Abstract

A surface-inset machine model having harmonics injected into Halbach magnet shape with salient iron and an analytical modeling method have been proposed. For the proposed model, considering the magnet outer surface shape with sinusoidal and third harmonic injection, after the analytically derived magnetic fields by solving the constructed matrix equations, the optimal third harmonic amplitude to fundamental amplitude ratio and the optimal magnetization angle have been determined from the field functions. The electromagnetic performances have been predicted and compared with other two surface-inset models. The comparison results show that the proposed optimized model has the largest electromagnetic torque with the same magnet consumption. Finally, the finite element analysis predictions have been provided for verification the analytical performances. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The model of a magnetic field inside the permanent magnet spherical stepper motor is developed using the integral equation method (IEM), and discrete expressions for field distribution are also derived. The results of the IEM and finite-element method show the effectiveness and advantages of IEM for the magnetic field computation on the permanent magnetic spherical stepper motor. Abstract

A 4.8 MV impulse voltage generator and impulse current generators are used to perform lightning simulation on the Z11 helicopter radome. The radome system is composed of lightning diverter strips, air data probe and a 0.5 m long metal structure attached to the radome to simulate the helicopter body. The test facilities, process and the results are presented according to the Chinese CCAR27 standard. This test improved considerably the lightning protection performance of the Z11 radome system by optimizing the diverters. This resulted in successful passing of ground simulated lightning test requirements.
