Human Rights abuses in South Africa occasioned by xenophobic attacks in South Africa had occurred intermittently for over a decade despite the hue and cry against xenophobia. Driven primarily by efforts to protect human life and overcome the challenges of xenophobia, some international human rights organisations expressed their views on the curtailment of human rights abuses perpetrated in South Africa. Contextually, South- Africa has notable human rights organisations, yet human rights abuses happen through xenophobic attacks in some parts of the country. The primary objective of this paper is to identify human rights challenges brought about by xenophobic attacks, including the right to human dignity and the right to life. This methodology adopted in this paper included reference to statutes, internet sources, and newspaper publications. This paper finds, amongst others, that despite the United Nations conventions and other international laws guaranteeing the human rights of all persons, the South African government appeared overwhelmed by the xenophobic attacks in dealing with the situation. This paper made useful recommendations towards preventing future xenophobic attacks and avoiding human rights violations.

The issue of desert migration has remained an intractable problem in the context of human rights. Desert migration raises unabated and a major concern because of the problems that come with it. Illegal migration has highlighted the need for and the challenge of having a proper human rights impact assessment of desert migration which will help in providing a suitable legal framework. This article primarily seeks certain protections accorded to migrants on desert migration and identifies problems associated with desert migration and the states of stranded migrants under human rights law. It is written by using a doctrinal legal research methodology that adopts analytical and qualitative approaches and builds its argument on existing literature which is achieved by synthesis of ideas. This article noted that there is a significant protection gap in the international and regional human rights architecture which oftentimes result in inadequate protection of migrants from human rights violation. It is argued that in order to guarantee a robust protection of migrant's rights outside their place of origin, a more integral response to critical human rights and development challenges is capable of addressing the protection gap. Furthermore, the article demonstrated that adopting a new approach with comprehensive instruments on migrant's rights protection and resettlement will be able to eradicate unabated violations of migrant's rights around the globe.

The emergence of Green Public Procurement created an innovative means of procuring goods and labour in line with global environment standards and regulations. Green Public Procurement has become a major mechanism for addressing global issues confronting the environment. This article employs a doctrinal research method, reviewing relevant existing literatures and legislations to consider the prospects of Green Public Procurement having a positive effect in Nigeria, Zambia, South Africa, China and Brazil. To achieve a holistic implementation process, this article advocates for concerted efforts to conduct a sustainability assessment, the establishment of clear sustainability goals, along with training and retraining of procurement staff engaged in the protection of the environment through Green Public Procurement. Comparing the disclosure of public information regarding the dissemination and publication to the public of newly enacted rules, setting Indonesia and the Netherlands as parameters is interesting as the legal cultures of both countries are intertwined and legal perspectives are constantly evolving. Despite differences in the rule of law, both countries have similar regulatory frameworks. This research uses a normative juridical writing method with a literature study to analyze the relationship between good governance and public information disclosure, including definitions, indicators, objectives, and important factors that influence the concept. The aim is to serve as a comparison parameter for a more efficient information disclosure mechanism. In Indonesia, the role of DPRDs is closely related to the issue of public information disclosure, as DPRDs have a dominant role in authority. Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, the local government takes the lead in setting regulations. Nonetheless, both countries emphasize the importance of checks and balances through the establishment of RvD and KIP, to oversee and integrate the aspirations of the community. The results of this study suggest that public information disclosure is important in both Indonesia and the Netherlands, as demonstrated by regulations that prioritize transparency, accountability, public participation, responsiveness, and the rule of law in governance. This commitment to openness aims to bridge the gap between public expectations and government actions. And in conclusion, the harmony between the process of forming regulations involving the DPRD as a representative of the people's voice and information disclosure is interrelated in public services towards the achievement of good governance.
