Abstract

Although this work is a bit theoretical and contains lots of derivations, it leads to very explicit practical results in bistatic focusing. Our approach is based on Loffelds bistatic formula describing the point targets reference spectrum for arbitrary bistatic configuration. Based on various simulations the validity of LBF for both airborne and spaceborne configurations is demonstrated. Focusing for special bistatic configurations like: Tandem and Translationally Invariant constellations is considered. The focusing for the Tandem configuration is solved analytically. Focusing in the TI case is realized by blockwise processing. All focusing algorithms are developed in IDL and adequate simulation results are presented. In the end of the paper outlines the conceptual solution of the most difficult bistatic General Case and presents some first focusing results., Comment: 2005 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium

Abstract

Aims To characterize acute lesions during cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR)-guided radiofrequency (RF) ablation of cavo-tricuspid isthmus (CTI)-dependent atrial flutter by combining T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), T1 mapping, first-pass perfusion, and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) imaging. CMR-guided catheter ablation offers a unique opportunity to investigate acute ablation lesions. Until present, studies only used T2WI and LGE CMR to assess acute lesions. . Methods Fifteen patients with CTI-dependent atrial flutter scheduled for CMR-guided RF ablation were prospectively enrolled. and results Directly after achieving bidirectional block of the CTI line, CMR imaging was performed using: T2WI (n = 15), T1 mapping (n = 10), first-pass perfusion (n = 12), and LGE (n = 12) imaging. In case of acute reconnection, additional RF ablation was performed. In all patients, T2WI demonstrated oedema in the ablation region. Right atrial T1 mapping was feasible and could be analysed with a high inter-observer agreement (r = 0.931, ICC 0.921). The increase in T1 values post-ablation was significantly lower in regions showing acute reconnection compared with regions without reconnection [37 ± 90 ms vs. 115 ± 69 ms (P = 0.014), and 3.9 ± 9.0% vs. 11.1 ± 6.8% (P = 0.022)]. Perfusion defects were present in 12/12 patients. The LGE images demonstrated hyper-enhancement with a central area of hypo-enhancement in 12/12 patients. . Conclusion Tissue characterization of acute lesions during CMR-guided CTI-dependent atrial flutter ablation demonstrates oedema, perfusion defects, and necrosis with a core of microvascular damage. Right atrial T1 mapping is feasible, and may identify regions of acute reconnection that require additional RF ablation.

Item does not contain fulltext, PURPOSE: To provide an overview of existing literature on the association between late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiac MRI and low voltage areas (LVA) obtained with electroanatomic mapping (EAM) or histopathology when assessing atrial fibrosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A systematic literature search was conducted in the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases to identify all studies published until June 7, 2022, comparing LGE cardiac MRI to LVA EAM and/or histopathology for evaluation of atrial fibrosis. The study protocol was registered at PROSPERO (registration no. CRD42022338243). Two reviewers independently evaluated the studies for inclusion. Risk of bias and applicability for each included study were assessed using Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 (QUADAS-2) criteria. Data regarding demographics, electrophysiology, LGE cardiac MRI, and study outcomes were extracted. RESULTS: The search yielded 1048 total results, of which 22 studies were included. Nineteen of the 22 included studies reported a significant correlation between high signal intensity at LGE cardiac MRI and LVA EAM or histopathology. However, there was great heterogeneity between included studies regarding study design, patient samples, cardiac MRI performance and postprocessing, and EAM performance. CONCLUSION: Current literature suggests a correlation between LGE cardiac MRI and LVA EAM or histopathology when evaluating atrial fibrosis but high heterogeneity between studies, demonstrating the need for uniform choices regarding cardiac MRI and EAM acquisition in future studies.Keywords: Cardiac, MR Imaging, Left Atrium Supplemental material is available for this article. © RSNA, 2022.

