Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, ergenlerin spor yapma alışkanlığının benlik algısı, benlik saygısı ve yaşam kalitesine etkisinin incelenmesidir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Kesitsel tipte olan araştırma, sosyo-demografik özelliklerine göre belirlenen dört lisede (bir Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi, bir Spor Lisesi, bir Fen Lisesi ve bir Özel Lise) öğrenim gören 14-18 yaş grubundaki (9., 10., 11. ve 12. sınıf) lise öğrencileri (n=1407) ile yürütüldü. Verilerin toplanmasında; “Tanıtıcı Bilgiler Formu”, “Rosenberg Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği”, “Beden Algısı Ölçeği” ve “KINDL Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği” kullanıldı. Verilerin analizi; sayı–yüzde dağılımları, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis ve Spearman Rho Korelasyon testleri kullanılarak yapıldı. Bulgular: Araştırma kapsamına alınan ergenlerin yaş ortalaması 16.00±1.07 yıl olup, %44.8’nin kız, %55.2’sinin erkek, %67.4’ünün BKI değerinin normal olduğu bulundu. Despite studies showing no link between the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the belief that the vaccine causes autism can still affect parents' attitudes towards vaccines. This study aimed to investigate the vaccination status, vaccine information source, and the factors related to vaccine hesitancy diagnosed with ASD and their younger siblings based on interviews and questionnaires. A questionnaire was performed on 37 ASD groups (parents of children with ASD and their younger siblings) and 65 control groups (families with healthy children and healthy younger siblings). The research was conducted between 1st January 2019 and 31st December 2019. Incomplete vaccination was found higher in both children with ASD(n=37) and their younger siblings compared to the healthy control group(n=65) (p=0.045; p=0.016). The four children (10.8%) diagnosed with ASD had five siblings with incomplete or missing vaccinations. Families with children with ASD stated that their knowledge of vaccines was sufficient compared to the control group (p=0.021). All parents stated the autism vaccination relationship as the reason for incomplete vaccination. Parents of children with ASD may delay or reject vaccination for their children and their younger siblings.

Objective: In this study, it was aimed to investigate whether there is a difference between the Eastern and Western regions of Turkey in terms of traditional practices related to baby care. Method: The research data were collected by applying a questionnaire consisting of 62 questions to 263 participants who volunteered to participate in the study by face-to-face interview technique. Results: It was determined that there was statistical significance between some traditional practices of the mothers according to the living situation in the East and West regions (p0.05). Conclusion: As a result of the research, it was determined that the traditional practices of baby care in the East and West in our country were different. In addition, it was determined that mothers living in the East used more traditional methods, which were harmful to infant health, in infant care.

Bu araştırma, Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi (SBF) öğrencilerinin yaşam boyu öğrenme düzeylerini belirleyerek bazı tanımlayıcı özellikler ile ilişkisini incelemek amacıyla yapıldı. Araştırma, SBF Hemşirelik, Ebelik, Fizyoterapi ve Rehabilitasyon (FTR) ve Sosyal Hizmet bölümlerinde öğrenim gören toplam 1520 öğrenci ile Mart-Haziran 2019 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirildi. Araştırmada, ‘‘Öğrenci Tanıtım Formu’’ ve ‘‘Yaşam Boyu Öğrenme Ölçeği (YBÖÖ)’’ kullanıldı. Veriler, tanımlayıcı ve temel istatistikler yöntemler ile değerlendirildi. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin; %78,4’ünün kadın, %51,4’ünün 20 yaş ve altı yaşta, %99,2’sinin bekar olduğu bulundu. Araştırmada, Hemşirelik bölümü öğrencilerin YBÖÖ puan ortalamaları 55,79±9,57, Ebelik bölümü öğrencilerin YBÖÖ puan ortalamaları 55,82±10,33, FTR bölümü öğrencilerin YBÖÖ puan ortalamaları 53,06±9,20 ve Sosyal Hizmet bölümü öğrencilerin YBÖÖ puan ortalamaları 56,48±8,21’dir. SBF öğrencilerinin cinsiyeti ve öğrenim gördükleri bölümleri ile YBÖÖ puan ortalamaları arasındaki farkın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu saptandı (p˂0,05). Ebelik ve FTR bölümü öğrencilerinin öğrenim gördükleri sınıf düzeyleri ile YBÖÖ puan ortalamaları arasındaki farkın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu belirlendi (p˂0,05).SBF öğrencilerinin YBÖ düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu bulundu. Ancak erkek öğrencilerin kadın öğrencilere göre YBÖ düzeylerinin daha düşük, FTR bölümü öğrencilerinin YBÖ düzeylerinin ise en düşük olduğu sonucuna ulaşıldı., The research was carried out to determine the relationship with some descriptive characteristics by determining the lifelong learning levels of the students