The analysis of the virtual environment assets towards the e-learning process improvements is mentioned in this article. The virtual environment was created within the solution of the project ‘Virtualization’ at the Faculty of Economics and Administration, University of Pardubice. The aim of this project was to eliminate the disproportion of free access to licensed software between groups of part-time and full-time students. The research was realized within selected subjects of the study program System Engineering and Informatics. The subjects were connected to the informatics, applied informatics, control and decision making. Student subject results, student feedback based on electronic questionnaire and data from log file of virtual server usage were compared and analysed. Based on analysis of virtualization possibilities the solution of virtual environment was implemented through Microsoft Terminal Server.

This paper deals with complex CFD simulations of flows in the flue gas system of a large power plant during operation. The aim of the published results is to present generalising knowledge obtained from complex simulations in the power station and show aspects for relevant modelling of large real systems. The computational models covered the flue gas system between the boiler and the flue gas fan. The CFD simulations were run in more model modifications and the results were used to evaluate the distribution of velocities, temperatures and solid pollutants. Relatively unique complex measurement allowed to validate the results of the simulations. The comparison of simulated and measured velocity profile in the large vertical channel with internal beam reinforcement system shows satisfactory agreement. The CFD model of the Ljungström-type air preheater at various rotation speed was used for prediction of the temperature distribution before the six electrostatic precipitators. Computed distribution of flow-rates on inlets and outlets of electrostatic precipitators were also validated by measurement. Based on good agreement was made a study of setting the outlet flap valves for balancing of flow-rates. The setting was satisfactory validated again. The results of study have shown that CFD simulations can be deployed even on large-sized flue gas pipelines with sufficient reliability if important parameters are respected.

The aim of our study was to characterize the group of patients suffering from dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring (DH) and to make the statistical analysis of monitored parameters. We retrospectively analysed the data of 122 patients with DH (age, gender, the severity of DH, tissue transglutaminase antibodies IgA (IgA-TGA) level and dapsone dose). The mild form of DH was recorded in 69 patients (56.6%), the moderate form in 48 patients (39.3%) and the severe form in 5 patients (4.1%); 118 patients (96.7%) are on dapsone therapy, 3.2% of patients are only on gluten-free diet. The median of average IgA-TGA in the mild form is 6.25 U/ml, in the moderate form 14.45 U/ml and in the severe form 10.33 U/ml. Although the significant relation of the IgA-TGA to the disease severity was not confirmed, there is some trend in the increase of the IgA-TGA level from mild to moderate and severe form of DH.

This paper is a follow-up study to previous research conducted in the field of Selective Catalytic Reduction systems. The objective of this particular study is to identify a suitable injection location for urea water solution within a chosen geometry, matching the distribution commonly used in these systems. Numerical simulations using ANSYS Fluent software were conducted, utilizing an evaporation model that had been fine-tuned based on experimental data. The droplet size injected from the nozzle was also determined from experimental data. The boundary condition applied to the walls was the “Wall-Jet” model, chosen as a compromise for time efficiency. Over one hundred simulations were conducted at more than fifty locations, with the results presented here serving as interim findings. Future research will investigate the application of the recommended injection sites in geometries similar to those used in SCR systems.

Despite the effective National Immunization Programme of Slovakia, some population groups are incompletely vaccinated or unvaccinated. We aimed to describe the measles outbreak spread in Eastern Slovakia between May and October 2018, affecting the Roma communities in relation to the existing immunity gaps.

A prominent figure in Czech and Moravian archaeology and an internationally recognised expert in the Paleolithic, paleoanthropology, and Quaternary geology, Prof. PhDr. Jiří Svoboda, DrSc., celebrated his milestone 70th birthday in September 2023. A medallion for his life anniversary has already been published in the journal Pravěk Nová řada (Novák 2023) and in its English version in the journal Anthropologie (Novák, Sázelová 2023), where readers can also find a complete bibliography of Jiří Svoboda. For the special issue of Přehled výzkumů 65/1, dedicated to this jubilee, we have prepared the following interview. Over tea and biscuits, in the cosy setting of the professor’s house in Klentnice, we discussed the important moments of his professional life. We asked about his studies, archaeological beginnings, scientific research activities, academic career, interdisciplinary and international collaboration, opinions on the popularisation of science, current state of research or perspectives for further research. In an unconventional way, we present Professor Svoboda’s rich curriculum vitae, which showcases not only his talent and diligence but, above all, his immense passion for uncovering our earliest history [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper discusses using three-dimensional (3D) models in archaeological research and their combination for four-dimensional (4D) visualisation. The acquisition of 3D models during an archaeological excavation provides high-accuracy records of sites, entire find situations, and individual archaeological features or finds, allowing for their further exploration, study, and analysis at any time. When combined with GIS, 3D models can allow spatial and volumetric analyses, revealing site formation processes. With time as an additional dimension, their combination can also allow site reconstruction and spatio-temporal analysis, providing a perspective on the diachronic evolution of the site. Such use, in the sense of 4D visualisation, can markedly enhance the interpretation of archaeological data. The case study focuses on the multi-layered Upper Paleolithic site of Milovice IV in the Pavlov Hills region of South Moravia, Czech Republic, where 3D data recording was incorporated into the excavation processes. The paper evaluates the effectiveness of 4D mosaics delivered by merging separate 3D models. It turns out that 4D site-scale mosaics, obtained by merging separate models, encounter certain obstacles and are unsuitable for detailed visualisation and interpretation. Conversely, small-(excavation squares)-scale 4D mosaics can more vividly demonstrate the diachronic development of a site, the spatio-temporal relationships between artefacts, and the fieldwork workflow. It is also apparent that the 2D presentation of 4D models has limitations, and thus, other forms of presentation, kept within the virtual space, could better utilise all the benefits of spatiotemporal visualisations.
