Background: Jeremy Bentham introduced Utilitarianism which is one of the normative ethical theories that imposes procedures that maximize happiness and well-being for all intended individuals. Utilitarianism has been applied to the crisis of global poverty, the ethics of raising animals for food, and social welfare economics. Materials and Methods (2023): In the current paper, we study the concept of Utilitarianism in the Triage system in disasters as an example of a nursing healthcare system. Results: Utilitarianism is a practical framework for the Triage system. Because it represents an important style of thought in modern life. Conclusions: Utilitarianism could be applied in some situations such as pandemics and crises. However, it has some limitations related to the ignorance of the principles of human rights and social justice.

This study aims to investigate patients' knowledge of the triage system, utilization of primary healthcare resources, and expectations for waiting times in Jordanian Emergency Departments (EDs). A descriptive, cross-sectional design was employed in the EDs in the largest public hospitals in Jordan. Convenient sampling resulted in 726 participants. A self-reported questionnaire included socio-demographic information and instruments assessing primary healthcare use, triage system awareness, and expected waiting times. Most participants (61.3%) lacked awareness of the triage system. The use of primary healthcare was influenced by age, education, marital status, current job, nationality, and location. Having a primary healthcare provider was associated with higher patient satisfaction. Significant variations in expected waiting times for diagnostic test results were noted based on gender, place of residence, education, current job, and marital status. Addressing patient awareness of the triage system is crucial for optimizing healthcare accessibility and quality in Jordanian EDs. Improving patient education, communication, and primary care utilization can enhance patient outcomes, reduce ED burden, and contribute to a more efficient healthcare system.

Introduction Many studies highlight the importance of family support in enhancing the experience of childbirth among women. Objective This qualitative study aimed to describe the lived experience of family support from the perspective of women during and after childbirth in the Jordanian context Methods A qualitative descriptive phenomenological approach was used to explore the experiences of women's family support in the context of their childbirth experiences. A total of 11 Jordanian women participated in the study. Face-to-face semi-structured interviews were conducted to collect data. Results Four major themes emerged from the data describing family support provided to women during and after childbirth. These themes were family support during childbirth, family support in the postpartum period, importance of family support during and after childbirth, and challenges related to receiving family support. Supportive family members primarily included the husband, the woman's family, and the family-in-law, according to the traditions inherited in the Jordanian context and culture. Conclusion The study findings could help maternal health professionals screen pregnant women who are at risk of receiving low family support, contribute to developing effective interventions regarding family-centered care, and enhance the overall childbirth experience for women in Jordanian cultural contexts.

Background: Postpartum depression (PPD) is one of the most serious problems that affect women and sometimes men in the postpartum period, it can be distinguished from the postpartum blues by the severity and duration. PPD is more serious and persist after the first week of the postpartum period, and can develop to Psychosis if doesn’t treat. This review to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of postpartum depression. Method: An electronic search in the databases, Cochrane databases for systemic review, ELM, Google Scholar, and Pub Med, using the keywords of Postpartum Depression, Postnatal depression, Risk Factors, and Prevalence. Result: After reviewing 23 studies, the prevalence worldwide was one in nine women had PPD. The risk factors were: psychosocial factors like lack of support, history of previous psychiatric illness, biological factors such as the deficiency of some nutrients (Vit-D, Omega-3, the race and ethnicity, the place of residence, the newborn health condition, mode of birth, and Anemia. Conclusion: PPD is the most common complication in the postpartum period. Good assessment from beginning of the preconception period to antenatal and finally in the postpartum period, can rescue many mothers from suffering. We as Healthcare providers should pay more attention to mothers especially in the postpartum period in the same level of priority as her infants.