of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS). The research was conducted between March-June 2019 with a total of 1520 students studying in the Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (PTR) and Social Work departments of the FHS. In the research “Student Presentation Form” and “Lifelong Learning Scale (LLLS)” were used. The data obtained were evaluated with descriptive and basic statistics methods. It was found that 78.4% of the students included in the research were women, 51.4% were 20 years and younger and 99.2% was single. LLLS scores of the nursing students in the research were 55.79±9.57, LLLS scores of midwifery students were 55.82±10.33, LLLS scores of PTR students were 53.06±9.20 and LLLS scores of social work students were 56.48±8.21. As a result of the analyzes, it was found that the difference between the gender and the departments of the FHS students and their mean scores of LLLS was statistically significant (p˂0.05). It was found that the difference between midwifery and FTR student’s grade levels and their means cores of LLLS was statistically significant (p˂0.05). FHS students were found to have high LLL levels. However, it was concluded that the LLL levels of male students were lower than the female students, while the LLL levels of the FTR students were the lowest.

Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between smartphone addiction and parenting levels of mothers whose 18-48-month-old with chronic diseases. Materials and Methods: The research is analytical-cross-sectional type. The research was conducted by face-to-face interview with 140 mothers were accompanying 18-48 months-old-children with chronic diseases in a university hospital in western Turkey between February 2021 and March 2022 and agreed to participate in the study. Data collection tools are Sociodemographic Form, Parenting Scale, Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Form. Results: It was found that the mothers' smartphone addiction scale mean scores were low. It was found that the mean scores of the parenting scale were low, but they showed positive parenting. Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the knowledge of health professionals working in Family Health Centers (FHCs) on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their opinions on early diagnosis. Method: The cross-sectional study was conducted with 192 health care professionals (physician, nurse, midwife) working at the FHCs in a city center between February and March 2020. Objective: The aim of the study was to develop an Insulin Treatment Self-management Scale; both Child Form and Parent Form for children ages 8-18 with type 1 diabetes. Methods: Children with type 1 diabetes and their parents participated in the study. Development of a methodologically designed scale was conducted to investigate insulin treatment self-management of children with type 1 diabetes. Results: A total of 331 children and their parents were recruited. Children and parents completed the data collection tools by themselves. The final scale had two subscales; one was related to cognitive and behavioural expressions regarding insulin treatment (self-efficacy) and the other to emotional aspects of self-maagement of insulin treatment (emotional impacts). The scale was shown to be valid and reliable. Conclusion: This study was a valid and reliable scale for measuring insulin treatment self-management in children with type 1 diabetes. Thus can be used to assess insulin treatment self-management in children with type 1 diabetes and their parents as well as a tool for effective nursing care. © 2019 by Turkish Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Society.

The aim of this study was to demonstrate the validity and reliability of the WFIRS-S-TR, Turkish version of the Weiss Functional Impairment Rating Scale-Self Report form.The study comprised two groups of participants of 15-18 years of age, one consisting of 35 children diagnosed with attention deficit and hyperativity disorder (ADHD) based on the DSM-IV criteria and the other, 510 healthy volunteers attending high school. Apart from the WFIRS-S-TR, the Health Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (KIDSCREEN-10 Index) which is a general quality of life and functionality measurement instrument, was used to check the concurrent validity of the WFIRS-S-TR.The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the total scale was 0.939. The test-retest reliability assessed by repeated measurements two weeks apart gave a high correlation between the results (r=0.804, p0.0001). Total mean score of the WFIRS-S-TR showed significant correlation with the KIDSCREEN-10 Index total mean score (r= -0.467, p0.0001). Confirmatory factor analysis was carried out for the construct validity of the WFIRS-S-TR. The RMSEA and the CFI values were found to be 0.065 and 0.68, respectively.The WFIRS-S-TR can be used as a valid and reliable tool both in clinical practice and for research purposes.

