Abstract Object detection has always attracted a lot of attention in computer vision due to its practical applications, i.e. , robotics engineering, autonomous vehicles, and surveillance systems. Recently deep learning approaches have successfully improved the performance of object detection by a significant amount. However, there exist many challenging objects in the images that state-of-the-art approaches still fail to detect. In this paper, we propose an efficient approach that intentionally learns to detect the unseen (missing) objects. In particular, we utilize a dual-level of deep networks to efficiently detect difficult objects in images. The extensive experiments on three benchmarking datasets, PASCAL VOC, KITTI, and MS-COCO, show the superiority of our approach over the state-of-the-art methods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

KDP (Potassium dihydrogen phosphate, KH 2 PO 4) single crystals were grown in Borax (Sodium tetraborate decahydrate, Na 2 B 4 O 7 ·10H 2 O or Na 2 [B 4 O 5 (OH) 4 ]·8H 2 O) added aqueous solutions by the slow cooling method and Sankaranarayanan-Ramasamy (SR) technique. The concentrations of Borax were 0.05, 0.1, 0.5, and 1 mol%. Impurities containing hydroxyl (-OH) groups such as Borax can increase the number of hydrogen bonds in KDP crystals, which plays a key role in governing the optical properties of KDP crystals. This comment was proved by the results of the measurements: Ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, and Second Harmonic Generation (SHG). In this study, we investigated In and F co-doping in ZnO (IFZO) films synthesized by DC magnetron sputtering. The IFZO films exhibited the highest electrical properties, with the lowest resistivity of 5.24 × 10−4 Ωcm, a carrier concentration of 4 × 1020 cm−3, and mobility of 31 cm2/Vs, as well as good transparency (82%) in the wavelength range of 400–1100 nm. The synergistic effect of In and F doping simultaneously increased the carrier concentration by 17 times and the mobility by 2 times compared to the ZnO film. This improvement was attributed to the In3+ and F− donors, as well as the reduction in the number of lattice defects by fluorine passivation. Additionally, the good transmittance of the IFZO films (85%) also met the transparency and conductivity requirements for optoelectronic applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Little is known about the chemical and biological profiles of Dicranopteris linearis and Psychotria adenophylla. No previous studies have investigated alpha-glucosidase inhibition using extracts from D. linearis and P. adenophylla. In this paper, bioactive-guided isolation procedures were applied to the plants D. linearis and P. adenophylla based on alpha-glucosidase inhibition. From the most active fractions, 20 compounds (DL1–DL13 and PA1–PA7) were isolated. The chemical structures were elucidated using spectroscopic data and compared with those available in the literature. These compounds were evaluated for alpha-glucosidase inhibition, while a molecular docking study was performed to elucidate the mechanisms involved. This paper pushes the envelope on decomposing camouflaged regions in an image into meaningful components, namely, camouflaged instances. To promote the new task of camouflaged instance segmentation of in-the-wild images, we introduce a dataset, dubbed CAMO++, that extends our preliminary CAMO dataset (camouflaged object segmentation) in terms of quantity and diversity. The new dataset substantially increases the number of images with hierarchical pixel-wise ground truths. We also provide a benchmark suite for the task of camouflaged instance segmentation. In particular, we present an extensive evaluation of state-of-the-art instance segmentation methods on our newly constructed CAMO++ dataset in various scenarios. We also present a camouflage fusion learning (CFL) framework for camouflaged instance segmentation to further improve the performance of state-of-the-art methods. Few-shot learning is proposed to overcome the problem of scarce training data in novel classes. Recently, few-shot learning has been well adopted in various computer vision tasks such as object recognition and object detection. However, the state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods have less attention to effectively reuse the information from previous stages. In this paper, we propose a new framework of few-shot learning for object detection. In particular, we adopt Baby Learning mechanism along with the multiple receptive fields to effectively utilize the former knowledge in novel domain. The propoed framework imitates the learning process of a baby through visual cues. The extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method over the SOTA methods on the benchmarks (improve average 7.0% on PASCAL VOC and 1.6% on MS COCO). • Introduce Baby Learning mechanism into few-shot object detection. • Use multi-receptive fields to capture the novel variance object appearance in FSOD. • Propose FORD + BL method to achieve superior results over the baseline. • Flexibly apply Baby Learning mechanism to other FSOD methods. KDP (Potassium dihydrogen phosphate) single crystals were grown from Amaranth dye and EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt) mixed KDP solutions by the temperature lowering method and Sankaranarayanan-Ramasamy technique. The molar concentration of EDTA in the solutions was 1 mol%. The Amaranth concentrations were 0.001, 0.005, 0.01, 0.03 and 0.05 mol%. The growth of KDP crystals was oriented in type I and type II phase-matching directions which bring maximum second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency to the crystals. Optical properties of Amaranth and EDTA co-doped KDP crystals (KAE) were investigated by Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, FT-Raman spectroscopy, and photoluminescence. SHG efficiency of the crystals was measured by shining 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser directly into them and receiving output signals. The most important result in the study showed that KAE crystals had SHG efficiency of 1.7 and 2.4 times higher than EDTA doped KDP crystal (KE) and pure KDP crystal respectively. Then second-order nonlinear optical coefficients of these crystals were calculated. The simultaneous doping of two organic substances into KDP crystals has further enhanced their nonlinear optical characteristics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

KDP (Potassium dihydrogen phosphate) single crystals co-doped with Amaranth dye and EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt) with concentrations of 0.005 mol% and 1 mol% respectively in the solution were grown from seeds by the method of temperature reduction and Sankaranarayanan-Ramasamy (SR) technique. The seeds were mounted vertically and in a direction of 59° from the vertical. The latter orientation of the seed made second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of KDP crystal with the 1064 nm laser reach its maximum value. Bulk growth, optical, and structural properties of the crystals were assessed by UV–Vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, and photoluminescence. The elemental composition of crystals was also determined by Energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. Amaranth and EDTA additives have improved the SHG performance of pure KDP crystals by up to 168%, which probably could not be achieved by doping either with Amaranth or EDTA. Finally, three different parts of the crystal rods grown by SR technique were not homogeneous in the optical, structural properties and the degree of being dyed. • Amaranth and EDTA co-doped KDP single crystals (KAE) were successfully grown by the temperature lowering method and Sankaranarayanan-Ramasamy technique. • The growth of KDP crystals was oriented in [001] direction and type II phase-matching direction which brings maximum second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency to the crystal. • Optical characteristics differed in three different parts (the base, the middle, and the head) of the KAE single crystal. • KAE crystals had SHG efficiency of 2.2 and 2.6 times higher than EDTA doped KDP crystal (KE) and pure KDP crystal respectively.
