substitute fuel. Therefore, the goal of this research is to access the reduction in global warming gases mostly NOx and smoke associated with the introduction of producer gas along with waste cooking oil biodiesel. The current investigation draws out a test of preparing biodiesel from used waste palm cooking oil at different blending proportions and its application on a dual fuel mode turbocharged direct injection diesel engine, with varying load at a fixed speed of 1500 rpm. From the experimentation, it was seen that exhaust gas temperature and brake thermal efficiency reduced while, brake specific energy consumption increased by 10.81%↓, 14.08%↓, and 46%↑ relative to diesel fuel in single fuel mode. Taking into account the emission characteristics of smoke intensity, nitric oxide lowered by 63.59%↓, 91.71%↓but on the cost of higher hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide value of 40.63%↑ and 65.71%↑ in comparison to diesel mode when loaded to the maximum limit. Hence, it can eventually be concluded that waste palm cooking oil methyl ester blended biodiesel with bamboo leaf generated gaseous fuel can partially substitute existing diesel fuel with few engine alternations. This experimental investigation highlights Karanja oil, a nonedible, high-viscosity straight vegetable oil (SVO), blended with fossil diesel (FD) in different volume proportions [Karanja biodiesel 10 (KB10), KB20, KB30, and KB50] in order to assess the oil characteristics and emission analysis on a diesel engine at varying load conditions (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10) kW. Results depict that brake thermal efficiency (BTE) increases, while brake-specific fuel consumption (BSFC) decreases with increase in blend percentage of diesel. Nitric oxide (NO) shows an increasing trend because Karanja oil has high viscosity, low volatility, and low heat content in comparison to FD. Similarly, carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), and hydrocarbon (HC) emission were the lowest with that diesel.
