- Abstract
This paper presents the design of an innovative platform to support teachers' personalized learning related to teaching statistics and data science in grades 6-12 (http://instepwithdata.org). Through a study of 32 pilot users, the authors describe how teachers utilized supports such as personalization surveys, tracking of progress on a dashboard, and recommendations of learning materials personalized based on survey results. Data from surveys, click logs, post user surveys and interviews were used to make sense of teachers' choices and preferences. Overall a large majority of teachers in the study completed recommended learning material and reported that the tracking dashboard and personalized recommendations were effective in supporting their learning.
