This review presents synthetic results of remote sensing application in monitoring and management of seagrass beds in the Southeast Asia region. The objective of this paper aims to evaluate the status and potential of using remote sensing technologies in seagrass mapping to enhance its effective utilization and management. The results showed that the number of studies in the application of remote sensing for seagrass are still limited, mainly from 2011 to 2017, which focus on habitat mapping (accounting for 62 %) and other studies on the detection of seagrass change in temporal (38 %). The number of studies on using medium and high resolution remote sensing images are approximately about 50 % and 44 %, respectively. Only 6 % studies used very high resolution remote sensing images. Finally, it is suggested that having more study in seagrass bed mapping by using remote sensing data is significant for understanding the variability of seagrass beds in the coastal areas for effective management and protection in the future.

Lactobacillus strains are a major part of the probiotics, microflora of the intestine and of fermented foods. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential probiotics of six Lactobacillus strains (L. fermentum 39-183; L. plantarum subsp.plantarum P-8; L. casei ATCC 334; L. rhamnosus ATCC 8530, L. brevis KB 290 and L. fermentum JMC 7776). Probiotic properties such as acid tolerance, bile resistance, bacteriocin-like activity, cell surface hydrophobicity and antibiotic resistance were assessed. In vitro results obtained showed that all Lactobacillus strains tested were able to meet the basic requirements for probiotic functions as they demonstrated probiotic characteristics such as tolerance to pH 2.0 and 2% bile salt. All Lactobacillus strains inhibited the growth of E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella Typhi. Among strains tested, L. plantarum subsp.plantarum P-8 showing inhibitory is very promising with inhibition zone ranging between 6.5 to 12.7 mm. The results for cell surface hydrophobicity and susceptibility against antibiotics also showed that L. fermentum JMC 7776 and L. plantarum subsp.plantarum P-8 had higher cell surface hydrophobicity than the rests. All Lactobacillus tested were resistant to vancomycin and susceptible to streptomycin. The results obtained in this investigation will be used to select potentially probiotic strains for in vivo study

Parameter extraction is an important part of model development. The goal of parameter extraction and optimization is to determine such values of device model parameters that minimize the differences between a set of measured characteristics and results obtained by evaluations of the device model. This minimization process is often called fitting of model characteristics to the measurement data. The objective of this paper is presenting an extraction and optimization method, using Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm, for a set of electrical parameters of the EKV MOSFET Model. The Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is an efficient and popular damped least square technique. This algorithm is a combination between the steepest gradient descent and the Gauss-Newton algorithms. All implementations are carried out on Matlab environment.

This paper investigates an emerging professional role transformation in Vietnamese universities, whereby English language teaching (ELT) lecturers transform themselves into English medium instruction (EMI) lecturers in a discipline new to them. Through interviews with five ELT/EMI lecturers working in separate universities and different disciplines, the study investigates reasons for their decision to engage in such professional mobility, their role transformation experience, and its implications for educational quality. We argue that participants’ move into EMI was shaped by the strategic imperative for higher education internationalisation, and the mistaken belief that EMI alone can achieve the English language development students require for academic success. It is also argued that the transformation option made available to the participants was not the best use of their skills, and that a profound change of perspective is needed at the institutional level to most effectively use the strengths of ELT lecturers to support educational quality.