Abstract

This paper discusses the mechanical properties of alternative wood substitute materials in the construction of small boats (jukung/cadik type). Jukung/cadik boat as a small fishing boat with a length overall 6,400 m, design beam 1,530 m, design draft 0.380 m, displacement 2,442 tons, wetted surface area 15.58 m2, the pressure acting on the submerged hull needed minimum material used has a strength of 0.0039 MPa or 3.92 kN/m2. The replacement material used is the HDPE blue drum scrap, which has an average thickness of 3mm, then made into two layers as laminate. The laminate process uses welding. The results of HDPE laminate material from these two layers are tested for tensile and compressive strength to meet the material strength requirements for small ship hulls. They were testing the strength of HDPE welded joints with type A1 specimens. Tension and compression of the two-layer laminate material was tested with specimens of type A2, A3, and A4. The tensile test results for A1 specimens obtained for welding tests are pretty good at 17.1 MPa, then the results of compression tests for specimen type A2, A3, and A4 on average are 23.36 MPa, which is greater than the need for the strength of the jukung/cadik hull. A brief overview of the current status on the subject of numerical modelling of radionuclide transport in the marine environment is given: main transport processes occurring in the sea, basic approaches to solve such processes numerically, up to-date trends to deal with water/sediment interactions (in the case of non-conservative radionuclides), and topics in which work is currently in progress (like the integration of biological uptake models within marine transport models). A brief review of models applied to simulate Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant releases in the Pacific Ocean after the 2011 accident is also included, since the most recent modelling efforts have been focused in this problem. A discussion of the main sources of uncertainty in models is given, as well as the problems these uncertainties pose in relation to emergency modelling, which is one of the most relevant applications of dispersion models

Abstract

Sinds de hervorming van de langdurige zorg in 2015 is de vraag of kwetsbare burgers de zorg krijgen die ze nodig hebben. Mensen die hulp nodig hebben doen in toenemende mate een beroep op hun directe sociale omgeving. Dat beroep op de informele zorg vraagt veel veerkracht en organisatievermogen van families, maar ook van vrijwilligers, professionals en werkgevers. Wat betekent dit voor de toekomstige invulling en vormgeving van de informele zorg? Het symposium ‘Toekomst van de informele zorg’, georganiseerd op 26 januari 2017 door het Sociaal en Cultureel Planbureau en het Institute for Societal Resilience van de VU, was gewijd aan mogelijke antwoorden op deze vraag. In haar oratie ging Alice de Boer in op ongelijkheid als mogelijke determinant en uitkomst van informele zorg. Enkele conclusies uit de bijdragen: • Tot 2050 verdubbelt het aantal 75-plussers tot ongeveer 3 miljoen personen, maar neemt het aantal informele helpers af. Naast het hebben van sociale en economische hulpbronnen (‘de have & have nots’) zijn capaciteiten om zorg te organiseren (‘de can & can-nots’) van toenemend belang. • Bijna de helft van de werkende ouderen biedt kort voor hun pensioen mantelzorg. Flexibiliteit op de werkplek kan mensen helpen werk en mantelzorg makkelijker te combineren, maar ongeveer de helft van de werkenden geeft aan dat thuiswerken en deeltijdpensioen niet mogelijk is. • Mantelzorgers en zorgprofessionals verlenen hulp vanuit een perspectief en identiteit die meer overlappend dan onderscheidend zijn. Benadrukken van wat men deelt in de zorgverlening verbetert de kans op samenwerking. • Tussen 2002 en 2014 nam het aandeel volwassen kinderen dat huishoudelijke hulp verleent aan hun ouders gestaag toe. Dit suggereert een toenemende solidariteit binnen families, maar huidig beleid kan leiden tot meer genderongelijkheid binnen families. • Partners en kinderen blijven ook in de toekomst de belangrijkste mantelzorgers, bij voorkeur met ondersteuning van verschillende typen hulpverleners. Het organiseren en regisseren van een groot zorgnetwerk vereist wel capaciteiten die niet iedereen bezit. • Het geven van informele hulp vergroot het risico op overbelasting en verzuim op werk of opleiding. Abstract

