Abstract

This research paper tackles with the optical soliton solutions of stochastic the third-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation having multiplicative white noise via Ito calculus. Two efficient analytical procedures, which are the unified Riccati equation expansion method and the new Kudryashov method, are performed to structure the stochastic soliton solutions of introduced model. By making this choice, it has been intended to take advantage of the properties of these methods at the same time without using accessional operation and time in problem solving. Under favour of these techniques, bright and dark soliton forms are derived and their behavioral alterations on soliton dynamics under the effect of stochastic and the third-order dispersion terms are figured by 2D, contour and 3D diagrams. Considering the fact that the stochastic form of the equation has not been studied before in the absence of the chromatic dispersion term and the importance of noise effect for nonlinear models it is expected that the results which are obtained in this study will make a contribution to the studies in this field. Abstract

Optimization modeling of real-world application problems usually involves noise from various sources. Noisy optimization imposes challenges to optimization methods since the objective values can be different for multiple evaluations. In this article, we propose a novel online population size learning (OPL) technique of evolution strategies for handling noisy optimization problems. By re-evaluating a fraction of the candidates, we measure the strength of noise level of the re-evaluated candidate solutions and adapt the population size according to the noise level. The proposed OPL combines the advantages of both explicit averaging by re-evaluations and the implicit averaging by large population size and overcomes their limitations. We incorporate it with the covariance matrix adaptation evolution strategy (CMA-ES) and obtain OPL-CMA-ES. Compared with the existing noise handling technique, the proposed OPL is much simpler in both concepts and computation. We conduct comprehensive experiments to evaluate the algorithm’s performance on standard problems with Gaussian noise. We further evaluate the performance of OPL-CMA-ES on the black-box optimization benchmarks (BBOBs) noisy testbed, which is a standard platform for comparing black-box optimization algorithms, compared with the state-of-the-art noise-handling algorithms. Abstract

Background: Gene transcription is a random bursting process that leads to large variability in mRNA numbers in single cells. The main cause is largely attributed to random switching between periods of active and inactive gene transcription. In some experiments, it has been observed that variation in the number of active transcription sites causes the initiation rate to vary during elongation. Results: We established a mathematical model based on the molecular reaction mechanism in single cells and studied a stochastic transcription system consisting of two active states and one inactive state, in which mRNA molecules are produced with two different synthesis rates. Conclusions: By calculation, we obtained the average mRNA expression level, the noise strength, and the skewness of transcripts. We gave a necessary and sufficient condition that causes the average mRNA level to peak at a limited time. The model could help us to distinguish an appropriate mechanism that may be employed by cells to transcribe mRNA molecules. Our simulations were in agreement with some experimental data and showed that the skewness can measure the deviation of the distribution of transcripts from the mean value. Especially for mature mRNAs, their distributions were almost able to be determined by the mean, the noise (or the noise strength), and the skewness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The optical gain (OG) of quantum dots containing impurity is dealt with in the present investigation under the governance of applied Gaussian white noise. In this regard, various pertinent physical parameters are varied over a range and the resulting variations of OG are thoroughly monitored. Along with OG, the profiles of the gain radiative current density and the bandgap are also analyzed. The authors have come across that the presence/absence of noise, the mode of application of noise (additive/multiplicative), the particular physical parameter concerned, and the range of magnitude of the physical parameter, in unison, govern the features of the OG profiles in diverse ways. The study reveals that tuning of various physical parameters under applied noise in some preferred mode can be useful for the attainment of high OG and saturation gain. Abstract

Herein, a meticulous inspection of the tuning of a few important physical properties of quantum dots (QDs), arising out of the subtle interplay between Gaussian white noise (GWN) and anharmonicity, is performed. The physical properties considered are dipole moment, polarizability, Stark shift, magnetic susceptibility, binding energy, interband emission energy, and time‐average excitation rate. The pathway of the introduction of noise (additive/multiplicative) to the QD system, coupled with the symmetry (odd/even) of the anharmonic potential present in the system produces delicate and diverse features in the aforementioned physical properties. These physical attributes consist of monotonic growth, monotonic decline, maximization, minimization, and saturation in these physical properties modulated by different extents of the interplay between the noise mode and the symmetry of the anharmonicity. The study holds relevance in view of potential technological applications of QDs under the simultaneous influence of anharmonic potential and noise. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Gene expression is a stochastic and noisy process often occurring in "bursts". Experiments have shown that the compartmentalization of proteins by liquid-liquid phase separation is conducive to reducing the noise of gene expression. Therefore, an important goal is to explore the role of bursts in phase separation noise reduction processes. We propose a coupled model that includes phase separation and a two-state gene expression process. Using the timescale separation method, we obtain approximate solutions for the expectation, variance, and noise strength of the dilute phase. We find that a higher burst frequency weakens the ability of noise reduction by phase separation, but as the burst size increases, this ability first increases and then decreases. 23. Curvelet‐based multiscale denoising using non‐local means & guided image filter.

Abstract

This study presents an image denoising technique using multiscale non‐local means (NLM) filtering combined with hard thresholding in curvelet domain. The inevitable ringing artefacts in the reconstructed image – due to thresholding – is further processed using a guided image filter for better preservation of local structures like edges, textures and small details. The authors decomposed the image into three different curvelet scales including the approximation and the fine scale. The low‐frequency noise in the approximation sub‐band and the edges with small textural details in the fine scale are processed independently using a multiscale NLM filter. On the other hand, the hard thresholding in the remaining coarser scale is applied to separate the signal and the noise subspace. Experimental results on both greyscale and colour images indicate that the proposed approach is competitive at lower noise strength with respect to peak signal to noise ratio and structural similarity index measure and excels in performance at higher noise strength compared with several state‐of‐the‐art algorithms. Abstract

Fractional order models involving nonlinearity are remarkable for having substantial application in real-world. The present determination is due to obtain applicable wave solutions of fractional order stochastic Bogoyavlenskii equation (SBE) in the viewpoint of stratonovich regarding multiplicative noise. Enhanced rational (G ′ / G) -expansion and improved auxiliary equation approaches are imposed to the suggested model which accumulate diverse wave solutions in appropriate form. The investigators might depict sophisticated tangible phenomena in a wide range with the assistance of the found well-furnished wave solutions as the governing equation makes understanding about the plasma physics, the wave of propulsion fluid-flow, and the dynamic characteristics of shallow-water waves. Various obtained solutions are figured out to portray prominent physical characteristics of nonlinear wave outlines. Different types of solitons are organized graphically in 3D shapes such as periodic, anti-periodic, compacton, anti-compacton, bell, anti-bell, peakon, kink, anti-kink, cuspon etc. Diverse 2D plots are comprised to make noticeable the wave velocity while contour plots signify the association among the concerned variables. The graphical representations are brought out together with the effects of noise strength and Brownian motion.