Objective: The aim of this study was to describe knowledge, attitude and clinical decision-making abilities of pediatric nurses regarding pain management, and to find the factors that affect them.Methods: In this descriptive and analytical study, the participants consisted of 131 pediatric nurses who were employed in pediatric clinics of a university hospital and a state hospital in Manisa, Turkey. Data were collected by using the Nurse Description Form, the Questionnaire on Nurses’ Attitudes and Knowledge About Pain, and the Clinical Decision Making Questionnaire.Results: In the study, the mean (standard deviation) score of knowledge and attitude of pediatric nurses in pain management and patients with pain was 7.32 (7.00), and the scores of 45% of them were at an intermediate level. It was found that while variables such as age, occupation and years of working experience did not affect the total mean score of knowledge and attitude of pediatric nurses in pain management, educational background and the unit at which they worked affected it. Moreover, most of the pediatric nurses had sufficient information regarding pain diagnosis; 61.1% of them observed patients’ behavior while diagnosing the severity of pain, and 65.6% of them used a pain diagnosis scale to measure patients’ pain.Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was found that pediatric nurses had an intermediate level of knowledge and behavior regarding pain management and had sufficient knowledge about pain diagnosis and management., Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, çocuk hemşirelerinin ağrı yönetimi ile ilgili bilgi, tutum ve klinik karar verme yeteneklerini ve bunları etkileyen faktörleri belirlemektir.Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı ve analitik nitelikte olan araştırma, Manisa’da bir Üniversite ve bir Devlet hastanesinde çalışan 131 çocuk hemşiresi ile yürütülmüştür. Veriler, Hemşire Tanıtım Formu, Ağrı ile İlgili Hemşire Bilgi ve Davranışları Anketi ve Klinik Karar Verme Anketi kullanılarak toplanmıştır.Bulgular: Araştırmada, çocuk hemşirelerinin ağrılı hastalar ve ağrı yönetimi konusundaki bilgi ve davranış puan ortalaması 7.32±7.00 ve %45’nin puanlarının orta derecede olduğu bulunmuştur. Bu araştırmada; çocuk hemşirelerinin yaşı, görevi ve çalışma yılı gibi değişkenlerin ağrı bilgi ve davranış toplam puan ortalamalarını ve ağrı yönetimindeki tutumlarını etkilemediği bulunmuş iken, eğitim durumu ve çalıştığı birimin ise etkilediği saptanmıştır. Ayrıca, çocuk hemşirelerinin çoğu ağrı tanısı konusunda yeterli bilgiye sahip olduğu, %61,1'inin ağrı şiddetini tanılarken hastaların davranışlarını gözlemlediği ve %65,6'sının hastaların ağrılarını ölçmek için bir ağrı tanılama ölçeği kullandığı saptanmıştır.Sonuç: Araştırmanın sonucunda, çocuk hemşirelerinin ağrı yönetimi ile ilgili bilgi ve davranış puanının orta düzeyde olduğu, ağrı tanılaması ve yönetimi konusunda ise yeterli bilgiye sahip oldukları bulunmuştur.

Objective: The aim of this study was to produce and validate a Turkish version of the University of Virginia Parent Low Blood Sugar Survey (P-LBSS). The P-LBSS is used to assess parental fear of their diabetic children’s hypoglycemia. Methods: Linguistic, content and face validity of the translated P-LBSS was tested. Afterwards, explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted in order to evaluate construct validity. Results: The sample included 390 parents of type 1 diabetic adolescents aged 12-17 years. Results of the factor analysis showed that the Turkish P-LBSS had 2 subscales (behavior and worry) as in the original. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the Turkish version of the total P-LBSS was found to be 0.803, and the value was 0.865 for the behavior and 0.790 for the worry subscales. Psychometric investigation of the Turkish version of P-LBSS indicated high reliability and good retestability, content and construct validity. Conclusion: The Turkish P-LBSS is a valid and reliable instrument to measure the fear of hypoglycemia experienced by parents of diabetic adolescents aged between 12-17 years in the Turkish population. © 2018 by Turkish Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Society.

