This article investigates the impact of individualism–collectivism on a person's willingness to donate organs. In Study 1, an online survey showed that individualism–collectivism was significantly and positively associated with participants' willingness to register as organ donors while perceived benefit mediated this relationship. Study 2 demonstrated the causal effect of individualism–collectivism on organ donation intentions using a priming technique. Participants primed with collectivism were more likely to register as organ donors than those primed with individualism. Our findings provide unique insights into whether cultural values (i.e., individualism–collectivism) can predict people's organ donation intentions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Summary: As human activities in mobile environments are facing an ever‐increasing range of data, it is of great research importance to explore in depth the salient features of data that discriminate human behavior patterns and socio‐demographic factors. However, human activity behavior that consists of a series of complex spatio‐temporal activity processes is difficult to model. In this article, we develop a framework to perform activity behavior pattern mining and recognition, and the proposed framework has been applied to the American Time Use Survey to explore representative activity behavior patterns and socio‐demographic factors. The main contributions are as follows: (1) A method of activity behavior similarity is presented based on daily activities and activity sequences. (2) An activity sequence similarity algorithm with O(p(m−p)) is proposed by line segment tree, greedy algorithm, and dynamic programming. (3) Representative activity behavior patterns and socio‐demographic factors are derived by clustering analysis and mining. (4) The activity behavior pattern is recognized by activity behavior features or socio‐demographic features. Zn0.5Ni0.5-xCoxFe2-yLayO4 ferrites (with x=0, 0.02 and y=0, 0.02) were prepared by an industrial method using the standard ceramic technique and sintered at 1,250°C in air. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to obtain the phase formation of the NiZn ferrites. The microstructure of ferrites was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The XRD reveals that lattice parameter (a) is decreased and a secondary phase (LaFeO3) is formed in the La–Co co-substituted NiZn ferrite sample, meanwhile, the grain size (D) of this sample decreased obviously by observing SEM photographs. Vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), B-H analyzer, impedance analyzer and electrometer were carried out in order to characterize some properties of the ferrites. This investigation indicates that, La–Co co-substituted NiZn ferrite sample has higher power loss (Pcv) than other samples at low frequency with an increase in coercive field (Hc) and magnetocrystalline anisotropy (K1), a decrease in initial permeability (μi) and saturation magnetization (Ms). However, at high frequency, the power loss of La–Co co-substituted sample is low, which is attributed to high resistivity (ρ), small grain size (D), less number of Fe2+ ions and low porosity (P).

Ions substitution into spinel ferrites has attracted intensive attention on probing novel physical phenomenon as well as developing the potential fields in information technology. Herein, we focus on a series of magnetic behaviors and thermal stability of Mg(Ga2−xFex)O4 substitution system. The magnetic properties and microstructure of MgGa2O4 spinel ferrites doped with Fe ions at the Ga site have been prepared and systematically investigated in this work. Accordingly, some specific experimental results and conclusions are obtained based on the characterization of structure and magnetic properties. The continuously increasing lattice constants for doping samples and considerable Rietveld fitting results manifest the high quality of the prepared sample. Furthermore, the magnetization and magnetic transition temperature are gradually improved with the increase of Fe-doping concentration. Specifically, the saturation magnetization Ms increased from 5.24 to 35.09 emu/g upon substituting. Based on the Fe substitution, a well preservation of soft magnetic behavior sustains with strengthened Ms, and also inducing some competing magnetic frustration, namely, spin glass (SG). Our discovery paves the pathway for fundamental research in enhancing magnetization and magnetic coupling of spinel ferrites, as well as developing the potential application in low-temperature chip inductors.