Due to the reform of long term care in 2015, there is growing concern about whether groups at risk receive the care they need. People in need of care have to rely more on help from their social network. The increased need for informal care requires resilience and organizational skills of families, but also of volunteers, professionals and employers. What does this mean for the provision of informal care in the next decennia? The symposium ‘The future of informal care’, organized on January 26 2017 by the National Institute for Social Research and the Institute for Societal Resilience of the Vrije Universiteit, addressed possible answers to this question. In her inaugural speech Alice de Boer discussed social inequality as possible determinant and outcome of informal care. Some conclusions: Until 2050 the absolute number of 75-plus doubled to about 3 million persons, but the number of informal caregivers will decrease. In addition to the importance of social and economic resources (the ‘have & have-nots’), the ability to arrange care (the ‘can & can-nots’) gains importance. Almost half of the older employers provides informal care just before retirement. Flexibility in working hours and work location facilitates combining work and care, but about half of the employers indicates that partial retirement and working at home are no options. Informal caregivers and professionals often provide care from comparable perspectives and identities. Addressing similarities rather than differences improves their chances for collaboration. The number of adult children providing household care to older parents increased between 2002 and 2014. This suggests an increase in family solidarity, but current reform policies may increase the gender inequality in caregiving families. Spouses and children remain primary caregivers in the future, preferably supported by many different types of caregivers. 40. Support Vector Machine – Recursive Feature Elimination for Feature Selection on Multi-omics Lung Cancer Data

Abstract

Biological data obtained from sequencing technologies is growing exponentially. Multi-omics data is one of the biological data that exhibits high dimensionality, or more commonly known as the curse of dimensionality. The curse of dimensionality occurs when the dataset contains many features or attributes but with significantly fewer samples or observations. The study focuses on mitigating the curse of dimensionality by implementing Support Vector Machine – Recursive Feature Elimination (SVM-RFE) as the selected feature selection method in the lung cancer (LUSC) multi-omics dataset integrated from three single omics dataset comprising genomics, transcriptomics and epigenomics, and assess the quality of the selected feature subsets using SDAE and VAE deep learning classifiers. In this study, the LUSC datasets first undergo data pre-processing, including checking for missing values, normalization, and removing zero variance features. The cleaned LUSC datasets are then integrated to form a multi-omics dataset. Feature selection was performed on the LUSC multi-omics data using SVM-RFE to select several optimal feature subsets. The five smallest feature subsets (FS) are used in classification using SDAE and VAE neural networks to assess the quality of the feature subsets. The results show that all 5 VAE models can obtain an accuracy and AUC score of 1.000, while only 2 out of 5 SDAE models (FS 1000 & 4000) can do so. 3 out of 5 SDAE models have an AUC score of 0.500, indicating zero capability in separating the binary class labels. The study concludes that a fine-tuned supervised learning VAE model has better capability in classification tasks compared to SDAE models for this specific study. Additionally, 1000 and 4000 are the two most optimal feature subsets selected by the SVM-RFE algorithm. The SDAE and VAE models built with these feature subsets achieve the best classification results.

State-of-the art dispersion models were applied to simulate 137Cs dispersion from Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster fallout in the Baltic Sea and from Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant releases in the Pacific Ocean after the 2011 Tsunami. Models were of different nature, from box to full three-dimensional models, and included water/ sediment interactions. Agreement between models was very good in the Baltic. In recent years several methods for supporting caregivers of dementia patients have been developed. This article reviews the scientific research of these methods. It appears that in the relatively few studies only the effects of support groups, respite care and psychotherapy have been examined. The curative forms of support are capable of helping caregivers with serious mental health problems. Preventive interventions have no or only limited effects. These findings can be caused by the extensive methodological problems and the limited range of the studies.

Abstract

Advancement of high-throughput technologies in omics studies had produced large amount of information that enables integrated analysis of complex diseases. Complex diseases such as cancer are often caused by a series of interactions that involve multiple biological mechanisms. Integration of multi-omics data allows more advanced analysis using features from various aspects of biology. However, analysing cancer multi-omics data on a large scale could be challenging due to the high dimensionality of the data. The recent development of advanced computational algorithms, especially deep learning, had sparked numerous efforts in applying these algorithms in multi-omics studies. This study aims to investigate how deep learning algorithms, namely stacked denoising autoencoder (SDAE) and variational autoencoder (VAE) can be used in cancer classification using multi-omics data. Moreover, this study also investigates the impact of feature selection in multi-omics analysis through the implementation of an embedded feature selection. The multi-omics data used in this study includes genomics, methylomics, transcriptomics and clinical data for a case study of lung squamous cell carcinoma. The classification performance has been compared and discussed in terms of the effectiveness of different models and the impact of feature selection. Results showed that VAE outperforms SDAE with 91.86% accuracy, 22.73% specificity and 0.21% Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC).