The goal of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the DSM–5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition) Dissociative Symptoms Severity Scale–Child Form. The scale was prepared by translating and then back-translating the DSM–5 Dissociative Symptoms Severity Scale. The study groups included one group of 30 patients diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder who were treated in a child and adolescent psychiatry unit and another group of 83 healthy volunteers from middle and high schools in the community. For assessment, the Adolescent Dissociative Experiences Scale (ADES) was used in addition to the DSM–5 Dissociative Symptoms Severity Scale. Regarding the reliability of the DSM–5 Dissociative Symptoms Severity Scale, Cronbach’s alpha was.824 and item–total score correlation coefficients were between.464 and.648. The test–retest correlation coefficient was calculated to be r =.784. In terms of construct validity, one factor accounted for 45.2% of the variance. Furthermore, in terms of concurrent validity, the scale showed a high correlation with the ADES. In conclusion, the Turkish version of the DSM–5 Dissociative Symptoms Severity Scale–Child Form is a valid and reliable tool for both clinical practice and research. © 2017 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Background/aim: This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the DSM-5 Generalized Anxiety Disorder Severity Scale - Child Form. Materials and methods: The study sample consisted of 32 patients treated in a child psychiatry unit and diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and 98 healthy volunteers who were attending middle or high school during the study period. For the assessment, the Screen for Child Anxiety and Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED) was also used along with the DSM-5 Generalized Anxiety Disorder Severity Scale - Child Form. Results: Regarding reliability analyses, the Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated as 0.932. The test–retest correlation coefficient was calculated as r = 0.707. As for construct validity, one factor that could explain 62.6% of the variance was obtained and this was consistent with the original construct of the scale. As for concurrent validity, the scale showed a high correlation with SCARED. Conclusion: It was concluded that Turkish version of the DSM-5 Generalized Anxiety Disorder Severity Scale - Child Form could be utilized as a valid and reliable tool both in clinical practice and for research purposes. © TÜBİTAK.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Severity Measure for Specific Phobia - Child Form according to DSM-5. Method: The study group consisted of 50 patients treated in a child psychiatry unit and diagnosed with any specific phobia and 100 healthy volunteers. For the assessment, the Screen for Childhood Anxiety and Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED) was used along with the Severity Measure for Specific Phobia - Child Form according to DSM-5. Results: For reliability, Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated to be 0.961. Test-retest correlation coefficient was calculated r=0.750. As for construct validity, one factor that could explain 74.1% of the variance was obtained, which is consistent with the original structure of the scale. As for concurrent validity, the correlation coefficient with the SCARED in children is r=0.480. Conclusion: It was concluded that the Turkish version of the DSM-5 Severity Measure for Specific Phobia - Child Form can be utilized as a valid and reliable tool both in clinical practice and for research purposes. © 2018 Dusunen Adam. Objective: This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the DSM-5 “Severity Measure for Agoraphobia—Child Age 11–17”. Method: Study group consisted of 36 patients, who have been treated in a child psychiatry unit and diagnosed with agoraphobia, and 100 healthy volunteers who have been secondary and highschool students. For the assessment, the Screen for Childhood Anxiety and Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED) was used along with the DSM-5 “Severity Measure for Agoraphobia—Child Age 11–17”. Results: Regarding reliability analyses, Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated as 0.929. Test-retest correlation coefficient was 0.566. For concurrent validity, the measure showed a high correlation with the SCARED. In ROC analysis, area under ROC curve was calculated as 0.934. Conclusion: It was concluded that Turkish version of the DSM-5 “Severity Measure for Agoraphobia—Child Age 11–17” could be used as a valid and reliable tool both in clinical practice and for research purposes.

Introduction: This study assessed the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the DSM-5 Posttraumatic Stress Symptom Severity Scale-Child Form for use among the Turkish population. Methods: The study group consisted of 30 patients that had been treated in a child psychiatry unit and diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder and 83 healthy volunteers that were attending middle or high school during the study period. For reliability analyses, the internal consistency coefficient and the test-retest correlation coefficient were measured. For validity analyses, the exploratory factor analysis and correlation analysis with the Child Posttraumatic Stress Reaction Index for concurrent validity were measured. Results: The Cronbach’s alpha (the internal consistency coefficient) of the scale was 0.909, and the test-retest correlation coefficient was 0.663. One factor that could explain 58.5% of the variance was obtained and was congruent with the original construct of the scale. As for concurrent validity, the scale showed high correlation with the Child Posttraumatic Stress Reaction Index. Conclusion: It was concluded that the Turkish version of the DSM-5 Posttraumatic Stress Symptom Severity Scale- Child Form can be used as a valid and reliable tool. © 2017 by Turkish Association of Neuropsychiatry.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada DSM-5 Akut Stres Belirtileri Şiddet Ölçeği Çocuk Formu'nun Türkçe sürümünün güvenilirliği ve geçerliliğinin çalışılması amaçlanmıştır.Yöntem: DSM-5 Akut Stres Belirtileri Şiddet Ölçeği - Çocuk Formu Yaş 11-17'nin çevirisi ve geri çevirisi yapılıp ölçek hazırlanmıştır. Araştırma grupları çocuk psikiyatri kliniğinde tedavi gören ve travma sonrası stres bozukluğu tanısı alan 30 hasta ile ortaokul ve lise öğrencilerinden oluşan 40 sağlıklı gönüllüden oluşmaktadır. Değerlendirmede DSM-5 Akut Stres Belirtileri Şiddet Ölçeği Çocuk Formu Yaş 11-17'nin yanı sıra Çocuk ve Gençler için Travma Sonrası Stres Tepki Ölçeği kullanılmıştır.Bulgular: Güvenilirlik analizlerinde Cronbach alfa iç tutarlılık katsayısı 0.918 ve madde - toplam puan bağıntı katsayıları 0.595 ile 0.837 arasında saptanmıştır. Test - yeniden test bağıntı katsayısı r=0.651 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Yapı geçerliliğinde varyansın %67.7'sini açıklayan bir faktör elde edilmiştir ve ölçeğin orijinal yapısı ile uyumludur. A test-retest correlation coefficient was calculated as r=0.711. As for construct validity, one factor that could explain 66.0 % of the variance was obtained. As for concurrent validity, the scale showed a high correlation with the SCARED. Conclusion: It was concluded that the Turkish version of the DSM-5 Social Anxiety Disorder Severity Scale - Child Form could be utilized as a valid and reliable tool both in clinical practice and for research purposes. © 2017 by Turkish Association of Neuropsychiatry.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of DSM-5 "Severity of Acute Stress Symptoms-Child Age 11-17" Form. Method: The scale was prepared by carrying out the translation and back- translation of DSM-5 "Severity of Acute Stress Symptoms-Child Age 11-17" Form. Study group consisted of 30 patients that have been treated in a child psychiatry clinic and diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder and 40 healthy volunteers that attended middle or high school at the study period. For the assessment, Child Posttraumatic Stress Reaction Index was also used along with DSM-5 "Severity of Acute Stress Symptoms-Child Age 11-17" Form Results: Regarding reliability analyses, Cronbach alpha coefficient for internal consistency was calculated as 0.918 while item- total score correlation coefficients ranged 0.595-0.837. Test-retest correlation coefficient was calculated as r=0.651. Concerning construct validity, one factor that could explain 67.7% of the variance was obtained. With respect to concurrent validity, the scale showed a high correlation with Child Posttraumatic Stress Reaction Index. Conclusion: It was concluded that Turkish version of DSM-5 "Severity of Acute Stress Symptoms-Child Age 11-17" Form could be used as a valid and reliable tool both in clinical practice and for research purposes.
